Password screen customizable? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I have serched not only the forums but my device and cant find a way to customize the password screen. My companys server requires a password (i have tried the reg edit to remove it but it resets each day). The layout is awful and I would like to change it. i have searched windows folder and cant find any images associated with it. i would assume it is most likely rendered like text. so i was wondering if there is a way to change it like the dialpad skins, or is it something that needs to be developed to run over top of the default program.
Any help would be much appreciated
thanks

I should of mentioned I have an AT&T Tilt WinMo 6.0.

Changing icon color substitution value for connection icons?

Appologies if this has been covered before. I searched a few ways but found nothing.
I am trying to change the color of the battery, sound, sync, etc icons. I looked through all the materials for themes and windows internal colors and was unable to find a registry key for them. I tried tweaking all the values for unknown keys and still had no effect. I located the icons in the windows directory and they appear to be using the classic two color substitution game for .bmp files. I have been trying to determine how windows mobile assigns the color for the icons but have been unable to locate it.
I was curious if anyone knew or had come across how windows deals with this, if it was some obscure registry key or came from somewhere in the rom. I had located online allusions to the idea that oems could mess with the icons but unfortunately no details to explain how.
If you can help, I would be most thankful.
Regards,
Rudy
They're bitmaps embedded in some of the rom dlls. I posted about it once, but couldn't find my own post on the issue . I think I know a way to change them now, but can't remember which dll they were in. I think it was shell*dll or something... if and when and remember, I'll try knocking together a solution.

Interesting, I'll look around in the dlls and see what I can find. I found what seemed to be the bitmaps used in the bar lying loose in the \Windows directory. I'll try editing them to see if it changes their appearance in the top row.
I am most interested in changing their color. I cannot seem to find anywhere where they they derrive the values that the icons substitute colors for.
Thanks for your response.
V
the file was shellres32.dll
Here is the post where we were talking about this i still never managed to do it so if you have figured out a way would be much appreicated.

Problem with hacks working on US MDA...help

Hi,
New here. I have been learning a lot from everyone here, Thanks!
I seem to have a problem though.... Every Hack so far that I try to implement won't work. Here are 2 examples:
Change Reg Keys for Left Soft button. I want it to point to my Agenda Fussion Calender instead of the Windows calender. So I change the Key to point to the AF exe location, being very careful to leave "" and to type path in precisely. I save the change and soft reset the device to see if it works...NOPE....When I go back into the registry to see what happened, the registry key is changed back to point to the microsoft calender. I have even closed the reg editor and reopend to check the change before the soft reset. Before the re-set my change is still there, but not after....
I have tried both PHMRegedit and TascalRegedit.
I have a US version of the MDA with ROM version# 2.26.10.2 WWE
Next problem I wanted to stop the system tray from showing up. So I removed the shortcut for Init_Tray from the startup menu....Well the tray still shows up. Now looking in the startup menu the shortcut is no longer there, but it still launches the tray!
What Am I doing wrong here? I see people making these same hacks and they work for them.
A little background on me. I have been entrenched in computers since 1983. Doing my share of programming (though nothing since I was kid...). I have been using pocket pcs for the last 2 years. With Toshiba 740's and e800's. So I am capable of doing this stuff. But for some reason I can't get these things to work...
Any help? Sorry for being so long winded
on your registry problem.. after changing the value manually, let the phone sleep or just sit there for a few minutes before soft resetting.. There is a delay write to the registry...
Thanks ShogunMark
I need to be more patient. I did this just before I read your reply...The hack for the soft button is now working the way I want. Now to get rid of the bottom system tray.
Thanks again!!
im not sure if you can exactly get rid of the system try completely in WM5.. however i could be wrong... i think at most you can only get rid of the icons in it.. but it does prove very useful for placing shortcuts..

today.lnk

i have been searching now for two days - but with no success. you are my last help.
i want to create a shortcut to launch the today screen (NOT the today config settings which is fairly easy). i am familiar with the syntax with lnk-files but have no clue how to access the today screen.
i guess it has something to do with shell32.exe, rundll32.exe or s.th like that?
i know that there are tools available but i want to keep numbers of tools small and do not want to install one just for a single shortcut.
why do i need this? i am creating an iphone skin and one of the icons will point to the today screen.
thanks
I'm interested in this too. I've asked before for the same purpose but to no avail.

Enable Cube with Softkey

I recently posted this on Mahmood's "tweaks and tricks" thread (after searching the Polaris forums unsuccessfully for an answer) but didn't receive any response. Does anyone know how to make this happen?
I recently saw a screenshot (somewhere around here) with "Cube" shown as the left Softkey (instead of the default "Calendar"). Does anyone know how I can program that Softkey to enable the cube? (It would be much easier than using the dreaded finger swipe).
I'm guessing it will mean a tweak to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112 (and probably HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings) but I'm not smart (or brave) enough to experiment.
Thanks.
Still looking for some help - Is this in the "too hard to do" pile or am I posting in the wrong forum?
I'd also be interested to know...
Or better yet, if it's possible to activate the cube by swiping top-down instead of the regular down-up (I'm using ContactPM and it's almost impossible to close the app without activating the cube!).
Thanks,
you can try advanced config app to change the soft keys...and all you need to know is what path enables the cube...im not at myh computer so you would have to search for advanced config....or i will post it when is get a chance...but it looks like the run app for the cube is
/windows/saplaywm.exe
and the command line parameters are
"/program files/sclpf/version 1-00.swf
hpe this helps...
RiNo808 -
First, thanks for trying to help.
Unfortunately I can't find saplaywm.exe (or anything close) on my TC (in \windows or anywhere else) and just typing it in as a new string value for Key 112 without really knowing where to point to it gets me an error message ("cannot be opened... not signed... components cannot be found...".
Should I be downloading it from somewhere?
OBTW, does the "808" in your name stand for your area code?

removing carrier text

So, I want to remove the carrier text and maybe add my own from my phone. I am running the stock 2.0 manilla, win 6.5, etc. Any one got any registry edits or anything like that?
No one out there got any help? I got rid of the carrier logo, just one more thing to clean it up! I know who my carrier is, don't know why they gotta clutter my screen with it!
Edit - Never mind, just read through the Imagio tweeks, tips, edits thread right below mine (at the time), and there were two cabs there, one to change the font and size throughout the system, and a little farther down, a cab to change the carrier text! Thank you HTCexy!
Nope, it didn't change the fonts on the home screen. They are still super small. Anything out there that can help with that?
