ARE THESE THE CORRECT STEPS TO UPGRADE WM5 TO WM6?
i don't want to mess up my ppc.......
"""How to upgrade from WM5 TO WM6""""
To upgrade your prophet to WM6 I recommend that you first of all downgrade to the NVID version of WM5 AKU2.2 and get the latest Active Sync:
1. Download the NVID(no vendor) AKU2.2 rom for WM5 here :http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693...24721_NVID.exe
2. After it has been downloaded get the latest Active Sync from Microsoft.com
3. Install active sync, you might need to reboot
4. When your computer has rebooted, run the file from step No 1 . Follow the steps, remember that it can take some time and seem to stuck at 80% and higher, but just wait.
5. When you have done this, your pda will reboot. After it comes with the welcome to windows mobile screen,"Tap Here To Begin",JUST LEAVE IT. In fact don't touch your device before the next steps are finished.
6. Now download one of the WM6 versions( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...85&postcount=1 )
7. Now find a file named Upgrade.bat, and run it.(you don't have to run Step1 of PdaMobiz or PDAViet Temp,as you have already downgraded to AKU2.2)
8. Wait until the upgrade finishes(usually takes 12-15minutes)..WAIT WAIT WAIT
9. A message will be displayed in the dos box,and it will say that the upgrade is finished etc....etc...,now you HAVE to HARD RESET,to finish the upgrade and enjoy you new WM6!
What device do you have?
Look in the forums for that device to find your answer...

Hi all, Im just new here and thanks alot for u all..
my Qtek 1010 back again to the life
Once I decided to upgrade my Qtek 1010 (StrongARM) to the new CE ROM which is the 3.16 the newest one while in writing this and you can get it from www.qtek.dk & to upgrade to the newest radio ROM 4.19 and you can get it from the same web site. I CRUSHED MY Qtek 1010 and nothing can do. Please read my full story to find the correct way to upgrade your Qtek 1010 or any other XDA as an experience of mine.
The fault that I made which crushed my pocket pc is that I upgraded the GSM ROM with out making a hard reset to my device before the upgrading process so that a file confliction happened with other installed programs with the new GSM ROM file while it being uploaded to the GSM ROM. Windows CE OS trying to show up a massage to you but can not done because of the dependent of the OS on the GSM ROM. On other words windows CE phone edition depend on the GSM ROM for operating normally other ways it not going to be steady the OS will stop and trying to load the GSM ROM if fail it will stop at this step. System not crushed yet it stopped to this point and waiting for GSM ROM programming (Program B) to be fixed. It can be fixed by various ways the easiest one is the way I have done.
ATTENTION: BEFORE UPGRADING ALLWAYS BE SURE YOUR DEVICE BATTERY IF FULLY RECHARGED.
Problem :
Qtek 1010 corrupted after Radio Stack Upgrade. Windows CE operate but not normally, just the today screen shows up when pressing the volume button.
Aim :
To fixed the device.
Theory :
When you decide to upgrade your device its highly recommended to perform a full reset (hard reset) to your device after backup your data from the device. Then do the upgrade BUT be so patient, upgrading process take a long time. The following steps show the upgrading process :-
1- Backup your data.
2- Perform a full reset (hard reset).
3- Connect your device with activesync.
4- Run the upgrade setup file.
5- Wait… wait… wait..
6- You may damage your device if you didn’t wait.
7- The device will restart automatically don’t be hurry we didn’t finish yet. Wait..
8- A progress bar shown.. wait till it become 100%. And wait again..
9- The device performs an automatic soft reset.
10- A message dialog appears telling you ROM update is completed successfully.
11- Done.
When something goes wrong don’t panic take it easy and check this :-
1- Perform full reset.
2- Wait to system load.. if it take a very long time perform a soft reset and wait.
3- Press the volume button the system today screen should been shown.
4- Bering a memory card (SD or MMC) are the same for this.
5- Make a directory named by 2577, and copy and autorun.exe into the 2577 directory this program runs automatically when you insert the memory card into its slot. Place a copy of the CAB file of the updating source onto the root directory of the memory card.
\ RSUpgrade.sa.CAB
|----- 2577\
|____ Autorun.exe
6- place the card into the slot. Auto execution going up follow the instructions
7- be patient it will talk a long time.
8- The click tab to start shown, click and wait till the calibration screen shown.
9- Enjoy your device.
The upgrading of the win CE OS is easy and again be patient .
Best regards.

