Sport Tracker? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi, Does anyone know of a really good sports type gps tracker software?
I'm a keen cyclist and i'm sure there are lots of other outdoor types who would welcome a good, easy to use application with a full feature set. Samsung have just launched a phone with this in mind, Nokia already have one so it must be a growing market.
I had a Nokia N80 and downloaded Their Sports Tracker application and it was great. Just the stuff you needed - Timers, average speed, max/min speed, altitude, climing speed etc, even took out standing time (i think). You could upload to google maps if you wanted which was fine but not essential.
The Samsung mentioned earlier has music too geared to your activity.
I've tried lots of PPC apps like tracky and trackme and GPS tuner but the just dont seem to fit the bill, they are either too heavy and complicated and use too much memory or they are too simple with not enough usefull data.
I'm really suprised Windows mobile haven't got a better app for this - or maybe there is and I just don't know it yet.
Any Ideas - suggestions?
Roger

i agree, Nokia's Sports Tracker is GREAT !! no WM application can do that kind of stuff for now for FREE !!
so developers here is niche app to develop and get famous !

I think run.gps is really great, but it's not free.

Hi, do you only check for free app ?
If not you can try Run.GPS, very nice and perfect for many sports !

Pocket Calculus for windows mobile ?

Hi guys, i want to ask if there's anyone have pocket calculus software or any Pocket software for school for windows mobile. My phone is htc 8525 wm6. thank you very muchh.
Check these out!
There are some great applications out there that should fit your calculus solving needs.
Check out Virtual TI Pocket Emulator version 2.4B. I use it for Calculus and physics all the time and it's almost rock solid. Sometimes when punching in numbers, it hangs but otherwise it emulates my TI-89 extremely well. The only things that might be a bit difficult to find are the ROMs, but you can dump one from your own calculator if you have the data cable.
1-Calc lite is decent as well, but is lacking in some of the advanced features that you might like such as graphing and derivatives.
Let us know here how well those work for you
The BEST solution for calculas, graphing or anything similar is Spacetime... although it isnt free... but google it n check it out.
thank you very much guys

what is the best GPS software?

Hi everyone,
this has probably already have been discussed before but i can't find a good answer to that question.
so what is the best GPS software with offline maps that run on the titan
i am currently running dcd 4.1.2 with nothing installed so i have the maximum available memory.
Oh and the price does not matter to me as far as the program is good !
i was using tomtom and my friend that have a raphael is using OCN8 but i tried it and im always short on memory
thx a lot !
garmin xt is the best
thx a lot ! it look very nice
does it run smoothly on the titan?

