Any ultra light version? - P3600 General

First of all, sorry if this is a stupid question but I dont want to post the same in any topic.
I ask if anyone made or can make a WM6.1 ultra light version. I mean, the more recent OS version, but without any application like HTC Home, albuns, players, personal themes or else. Just the plain and simple Operative System, for anyone that want to install his prefered applications.
I'm not a cooker and try some ROM's, but the ones that work fast and stable, got too much programs that never used, and the ones really light, have too many bugs or are realy slow.
Thanks in advice....

i want to know that too
edit: but the closest on i've seen is Mary's Super Light 3.7 (currently using it)

Very stable, everything works, no extra battery consumption.

This is as close to a perfect "OS ONLY" ROM I've seen so far...

Hi SuperSport,
Have you compared this with FIniXNover 3.4 Light? In your opinion which is more stable, faster with less bugs...
Thanks for your help.

Actually, I haven't compared them. As it is now, I use my phone heavily on a daily basis, so I cannot be down with problems. From what I read, there are still some problems with 3.4. I may be wrong, but I have not tested yet.
Don't get me wrong, I think FIniXNover is a GREAT chef, and have tried his ROMS in the past, but for now, will stick with these...

Though, looks like author is not working on ROMs for polaris anymore. Its a big shame...
It was the only trully naked ROM for Polaris. /sigh
M-Amine 2.0 Light is waaaay faster than 3LIT3 naked. Believe me, I tried both.
Thank you, all! will probably go with 3LIT3 naked
NFS...
I've tested many ROMs. I got to think that they are several HW versions for Polaris... it might be a noob opinion, but it's the only explanation i found. Some ROMs here on XDA were reviewed as lightning fast but when I flashed them on my Polaris I was more disappointed than I was by the stock ROM...
to be honest it's really a headache to choose the best rom, some have combatability issues, others are stack after a while, what I like is to have a steady rom with enough internal storage to install my applications.
the problem is I like the cooked roms tweaks but....
for me I tried most of xda available roms and I guess i will go with the original 3.19 Rom
rom that can Video Call?
I had been wanting to make a new clean and lightweight installation for a long time, because I had tried so many softwares on my Rom that it was kinda messed up. This thread was the trigger.
I tried 3LIT3 naked, M.Amine light, and another "light" Rom I can't remember as it erased it in no time (toooo sloooooow).I had tried oter Roms before, but none was really fast.
It turns out that Manilla is slow as hell (yeah, I know, no big surprise), but the enhanced menus are sluggish too. Really, it makes a huge difference. Much more than several % of free memory
.
Amine light ended being the best choice fo speed by far. I have no numbers to back it up, as the only testism daily use.
M.Amine light comes with... nothing, or close. Just the basic tweaks.
I added everything I needed from Cabs from this thread : HTC home (yes, Amine Light is SO LIGHT it does not even have home plugin!), HHC, Cube (which is fast, and convenient imo), TomTom (I own a licence) plus a task manager and Skyfire both downloaded from other webites.
It took me about 10 minutes to complete the whole installation and my phone has never been faster. And stable.
I have used M.Amine Roms for a while in the past, so I expect it to remain pristine even after intensive use.

+1st bates, well put.
I can't really comprehend the importance of the question about battery life, as it is on ALL builds ok-ish... depending on the different usage habits.
Just to enlightened the OP... my Tytung 2.1 Gingerbread Nand can go for two days or even more... if I leave it untouched
But it is probably flat in like 4 or 5 hours playing nonstop Angry Birds... never tried either option... but you get the gist!

I would like to know answer to the same question. And I know there are MANY people who tried MANY ROMS. Each person's usage pattern may be different. But same person IMHO uses HD2 same way with different ROMs. Which means if you ALREADY tried 10 ROMS and found out that ROM "XYZ" is best for battery.

Cmon man, i made a question about the people opinion and my first aswer is someone talking things like "dont be dumm and try".

Sorry if I misunderstood.
Cyanogen Roms have the worst battery life, everything else is equal.
That's about as much as I can sum it up. Every Desire/Sense rom is going to have the same, every Cyanogen is going to have the same.
You choose whether you want CM or Sense, then you choose which one looks the nicest to you and has the features you want.
Edit: My favorite build so far (battery life is fine also) is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159 CMYLXGO's Stock Desire HD/Z Hybrid v2.0.4

I agree, also the Radio is a variable.
For me the best NAND build is MDJ Cyanogenmod with 2.12.50 radio, but now im testing with 2.15.50, and it seems that 2.12.50 is better.
I just flashed my first android nand last night. newest CM7 with 2.15 radio. 12 hours off charger and at 58%. had this been yesterday with android on sd, my phone would have died already.