1. Download the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1
2. Install the ROM on your Device via SD-Card and bootloader.
3. The phone should start up and give you the screen allignment and the whole menu!

I have a long fight with USPL and vista, but finally yesterday I won.
All you need to do is:
1. Remove your SD card
2. Do a hard reset or clean storage (some programs like battery status block full access to your device)
3. Connect your mobile to PC and make sure that activsync connection is established
4. Start to flash your device with USPL, when DOS part end and your mobile switch to bootloader mode vista will find new device and start instaling new drivers.
5. Wait till vista finish installing new drivers and unplug your device, do a soft reset
6. Next step is to change vista drivers to xp, to do this you need to fallow this instruction:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
7. After switching the drivers plug your artemis again and install USPL, there should be no more problems with connection lost (errors 260, 270)
8. When USPL instalation will finish you can flash any rom you want to your arte
Succesfully tested on my T-Mobile MDA UK now I've got WM6 WWE.
Thanks pof for your great release

Working great!!!
Used it to upgrade to WM6 (bepe's) and later, GSM (2.93.90)!!
Big
Thank you, this helped me USPL my orbit on vista.
Oh...My...God! That is so cool of you! Many thanks!!!
at step 4: do i stop after the DOS part? Or do i continue with the screen with the big picture of a mobile?
Because after the DOS part vista installs the drivers but i'm not yet in the bootloader screen on my mobile (but i've got a white screen).
at step 6: When i untick "allow USB connections" in the WMDC, my mobile is no longer in the Device Manager list so how can i then change te drivers to the XP drivers?

First put your Artemis into bootloader then connect to your PC. Vista will install a driver for a PDA but this driver is not correct. You can find the correct drivers in the posts above this. After installing the NEW drivers you can reset your artemis and disconnect it from your pc. Restart it and just run USPL again. Has to work now.
Good luck!

