Hello,
I've a trouble with my beloved Tytn:
when I tap near the center of the screen, usually the tap doesn't work properly, but it seems that I tap to the bottom left of the screen, and not to the center.
This trouble causes the tapping of the left softkey, and for example when I'm typing an sms, it send...
I've tried to adjust the screen alignment, many times, but it doesn't work.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!
Does it happen constantly, or intermittently? I've noticed something similar on my 8525; When using the stylus, all of the presses are registered perfectly, but when using my fingers, the phone seems to have a hard time registering the press. Often times, when I'm using a touch keyboard, it will react as if I had pressed the "X" in the top right corner.
Like I said, it never does that with the stylus, just when I'm using my fingers. I think that the touch screen driver or whatever on this particular device has a hard time registering the presses from a larger-surfaced object like a thumb.
It happens some times, and only with use of fingers (and I have not hotdog-like fingers...).
I don't know how to solve this trouble, but it's difficult to work with that.
Oh, so it sounds like your issue is similar to mine. See, I think that the software that detects the on-screen presses is most likely calibrated for the stylus (hence why you use the stylus to align the screen when you first boot the OS). I think that it has difficulty detecting larger surface contact, which causes it to freak out and detect the press wrong.
This has bugged me for a while, too. It even happens when I'm using my thumb to hit the tabs on HTC Home; I'll hit a tab and the task manager from the upper right corner (I use O2 Plus 2.0) will drop down. Very annoying.
Anynody else have any ideas?

Hi,
I've had my Hermes for about a month now. On about 4 occassions I've pulled the keyboard to use it and input will not be 'received' properly. It seems the Hermes gets stuck in a 'mode'.
Some of the keys work... like at the moment I clicked forward on an email, slid the keyboard out to start typing but the letters did not work. Pressing 'Return' activates the start menu, however.
I started pressing random things to get it work: I pressed the green phone button to get to the dialer, tapped the X for the dialer to get back to the email and now the keyboard is working again. Weird!
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

If you can rule out software issues then there is a push on multi connector inside that may not be pressed in firmly!

I've had this problem sometimes. If I 'beat the phone' to it, or catch it mid-thought, as it were... Just have to be a bit slower with it. Seems that I slide the keyboard out before it has time to allocate the appropriate amount of CPU time to flipping the screen and initialising the hardware input, so it either takes a few presses for it to register, or it just gets stuck in keyboard-in mode, and I have to soft reset to make it work.
Happened on my old Hermes, not happened yet (touch wood) on my new replacement.
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a very weird problem, with my Trinity (actually a p3600i).
When I'm using my thumb or fingers to type on any SIP, sometimes the start button is pressed even though I'm no where near the start button!
I'm not sure if it's happened when NOT using SIP.
I've noticed that it only happens when using my thumb/fingers. If I use my nails to type the problem never happens. Same when using the stylus, no problems...
Anyone know what is going on here? It can be very annoying sometimes.
Thanks for reading!
OK I just made it happen when just in the today screen.
Doesn't just happen when using any SIP...
Happens when I'm tapping in the bottom left region of the screen in portrait mode.
you are not alone
have the same problem, occurs couple of times a day, and as you noticed when using fingers. we are not the only ones, many (really!) trininty users report the same problem. finally it may result in widely known problem related to flickering start menu button and irreactive touchscreen.
i noticed one more thing: when you disable sound for screen taps from sounds and notifications menu the erratic reactoin seems to go away, not completely, though because i still manage to cause false start menu activation by chaotic screen tapping in phone mode.
read this topic, sorry to disappoint you but imho this is our nearest future

looks like i will need to send it to them for repairs
and nothing ever returns back the same, when it goes to get repaired
Hi,
I'm having trouble with my dual lately.
Seems like my screen alignment has gone crazy, i cant tap the start bar anymore, it thinks im tapping richt beneath it, also when i press anywhere in the right side of the screen, i always tap on the lower right softkey, even when pressing on the 'x' button (this is not on the left side, tough). Only when i hold my finger down for about 5 secs, the touchscreen finally notices and then the alignment is a bit more normal (cube opens because of shifting the pressurezone) but still it is off.
It's kinda weird but it acts like the touchscreen is a 'startbar' smaller than the actual screen, since the alignment in the bottom is ok, but at the top it isn't.
I tried re-aligning about 20 times, but it only helped me for a few taps, and i dont want to align it anytime i have to tap on start or x ;( (i also tried hard-resetting)
Anyone know a solution??
I dont really wanna miss my dual for 2 weeks sending it for repair
Thanks in advance!
had a similar issue with mine before. had no choice but to have it sent in as it was a hardware issue with mine.
Has anyone else had the issue where you can press down on the screen, a tool bar or something and the screen starts to shake or the selector starts to auto select things. I get this a lot and typing is often very hard because it randomly selecting things when i am typing on the keypad.
I have seen it once when i put the phone down go through random menus, is this a fault or just normal due to sensitivity?

Hi
I've had the same problem several times with both stock rom and cooked.
I turn it off, wipe the screen and it will usually revert to working properly.
Most would say it's a fault unfortunately. Personally I've returned mine for a replacement after a 'repair' which fitted a new screen made the problem worse.
See this thread.
I've seen that a lot of people have unresponsive back buttons, but mine seems to be the opposite.
Several times now, with seemingly no easy way to reproduce it, I've been able to activate the back button without touching it. With the keyboard out, and without touching the screen or the back button on the keyboard, I'm able to tap the lower right hand corner of the case (I have a Seidio case on it) that protects the screen and it triggers the back button. It's to the point where if I can do it once, I can do it multiple times.
Not sure if any of that made sense, but I'm sure people who are experiencing similar problems have also seen it and might have an idea of what's up.
Possible answer for unresponsive back button on Epic
I need help with this possible answer to the unresponsive back button problem.
1. If I use my right index finger to tap and sometimes multi taps to get the back button to work.
2. But if I use my right thumb the back button works everytime. Only a light tap with my thumb is all that it takes.
Please try and post if this works for you.

That's... got nothing to do with my question. Again, my back button is perfectly responsive. If I click it, it works, end of story. The problem is that it seems to click itself or activate when I touch various parts of the screen portion of the phone without actually touching the back button.
Unfortunatly this is a known issue and one of the reasons I switched away from the Epic. I had 2 that were bad the first one having issues similar
Best of luck...
