FREE (and MORE SECURE) OneDialer alternative!! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

From what I understand the way OneDialer works is that you enter your gmail account info into the app, and it passes that on to the author's personal server for authentication to google. Now I noticed he's actually CHARGING for this app. Dude... what?!
I get free incoming calls so I really liked the potential of this application. I was a bit peeved when I saw it went to no longer being freeware. So I looked around and did NOT have to look very hard.
Open PIE and go to http://voice.google.com
Booyah! Just type in the number you want to call in the QUICK CALL box and press CALL. It's THAT *SIMPLE*!! Plus you don't have to worry about your authentication information being passed along to a potentially unsecured third party's server where who knows if they are harvesting your account info or not!?
What? You like being able to search your contacts from OneDialer? No problemo! Just sync your phone's contacts with your google account. Viola!!!
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Now you can use your google voice account right from your own phone, for FREE and without sending your auth info to someone else's server.

thanks, didn't know there is a mobile voice website. Exactly what I was looking for

you just missed the point of the dialers, they are there to bypass that step and allow much faster calling natively. Its much easier to add a phone number to each contact in this format gvnumberp2pcontactnumber#.
And as far as texts go, just go to settings on GV and have it send them to your email, and then use google sync to have them pushed to your phone.

Not if I have to add them manually. I have over 400 contacts.
Additionally doing it the way I mentioned above makes the call an INCOMING call, thus it's FREE for me since I get free incoming calls on USCC.
So you're little "dialers" option won't work for me.

so just use idialer and icontact and have it use google callback

How to make free calls without using airtime or minutes on the N1.

Most people already know what google voice is about and how it works, but few may not know how to make free calls without using airtime or minutes.
Here's how to save $$$.
Make a call with Google voice and add the "outgoing number" (the number you see at the top of the call screen momentarily when connecting) to your Friends & Family List. Most cell providers have a name for a few reserved slots that you can add to your calling plan. AT&T calls it the A-List & TMO calls it Friends and Family.
Add that number to the list. You can add a forwarded line (like your office or home etc) to the A-List for incoming calls. Add your Google voice number also.
In the Google voice account go to Settings / Voice Settings / Calls Tab.
Google ID IN & Google ID Out should be checked to Display Google Voice Number.
You might give up the caller ID at a cost of making free calls that will show up as M2AN (A-List calls for AT&T) and another code for TMO on the bill.
In order for this to work, your calling plan has to support A-List or Friends and Family with an active data connection.

I thought this was eliminated due to the recent update in GV?
As long as you know the incoming numbers and outgoing numbers for GV, nobody is going to stop you from adding them to the A-List.
But the point of the original was that you would add one number and be able to call that one number and reach anyone you wanted. But now its no difference then adding any number to an A-list, right?
The original post is the same as the follow up. Add any numbers to the A-List especially google incoming and outgoing numbers then airtime won't be billed.

Yeah I know what you meant, but I though google broke this in the newest update.
They did.
This method is over a year old. Next time search the forum before posting your out-dated "discovery".
Technically they broke it only for Google Voice. What makes Android so special is that someone else created a program, one of which is called "Google Voice Callback" that lets those of us who have a Fav 5 list still call everyone for free using Google Voice, even with the update.
TL;DR The trick still works, just use a program like Google Voice Callback (FREE in the Market)
Vonage for Facebook is free voip.

10000000x better idea:
Add your Google Voice number to your A-List / Friend and Family.
Go to www.google.com/voice on your phone.
Click a contact and call from there.
Ta-da. 100% free calls, no need to worry about all these other random numbers.
(Or just down-grade to 0.3.4 like I did since there's no benefit to the latest version anyway.)