It's not a drastic difference (unless you use Bluetooth) but CMs (Cyanogen Mods) do use more battery IMO, they seem to burst more in Standby, Wifi seems to be less battery-friendly and Bluetooth is a joke on most.
Sense IMO is the way to go, I love the look/feel and it seems pretty well ironed out.
Also, if you use LED Me Know, uninstall it or turn off Compatibility Mode (HD2 can only use Green and Amber (Orange) so make sure you use those two colors if you do keep it; just keep in mind your LED won't pulse any more.
The pulsing LED gives me a 60mA drain constantly if I have an Unread notification and my LED is going, it wasn't like this on SD from what I remember, must be a NAND issue.
Solid LED > No LED though.

Stick with stock rom Or CM7

So i was thinking of changin my rom to Cm7 just for android 2.3, is it laggy? dose it drain the battery more ?? Advice please
Im using CM7 and im loving it my battery seems to be better with cm7 running and its not laggy. However i did mess with the cpu settings and my battery died proper quick but now ive restored its all good again. Try it out and see if you like it
IMHO CM7 provides loads of additional features to the Buzz handset. O.k, as a custom rom it has bugs here and there but that's par for the course and most major ones get sorted. CM7 is the way forward ... there are new roms challenging the top spot but aren't quite there yet. You can always backup current rom and restore it if you don't get on with CM7 so no harm in trying it!
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
As said above, I would say to give it a try. Take a Nandroid backup beforehand, and, if CM7 doesn't suit you, you can always get back to your backed up Stock ROM.
Its definitely worth switching though. I am extremely pleased with it.
Only bad thing about CM7 is the font size. It is extremely small that it looks pixelated and takes out the wow out of the UI.
HTC sense looks best IMO, only reason I root is to get app2SD. Thats it.
I always use stock ROMs. Sorting out the bugs itself is a big time eater. I hate it.
Wtf is wrong with the font size on CM7? It's the same for me and was the same on stock/wildpuzzle... and bugs? pfft lol, that's why you stick with the stable release.
Anyway it's your choice, if you're happy with sense/stock, stick with stock or wildpuzzle or the DK sense rom, if you don't like it and wanna try something new and has heaps of themes, get CM7.
Besides, Font Size can be increased as per your will in CM7.
stay with the stock rom, is better, CM7 allways have a lot of bugs

Most of the designs on CM7 are made for high resolution phones, Wildfire having a lower resolution doesn't look great. Post screen shots of your app-drawer, desktop so on.

Bugs are not enough reason to ditch an OS ?. One bug scares people away. Just one bug.
I am not a developer, just an average user. If you can't satisfy me, then you won't sell anything big. Unfortunately, its so.
I don't get orgasm about any new version of anything. I want things that work seamlessly. Changing versions without solving bugs won't help.

This was true, not any longer, after nhnt11 made the required changes to make CM7 look like it is supposed to on LDPI Devices.
Anyway, its unfortunate that CM didn't suit you, but that is exactly why I think all posts in this thread ask the OP to try out CM, No ROM is perfect, everyone knows this, but, a particular bug for someone may be no big deal to another person. It's all about preference. As for me, even I am an average user, not a dev, and, yes, I am not saying CM is bug free, but, for me, they are no deal breakers.
Who said anything about changing versions? I just said stick to the stable releases, not change whenever a new nightly is released, and if you want the bugs to be resolved, post it to the issue tracker, or tell the devs about the bugs and don't whine about it.
It will get fixed eventually, all you have to do is wait.

I spend money/time on something not to wait(spend more time) but to use it. You still don't seem to be able to understand the viewpoint of someone else. And haven't posted any screenshots. What else would be a way to compare ?
Stable release ?. The number of stable releases devs make kinda doesn't go with "stable" actually. There hasn't been a developer version of ROM without bugs.
I go for perfection, bugs just puts me off.
A guy asked which he should use Stock or CM7. And we gave our views from experience with both. As 3xeno said, its all about preferences.
Even this stock ROM has bugs, but chances are big that you will find some more on CM7, altough I've never worked on it. But the nice thing about it that on CM bugs will be fixed eventualy, whilest on stock ROM you're left alone with it..
Perhaps a first step is to go away from sense. I liked sense, but installed Homelauncher pro just to try, and I have found out that I liked it even more than sense. I am now in the stage where I gradualy change all the stock things on my ROM (for so far it is possible). So I know now that I ceryainly will change my ROM once I can.
So you really have to try: you don't realize what can get better unless you have seen other options. And if you are hesitating because of the 'big' step of changinf ROM, perhaps try to change some typic stock things. You will see for yourself if you want to go and see more of what other ROMs have to offer you.
Or that is at least my oppinion: as stated, I've always worked and am still working on the stock ROM.