Very much so... Works well, keeps position well, speed seems to jump a bit more (+/- 1.5mph) than TomTom did. Both are very good but I prefer Garmin XT these days for a couple reasons.
Garmin will tell you that your destination is on the right or left side of the road TomTom didn't. Garmin has Fuel price finder, weather data, and Airport info - TomTom doesn't.
Can't really go wrong with either....
my personal FAvorite is TomTom Natigator 7.45 w/ custom voice C3PO directing you, and Mart Kart as my custom pointer I wish there was a professional sounding "Super Mario".. As for maps, I live in the US and TomTom works great.. I pay the $25/yr and get the live traffic updates (I have an unlimited data plan). I live in Milwaukee and we get rush hour traffic most evenings (and mornings) and you can set up TomTom to auto re-route a faster way.. it updates the traffic every 10 min I think..
I also tried iGo, and was not impressed. It seemsto me to be very unstable (Took me 4 tries just to get it INSTALLED properly, and I am a PC Tech by profession) Once it was installed, I would have lockup issues atleast 1 out of ever 2 or 3 times I used it.... From what I read, others have this same problem.
Google Maps, well, it is free and legal if you have a data plan... but besides that..... lol If I jsut have it on in the background in my dash, I will turn on the google maps with the google earth overlay, so it looks sort of like when there is a car chase on the news by how it follows you
But overall, in the US, I would go with TomTom
ill give a stab...
I hang out with a massive group of guys from offroading mud trucks to race cars and car clubs.. so I was able to test what others had as they all wanted to know which is the best and what to go with..
all I can say is after using each one... there is NO ONE that does it all..
first it is about the feel, look and functions...
ill give a short list of the couple I liked and pro's cons on each.. I am pulling this off of memory as I dont own them but thinking about it.... just not sure which to buy...
iGuidance 2009
- This one was my favorite
Pros -
Quick gps fix
ease of choosing a route
nice voice with speach for navigation (tts is it called??)
Can set gps settings manually
Points of interests had everything I looked for
Large buttons when looking for address
ease of adding location to favorites
ease of saving favorites with custom names
Cons:
no online weather
no online traffic
no online points of interests updates
Cant change car icon
dont think you can change voices
no breadcrumb trails
TomTom
Pros -
Quick gps fix
ease of choosing a route
nice voice with speach for navigation (tts is it called??)
Can set gps settings manually
Points of interests had everything I looked for
online traffic
online points of interests updates
seperate dunkin donuts locator - THIS WAS SAWEET!!!!!
change car icon
change voices - yoda, mr t were funny
ease of saving location
Cons:
no online weather - dont remember seeing that one
no breadcrumb trails
Garmin Mobile XT
Pros -
Quick gps fix
ease of choosing a route
Can set gps settings manually
online weather - really nice and you can choose the city!!!
online traffic - really nice as it lists all streets near you
change car icon - only to 3 it seemed... but hell had a lifted truck so i was in
Google Local search - for alot of things and really didnt use it much but looked good
Fuel prices - gives local prices and drive to... this was really nice and accurate for the most part... and can sort (price from lowest is what it sorted) and told you distance.. but one gas station was closed down (not even physically there anymore)
flight status... really really really cool.. showed landed, in flight and scheduled!!!!
Cons:
Points of interests had everything I looked for although some were not easy to find making this a con
voice with speach for navigation - didnt sound as clear as the other 2.. bit choppy
no online points of interests updates
dont think you can change voices
buttons a bit small for touch screen
no breadcrumb trails
couldnt set gps manually.. i couldnt find any settings button to change it... will most likely use the default internal settings so cant use with gps gate
none had breadcrumb trails that can be exported to say google maps... I want this to map where I have been offroading....
Garmin POI transportation was tricky to find the train i take to work... Patco - Lindenwold was there.. but the other 2 found it easier... it was frustrating
so out of those 3 I liked iGuidance the best for look, feel and funcionality..
however Garmin Mobile XT seemed to have more online features that are pretty handy (i dont fly much so flights not important to me)....
since Garmin had Traffic and weather.. it was nice....
tomtom having the dunkin donuts is a life savor as myself and wife love DD coffee... so to have that was cool....
I just cant see buying all 3.. as they each have their own nice features....
Summer is upon us again (but been raining soooo much) but when i get back with the guys.. I wanna see who got anything new... one guy is using the HP 310 GPS for GPS, Movies, music, etc..... maybe he will let me take that for a bit....
hope this helps some of ya..
I also didnt mention mapopolis... it was pretty cheesy looking, worked but dont think it is available anymore.. but also did breadcrumbs
ones that didnt make the list as i didnt get to see them but know they exist..
copilot
street atlas - looked cheesy
Pocket streets
Delorme street atlas
memory map

also this one is looking good...
PocketMap r4
http://www.pocketmap.com/navigator.html
I've used 2004 Delorme and IG.
hands down IG kicks it's butt.
The Delorme was so difficult to use while in a car, the GPS antenna that came with it was a joke and wasn't very accurate.
The screen layout of IG is 10x better.
But, keep in mind that nothing is 100% yet on any of them.
Actually, TomTom does have online weather, as well as online gasoline prices if you are willing to pay for it