Second time flashing, help!
I succesfully flashed my Artemis (after using USPL)... At the moment, I'm tired of my cooked ROM and I would like to install a new ROM. Do I have to use USPL a second time?
Bootloader screen says: SPL 1.11.100 (or something like that...)
Many thanx...
Doesn't work, because Vista says that it is not a Vista driver. How did you all installed the drivers under vista???
cmon uspl gives error code 260
Though I am not new to these ROM upgrading things, I am always receiving error code 260 while trying to update the SPL by cmon uspl. I have already successfully updated by uspl, long ago. I have flashed several ROMs and tried most of them.
Why only cmon uspl is giving me such error?
Guys,
I have a standard O2 Orbit here and I am looking at installing this TouchFLO ROM I've seen on this forum. However I'm a bit worried about bricking my phone.
Can somebody just give me a few steps to follow. I've searched but I have to say I got a bit confused when reading about CID locks etc...
Any help greatly appreciated.
You have to run USPL first (USPL by "Pof")
You will find it at STICKY Section.
Mostly all the ROM here lately allready built in USPL. so it will automatically takes you to the next DSUU windows.
but if you really wants Step by Step:
-----------------------------------
1. Make sure your Activesync is version 4.5 (or Above).
2. Refresh your PC by "RESTART" and enter WindowsXP again (just to make sure your PC running fresh).
3. Refresh your PDA by "Soft reset" your PDA, wait until finish (just to make sure your PC running fresh).
4. Make sure you have 80% or more Battery.
5. Connect your device to PC via activesync using USB only.
6. wait until "connected" or "Syncronized".
7. Enter folder USPL.
8. Double click "start_uspl.exe" (small yellow ball icon).
9. Black screen will appears... start uploading 10%..20%.... until 100%
10. Update windows will appear... Follow instruction by clicking "NEXT" or tick "YES I AGREE..bla bla" check box.
11. The progress bar will appear... wait until Finish.
12. Do not unplug the USB cable or your PDA become brick.
13. When finish your PDA Restart itself... and normally enter the today screen.
14. If not working try it again from Step: 5 (sometimes need to try more than one)
13. If your PDA restart itself and Show the SPL number is changes then CONGRATULATIONS you have finish install the USPL.
Next step is to Upgrade your ROM using DSUU (its on the ROM folder)
14. install DSUU is simple just double click "ROMUpdateUtility.exe"
15. Update windows will appear & follow instructions.
I Hope it helps..
best regards,
Wens
I'm assuming it won't differ if I'm using Vista as my client and not Win XP?
Also, is it possible to do this Via Bluetooth as my bloody USB cable isn't working correctly!
Vista not using Activesync, but WDMC
you can download at microsoft Website.
Upgrade ROM only can be done using USB cable. other won't work.
Good Luck!
- Install Windows Mobile Device Center 6 for Windows Vista
- On your artemis launch Bootloader and connect with your PC using usb cable. (For bootloader press Voice Dial + On/off button at the same time till you see a multi colored screen)
- Do exactly what the tutorial describe here: http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
- Your driver is changed so you can cid unlock your artemis now, do this by using USPL. (download below + manual). Remember to use the same usb port where you changed the driver from, otherwise the connection get lost and you have a update error.
- You can now search for a cooked rom of your choice and simply flash it by running the RUU.exe.
I did Slider's
...I followed the instructions but after step 9
(9. Black screen will appears... start uploading 10%..20%.... until 100%) nothing happened on my phone.
Any ideas. No "Next" or anything...the update rom utility just fired off (running the USPL from the Touch Rom directory
the prob seems to be vista......
or it could be the o2 offical WM6 rom
mine will upload the offical O2 rom but everything else fails.
people tell me im doing it wrong but have followed the driver swap step by step on 2 diff vista machines with no joy.
just borrow somebodyelse Windows XP Machines.. that'll do.
So my HTC Blackstone is going crazy.I changed battery & touch screen and after that cam went crazy.I saw all kinds of colou's on cam but that's not a problem because I use it rarely. What bothers me is that I locked myself out of it.I was setting up screen password early in morning and I don't know what did I typed in.How can I solve this???
I'm thinking to flash it but when I was looking at flashing instructions I saw that I need to Sync it with my computer in Windows Mobile Device Center. But I cant sync it since I cant log into the system.I installed all drivers on my PC and when I connect it via USB it detects it automatically.
I wanted to reset HTC to factory defaults but I cant I did Hard Reset but when I do it I come to that 3 color screen and cant go further than that.
When HTC is disconnected and I'm in 3 color screen on the bottom it says "Serial",when I connect it to USB it says USB.
So basically I'm stuck and I need advice, what to do???
Can I flash it without sync it with Windows Mobile Device Center???
Or is there other way around this problem!
Thank you in advance for your help! :good:
For flashing a new ROM, there is no need to sync with Windows Mobile Device Center. However, you will need Microsoft .Net 3.5 SP1 to connect to Blackstone. I am guessing you are using Vista or Win 8, so you may have to do a separate install for it.
I recommend that you use a ROM from this thread, which is the most updated on this website. I am using it, and it is very stable. I had used the Android version, and it is user and finger friendly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719627
Caution: Make sure Blackstone has at least 70% battery-life
Step 1. Update HSPL to 1.56 Olinex
1a. You will need to update the HSPL (effectively, unlocking your phone) to 1.56 Olinex. Follow the instructions found in the above thread, under a heading:
Dummies guide flashing 1.56+ roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
1b. Follow the instructions very strictly. It can get tricky, but it is worth the effort.
Step 2. Download custom ROM
2a. Go to the Download site, and in Mediafire site, go to the folder:
0.77_WM_653_WEH_Orange_ROM
2b. Inside the folder, you will find this ROMs for download, for example:
ORANGE ROM [1-October-2013] - 0.77 [Full - Cookie 2.0_Android] WM6.5.3 WEH.zip
2c. Download this file and extract the files.
BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe
RUU_Signed.nbh
2d. Copy the "RUU_Signed.nbh" file to the Root of your Blackstone microSD and rename it to "BLACIMG.NBH. Do not insert it into Blackstone yet.
Step 3. Wipe existing Blackstone ROM
3a. Reboot your Blackstone to Tri-color screen and connect to PC by USB.
3b. On PC, run the program "BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe". Select Task 29 do it. This will do a clean wipe of the Blackstone ROM (which you said has been corrupted.
3c. Once the Task 29 is completed,
Switch off Blackstone.
Disconnect USB cable from Blackstone.
Insert the microSD (with the BLACIMG.NBH file) to your Blackstone.
Step 4. Install custom ROM
4a. Switch on your Blackstone to Tri-color mode.
Very shortly, you will come to a screen to ask if you want to update the ROM file.
Press the Power button to update
4b. The rest of the update will be done automatically.
