Do you mean that:
1) You haven't got all the programs installed?
or
2) You only have 40MB of 'STORAGE' ROM?
Answers:
1) You have to choose what programs / apps / etc. that you need - do a search for the EXTROM Kitchen on the XDA-Developers Wiki and choose the apps and utilities you want/need, then install any other software that you have.
or
2) You will need to flash back to WM2003 and unhide, then unlock the EXTROM on the BA (it can't be done on WM5,6) do a search, again, on the Wiki

when i reinstalled the rom i didn't copy the new file of the extended rom to the sd card and i used the one i installed the first rom with.
since it was my first reinstall i didn't notice that all the cab files from the original extended rom were delited automaticly after the installation. so i copied a fresh extended rom to sd and every thing was installed correctly.
if you want a thin install, install only the rom without the extended rom.

Got it - yeah, I always just install the ROM; I read up on what's in the EXTROM first, then I take the bits that I want and add them to my own installs - It's why I like xplode's ROMs - usually very clean, and very few 'additional' software that you may/may not want to have installed.

It's a few month that i'm using my jam and i'm trying every day to learn something new to get the best from it.
Anyway i see many people here discussing on deleting the ext rom and i still haven't understood why i should i delete it. I know that by deleting it you can allocate more memory to your storage (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20043) but won't you loose some features? I've always thought that ext rom contained custom region/operators settings. Am i wrong? Then again, won't i loose them if i delete the ext rom?
Any info would be very appreciated, thanks in advance.
What Features do u lose?
I Have done it and i have all the features i want...

that's exaclty what i'd like to know... if it's there i belive it should do something.
george, do you have programs like truefax installed without the ext rom?
The ext_rom is filled with some provider customisation,
it has about 20mb.
If you delete this extended rom u will have more space
available for other use, for example storing today plugins etc.
You don't have to 'lose' the extended rom. The data on the extended rom is only used after a hard reset to install some software and some operator customization.
You can easily do this by hand. Either download an appropriate extrom from the FTP here or...
- First install the rom with extended rom included.
- use Loadvdisk.exe in the windows directory to show the extended rom
- copy all files from the extended rom to your sd card (or pc)
- install the rom without the extended rom
- now install any files from your extended rom backup you want.
Presto, more storage and still all the functionality.
Or even simpler down load watever you want from the FTP itself evrthing is there..
The extended Rom Files are there in this server under the norwegian Ext_ROM Folder
everything is clear now
thanks for explaination
Can I use the org autorun.exe file to execute all requested extended_rom pgm instead of instaill in one by one?
i've not tried it, but ur missing the whole point i dont want nything except the mms, phone pad and something else.. surely not everything

I'm curious if that would work as well. I wonder if the target install place would have to be modified. Of course that does kind of defeat the purpose, but even by installing all of the extended ROM, you should still end up with quite a bit more storage memory. My imate Jam 1.06 extended ROM install files are 8.5 megabytes. They could just as easily be kept on an SD card in case of a meltdown
In theory, that should still leave at least the original 7 meg (maybe more) plus the 8.5 meg (size of the extended ROM install files) free in the storage area for a grand total of 15.5 meg. (or more). Which still ain't bad for a fully loaded unit. Anybody abserve this?
I have lost the SD card backup before appling the 27 MB anakasy/MKS patch.
I tired to flash using the original clubimate downloaded 1.11 but after the same my STORAGE folder is missing.
Please help to slove this issue...
This is weird. I have twice done the Anansky and then installed another normal ROM on top of it, with no probles whatsoever. Maybe it's the I-mate ROM you are installing that's bad? Have you tried another ROM?
I have tried JAM 1.06 ROM and O2 1.11 ROM but no way get it work. Still same issue with storage.
One thing I noticed that before this issue I can flash the ROM after diabled the activesync and phone is normal mode. Now after this issue I have to switch the phone to boot loader for normal downloaded ROMs to start flashing.
Please help.....