Free turn-by-turn voice guided navigation for Windows 6.x phones, by Bing Map

My first thread. Hope it's not a report. Credit SD
Free turn-by-turn voice guided navigation for Windows 6.x phones, powered by Bing Maps, for owners with a Windows phones on Sprint, T-Mobile, or AT&T. Bing will calculate your route, and guide you as you drive. You can select the fastest or shortest route, choose to avoid traffic and/or tolls, get a map or a list of directions, and see arrows and hear alerts to know which way to turn next. The navigation feature is compatible with the phones below:
•HTC Fuze
•HTC Pure
•HTC HD2
•HTC Tilt 2
•HTC Touch Diamond 2
•HTC Touch HD
•HTC Touch Pro
•HTC Touch Pro 2
•Motorola Q9c
•Samsung Jack
•Samsung Omnia II
•Samsung Propel
•T-Mobile Dash 3G
How to install it (your phone should have data plan in order to use it):
1.On your phone, open your web browser and go to m.bing.com
2.Click on "Download Bing App" to download and install the app (or download directly fromhttp://mobile.search.live.com/client/download_manual.aspx to install manually)
3.After installing the app, go to Start menu and click on "Bing"
4.Select "Direction"
5.Enter addresses and select "Navigate"
This is an update to the previous Bing cab. It auto updates if you run the old one. Looks like a good update. Similar to Google Maps. Looks like a good update.
I was never really a user of Bing, until yesterday. I never really liked the interface and the usibility of MS apps, they tend to be very utilitarian and clunky. Sort of like 80% apps, they are almost good, but not quite.
That is until I tried this new version of Bing. I don't know about the rest of it, but the maps and the navigation is 100%. Sure its not TomTom or iGo, and you need a data connection (so no wandering the back roads of montana) but it is an excellent FREE altinative especially for city driving.
It loads fast, it looks good, it READS THE STREET NAMES, and it will get you there. So if you are off in an area you are not familliar with, and you are looking for an address, this program will certainly get you there.
You don't have to have nearly 1GB of SD card space taken by maps either. For the power traveler who is always on the go and always navigating, then this may not be for you. But for the other 90% of us, who have to go to Aunt Sally's house, and you have not been there in 20 years... this will do the job, and do it well.
It also pulls addresses from your contacts, it allows you to do voice search and then it will navigate you to the location of your choice. Also, traffic data is on by default (I think, but its there either way). The routing options are a little limited, but they include shortest, fastest, no tolls and account for traffic delays in calculating route (interesting option I have not had the chance to try).
i have the tmo tp2 with energy rom on it and i can't get it to work it is installed and the gps map works but nothing else does??? it says " sorry, we can't complete your search. please check your connection and try again." but i have 3g running and two to three signal bars. what the problem what wrong????
I have the same phone and am running the latest NRG ROM with Cookie (see signature). The update worked in my ROM as does the latest version of Bing... You might try updating to the same version I'm running or reflashing and reapplying the update...
If you want a good, free, turn by turn nav solution the pain of reflashing is worth it I think
nice, i will try this app, never used bing before...
I've played with the nav feature since it was released and... as much as its a great improvement and I will use it from time to time it's still not as good as the google maps navigator for android.... and still couldn't replace something like tomtom. These free programs are going to very soon make gps programs like tomtom pointless though...
I'm gonna have to disagree with you. It can and has replaced TomTom for me. I ran TT7 on my old Tilt for a long time. The bing search is much more powerful and better than TT. TT does some things well but Bing is more well rounded. Plus there's no way I'm shelling out the cash for TT maps when this is free. The voice guidance leaps it in front of WM Google Maps as well. It's probably only just gonna get better as well. It's pretty good right now though.