Why Are Custom Roms Worse Than Stock Roms?

i had installed a custom rom based on 6.5 on my hd2. its supposed to be a stripped down version of the stock rom, so its supposed to give longer battery and better performance. but its got terrible battery life, and camera and pictures look horrible. the stock rom gives batter cam and pics, and the battery is WAYYY better. can someone explain why this is so if this is supposed to be better than a stock rom?

I haven't had any of those problems with HyperdroidGBX. Only static I get in a call is from having the volume up too loud and that's not from the call. My cameras work fine and take good quality pics for a phone. Battery life is good... for Android.
I tend to go into all types of settings after a new install and tweak and optimize as much as possible so I might be getting better results.
I tried WM6.5 for half a day when I got the phone. Hated it so I rooted and ROM'd quickly. Can't attest to it's abilities. I am curious to test WM7 but Android does everything I need and more I don't know if I'll ever test it.

I had no idea you were the same dude who has been posting the various threads on porting iOS and running WP7 apps and now with why are custom ROMs bad.
It really sounds like you got the wrong phone.
Here's the deal:
All custom ROMs are different, just as all stock ROMs are different.
I personally hate the Stock WM6.5 ROM on the HD2, it is buggy, slower, and you can't really do much with it. Have a little fun if you are going to use WM6.5
Flash NRG or another custom ROM that really lets you have some fun with your device, maybe a CHT2 ROM that you can change all the UI elements and add widgets and other mods as well as some awesome themes and such.
Battery life depends on your radio, ROM, and settings, so anything could be the culprit there, you might try different radios.
I am not following you around and couldn't care less about where you go, you just happened to start 3 threads that I happened to to read and reply to the effect that you didn't even attempt to search or learn about the device before you posted, that was all.
I had no idea you started all 3 threads until I just read this response right now.
Either way, if you are actually serious about this thread, I would suggest you really try out some really good custom ROMs and be sure to flash task29 before switching ROMs because this will really eliminate latent NAND issues that could carry over to the next ROM.
My suggestion is the latest NRG 6.5.x sencity CHT2 ROM.
edit:
for Android try running American Android from SD, everything works perfect for me on the latest build.

ok, now we're making progress.. and thanks for the reply. you mentioned installing the new NoDo rom for WP7. does this new rom possess live services and marketplace? i read somewhere that WP7 roms dont have that.. but you can enable them with some hack. i want a rom equipped with services and marketplace without having to ruin the hack.. too tedious.
but i dont want to dual boot.. anyway. let me know... thanks.

Yes, you call MS and say you're running WP7 and need an activation code. They will give it to you, you then enter it into your phone and Live Services work just fine.
All custom ROMs are pre-configured with the "hack" and other settings. You just need the activation code from MS. This is the same process someone who has to hard-reset an HD7 would have to go thru.
Dual-Boot is pretty easy, you just stick a ROM on your SD card and choose to boot that if you want, it actually is pretty simple.

[Q] Even with all the stickies, can't find a decent rom, maybe with sense too

Its for my father's HD2, Windows Mobile is pretty much useless nowadays, and he loves the Voice Search feature on my Evo 3D. Its going to be a NAND rom, not booting from SD, that would be too annoying for him to use.
Thing is, there are only about 1000 roms for this thing....... even dozens of versions of Cyanogen.
And on top of that, I don't know how well some of the custom roms with Sense 2.0 or 3.0 would work, or if any are missing hardware support.
I understand you lose performance if you add-on alternate UIs like sense, but how big is the performance hit? Hes not going to be playing high-end 3D games or performing protein folding or anything on the thing, so as long as the performance loss doesn't hit the "Phone becomes laggy, input lags, and it takes forever to load anything" range, I would actually prefer a sense based rom than one without.
Again, I am doing this for someone that isn't TOO technical, though no stranger to computers either, so I don't need a rom packed full of overclocking and root tweaking options (though a rooted rom would still be preferred).
So then, are there any good Sense 3.0 roms for the HD2 available? Got any you recommend? Do they still support all of the phone's hardware?
If not, what would be your next choice? Is there much point in using Sense 2.0 over vanilla android other than the extra sense widgets which he would probably not care about? Sense 3.0 does have the looping home screens and the very functional lock screen that I know he would find useful.
Thanks, I know a lot of people ask for recommendations, but after searching for roms for days and basically flying blind in the "maybe this one will be good, its got a lot of people installing it" category I could really use some advice, especially for a Sense 3.0 rom... if they exist.