Sip calling?
There is another way to do it without the myfaves if you use sipdroid or another program similar. You have to set yourself up with a sip number, which is free on a couple of sites (using sipgate currently).
Then set up your Google Voice callback, this lets you select whether you want to use the wifi(or 3g) calling. For incoming calls you can also force them to go to your free number.
I'm sure there are some good tutorials around if you need more info.
I used Google Voice, Gizmo5, Sipdroid, and Google Voice Callback app to get free calls. Did this on my N1 before I got tmobile service, and was doing it all over wifi. It also works over 3g or wifi. The wifi route could be a great way to give your old phones that are collecting dust a new life, by making them SIP phones.
Here is a basic rundown of steps:
1) First get a gizmo5 account, I had one from before, but they stopped new users. If you want one then check out ebay, they are only $5-10. Once you have gizmo you will have a SIP number in that account which will be used in the next step.
2) Download sipdroid from the android market. Go to settings and click on the SIP Account Settings.
In the box for Authorization username put in you gizmo5 number (put a 1 before the number). In the box below labelled Password just put in your gizmo password. In the box labeled "Server or Proxy"
put in proxy01.sipphone.com . In username or caller ID box i put in gizmo number again with 1 in front (dont know if this is necessary, but mine is working with it in). For the box that says Port it should be set to 5060. Thats all you need to do for the SIP Account Settings.
Press back on the sipdroid app to get to the main settings page and select the Advanced Options. Click on "Use STUN Server" and enable it. For STUN Server name put in stun01.sipphone.com . Then for "STUN Server port put in 3478 .
3) Now just go to your google voice site on your computer and go to the Voice Settings. Under phones you need to add your gizmo number (no need to put 1 before the number) as a forward number (on the right there is also a drop down box, you need to select Gizmo as the type of phone). It will confirm dial to test the phone, your cell phone should ring now if you followed my exact steps.
4) For free outgoing calls download Google Voice Call Free app from the market (This is different than googles own voice app!). Simple put in your google sign in and password in the boxes. Then for Callback number put in your gizmo number (no need to put 1 before the number), on the drop down box select "Gizmo" as type of phone. Your done and now you have free calls incoming and outgoing.

This post inspired me to purchase a Gizmo5 account on eBay this afternoon.
After a few minutes, I had it all set up and BOOM, calling worked immediately!
Wow, so simple, I wish I had done this before!!!
Thanks!!!
(Word of note: for some reason it wouldn't authenticate on my work's wifi, but worked fine at home. After Googling around, it looks like certain security settings aren't compatible with SipDroid -- I'm guessing most likely it's due to SipDroid needing a random open port -- so your mileage may vary. At home of course, you can do whatever you want so there should be no issue.)

Skype on Archos 70

Anybody have any luck with using skype to make phone calls on the Archos 70? I have been thinking about switching off my phone data plan and getting a mifi hotspot instead and using my tablet to make phone calls or maybe just getting a cheap feature phone with no data (I rarely make calls).
I have Skype set up on the tablet but they want $16 or so to set up a phone number and the first three months etc and I don't want to put that out if it doesn't work the way I expect. I have been able to install it but without a phone number, I can't use it for much..
You can't use skype with sip providers afaik, so tough luck on that. May want to check about using sipdroid/ipkall?/pbxes/gv instead.
I have played a little with sipdroid and I can connect outside calls using my google voice number but I couldn't figure out how to make the tablet receive incoming calls.
I haven't been able to find a good noob step by step guide to getting it set up.
Instead of skyle, why don't you check an app called gvdialer, you can make free US Canada calls.
You will need google voice, gizmo5 or sip service and sipdroid.
I have been using it and it is working very good.