Its not as good as hiring a local guide who can come and drive your car for you either. Ultimately that is not the point.
Android (and iPhone) may be good devices, but this program is for windows mobile, so it is only fair to compare it to windows mobile options. If you read my mini review I mentioned that it would be good for light around town navigating. For example, I was traveling a few weeks ago, and I was really craving something other than McDonalds to eat. I decide on Chipoltle, but since they are not as common as McD I needed to search for them. I first loaded google maps and did a search. Found one a few miles away. Due to the confusing roads, and the heavy traffic, I wanted voice navigation rather than just following a line on the screen. So I had to write the address down on a piece of paper, then loaded iGo and keyed the address in and let it guide me to my dinner.
This new version of Bing would have done that all in one step. With the additional possibility to direct you based on traffic volumes (I was in suburban Washington DC, that feature could have been HUGE for me).
Google's flagship software on their OS should be great, and if they had a equivalent program on the WM platform then it would be a fair comparison. Personally this integration of contacts, maps, and directions, along with real time traffic brings the mobile phone to a whole new level of effective. Now if they could work weather into the mix (like radar imagery over the map, all in the same program) it would be perfect. (I live in an area where it could be snowing very heavily 1 mile down the road, and you would never know it or predict it without checking the radar)
My main issue with it... the turn screen comes on over the entire map screen and shows the name of the street you are gonna turn on, and a big arrow indicating the type of turn. It does not seem like it goes away until after the turn. I for one would like the know that info then go back to the map so I can see the route in reference to the other roads around. It has a hide button on the left softkey, but that is kinda annoying to have to do on repeated turns.
edit: All I can say is that my wife's first smart phone, and this easy to use bing software just game me the need to buy a window mount for the phone in her car.
Used it today for the first time. I've been a long time Garmin user and I still like the UI better of garmin but bing gets rid of the lag. It was very accurate where as with garmin I have about a 1 second delay.
Wish garmin would release a newer version fixing the lag issue. overall though I was very impressed with the capability of the free bing app.

I'd really say the only thing I like more about tomtom and other gps programs like it are the 3d views.... That's about it. The UI of tomtom I have always liked best but thats sort of something for each person to decide on their own. This only has a straight up google like map that has the turn directions pop up. Plain yes, handy, definatly... Crazy it took them this long to impliment something like that if you ask me
That said, I wasnt meaning to give a straight up comparision to something not even available for wm (google navigator) but google navigator IS coming to windows mobile and they said that it will more or less look identical accross all platforms (android, WM and Iphone OS) So... comparing them in the light that it will be here... well.... that I dont really think is stepping that far out of line.
For scooting around town for sure this can be a great tool. Especially the fact that you can speak your destination and have it navigate there. Something that tomtom has yet to impliment in there wm aps. Navigon does voice navigation, or at least used to when I used it on my phone years ago, but if I recall correctly you could only speak directions to names of people or places you yourself saved in so for sure points go to bing navigator for that feature. That's why I said aps like this are going to make the stand along gps programs like tomtom and garmin and the sort ancient history! As much of a step up this feature is it's only going to get better. As soon as they add in the 3d map view that tomtom, garmin, google navigator etc I'll be using the program every day!

Despite my snotty response, I would be thrilled to see Google Navigator come to the WM platform. I like the fact that Google and Microsoft are taking shots at each other in this "maps war" Ultimatly WE all win. If I am not navigating I like google maps. I keep it on and use it just for seeing where I am at the moment and to see traffic. I like the visual look of the google maps better and the road construction information is great too. But the navigating is a whole ton better on the new Bing.
I really want to like Waze. I really tuely do. I like the idea of driving down streets that I can see that no one else has gone down. I like adjusting my route to get one of the prize locations. However, the stability of the program is very poor. I get crashes once in every 2 or 3 uses.
From what I have seen Google Navigator takes the voice navigation and puts it onto the google maps, and for me that would be the perfect solution... IF it lives up to the promise.
Bing is a great step in the right direction. Sure there are features that are missing now BUT the improvement is a night and day difference. Can't wait to get other features (gas prices, etc). Also, an off-line mode would be amazing. Giving users the ability to download map information in advance for those rural trips (we are heading to North Idaho next month) would be a great option. 99% of the time I have a data connection but when I don't ... that's probably the time I need GPS the most

