Hi,
Anyone know if there is a software that can do the answering machin feature. It would be great to be able to have call center feature like :
"if you are a friend press 1 to leave a message"; "if this is urgent press 2"; ......
BR
Isn't this what your phone provider can provide. I.E. Voice Mail. Depending on your provider you can set up various options normally at no extra cost.
Regards
uuh, I like mcdomfr's idea pretty much!
The call centre functionality (press 3 to get redirected to my mum) would certainly rock.
However, there is yet another reason, why I would certainly prefer a software answer machine running on my xda2 over the network's (O2) centrally hosted voice mail service. That is, currently I have to pay (or use minutes) to check / retrieve the voice mails. A software on my XDA2 would have the voice mails locally available. Also, I would than be able to check all the old voice mail from last week while I am in the airplane mode or down in the tube (no network).
Just my 2 cent ;-)
i know that some old sony phone got this answering machin feature. one firend of i did use it when he go abroad wher cost of checking voice mail is high.
On top of this the sony phone did alow him to listen to the voice mail when the caller let a message.
I remember the first time i reach his answering machin phone i was thinking i was on orange, i started to let a long message and then sudentely my friend pick-up the phone in the middle of my voice mail and we did continue the call. I was very surprized by this feature !
just search people
people ask about that ALL the time i did a search for just answering
and there are from the first result page
if you want more search yourself

I didn't see this here, so here you go.

This is BAD ASS! And it's FREE!
You install a Firefox Widget if you're a PC user. Mac's have a similar tool. Put in your cell phone number. It intercepts your incoming calls and will send you a message for missed calls or voice mail (their voicemail system, not yours) It defaults to text message to your phone but you can easily set it up to send email to your push server. Then call yourself from your PDA and setup your voicemail message. (btw, this isn't a redirector using your PC, you just setup the service with your PC)
I turned my phone off and called it. Went straight to voice mail but I hung up before the message finished without leaving a message. Upon bootup my Wizard got an email (from my Exchange 2003 server) that said I missed a call from so and so (Had the name and number!!)
Then I left a voicemail and instantly got an email with the voicemail as a wav attachment!
I'm stoked! Screw missed call syndrone!
Wow..

No, but I think we are all a little "torked" about the ROM thing, and then all the requests for links, and all the requests for "how do I flash my phone"...sigh.
Good find.

