These are available all over. Please use keyword "Task Killer" in your search on this site or google. Always search fully before you start a new thread.

Hi,
I think I saw one app called AppSentry on freewareppc.com for exactly that purpose.
AppSentry
I've never tried it before so I have no idea if it works or not.
I hope this helps.
Try this, works just like on computer.
Put in your phone and assign it to voice command key.

I think that closes only the active program (like alt+f4) and not all running programs.
if you would have searched you would find appsentry here in the forum. so dont start such threads ! thats not the sense of xda devs, because there are many solutions like vjokbutt and so on. because of this many noob "i have a question"-threads we cant find here anything.
and you really need help: "task killler" ? did you try taskmanager, close button or similar ? think about it.
there is a 'closeAll' app in the rs folder linked in my signature
i am sorry, maybe i have started the topic in the wrong section but i have searched for an hour before starting.i searched here, google and in lot of other freeware sites like the freewareppc.com.
i have tried the AppSentry and CloseAll but i cant install them because "...the installation file is not intended for this device", i have also installed a lot of others task managers or app killer(DottfredTaskmanager,appcloser,killcprog,etc...) but they are not automatic or not intended for such a option.
OK ...i am closing the topic and excuse me for the trouble. :-(

Hi,
Whenever I play a media file on my XDA II, and then close WMP, after about 5 mins it pops back up again, ready to play the file. This is annoying as I have to switch off my device, and switch it back on again to get it to stop.
If anyone could solve this i'd be pleased to know how
In WindowsMobile(WM), the "X" sign doesn't mean "close" but "minimized". If u wanna close the WMP, go to "running program" and stop the program.
Or use a third party apps that are able to change the "X" sign to be a real close, such as Spb pocket plus, Giga Task, etc...

i beleive this applies to most programs unless the application being used has it's own "quit" or "exit" function. i use systeminfo on the today screen to shut down all running apps when i don't want them anymore.
2 cents worth

I got it...
Hello Robson,
thanks for the offer, I guess I dont need it anymore, I downloaded app called WisBar Advance and it works pretty good.
Thanks anyway and sorry for the late answer, I was just starting with XDA so things take me some while
Petr
Alternatively, you can get rid of most "properly written" applications by just typing CTRL + Q on the keyboard, this will quit the app - works with WMP and all apps provided by MS.
hi,
I want to make my app realy exit when user taps on the x button in the upper-right area of the screen, so what msg should I handle to do this?
I am using MFC eVC++ 4.0
Thanks
Mohammad
I don't remember the exact link right now, but on the same site I gave you before (www.pocketpcdn.com) there is an article about handling "smart minimize".
Just do a search.
there is already a program out there called wclose.exe when you hit the x it will ask you if you want to close, if you choose yes it shuts it down, if you choose no it just minimizes it
and there are plenty of other programs, but I don't remember their names.
I however remember that Wisbar Advance and SPB Pocket Plus has them
There's also MagickButton, but mohgdeisat is looking to incorporate this functionality in to a program he is writing, not to use a 3rd party app.
By the way, here is the link to the article:
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/close_app.html
Thanks guys,
I got the topic and I am reading it, hope it works.
and a special thank you for levenum
Mohammad
be careful using such applications on some programs
not sure if it's the case with wm2005 but with 2003
closing outlook that way just after a sms would sendt
would result in a stuck sms icon and 2 sms's sendt
A anyone got link for wclose i cant seem to find it anywhere :?
Thanks
MagicButton or wclose?
Which is better MagicButton or wclose? I am using MB but sometimes it kind of makes prog go in a loop they don't shut down keep popping up. This is happening after the ROM upgrade... any help on which is the best prog for close app jobs?

Hi all , I need a help
How can I stop listing my recently opened documents??
actually, it is annoying !!! I hope your help friend
by the way, I use appl SKTools 4.21 to clear the list ..... but it is some thing bothering me ....
Thanx in advance for all
if your talking about the recent programs list in the start menu...theres a program called startclean, that clears the list every time you reboot, other than that, i dont know....
theres a link for the startclean.exe somewhere in the forums
the program wisbar advance allows you to not show the recent apps list at all. Its a cool little launcher program that I quite like and have used for a while. I'm trying out Ultimate launcher at the moment but like wisbar more. It is a commercial program but the benefits far outweigh the cost. There is a trial but I'm not sure for how long. Hope this helps.