If you really want sense, go for a dhd sense 3 rom (Runnymede Sense 3.5 works well on mine), and if you really want looping homescreens, install launcherpro on any rom of your choice.
BUT I'd recommend a cm7/miui rom because in the end, it's still slow.
Linkies:
- Typhoon
- Dorimanx

Not a fan of Sense 3.5 over 3.0 personally.
And just how slow is it compared to CM7? I mean, I understand CM7 will be faster than a sense rom, even CM7 with sense hacked in, but as long as its not laggy or sluggish thats fine, I don't need it to break benchmark records and run the latest 3d software.
I really like the sense 3.X roms... and i don't find them THAT slow (i have a DHD).
But that god damn graphic glitch is anoying, and i'm not going to disable GPU rendering of sense to get it working without glitches... must wait

Im new to NAND HD2, but not new to the HD2 ( sold my 1st one, just got another the other day ) but I just flashed my first Android NAND ROM and I noticed all thse graphic glitches, i thought it was something else. But apparently its a common problem for everyone? No fix Im assuming.
Anyways im curious what you mean by DHD?
GHetting to performance, HD2 isnt bad at all! Im old time Android owner going back to the G1 and myTouch 3G.If you wanna see degraded performance try flashing a Sense rom on a G1 or 32B device. OWwwo
Well I can recommend Rafdroid rom. Its Sense2 stock froyo. Works mostly well.
So, did they ever fix those graphic glitches people keep complaning about?
MIUI builds are very slick, very impressive on the HD2, can't imagine it being any slicker or faster as there seems to be zero lag whatsoever.

there are roundabout fixes yes
I have the same question (which ROM to use?) but this post still doesnt not give me a clear answer. I have been using Mikhei777 sense 3.0 version (original) but it has lots of lag and is fairly sluggish. He has upgraded it a few times but now seems to be spending more time on the sense 3.5 version. Its my wifes phone so do not want to keep trying new versions. Just want someone to recommend a known good stable version...
Thanks

Strange, I can't find that one here:
http://android.hd2roms.com/
I've been using Mikhei777's Android 2.2.1 Sense 2.0 rom for quite some time. It works great and haven't had any problems at all with it. The wifi hotspot works also. Not sure about bluetooth and USB tethering stuff. Don't use them. He deleted a lot of the useless system apps but there is a rar file you can download from the first post that has all of the deleted stuff in case there is something you want to put back in it. I've only put on Facebook and the text to speech stuff. I'm not using an ext on my phone since I have a TMOUS HD2 so, I don't have memory issues. Give it a try. If you don't like it you can always flash something else.

exactly, wise words...
if you want a good rom with everything working, miui is the way to go. If your friend is not a hardcore techie, he better stays away from those Sense roms. try it for yourself and compare.. but seriously feature wise Sense is so outdated compared to miui (except the htc widgets maybe).
cheers
The worst about MIUI, it's that laggish launcher/desktop.
I don't know why... it fells "low frame rate".

That's why I use PAT's MIUI Rom with Sense launcher. It combines the best of the 2 world's. Very fast, customizable and everything is working like in other MIUI rom's and a very good, customizable launcher with the most important sense widget's.
No graphic glitches, not a disabled GPU acceleration and camcorder with full resolution and without lags. And the newest Android 2.3.7 version.
Use this rom since some month's, will never go back to the slow sense rom's. Only the dialer facebook integration of the sense dialer isn't there, but I don't have facebook and Co. But there is already an alternative dialer on the market, probably he can also display the actual feelings (posted in facebook) of the incoming caller and such nonsense.

now you have surprised me not sure which version of miui you are refering to, but i am on jan-willems miui and there is zero lag (its butter smooth) on the luncher. basically there are no issues at all.
btw installing a 3rd party launcher on miui is a no go, as it decrases the fuctionality.. people no offense, but you need to read the miui bible
@Nixda99
one question, what do you mean by:
"Only the dialer facebook integration of the sense dialer isn't there, but I don't have facebook and Co."?
When i get a call from a Facebook contact i can actually see its profile pic from facebook. On contact details i also see his status or last comment or whatever its called clicking on it, opens the facebook app and goes to this comment. is that what you meant?
If you are looking for a good ROM, Team Blue Droid have produced an excellent sense 3.5 Rom which looks the business and works far better than many others I have flashed recently on mh EU HD2. I am not that technically minded regarding SD card partition types, but I run mine via SD card after flasing a 1024 partition using CMR and the accompanying DAF.exe.

Yes!
There are missing also the hardware switching widgets (WLAN, Mobile Network...) but all is in the top status bar. You have only the contacts and the calendar widget, but it's enough for me.

But no hardware acceleration or with graphical glitches, only the new sense kernels should solve this problem. I don't know if there already stable.
How many free ram do you have after start with this rom?