Sipdroid have some pbxes set up automation which you may want to explore before you do the following. Someone mentioned that pbxes can do google voice callback too (Which I saw was only for premium account, but he said its not.) Do tell if you got that working, which I would love to do (to cut sipsorcery from my chain)
Okay, here's a quick and easy method.
Step1: Register an ipkall number, add it to google voice. If it fail, delete the ipkall number and try again (maybe different ipkall area code) til it want to verify.
Step 2: This is an easy UDP method (but will run your battery out faster): sign up at sip2sip.info, and put in your sip2sip phone number/sip domain name(sip2sip.info) to the ipkall configuration page.
I recommend learning about pbxes and using it instead of sip2sip though. It's more powerful and allow tcp connection (sap less resource). but it never hurt to make it work with sip2sip first.
Step 3: Connect to sip2sip using sipdroid (you really only need the sip2sip.info domain name, sip address, password.
Step 4 (optional): Test by calling your ipkall number and see if it reach your phone
Step 5: Verify your ipkall number through google voice. (Use gizmo or skype or real phone or some tone generator if you need to emulate a proper tone sound)
Step 6: Get one of the available google voice callback dialer, and a dialer app like 'dialer one'.
You should be all set up. If it's not clear enough do mention it. I just wrote it on the spot, so...
I'm going through ipkall -> sipsorcery -> pbxes -> sipdroid right now myself.
Thanks for the info MoonPhatasm. Unfortunately, I am such a noob when it comes to the actual phone capabilities of these devices that I am lost. I have signed up for a sip2sip.info number and an ipkall number. I have google voice and sipdroid installed. Where do I go from here? When I try to add the number to google voice, I get a force close.
Ok, here is where I am...
I was able to create all the accounts and I finally found an ipkall number that was not rejected by Google voice. Right now, the number appears but it has to be called and a code has to be entered for it to be reclaimed. Since I don't have the phone working yet, I don't know if that is possible.
I have sipdroid installed and I entered the sip2sip.info username, proxy etc into it and the green light appears in the task bar. When I try to make an outgoing call, the screen comes up like it was going to make a call but then the slider automatically goes down and ends the call. I am also not able to connect an incoming call.
I had set up the quick connection between google voice and pbxes within sipdroid and I was able to make outgoing calls. I deleted that information though because I wasn't sure if it was relevant. If I can use it, I wrote it down so I could reenter it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I finally got this to work in the most simple way possible and it is awesome. All you need is sipdroid and the google voice app installed on your phone (and obviously a google voice account).
To set it up:
1. On a computer, open google voice, go to settings --> voice settings and check the checkbox next to Google Chat.
2. Open sipdroid and click on New PBX linked to my google voice (google voice needs to be installed and signed in on the phone)
3. A screen will come up for you to create your account. Your google voice email address should appear on this screen. Just fill in the other information.
4. Click Create
5. After a few minutes, a green dot will appear in the notification bar to indicate that sipdroid is active.
That's all I did.
If you don't have anyone around to call you for testing, you can use this site:

You didn't follow everything.
First of all, the guide I wrote said to install gv callback dialer and dialerone. They're what you use to make outgoing calls. You may have to set the gv callback dialer to always be used for calling, and set your ipkall number there.
Secondly, verifying the ipkall phone number is on step 5, which is to be done AFTER you have the phone incoming call working (Tested by calling the ipkall number using another phone).
But interesting on that google voice/chat thing, and I'll have to check that.

Oops, I was trying to test the outgoing calls without setting up dialerone and then assuming something was broken when I actually had it set up correctly.
Either way, thanks for you help. My new "phone" is working awesome with GV, PBXes, and sipdroid.
Yw, and thanks for making me test out that automated set up again. I was suspecting that sipdroid users gets to make special accounts with google voice set up on the pbxes. It's confirmed now. That google voice peering is normally for paid users only... But for some reason with the automatic set up, we also get it...

There is a new version on the Market as of today (or yesterday)? But it says
Video calling now supported on more Android phones. See the What’s New section for full handset list...
If you're using Android 2.2 (Froyo) or greater on a device not listed in the What's New section, you should still be able to enable video calling in Skype settings. Please note that video call quality may not be as good as on a certified device.
On Android 2.2 (Froyo), only the back camera will work. This is because only devices running Android OS 2.3 or higher allow apps to access the front facing camera.
If the setting to enable video calling is not available in the Skype Settings on your device that means video calling is not yet supported on your phone.