What Android Can't Do But WinMo Can -- an Android Lover's Thread

I now view my HD2 as "An Android Phone That Also Boots Windows", because there are some daily driver Android builds that I think do a better job now than winmo, so maybe knowing what unsolvable Android issues are solved by windows will improve the Android experience and save hours of searching the Market. I would recommend someone buy an HD2 for Android, but keep these windows apps around as an "android add on pack" just to increase the 'cool factor.'
1.) Movie Maker: with TrakAx movie maker you can make and edit videos on your hd2 and add music photos etc, with cool transitions. It has limited fonts for captions, but it's a good movie maker. The app is fun to use 'only after' you watch TrakAx's tutorial video on their website where a cute English Gal shows you how easy it is.
2.) Movies/TV via your Orb Server that look great and have fast forward and rewind: Coreplayer on winmo is a great media player, with .mkv support, .avi and when used in combo with TCPMP player there are almost no formats that can't be played.
3.) TomTom, Navigon, Igo8, Route66 offline navigation apps: Maybe you want to have a 32gb sdcard and run all the different nav programs? Nav programs seem to be a matter of personal preference, so having ALL available options is something nice.
4.) Fast psx emulation with FPSeCe: If you love psx games watch some youtubes on how to set this up and where to get the good versions and skins of this, and the onscreen controls are multi-touch good if you watch the videos and research how to set it up.
5.) Opera Mini 5 (build 5.1.21594): INCREDIBLY smooth browsing: the inertial scrolling with this browser is so fluid, fast and natural - there is no jitter/chop/lag - the fps is very high. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486502
6.) Free Hamachi: I think you need to pay for logmein hamachi on the Market (worth it for sure) but there are free clients in WinMo that work very well. If you 'need' to save money here you go.
7.) Free Grooveshark downloading: I love Tiny Shark and MP3 downloader off the market, but in winmo a developer named 'SciLor' has made a great freeware grooveshark downloader called "SciLor's GrooveMobile Downloader." what's also great about this app is that winmo's media players and coreplayer can play the song 'when it begins downloading,' which means Coreplayers graphic equalizer can work that tune 5-10 seconds after you click 'download.'
8.) Torrent Downloading on the phone: I haven't yet found an android app that does what WMTorrent does. WMTorrent is a paid app and there is a new and older version that both have their strengths. Don't expect full speed on wifi or 3g like on a pc, but this app does the job.
9.) Super Tethering via 'ICS Control v0.21': freeware that allows cel->bluetooth pan .. cel -> wifi .. bluetooth->wifi .. wifi->bluetooth .. bluetooth->vpn .. vpn->hamachi .. openvpn->usb. Basically, any interface can be routed to any other interface and subnets and dhcp servers can be added.
10.) Mortscript: 'Tasker' and 'gscript' in Android could be considered better in many ways, but Mortscript was/is a powerful and accessible scripting program for a mobile OS to automate tasks, make apps do cool stuff, enable long-chains of opening apps cutting/pasting/into other apps etc. I turned my old q9h into a 'talking/listening star trek phone' with mortscript by combining 'vlingo's returned speech results' with 'textspeech pro's tts program,' i could verbally ask it to read wikipedia pages for me or read the first couple pages of a spoken google search - and my programming skill is almost zero.
11.) Microsoft Voice Command: it's not as robust as what Android offers, but I don't think there is an Android app that is so 'instantly accurate with basic phone functions,' but then again the list of what MSVC can do in 2 seconds is a little more than basic. Android will catch up in a month or two no doubt.
12.) RemoteTracker phone finder: Android has phone finder apps, but if you lose your phone there is a chance that the sdcard is gonna get wiped. There is also the chance that the the phone will get hard-reset too, but before that happens RemoteTracker freeware is solid.
13.) Run Windows 98se faster on Winmo's Qemu: Windows 98 Second Edition can run on the hd2 reasonably well now, and some devs on XDA recently have been more active in getting different flavors of it to run even better and progress looks set to continue. This requires the 'qemu' emulator for winmo and a backwards-reading of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com
/showthread.php?t=637889&page=50 (I'm gonna try this right now)