Development of VoipCall has been stopped.
VoipCall 0.2.1
In the VoipSMS thread people started asking for a similar program for calling. So here it is
It's a first trial. If you've got some suggestions; let me know.
Requirements
You need the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 to run VoipCall.
Instructions
In order to use VoipCall, it's important to configure it first.
Go to options and set the following values on the first tab (Application Settings)
Pause sign: p (lowercase, this is default, however unlikely your phone might have a different sign)
Default country code: this is a digit code which will be used when no country code is set.. For The Netherlands it's 0031. For Germany 0049 etc.
Use '#' Sign: set to true. This will add an '#' sign to the end of the number to call. This is needed by VoipBuster.
Accounts (second tab)
Add a new account by tap and hold on the list of accounts. Enter a friendly name and the number.
The number can be retrieved over here: https://myaccount.voipbuster.com/clx/accessnumbers.php?form=profile
(Login first and then go to : 'Make VOIP calls from your fixed/mobile phone)
Select your country and a city. The number displayed must be filled in on the VoipCall settings)
Done.
Now you can use VoipCall ;-)
Just select a contact or type a number in the textbox at the top. and press the call button.
Have fun!
Versions
There are two versions available;
- For PDA/PocketPC
- For SmartPhones
The SmartPhone version has some limitations. It does not support favorites and currently only 1 account. Hopefully I can change this soon.
PDA
Changelog
Version 0.2.1 (31-05-2008)
- Parenthesis in numbers will be removed in order to make calls.
Version 0.2 (22-05-2008)
- Move favorite down/up in contextmenu on favorites
- Delete all favorites
- Order favorites fixed
- Phonepad will be visible during call
First attempt...
Hi Mathieu,
Thanks for the app! I tried it but I have few comments:
1. After configuring the app and using a country code where I'm at right now (France) it looks like the app tried to call to my own number...?
2. I saw that VoIPbuster actually has a Java app where you enter your own number and the other party's number and when you click "call" it dials back to you and then connects you to the other party. Can your app use the same method?
The reason I'm asking for (2) is because at least for me, I travel allot and I would like to redirect my call to either a local landline or other mobile phone which is different from the one I registered; doing so will be very useful...
I noticed that the app (also the XP app) using UDP to communicate with VoipBuster so I'm not sure if this is an open interface that they publish or not but it will be very useful!
Again, Thanks allot for the efforts!! Let me know if I did anything wrong and why the app initiated a dial to my own number after selecting someone from my contacts to call to...
Gil.
Hey,
Some quick answers.
1. Did you enter the correct number for the account? It must not be your number, but the service number from VoipBuster.
For France it's: 0170909535
2. I've to take a look at that app. I'm aware of its existance. Unfortunately VoipBuster is not giving away a lot of information. But I'll take a look at it.
Another option is to configure multiple accounts. You can switch accounts at the bottom of the main screen.
Ok, now it's clear
So I will have to enter the local access #. I will try that tomorrow morning...
Let me know if you have more information about phone-to-phone using two numbers (my own number and the number I want to call to) it has lots of benefits when one is abroad and using a pre-paid SIM card... if VoIPbuster will call me instead of me calling out - I will not be charged locally for the incoming call. I will only have to pay VoIPbuster charges which is much cheaper...
Thanks!
Gil.
hi Rhapsody, that was quick! didnt expect it so fast.. great idea and it looks like another very nice app...
ive been having some trouble with my voip calling from the internal wm6 possibility, so i cant wait to try this one
The VoipBuster rates for calling to your mobile number and the number you wish to call apply (plus a callsetup fee of 5ct). Costs for the calls will be settled via your VoipBuster account, so make sure you have enough credit.
Example: You are in the USA and wish to call a landline in the UK. You pay a callsetup of 5ct plus a rate of 18Ct/Min + 1Ct/Min = 19Ct/Min

It seems like you also pay for VoipBuster calling you.
I've uploaded a SmartPhone version.
Unfortunately I was unable to add favorites functionality as well as multiple accounts. Hopefully I can add this soon.
Rhapsody is the best
Rhapsody,
I've sent you an email with some additional information I've found for better automation of betamax services.
Take a look, let me know if some of these functions can be part of your client, it will be REALLY COOL if it can be implemented and make your program even more complete
Gil.
Thanks!
In the meantime I was also searching for some more information but without success...
I'm gonna check my mail now
Does it work only with Voipbuster? I only have account with Voipstunt..
It should work with every VoipBuster clone.
what about?
what about freecall.com? can I use this with account in freecall.com? imho freecall much better than voipbuster. they offer more countries to call for free, and free sms as well.

FreeCall.com seems to be another Betamax client, so the answer is yes; you can use this app for it.
In fact; the required settings are identical to VoipBuster. (http://www.freecall.com/en/geo.html)
VoipCall installation
Hi Rhapsody,
I use "VoipSMS". It's great, thank you for it.
I' ve tried to install "VoipCall", as well. Unfortunately, I can't select any provider nor can I define a new one because the "Account" tab is unaccessible, it is grey. Is it normal? My gadget is an Asus m530w smartphone with WM6 Standard OS.
I use "fring" with "Poivy" settings. It works fine. I' d like to use "VoipCall" with "Voxalot". Could you advise me the required parameters for selecting Voxalot, please?
Best regards,
tipmix
I am using Gizmo for my voip. can i configure it on voipcall 0.1
thanks

I cannot find anything about Gizmo on this issue on their website.
The only thing you need (for now) is a service number to call. This service number is a computer where you can enter the number you want to dial through the voip provider.
Gizmo is not a Betamax client so I think it's not possible.
Further I'm waiting and hoping for some help from VoipBuster itself. I've dropped a question at my contact at VoipBuster about if it would be possible to implement calling like on their website (that the service calls you and the recipient).