It sounds like you're only flashing the radio+ce. Can you verify that there's a file called ms_.nbf in folder you're updating from?
Yes it contain all the three files ms_.nbf, nk.nbf and radio_.nbf...
I don't think you even should get to a point, where you can see which files are included in the installer. Just download the right ROM for your Magician and run it. Too often we see ppl having problem running a hacked upgrade and instead of just reverting to the original thing, they try to hack some more! Well, not all hacks works...
Other than that, I see 3 options as it is right now...
1. Redo the whole thing! Try to flash the Anansky and see if you can get that going. If you can, try running the normal ROM update afterwards. If it doesn't work...
2. You can ask for a kind soul with the exact same original branding as yours (I-mate, Qtek or whatever and same country) to upload a backup of his ROM. Overwrite the first 416 bytes from your own ROM and try to install this new ROM. If that doesn't work either...
3. Get the ROM flashed in a service centre.
Well.. You have something like ten active threads about this flying all over the net, yet when someone takes the time to try help you, you don't reply. You just move on to the next thread. If you don't take those trying to help you seriously, then I for one won't waste any more time on this...
I have solved my JAM's problem. Backed-up my friend's JAM ROM and restored in my JAM. Now everything working fine. Thanks a lot for all help...
Hi all,
I've upgraded to W2K5 on my XDA2. (respect to Buzz and all for their fantastic effort in making this possible) The Extended Rom is now unlocked/un-hidden
I'm confused about 1 thing. I've still got the orignal O2 extended ROM contents but after installing and hard resetting, I dont see the 'Customising' message and none of the CABs get installed.
This isnt a huge problem as I dont want most of them anyway but if I try to install them individually, the one I'm installing gives a message about removing the previously installed Customization Tools.
1. is the only way to install a few of these CABs to cook my own extended ROM?
2. Why would the original O2 extended ROM contents not even attempt to install after upgrading to W2K5/hard reset?
3. Is there a way to install individual CABs from the O2 extended ROM without the previously installed one being removed?
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
you can install whatever you like but
keep in mind that some programs there will not work in BUZZmobile 2005
search the ftp for a 2577 zip files there is the best colection made for BUZZmobile by another god thats really good ;-)
maybe this is a basic question.. sorry for my ignorance...
I am asking this because I have tried almost every extended ROM, but i.e. when I installed Jasjar extended rom, after hard reset, I didn't notice/found any difference, couldn't find an imate logo, for example.
So maybe I an not installing extended ROM correctly, and installing shipped ROM would be the solution. is this possible? , .. maybe it is the same thing..
The Shipping ROM updates 3 things:
1. OS ROM
2. Radio
3. Extended
The Extended ROM just updates , the extended rom
The Splash Screen (the logo on reset) is stored in the OS ROM
To detail, You could change you Splash Screen with any sevice Provider, Just install the .cab which you could find in this forum(Skin related sub-forums).
It is stored in the upper part of the BoodLoader.. Could not be loacted in you windows but with a special tool.
thanks
I've been asking this because until now I thought that in order to try a ROM -i.e Jasjar, O2, etc - I should just copy the extended rom files of the selected ROM in Univesal's extended ROM folder, then hard reset and you are done.
But I feel like doing this you are just installing a few mods -not sure -.
So a good conclusion would be.. if I want to try Jasjar ROM, I must install Jasjar Shipped ROM?? :?

Yes as I stated above, the Shipping ROM versions include RADIO, EXTROM, OS update.
So you can install JASJAR OS but have O2 extended ROM
I'm using mine for PIE Cache...that way it is still on the device and trims a milisecond off my surfing plus I can let it get pretty big without worrying.
What do you use yours for?
I've been filling up my newly unlocked extended rom with all of my applications.
I am running WM Black 2.0, and there were several files in the extended rom which were run on the first bootup. Is it safe to delete these files now as long as I dont plan on doing any hard resets?
Thanks,
-Kai

Black 2.0 doesn't do anything to your EXT ROM so if you do a hard reset the OS ROM won't trigger the EXT Rom autorun.exe
You'll need to run auto.exe or the separate cab files in your ext rom yourself.
I just deleted my files from my ext rom. I keep a back up on my laptop but I wasn't using files...I only needed the shoestring cab and I used a cab to setup my carrier settings. The other stuff was crap so I dumped it.