14.) Gestures on any screen with any app: I installed LMT v0.8 onscreen multitouch gestures and I'm very impressed. By swiping left with 2 fingers I activate microsoft voice command, by swiping right with 2 fingers I launch TellMeExpertLauncher.exe and do bing searches (this takes less than 2 seconds from swipe to speak). These are just 14 of the customizable gestures that LMT can do, and it can do them on top of any app, even the camera or a movie, etc. This app also comes with a bonus "on screen game controller" that's multitouch and works great.
15.) Reverse-Bluetooth-Tethering: Lets say you want to pop your sim into another phone, but still have internet/voip on your hd2 via low power bluetooth tethering. Well, noone needs to do that really, but I actually do it a few days a week because I have an 'almost' dirty job where I use a very weather/work resistant q9h and I have it feed the hd2 internet through bluetooth when on break or in the truck.
THINGS MENTIONED IN THIS THREAD BY OTHER MEMBERS:
A.) Good E-Book Readers: like Alreader2, it's felt by some that all Android E-Book readers lack a certain something, though CoolReader comes close.
B.) Good Alarm Programs: like G-Alarm, some reviews praise it for having tons of alarms and features and varying snooze techniques like mazes or 'turning on a light' to activate the light sensor, and it's supposedly very easy to work all this stuff via a finger friendly today-screen plugin if you like.
C.) SPB Mobile Shell: a very elegant and nice UI for WinMo that sets a classic standard for many users.
D.) Office Mobile 2010: I myself have gone searching for office apps in the market a few times and I've been surprised that I DID NOT have immediate success finding good free office apps that were better than Office 2010. NOTE: Using 'BsB Tweaks' free app to add 'screen rotation' to excel and the other office apps might be a good idea.
E.) Cookies Home Tab Editor: HTC Sense on hd2 winmo is 'excellent,' but what takes it to a whole new level is Cookie's Home Tab Editor for making customizing your homescreen 'fun+productive.' When investing time choosing a good ROM to boot android, keeping CHT in mind might make HD2 a more enjoyable weapon of total annihilation.
F.) File encryption with FreeOTFEPDA: This is something I should be more proactive with, and on page 3 it's explained further, but my brother is 'security bent' and he is always upset at me for 'not encrypting my files.'
G.) rSAP Bluetooth Profile for VW/Audi Group Cars: Integrated bluetooth calling and contacts management in these cars requires what the HD2 has - rSAP Bluetooth Profile. Want your car to turn into your phone just by sitting in it? Also, some premium sound systems exist in these cars and I've read the connection to the HD2 is quite stable. (I had to read what rSAP is)
H.) Hide Your Caller ID Number To Strangers: someone brought up a good point that in winmo you can shield your caller ID from everyone except those in your contacts list. (I didn't know this)
I) Garmin XT: We all know Garmin - a clean running and reliable 'offline nav' app with maps that are always up to date. (I have this myself on an old q9h I keep in the glove compartment - shoulda remembered it earlier.)
What are other good things to know?
Igo8 works just fine in android.
I write in the spirit of love but I gotta take issue with some of your points:
1.) Movie Maker: Can't comment as I don't use, mainly as I'll always do this on a PC
2.) Movies/TV via your Orb Server: Thing is, I could never get this working easily on WinMo, but for me it works flawlessly on Android, using the default Web Browser to select the file, and then default video player or VPlayer to play.
3.) TomTom, Navigon, Igo8, Route66 offline navigation apps: Agree, I keep WinMo around purely for TomTom (and booting )
4.) Fast psx emulation with FPSeCe: Wow, PSX4Droid works so perfectly out of the box for me, and with RomBuddy I can even download the games direct to my Droid. I donated to FPSECE and followed it closesly and praised it, but the bugs and the constant controller set-up are WAY behind PSX4Droid. Give it a go (free version available, otherwise $3) if you haven't already.
5.) Opera Mobile 10 Final INCREDIBLY smooth browsing: Fair enough. Personally I've been happy with the default Android experience, as well as trying Opera, Dolphin and one or two others on Android.
6) I'll add e-book readers to your list: I was addicted to Alreader2 on WinMo, and all of the e-book readers on Android lack something (and I've tried them all). Either missing night-mode, or file compatibility, or saving restrictions, or just plain ugly when reading. Only CoolReader has come close (in fact, very close except for a couple of issues).
7) I also find myself trapped using HTC Sense on Android as I love it's email widgets, and can't find decent equivalents for other launchers.
... Oh, and I do miss Cookie's Home Tab. It is amazing software which could have been the saviour of WinMo if it had arrived two years earlier, and was built into official ROMs. Microsoft completely dropped the ball with UI and with AppMarkets.

