I just purchased a tmobile wing off ebay, that the seller claimed was "unlocked" so I could use it with cingular's network. Well I recieved the phone today and it was NOT unlocked. So to cut to the chase, can someone link me up, or tell me how to unlock it? Iam not a tmobile customer, so that is not an option, I've tried google searching for over 3 hours, every site wants money, and Ive even read about some of them not working, any help is appreciated.
The phone is probably CID unlocked, NOT SIM unlocked. A CID unlock means that you can install third party firmware.
I haven't tried unlocking my phone, so unfortunately, I can't help you there. The only thing I can think of is to call the guy you bought it from and ask him to call tmobile and get the unlock code. Sorry.
Just a thought but you can try this. If it doesn't work you have the disk to reload the phone. follow the directions to flash your wing to wm6.1. insert your cingular sim before you start the load. When it flashes and looks for a provider, should auto configure for cingular. Just a thought. Not sure if it will work.
Unlocked mine via http://www.imei-check.co.uk/heraldunlock.php
26 euro but works 100%
i would talk to the seller and possibly leave negative feedback if he isn't helpful.
you bought the phone because it was unlocked, if it truly is than he should make sure it works for you.

Is the Sim Unlock Available for Wing
Is the Sim Unlock available for Wing Now or still not. Any help will be really appreciated.
No. it's been 2 days! haha
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SIM UNLOCK THE PHONE FOR FREE.
Have a T-Mobile user put their SIM card into the phone and call 611 from the phone. Go to Customer Service and inform them that you will be leaving the country and would like to unlock the phone so you can use international prepaid SIM cards to call your aunts and uncles in *insert non-US country here*. They will give you the unlock code for the phone.
This will only work if the T-Mobile user has had the T-Mobile service for more than 30 days. If you are able, have your brother do it from his SIM card since he had the phone previously.
Thanks for the advice. Works!
Ok, just for conversation. Lets say I want to get a new wing with my equipment protection from Tmo. Does a SIM unlock on my old wing make it useable for others?
Equipment protection? Huh? Are you talking about getting it replaced with the insurance? and giving your old one to someone else?
When the phone is locked, it ONLY works under T-mobile.
When the phone is unlocked, it will work with any carrier, ie TMO, ATT, etc..
How about Vodafone NL..
Is there any free solution to sim unlock it ..?
Anyone with a Herald/Atlas or any of its variants ... are all in the same boat. There's no free unlock solution as of yet.
AT&T and T-mobile both have the same policy on unlocks:
- Account must have existed for at least 3 months
- Must not have had an unlock request within the last 3 months
- (Generally) Must be outside the Buyer's Remorse period (30 days)
- Must not be one of the 'special' phones (Sidekick, iPhone)
If the Wing is an upgrade to your existing service, you can get it unlocked after 30 days.
New customers must wait 90 days.
Simple workaround: If you know someone on T-Mobile with an available unlock (one per 90 days, remember), you can just give them the IMEI number, make & model, and they can unlock it from there. They do not check if you're calling from that phone -- but the phone must still belong to the carrier/be branded with that carrier
SO if my phone is "lost" and i get a new phone. Is myold wing good to go for someone else?

Is someone working on unlock for Herald???
Hello,this is my 1st post,so HI!
Anyways I just got a Tmobile wing hera110 at a yardsale for like 15$,I was soo happy till I put my at&t sim card in and it is asking me for a code, and after 3 days searching online,i have tried calling tmobile 2 diff times but since I am not a tmobile customer they wont help me.They suggested I call HTC so I did and they said that they where in contract with tmobile and can't/ won't provide the code to me.so they suck
also I don't know anyone who has a Tmobile account who could help me with this,if I did then I'd be set already.
So my only option left is to buy a code somewhere online,my question is,does anyone know a cheap, safe place where I can pay to unlock this phone?Again its a Tmobile HERA110 aka wing,I know that not all online phone unlocking sites are legit,I am just trying to find one that is not that expensive, preferably 19-20$,and not a scam.
Thanks,1shot2
i have unlocked one just now with a code from gsmliberty for $29. It unlocked the phone, but i tried with a simcard from ATT, it gets signal, recieve calls, but it dont make calls, then i tried with a claro simcard, and it wont get signal. The tmobile simcard works just good.
A friend of mine has an x10 by vodafone. He recently bought it from their store. He also bought a unlockcode by vodafone (legal). So good, so far!
BUT - when he entered another simcard in the phone to start the unlockprocedure - he put in the pincode instead of the unlockcode. (he is not that technical). After 5 times of trying the phone is now locked for unlocking. One says the phone has now to be unlocked by software meyhod and can not be unlocked by code anymore.
Softwaremethod is not available. Can someone give me any advise how to handle to get the option back to put in the unlockcode again?!
flashing? anything else?
Take it back to the store and get them to do it, if they can't use a simple unlock code then I can't see them being any good with a software method.
sounds like its been accidentally locked you need a PUK key to unlock it ....(if its not stolen..not saying it is!) then the service provider should supply this PUK override code to allow you to change it to a more easiky remembered code

