Hi folks
Yesterday i got my shift and i'm very happy. Liberation and WM work perfect. My problem is vista. It seems that i'm Admin but for some parts of the sytem i have to be systemadmin. When i try to start the sidebar for example, vista tells me that only the systemadmin administrates the sidebar.
I tried to open it by "open as admin" but the same, i clicked right on the sidebaricon and under properties and tried to activate "run as admin" but i cannot activate it because it is gray and seems not active.
How can I become systemadmin, or how can I solve the problem?
Please help me. I don't know what to do.
Tobi
The sidebar service is disabled by default, as is the readyboost service.
You'll need to change the settings by typing services.msc in the start menu search box.
Thanks, but i already had a look at the services... you may think i'm stupid but i cannot find the service for the sidebar... whats its name?
Tobi
Here's what I meant to say-

Ahh.. thanks, it works. Sorry i didn't find the threat. Thank you for the link.

Has anybody had this issue or know how to rectify it?
I have wisbar advance 2 and wisbar advance desktop installed and so far the only problem i can see is when i try to access setting>usb to pc the options screen opens and closes by itself within a second so i cant alter the settings.
I dont really use those settings anyway but just wanted a fix just incase i need them in future.
Same here....
I hadn't spotted it until you mentioned this, but I have the same problem..... No solution I can find as yet, but I'll let you know if I do!

You only need to to exit WA2, then change your settings.
Though, it's probably a setting you'll never touch anyway. Mine came enabled by default, and most may want to leave it at that.
I figured the same thing about exiting to change settings.
Mine came enabled by default but i have to disable in order to activesync.
I am using the undated, unrestricted version of windows live, when i am logged in into live messenger I am not able to change my display name. On my desktop pc it shows my correct name, but on my Herald just my e-mail adress?? When I try to change my name I get an error: There was a problem precessing your request. Never had this prob before! can anyone help? thanks in advance!
Same problem with my T-Mobile Wing (HTC Herald)
First, I want to say I been having this "issue/problem" since I was using My T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard) WM5, that's right.. I have try other ROMs (other versions of the software) before I upgraded to this new device I'm using now. I been using Windows Live Messenger mobile services since the beta days... What i do remember is this "problem" started to happen to me around March 31/April 1 of this year. I remember downloading the new NON-BETA and installing on my MDA. From then, the service hasn't worked properly. I also get this: "Some information is either missing or incorrect. Please try again." and when that one comes up "my display picture" still doesn't show to others but "my personal message" and "my display name" on the messenger shows up to them. I have try a few things already that I have read on this site but nothing as work yet for me.
I've uninstalled the Aserg optimisation, reinstalled the WML and it worked again I don't know what the optimize stuff does (except the smaller scrollbar and some handy apps) but it really was the issue...

Thanks, but i have little idea of what you mean by "uninstalling the Aserg optimization". Is there an "app" on my PPC named "Aserg"? Nop! *Never even heard of it*

The only options I know of, are my "msn/windows live profile options" and yes in the past I have try a few things. The only thing I have notice is that if I have a "Display Picture" located on my "Messenger appearance" part of that page of my "Profile" when I try to "Sync" on my PPC it will always give me an error. This one to be exact "Synhronization failed." *Everything (e-mails, contacts) syncs except my messenger display picture, my personal message and my display name. I don't believe my "Messenger appearance permissions" or my "General appearance permissions" from my msn/windows live profile should be the reason why this happens to me.
**Some times I wonder, if my "service provider" has anything to do with this feature on my "Windows Live" being crippled. *fcukers!

Not sure if THIS POST will help, but it gives the command lines for pretty much every Control Panel entry (i.e. everything under Start | Settings)....
There is a link to the today screen which you should be able to use in a shortcut on one of your menus....
HTH,
Mark.
mmm..
Read the wiki maybe you find answers:

Unfortuantely, the "Today" item there is for opening up the Today Screen Settings. I was trying to find such a "shortcut" myself a while back, and never did come up with anything. At this point, I think it can only be done programmatically, by "minimizing all running apps". I haven't looked, but there's probably a pretty simple Windows API call for that.
Similar to what a couple of other suggestions here have been, there is probably some alternative that you can use to get to the Today Screen easily. I use Wisbar Lite, and as such, I lose the Double Click the Windows Button, and simple Menu->Today features. But I found I can configure Wisbar Lite to give me pretty easy access. I also believe it was SPB Pocket Plus that gave me link that I use to program my PPT button to go to the Today Screen on a quick press. Don't know where exactly, that link really is, so I can't investigate how it's actuially done.
Maybe some of the above will help you?