I gave it a try with Archos 70, since it has no Rear camera to see, but still no joy. No video support at all.
there must be a way
at least we get the option. My commtiva m600 has 2 cameras but runs 2.1 so skype doesn't support it. We either need a genius developer or patience, I'm sure it won't be long.
The new Skype for android can only access the rear camera. So we would need to re-label it as such. Or Skype would need to recognize only on camera if only one exists regardless of label.
I know how to view hardware on my Archos, but changing the label so apps see it as the "rear" camera..... no clue yet.

[HOWTO] Internet calling (SIP) using pbxes redo gizmo5 is dead

OK, I have been testing a few different sip providers since hearing gizmo5 is on life support and the plug being pulled in april...
Keep in mind that ANY sip provider can be used (you just need to know the credentials)
So for example, if you have at&t uverse voip telephone, then you can set it up on your nexus s (as well as your cable provider voip or magic jack)
I don't use those, so I can't tell you how to do it, but it is all the same...
instructions
-download sipdroid from the market
-run sipdroid and click "New PBX linked to my Google Voice"
-enter username and password (note if you already have a pbxes account delete it or choose a new username)
-delete/uninstall sipdroid (you no longer need it because gingerbread can do voip natively, you just needed it to configure your pbxes account)
-now go to your phone settings/ call settings/ accounts
add account
username- your name/nickname-200
password- check pbxes for password(same as pbxes under extensions-sipdroid<200>)
server- pbxes.org
[set as primary]
couple things to note- to receive incoming calls check the box, but as it says, battery life will be reduced
with cm7, "internet" calls can be placed over 3g...so using this option all your calls can be free* ...every thing goes through google voice
add "some" personal data so they realize it is not a "drone" account
advanced "not working for free accounts"
go to pbxes.org and sign up for a free account
after you finish entering and verifying log out and log back in
go to the left hand side and click extensions and "add extension" then "sip"

gizmo R.I.P.
Ok it has been two days and no one has ported over the tmobile wifi calling apk so I decided to do some research and get the native wifi (internet) calling working
this is a tutorial that has been done before for the nexus one using sipdroid...but we don't need that app for the NS.
not only does it work very good, but you can also make unlimited free wifi calls with it using one extra step
1- you need to get a sip client, there are many out there (I tried a bunch with no success), so I ended up using gizmo5
(gizmo5 was just recently purchased by google and is not accepting new accounts, but you can buy a "unused" one on ebay for $8 give or take)
2-Log into https://my.gizmo5.com -> Change email -> Change password -> Write down your Sip Number and username
3-on you phone go to settings/call settings/(internet call settings at bottom)accounts/add account
4-username: Gizmo username
password: Gizmo password
server: proxy01.sipphone.com
set as primary account (check)
*optional settings all remain default
5-after you back out it will save the setting and verify the account you can check receive incoming calls (needed for connecting google voice) and how you "use internet calling" as well
thats it, add money to your gizmo account and make wifi calls within the US for 1c a minute (or international for sightly more)
for added convenience connect gizmo to your google voice (needed for free calls as well)
6-go to https://www.google.com/voice
go to Settings > Phones
click "Add another phone"
name: Gizmo
number: +1747(gizmo5 #)
phone type: Gizmo
*verify the number
for free outgoing calls one more step is needed..
7-go to the market and download "google voice callback free" (or donate version)
8-enter your gmail address and password
-enter callback number-"gizmo number"
-check auto-answer the callback
Thats it wifi calling! free if you want (my experience is the call quality is a little better when you are paying a penny a minute (btw thats $10 for 1000 mins...beat that cell provider!)
This is pure VoIP solution. It does not use any voice minutes. It does not incur any charges for incoming calls either. If you are on WiFi, this is a completely free solution.
for outging calls you will incur a small per minute VoIP charge from Gizmo. It costs a fraction of what most cell plans charge.