I don't know Voxalot. (Seems like there are thousands of Voip Providers)
The only thing you need to get it to work is a service number.
I'm not sure but you could try a number from this list: http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumbers
I'll try to look at the account issue asap. Thanks for reporting.
I am confused by the overall VOIP concept??
Is it truly free, or do I still have to have Skype or a similar account?
What other software must be loaded for your progiie to work?
Thanks so much!
pardon my ignorance, but I am not sure what this program is for. If you are calling a service number or if the service is calling your phone, aren't you charged airtime on your phone anyways? Or is this really a way to get international calls cheap or free using standard local airtime?
From what I understand the way OneDialer works is that you enter your gmail account info into the app, and it passes that on to the author's personal server for authentication to google. Now I noticed he's actually CHARGING for this app. Dude... what?!
I get free incoming calls so I really liked the potential of this application. I was a bit peeved when I saw it went to no longer being freeware. So I looked around and did NOT have to look very hard.
Open PIE and go to http://voice.google.com
Booyah! Just type in the number you want to call in the QUICK CALL box and press CALL. It's THAT *SIMPLE*!! Plus you don't have to worry about your authentication information being passed along to a potentially unsecured third party's server where who knows if they are harvesting your account info or not!?
What? You like being able to search your contacts from OneDialer? No problemo! Just sync your phone's contacts with your google account. Viola!!!
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Now you can use your google voice account right from your own phone, for FREE and without sending your auth info to someone else's server.
thanks, didn't know there is a mobile voice website. Exactly what I was looking for
you just missed the point of the dialers, they are there to bypass that step and allow much faster calling natively. Its much easier to add a phone number to each contact in this format gvnumberp2pcontactnumber#.
And as far as texts go, just go to settings on GV and have it send them to your email, and then use google sync to have them pushed to your phone.

Not if I have to add them manually. I have over 400 contacts.
Additionally doing it the way I mentioned above makes the call an INCOMING call, thus it's FREE for me since I get free incoming calls on USCC.
So you're little "dialers" option won't work for me.
so just use idialer and icontact and have it use google callback
I'm working on a location based app that would request the phone to send its GPS location. My question is, what are the available methods for requesting the location from the device? My first choice was HTTPD but the device IP is unreachable from the world (sprint). My second choice is SMS and have the phone intercept the messages. If it sees a location request SMS then it would respond to a web service with its current location.
Is this a reliable method?
chris
Looks like MS My Phone uses SMS to request phone data... interesting.
Location request:
SkY!AVEjDy2DGyMCE6RO0qhs56aR1/zf42OXBlbdErz6sVTLW6iHFk+wQUhRX6aSEDkI0w==
Ring request:
SkY!AZbZmdMB6eVOig9Y5Ol6QtCQZAVU8XFZLi19k95Cqzn14CZ+qKuUi+2ha3VFqbRdXA==
Lock request: pin 1234, text Chris
SkY!AYDmzGeCMrT8NeDWmn5QaK96Jvsv0mQZIqEgwzvwE35ZCuBZea4M349kMwBkjVV63Y0ROvV+okapsl7UnzqcJBU=
You would think that MS would filter these texts out of the sync process...
The Ring request worked and GPS location failed (btw, the GpsSample from the SDK does not work either). So no MS I don't want to pay 4.99$ for your non-working premium services.
Sky Command Received | Command Locate (ID 2) | Request Id 22815
Sky Command Received | Command Ring (ID 1) | Request Id 22816
I wish the app was .NET like bing so I can reflect on it.
\Application Data\Microsoft\My Phone\Config.dat contains some service end point info. I would like to get the WSDL of those.
I'm curious about HKLM\init\Myphone\OEMOverride = 1.
This is great MS, due to your SMS interceptor I can't send myself any SMSs that start with 'SkY!'.
I tried resending the above SkY requests to my phone. The only thing that happened was the phone backlight came on (the SMS was not visible) and \Application Data\Microsoft\My Phone\MyPhoneLog.txt got an entry appended but the request was not valid. keep in mind that I had to uninstall the MyPhone app and use the MyPhone web site to send out those SMSs so that they would not get intercepted by MyPhoneService.dll.
I stopped the SBB0: service but the SMS still got intercepted. I didn't stop the Notification though: NamedEvents\MyPhoneRuntimeStartRuntime (if that's the right notification).
I guess the next step would be to write a .NET SMS interceptor to see if it will intercept the SMSs or not.
it looks like the interception is done using MAPI Rules which I assume is processed before MessageInterceptor and it looks like the SMS cannot be replayed...