Guys thanks for all the suggestions and links...
i have done something else and its so good now...
@Mark Crouch thanks for the link, i am sure those short cuts are pretty handy..
@jlopez0978 reading wiki did not help .. i usually go there first before i post
SO this is what i did...
there is a program from " CHRIS" of the lakebridgesoftware forum
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11394&page=3
see the post no. 29......
this program will toogle to the desktop... and its graphics are good like htc touch......
i made a link to this program to one of the hardware button( PTT) and now i can toggle to desktop with one key press
Gopu
Good find!!!
I've installed it on my Hermes now too - you're right, it works great!!!
Cheers,
Mark.
Hi all , I need a help
How can I stop listing my recently opened documents??
actually, it is annoying !!! I hope your help friend
by the way, I use appl SKTools 4.21 to clear the list ..... but it is some thing bothering me ....
Thanx in advance for all
if your talking about the recent programs list in the start menu...theres a program called startclean, that clears the list every time you reboot, other than that, i dont know....
theres a link for the startclean.exe somewhere in the forums
the program wisbar advance allows you to not show the recent apps list at all. Its a cool little launcher program that I quite like and have used for a while. I'm trying out Ultimate launcher at the moment but like wisbar more. It is a commercial program but the benefits far outweigh the cost. There is a trial but I'm not sure for how long. Hope this helps.

It won't stop them getting listed as you use them but whenever StartClean (tiny wee cab, lots of copies of it posted around here) will make sure your start menu is clean whenevr you soft reset.
(I cook it into my ROMs every time, so useful).

Sorted....
As I said, Wisbar Advance 3 (for WM06) allows you to NOT SHOW recently used apps. It is part of the settings where you can pick if you want "help", "find", "desktop", "favourites" and recent settings" by ticking/unticking a box. You can also change the indicators across the top and their order. I would suggest this if you dont want to be troubled by "Recent Items" again... Cheers

Mm, I'm pretty sure that this or another app would be the only way to do that and ultramag69's suggestion of Wisbar Advance is probably the most popular option.
Other than that (if you don't want that running - it does do a lot of otyher, clever thigs you might also find yuo enjoy though) I think you'll have to search about, probably with Google or your own perferred search engine. there's probably some freeware aruond to do that task only and therefore be 'smaller' I'd have thought. StartClean does me as I do like to have the programs I just launched sat there but not on boot-up.
Hi,
Found this link. Haven't tried it yet to see if it just removes them temporarily or stops it from listing them, but worth a shot.

Disregard
Got Home and tried it and on mine under WM6 it doesn't work. Will keep looking.

These are available all over. Please use keyword "Task Killer" in your search on this site or google. Always search fully before you start a new thread.

Hi,
I think I saw one app called AppSentry on freewareppc.com for exactly that purpose.
AppSentry
I've never tried it before so I have no idea if it works or not.
I hope this helps.
Try this, works just like on computer.
Put in your phone and assign it to voice command key.

I think that closes only the active program (like alt+f4) and not all running programs.
if you would have searched you would find appsentry here in the forum. so dont start such threads ! thats not the sense of xda devs, because there are many solutions like vjokbutt and so on. because of this many noob "i have a question"-threads we cant find here anything.
and you really need help: "task killler" ? did you try taskmanager, close button or similar ? think about it.
there is a 'closeAll' app in the rs folder linked in my signature
i am sorry, maybe i have started the topic in the wrong section but i have searched for an hour before starting.i searched here, google and in lot of other freeware sites like the freewareppc.com.
i have tried the AppSentry and CloseAll but i cant install them because "...the installation file is not intended for this device", i have also installed a lot of others task managers or app killer(DottfredTaskmanager,appcloser,killcprog,etc...) but they are not automatic or not intended for such a option.
OK ...i am closing the topic and excuse me for the trouble. :-(