It sucks to see people having problems with unlocking their phones...but wait! here's you're lucky day Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731240&page=4 and go to post #38 and you'll find the answer. I was one of them who got the phone for a week, tried almost all of the online remote unlocking services and didn't work, bought the manufacturer's code and entered it too many times that the phone counter-blocked itself. Anyway...long story short, I was able to unlock my phone with HTCCode.com. I don't have anything to do with their website, but they were the only place that could unlock my phone, and trust me I had three other buddies from this forum that had the same problem but unlocked the phone with them. If you have any problems, pm and I'll try to help. You should read the thread I sent you first and you'll understand, but if you can't wait, click on the link on post #38 and talk to HTCCode directly. They are friendly and very helpful. Good luck buddy, give me feedback too
I have an HTC Surround that is for AT&T, and I'm with T-Mobile. Is there anyway to unlock for T-Mobile? I was doing some looking around on the forums and I found that you can but I'm not to sure on how to do it. I had flashed a rom by ansar that had an unlock on it, but it didn't work. So would I have to get on pre-NoDo? If so could you link me the downloads and or give me some sort of tutorial that tells you hwo to do it, because I have yet to find any tutorial on unlocking the HTC Surround.
Thank you!
Call AT&T 800-331-0500
Give them a landline phone number or any other non-AT&T phone number so they don't try to associate the phone with an account.
Tell them you won the phone in a contest (I did, from Microsoft at a conference) or procured it in some other way than buying off ebay/craigslist/friend - this way they won't be able to ask what account it used to be on.
Tell them you want it SIM unlocked They'll "research it" and should get back to you with one in a couple weeks via email.
So once its sim unlocked, no matter what you do. Like upgrade or hard reset. The sim unlock remains?
Hi guys,
I've recently purchased and S7 Edge thinking that it would be easy to unlock and use in Canada. The phone isn't on any blacklist that I can find and I've contacted T-Mobile and they said no problem for the unlock using the app. But every time I try the app to unlock it based on the email from T-Mobile the app says unlock failed: device is permanently unlocked. But none of my SIM cards work.
I'm wondering if I was to flash it to a Canadian carriers ROM would the device then work with a carrier here or would it still somehow be locked to T-Mobile?
Looking for some advice on what maybe I can do here. Love the phone but it's useless unless I can get a SIM to work.

Locking/Unlocking is not dependable on which firmware your phone is. If your phone is locked/unlocked no matter what you flash it will stay the same. The unlocking process with the app, you will need a Tmobile sim in the first place to do it. After that, you will need to turn off your phone and introduce the non-tmobile sim. When you introduce the non-tmobile sim, do you get a sim unlock message?
One thing that I noticed (I have 2 Tmobile S7 edge at the moment) is the unlocking app is not that accurate or Tmobile servers not up to date. I had a fully paid Tmobile that showed for months my phone was not eligible for unlocking, then one day that I decided to try it again and it showed it was unlocked.
It's weird because at one point it said it was unlocked.... But still wouldn't work... I've called t-mobile 3 times now and have gotten the different answers. First time no problem, will send you to the unlock team... They said use the app, to no avail. Next time, there's a balance owing on the phone you can't and you need an unlock code too, third time oh we'll do it just need to get you the unlock code....
Needless to say I never got an unlock code. And even though I checked the blacklist before getting it, t-mobile keeps their own so it may have a balance owing according to their site. Media device it is then I guess.