how did you manage to get it to work? I keep getting "Insert SD card with IGO8 files" or something like that thanks...
You are right about psx4droid, it is awesome. There are a few games I was addicted to back in the day, like Twisted Metal 2, and it runs at 60fps in FPSeCe, whereas it's kinda choppy in a couple Android builds I've tried - maybe I just need to try the right build, and yes the controller setup in psx4droid blows FPSeCe. The browsing experience in Android is excellent, I just am addicted to that Opera Mobile 10 Final.

7) I also find myself trapped using HTC Sense on Android as I love it's email widgets, and can't find decent equivalents for other launchers.

thanks for being the first to add something to the list, I appreciate it. I think the hd2 is quite special (been playing with computers since 1979) and you helping build a list that helps other members here have a pocket computer that does anything is cool.
Twisted Metal 2! That remains my ultimate game ever ever ever, and its the game I got Psx4droid for. For me it works perfectly on the Black & Blue remix Rom. The Paris level stole years from my teenage years I am either Spectre or Warthog

Lol no. You can set up your own way of controler in FPSEce while PSX4Droid have only pre set type of controller (i would even go as far as to say that there is only one controller).
Anyway, lack of other options in not a plus for simplicity.
Back to the topic: I agree with the Navigation and FPSEce points. I dont really mind others. Also winmo have better alarms (G-Alamr for example). I wasnt able to find good one in Android (created my own with tasker though).
so for PSX4Droid how do we specify the bios in our build? I am using HD2ONE.
Well... this might not be crucial, but I've been using WinMo with SPB Mobile Shell on it in almost all my WinMo devices (countless). There's nothing that cool in Android

I guess I do agree with you, but I just got so sick of configuring FPSECE that I enjoyed the "pick ROM and play" approach, and have been happy with the default controller. But point taken

I had been using SPB Mobile Shell on my phones, too. However, SPB Apps are poorly supported. If you try Android you would find that the apps are better, easier to install and uninstall, many more options using Android. Have you tried LauncherPlus? That really is better than APB MS. JMHO

If you tried both versions you would know about huge difference between those two

Not crucial, but quite valid actually. I know there are many fans of spbshell, because it is awesome, and an spb shell version for android would be quite cool. Im not familiar with spb shell, but have seen it many times.
Something that was mentioned in another forum was that in FPSeCe you can have a different custom controls for each individual game: gsensor on/off, different layouts, etc. Now, it's a different .ini file each game, and making custom controls for each game is laborious, but I've done it and benefitted by it. Psx4droid will have this soon I'm sure. (I also need to try psx4droid on some of those mentioned builds.)

I am either spectre or warthog -- you rock smeddy! I am starting to think Twisted Metal 2 should become one of my benchmarks for testing build/rom/radio combos.
I totally agree with the sentiments of this post. I loved my HD2. It was a remarkable device. I also loved all the programs you mentioned. However, i really wish the phone had been Android right from the get go. The hardware was so awesome, pictures we actually clear and didn't look grainy. (This was a first for HTC.) For us hackers WM was great. Now Android is great and becoming greater by leaps and bounds. It's hard to beat Google Navigation and also all the cool voice commands offered by Android.
I would have bought the EVO 4G to replace my broken HD2, but I cannot stand the sprint network. I'm waiting for an HD2 device that has a 4.3 screen and is GSM.

"all the cool voice commands" by both google and vlingo are going to change human history starting this year. You are right to highlight those. Its the dawn of a new era in computing (is my hd2 a 'Monolith' from the Arthur C Clarke books?)
Oh yeah, and Android doesn't have "TellMe" -- can't overlook that GoogleKiller.
Office 2010
CHT 2.0
You do know the thread title is an oxy moron?
This shouldn't be in the Android forum. It looks and smells like a troll thread to me.