how to: DETAILED 100% FREE Wifi/VoIP calling set up
I decided to write up this EXTREMELY DETAILED “step by step guide for dummies” on how to set up everything you need WITHOUT HAVING TO PURCHASE ANYTHING (ie. a Gizmo5 account off ebay, or calling minutes/credits)” to be able to place AND receive calls COMPLETLY FREE using WiFi. I’ve noticed that there are quite a few people here that are pretty lost, in regards to setting up this really cool feature on their Nexus S.... so I hope that this detailed “how to” clears up most all of the confusion. Not to mention that this is a 100% TOTALLY FREE way to set this feature (where as the other “how to’s” require that you buy a Gizmo5 account if you don’t already have one).
All you need is:
- your Nexus S (or any other WiFi enabled phone, I guess).
- a FREE Sipgate account
- a FREE Google Voice account (which you should have already anyways).
- the “Google Voice Callback FREE” app (free).
1 - Go to Sipgate.com and sign up for the free account (this will give you free incoming calls)
2 - Once your done setting up your account, click on “settings”.
3 - Click on “Sip Credentials” on the right hand side of the page.
4 - All the information you need to enter into your phone will be here.
5 - Get your phone, turn on WiFi (if not already done so), & go into your phone’s “Settings” …then “Accounts” (under the Internet Call Settings).
6 - Click “Add Account”.
7 - For your username, enter the “SIP-ID” which is shown on the “Sip Credentials” page (see step 3 & 4 above) ****NOTE: this is NOT the user name that you chose when you signed up with Sipgate, this “username” is generated & chosen for you by Sipgate****.
8 - For your password, enter the “SIP-Password” which is shown on the “Sip Credentials” page (see step 3 & 4 above) ****NOTE: this is NOT the password that you chose when you signed up with Sipgate, this “password” is generated & chosen for you by Sipgate****.
9 - For your Server, enter “sipgate.com”.
10 - UN-CHECK the “Set as primary account” box (used for outbound calls)..... that is, unless you DON’T want to use the Google Voice Callback app to be able to place calls for free too (steps 14 &15 below).
11 - Press the “back” button on your phone (which will save the info), and CHECK the box that says “Receive incoming calls” (reduces battery life).
12 - Under “SIP accounts” (on the same screen, on your phone), you will see your username @sipgate.com, and underneath it, the status of your connection will be displayed. It should say “receiving calls” (which means that everything is set up right & you are ready to go!!).
13 - Go to your Google Voice account & add your new Sipgate phone number to your Google Voice account (I believe that you can chose whatever “phone type” you want from the dropdown box, except for Gizmo). Verify the number (you will receive your first FREE WiFi call, from Google Voice).
14 - Now open up your “Android Market” and search for “Google Voice Callback FREE”. Download & install it. Once installed, it will be titled “GVoice Callback” in your apps list.
15 - Set up GVoice Callback according to your own personal preferences. Just make sure that you select your new Sipgate phone number as the “Callback Number”. Also check the “Offical GV app compatibility” box. I also checked the “Auto-answer the callback” box (though I don’t think this is necessarily required).
16 - Finally, exit out of that & go back into your phone’s settings. Go to “Additional settings” and just make sure that the “Call waiting” box is checked.
17 - And you’re done!! You can now place AND receive FREE phone calls using WiFi (through your Google Voice number).
****NOTE: One thing that I’ve noticed is that GVoice Callback only works on 10-digit phone numbers -so just make sure that you’ve included the area code in the phone number of all your local contacts if you want to be able to call them using GVoice Callback****
****ADDITIONAL NOTE: If you have been connected to WiFi for a while, and are trying to make a WiFi call, but you aren't getting a call back from Google Voice (you are stuck on the screen that says "waiting for call back").... just go back into your phone, and go to: "Settings" then "Accounts" (under Internet call settings), and then UN-CHECK the "Receive incoming calls" box. Wait a second or two, and then RE-CHECK the box. Also, try turning off & then on again your GV Callback app. After toggling these two things off & then back on again, you should be able to make the call & be connected relatively quickly (within a couple seconds)****
****ONE MORE THING OF NOTE: It has become apparent that, at times, the party which you are calling will hear an echo of their own voice, when using this set up. Perhaps a different SIP provider will resolve this issue?? Either way, I hope that this guide at least clarifies the process of setting something like this up. If a better method (better SIP provider, etc) is found, be sure to let me know****

