ok newb question...
if i unlock 8525 and use on tmo(usa) will data only be edge or does the 3g roam networks? I know i can make my phones use cingular towers as preffered, but is this possible with 3g?
If not i'll be stuck with edge til tmo upgrades themselves. and since i have never had 3g speeds, i wont notice anything.

Just got my upgraded 3G sim today and essentially im just wondering if im better off leaving it on the GSM band.
Under the GSM band I always seem to have excellent reception under UTMS the bars keep ranging from 2-4. I only got the sim upgrade cos it was free and so I could occasionally utilise the 3G data network, im just wondering though would it be better for battery life if I just manually switched networks when I want to use the 3G features.
What do you think?

I have the t-mobile wing... and i remember reading that tmo is going to rolling out its 3g network by this summer. can n e one tell me is the wing capable of connecting to this 3g network or with i have to get a new phone?
need a new phone t-mobile's 3g network runs on 1700mhz none of their smartphone as of the moment use that band, i know your pain, my girl has the wing and i have the shadow, neither are going to work on it
Is there any update out there to allow the Wing to access 3G? When I tether my wing to my laptop, sometimes I get 3g speeds and others I don't. Is there an update that will allow us consistant access?
Tmobile 3g.... No, completly different band, no hardware support.
ATT 3g..... Perhaps you would need to unlock it and try an ATT sim
you can't get 3g at all on the wing. 3g is based on a hardware radio, and the hardware radio that we have only supports edge and gprs. If you want 3g, you will have to get a different phone, one with an actual 3g radio. By 3g speeds on your laptop, that just means "unusually fast"
I was hoping there was a software or firmware update that would allow us access to the 3G band. I was sure if it was out there you guys would know.
Where i live there is only edge service, but yet they claim largest 4g and there barley 3g, i have a hd2 with froyo 2.2 is there a way to force it to roam on ATT 3g network, it bounces on and off it on my way to work but it wont stick, when i atempt to set it it tells me the sim card cant register, but i wanna force it roaming not the main registration. Is this possible or does anyone know if there gunna do a update to 3g on there network?

There is NO way to use most hd2's on att's 3g network. The phone is not capable of it. Even if tmobile allowed 3g roaming on att, your phone just can't see it. I have roamed on att's 2g network occasionally though.
I have seen it roam to att 3g while driving and it works! But it dont last long
No, it doesn't. It can SEE ATT 3G, but it cannot connect to it. You where recieving EDGE speeds at best.
I read today that AT&T is planning to shut down their 2G towers by 2016. I'm wondering if other network providers are doing the same thing. If so, of course, any old Wizards won't be able to get online over the cell network. I don't use my Wizard often anymore, but still I'm sad.