It won't stop them getting listed as you use them but whenever StartClean (tiny wee cab, lots of copies of it posted around here) will make sure your start menu is clean whenevr you soft reset.
(I cook it into my ROMs every time, so useful).

Sorted....
As I said, Wisbar Advance 3 (for WM06) allows you to NOT SHOW recently used apps. It is part of the settings where you can pick if you want "help", "find", "desktop", "favourites" and recent settings" by ticking/unticking a box. You can also change the indicators across the top and their order. I would suggest this if you dont want to be troubled by "Recent Items" again... Cheers

Mm, I'm pretty sure that this or another app would be the only way to do that and ultramag69's suggestion of Wisbar Advance is probably the most popular option.
Other than that (if you don't want that running - it does do a lot of otyher, clever thigs you might also find yuo enjoy though) I think you'll have to search about, probably with Google or your own perferred search engine. there's probably some freeware aruond to do that task only and therefore be 'smaller' I'd have thought. StartClean does me as I do like to have the programs I just launched sat there but not on boot-up.
Hi,
Found this link. Haven't tried it yet to see if it just removes them temporarily or stops it from listing them, but worth a shot.
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.pocketpc/browse_thread/thread/d4537c1a66a31057
Let me know how it works

Got Home and tried it and on mine under WM6 it doesn't work. Will keep looking.
I'm developting a little app....
One of its functions should be CLOSE INTERNET CONNECTION....
I've tried different ways to do that, but nothing soddisfy me...
ATM I'm using "DataDisconnect.exe" (a little app which can be found in windows folder....)
The only problem is that when I use this app, an annoying popus comes out....
Anyway.... Any chance to simply close internet connection without using that metod?
Thanks in advance....
you havent mentioned which Language u using to develop, if its C#, try here :
http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2945940&SiteID=1
its to Deactivate /Activate all Services like (Internet,WIFI,Bluetooth,WLAN..)
I use Mortscript...
So I need a particular file/app or at least a reg key to deactivate the connection...
Anyway... Thank for your interest....
Any other possibile solutions??

But I need to know an application which can do that (so I could launch it throught Mortscript...)
E.G.: Comm Manager does exactly what I mean, If you tap on connection sharing (ON-OFF), the connection is closed correctly....
So is there any way to use the same command as Comm Manager does?
Dear HTC LEO, welcome in my life.
But why is there no way to activate the quick menu?(on the upper right corner?)
And how about the lock screen? every time the device wakes up it locks.
how do i disable and enable these things?

I'm wondering the exact same thing myself mate.
Can no-one help?
Another here who misses the 'Quick Menu'.
There's a lot of talk on not being able to shut down programs that are loaded into memory without now having to launch the Task Manager first, but this was all part of the same HTC Task Manager.... you either closed it or brought it to the front.

several threads going on this. HTC task manager cab can be found in the threads "hints and tips". The cab has been provided by Dutty Throy. I have read that some users need to disable htc sence before installing.

Yes, I'm well aware of those topics. I've contributed to some myself.
What I am saying though is although there is a lot of talk on this no one seems to mention the Quick Menu's acxess list.
Everone talks of being able to access the closed 'X'.

I agree. If the memory management is so super-duper that it can leave programs open and not have a detrimental effect then that doesn't help me switch between them on my MULTI-TASKING smart phone now does it!
I just want the quick menu back. I hate the idea of having to flash a ROM onto a phone that I've had for less than a day, just to get some of the functionality that I expected to be standard.
You can switch to running application by running it again.

I've been using a very similar OS for over a year now, and have always been able to just click the down arrow in the top right of my home screen for a list of running apps. This is what people are asking for, not work-rounds.
Besides, if the app in question is in a sub-menu of a sub-menu of the start menu, then it becomes a real pain to run it again. It's quicker to stick the task manager on your quick links on the home page and use that (despite the fact that that is ANOTHER app running, and we don't have access to exclusions any more either).
Dr.Sid said:

Yes but this is exactly why there is an issue in not having a 'Quick Menu'.
Running them again you have to open Start then find the program (of which if you have many, many programs/games can take quite a bit of effort).
Much simpler to just open the 'Quick Menu' and click on the already opened program.....