I was going to purchase a sipp account today but i had no money in my paypal tomorrow i will
Thaanks ! I just tried it and it works great.
Would it work also if we just ripped the T-Mobile apk from somewhere and installed it? This is a variant of UMA, correct?

Wheres the sip phone icon? I have it set to only call for internet calls. In the google demos, it actually shows a second phone icon with "sip" written on it. Where is that? Only getting it to work if its set to choose everytime or always

5-after you back out it will save the setting and verify the account you can check receive incoming calls and how you "use internet calling" as well
thats it, add money to your gizmo account and make wifi calls within the US for 1c a minute (or international for sightly more)
for added convenience connect gizmo to your google voice (needed for free calls as well)
6-go to https://www.google.com/voice
go to Settings > Phones
click "Add another phone"
name: Gizmo
number: +1747(gizmo5 #)
phone type: Gizmo

Think this could get figured out in the next 10 days? If not, I have to seriously consider taking this phone back. I don't get cell coverage at my house.

I'm having issues linking my gizmo account with GV account. My Gizmo will ring, but GV will not accept the verification code - it keeps saying "sorry, I didin't catch that." Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I had to install the Gizmo5 client on my PC. Then when the Google voice verification call came in, there's a little down arrow at the top of the popup box. If you click that, you can open a text with "sound blasts" I think it was. There's a keyboard there, and if you click on the two numbers, GV will accept it.
Damn, seems like some of you guys are/were depending on this feature... It'd be nice, but I dont need it. Good luck to you all.

Well, I figured out what the issue actually was... I signed up for Gizmo some 5 years ago, but have not really used it. Anyway, they gave out 2 numbers - one SIP with 747 are code, the other with 775 (I don't know whether they still give those away). I had initially put in the 775, and while it would ring, it would not recognize my inputs. Once I changed it to 747, it all worked like a charm.
Hm, okay, so something is still not working. I followed the directions as listed in the first posting, but I still have no sucess making calls. It just says registered callback, waiting for google to call back, and it goes nowhere from there...
UPDATE: anyway, it seems to work when my gizmo app is open on the computer, but that's kinda useless, since I want to use the phone as the calling device. Any thoughts?

You are lucky, gizmo stopped the 775 numbers a long time ago. It was supposed to be a back door to make free calls or have free incoming calls to your gizmo account. You have a valuable gizmo account
Does anyone know if this is a feature of gingerbread and will be available for other gingerbread phones?
Thanks.

Free Unlimited calling via Gizmo/G Voice

Has anyone tried using Gizmo/SIP in conjunction with 'google voice' and 'google voice call back' app? If you have myfaves on tmobile, you can get unlimited free calling using just google voice. However, if you dont have myfaves feature (like me ), there is a complicated or not so complicated workaround which can give u free unlimited calling on 3g.
so who has tried this and how was your experience?