Advice wanted

Hi All,
I've just been given an Omnia 7 and I'm not sure what to do with it.
I have an HTC Wildfire (Unlocked running CM) and my initial thoughts were to put CM on the Omnia, after a bit of research I found this wasn't possible.
So do I migrate from Android to Wm7 on the Omnia (and how would I copy my contacts etc) and is it worth it?
I don't expect an answer to: is Android better than WM7 (nor is this the place for it) but has anyone else came from Android to WM7? Anyone prefer the Omnia over the Wildfire etc? Are there like for like apps between Android and WM7? Things like Task killer, utils, games etc
If I do use the Omnia is it worth upgrading (as per the great guides on here) and what version should I upgrade to?
I also notice that the links to the Samsung USB Driver/Flash utilities don't work any more, does anyone have a copy of they available to dl?
Appreciate I'm asking a lot here, any advise would be greatly received.

its all about tast , If I where you I would play with the omnia for some time.

Just to point out that it's not AMOLED Plus, it's just SuperAMOLED. Galaxy S2, Galaxy Tab 7.7 (the new one) and Galaxy Nexus are the top-tier devices for the moment utilizing Super AMOLED Plus display matrix.
Like i said to derik123derik123, i´ll try to put my toughts in a parcial way...
First of all, i´ve been always merging between iOS and Android, like them a lot, lived with it for years, all kinda of mobiles, jailbreakin, rootin, flashing custom, downgradin, even opening to change hardware parts...
Last year i had Motorola Atrix 4G and iPhone 4S, great ones, but without the opportunity to live with an oficial ICS ROm, i sold Atrix and in this January without jailbreak and tired of iOS, sold iPhone 4s....
Now, i had the opportunity and bought and Samsung Omnia 7...remember when you´re a kid and saw that toy in TV or Movie and when you got it sounds just more perfect then you could thought? When sounds that you will pass your entire life with it spending all minute just adoring it?
Well, i felt just like when started to use Omnia 7 with Mango 7.5, i really felt happier each time i scrolled my finger, the system is so fluid, so fast, so responsive, its beautiful, its simple, modern and intuitive, you dont have to dig its already there in your face.
For the first time i felt that my years with Droid and iPhones passed...Microsoft has now conquered me and surprised with an inteligent innovation, they just create something unique, there is nothing in their system that remebers Android or iOS, they have their identity.
I think that if you like the new, the unique and different, Windows Phone 7 it´s a new and beuatiful world to explore all time.
Well I took your advice. I gave my Wildfire to the wife (Her G1 was getting a bit long in the tooth) and installed mirolg's excellent rom.
I'm now sat here with the Omnia running the mirolg unlocked rom and I'm impressed! Google/Facebook/Linkedin contact all came across and worked perfectly.
Yes the screen is very nice, must get some video to play on it. Just a few niggles though if anyone can help.
It would be nice to be able to turn on/off 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS from the start screen. I've installed toggle but it only does 3G and Wifi, anyone know of an app that does all 4?
Slightly annoyed that there is no SD slot to upgrade the capacity, I though most phones came with this these days.
On a much wider note are there any 'must have' apps or games on this device? What do you lot run and recommend?
Look forward to the replies!

Thanks again for all the help! Supreme shortcuts is exactly what I wanted and I've installed most of the apps mentioned by the awesome mirolg.
Phone is now almost perfectly setup...........apart from Zune! For a start it's seems unnecessary as I was used to drag and drop on Android, but I can live with it.
What I can't live with is the way it won't copy a full album over! I have a lot of Audio Books, I do a lot of driving and I find them better than music.
They are all ID3 marked up and work fine on all other devices. I sync them up with the Omnia 7 and for some reason it copies over file 1,2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11 etc!!
I really don't understand why it will not copy the FULL contents of the album, I've checked the tags, they are all good, all files are there and play on other devices, I have removed and re added the library, but no. It does not seem to work!
Also, a very strange thing. I fully charge the phone, connect Bluetooth in the car and the phone to USB to charge and by the end of my journey (6Hrs) the phone battery is nearly dead! I havn't used the phone for anything, 3g, Wifi, GPS all turmed off!
Any idea why the phone seems to discharge? I know the USB port on the Car Stereo is fine as I have used other phones with it.
Thanks again, I'd appreciate any advice!