pbxes.org has direct peering with google voice. It's much, much easier to set up now.
I posted some instructions here
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/252222-google-voice-pbxes-org-sipdroid-free-calls.html
You just need google voice installed, then download sipdroid from the market and it pretty much sets everything up automatically from there.
Quick Summary of the directions.
Get a google voice number and install google voice app.
Install sipdroid (free in market)
Run sipdroid and click the link at the bottom that says new PBX linked to my google voice
Verify your google voice account email is correct and enter your google voice password below (yes, you are giving them your password). Enter your pbxes.org password below that (that's creating a new password, so it can be anything).
Click Configure or Save. I don't recall exactly what it says at that step.
You might need to go into google voice->voice settings->phones and make sure you have a google chat account there and that it's enabled for forwarding.
Make and Receive VoIP calls using sipdroid. When you make outbound calls, your google voice number will appear as the caller ID. With inbound calls, as long as you have google talk checked off as a forwarding number in google voice and you have sipdroid running, sipdroid will "ring" and you can answer the call over VoIP.
Call history will appear in Google Voice AND on pbxes.org (even if sipdroid isn't open).
You might also have to check off the 3g option if you want to to work on 3g as well as wifi.
get magicjack and you can run a software hack to get your sip info from your magicjack device, then you have unlimited calls over wifi and 3g for only 20 bucks a year.

Except that MagicJack is garbage.
I have used Gizmo with GV and it works pretty good. Also used Sipgate with GV and that works good as well. That is for people who doesn't have a Gizmo account. Just make sure that all your phonecalls are made with GV when dialing out.
Also you can use Gizmo or Sipgate in conjunction with Sipsorcery, and setup your homephone if you have a PAP2T-NA and you can get rid of your homephone. I think that is where the nice value is.
I beg to differ Magicjack calls were alot better than sipgate.

I've seen them on ebay. But, no point, really if you do it the updated way with GV and Sipdroid app.
Im trying to setup GV with sipdroid. I followed the steps. BUt The notification bar has a messege from sipdroid that says "[email protected]

I tried making calls with sipdroid but its not working either. Also, the red dot in the notification bar is in red color ...does this mean sipdroid is not active or there is a problem with it?

I think this part makes this not worth it. Apart from your email, it has your Google Checkout which would make it easy for anyone to abuse it for purchases on the web. Even accepting that pbxes.org/sipdroid would never do it, if they get hacked, you are likely to be SOL. Avoidable.
If they could change the process to use OAUTH, it would be a lot safer.

Thanks for the tip. Yea I'm thinking gizmo5 will be available very soon again for free since the net neutrality laws just got passed. Gonna be interesting since cell phone companies will no longer be able to block competitors, including VOIP and tethering.

Did you try to use your username and password at the pbxes.org website? If that works then check the settings for sipdroid on your phone, the first SIP Account should be filled in with your username-200, the -200 might be different but that's what I have. You can check this number on the website and clicking on Extensions. Also, check the password. It should register.
[SOLVED]Your call cannot be completed as dialed
I have a green icon on the noti bar and it says registed, but when i make a call I get the operator: "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. please try your call again later"
Anyone knows whats going on or how can I fix it?

Had to go into the pbxes.org site and go into Trunks>GTALK...>and set my real gmail password. I'm kind of wary about this but for free calls I'll do it. Now to delete all my google check out info

Thanks. Everything was set up fine on my end except the user name on SIP line one...where I didn't have the '-200' after my login id. Once I fixed that, I got a green dot and made a couple of test calls and I think its working fine now.
Its horrible that we have to give our google pass to the pbxes website.... to be honest, its kinda scary..I also had to delete all my google checkout info. Hopefully, this safety issue will be addressed soon.
Just a question though: Will my call history and voice mails be saved in Google Talk inbox like it used to be before?
Figured it out: Call history does show up in google voice account.
A caveat: SIP Droid app has to be running to be able to make and receive calls on it. If you exit it, you wouldn't be able to receive or place calls using it.
I will be checking how much battery SipDroid consumes. Post your experiences!!!!

[GUIDE] How to get "classic" google visual vm back after sprint integration

Ok so I orginally thought the idea of GV integration with sprint was awesome...after fiddling with it. I was very disappointed.
The problems I had with it were...I dont want to use my GV number as my primary. I dont want to change my GV number to my cell number. Each option had issues that I felt needed to be addressed. Changing my GV number to my cell made it to where txt would be comming into my phone via gv app. Yes there is a work around but ita annoying and I dont want my text stored on line. I also didnt want to change my gv number, this to me sounds like it could be a bad idea at some point in time, and cause other issues. So I set out how to get classic google voice back with the new app that will not let you just use it for vm heres how i did it, now I know this affects the Nexus S 4G with the version of GV they include...however the market version does seem to be different.
Option 1 (For Rooted Phones)
1) Use Titanium backup or some other root explorer to delete the stock voice apk, then reboot recovery and wipe dalvik
2) Once back inside the rom download voice from the market as that version doesnt seem to suffer from the ****ty options that are stock on the phone
Option 2 (The proper way for rooted and non rooted phones)
1) Launch GV app on phone, and sign in, when it ask choose to change your gv number to your cell number.
2) Get annoyed and go get a shot of vodka, and wait about 15 minutes (honestly because you wont be able to change it back for at least 15 minutes.)
3) Login to gv on the web (voice.google.com)
4) once in there click the gear, and pick voice settings. Under the phone area choose to disable the sprint port number (your google voice number). It will disable and revert back to your old gv number
5) Where you mobile number is at you should see enable google voice mail for this line. Click that, and follow the instructions.
6) Click on voice mail and text uncheck email message and send sms.
7) on your phone open gv, goto more then settings make sure it says. Making calls do not use gv to make calls. make sure this phones number is your actual mobile number adjust sync options as you wish and make sure My gv number is indeed your gv number.
8) DO NOT SIGN OUT OF THE APP (Im not sure what will happen but my guess is it will break)
9) Edit your voice mail settings under call settings and change your vm settings to GV from "My Carrier" and make sure your GV number is in there.
Options: Now if you dont want to use the gv app at all you can have gv send you an sms or an email instead or manually check your voice mail by phone.
Enjoy
I kinda did this a different way but not as elegant. I used root manager to remove google voice. I might have used root manager to remove the data too but I can't recall. I rebooted. Then I tried downloading google voice again. I think it installed. I tried running it and there was a problem. I uninstalled it. Then installed it again. That must have flushed out all the references to the program that I missed. Ran the program, signed in, chose let me choose to use google voice for every call. Then I clicked the link for conditional call forwarding and hit send. It's *28(google voice number with area code) then send. After that I hit back until I got back to the gv setup. I chose skip then next then I think I was done. It's working now the old way. Separate numbers and google voice for voicemail.

Can you explain what this workaround is? I'm not too thrilled with how the GV app handles SMS either.
The most annoying thing about this is the app options seems useless for configuration purposes. You really have to configure this through the web to work right.
After I first set it up and tested a voice mail I got
An email, an MMS, and a notification bar alert from GVM app itself even though in the app I had the first two disabled.. Finally got it down to just a notification bar alert from the GVM app only after configuring through the web. It's stupid that by default it lets you know THREE different ways you have a damn voice mail.
I love it!
My texts come to my phone just as they are supposed to and since I turned off notifications in GV app I don't get notifications in the app. I get emails and texts telling me of voice messages just like before. Yes the app still receives text messages and stores them online, but I see this as a plus since txt is mainly how I communicate and my job has me working in a lot of places with internet access but no cell coverage. win win in my book.
To get texts sent to your phone you have to check the little box in your settings that says "Receive text messages on this phone (mobile phones only)"
It took me a while to messing around to get everything set up, but I'm liking it now.
I use option 2 (GV number in place of cell number). It works flawlessly. I have had no issues. For me this was easy because I made people use my GV # as my primary number years ago. It just takes a little time an patience getting all your friends and family to use the GV #, but once its done its the best move you'll ever make.

It doesn't have to handle sms. Check that little checkbox and the sms will be delivered to your phone like they were before. Then go into GV app and turn off notifications.
Nice guide. Well since my Nexus is stock and I couldn't stand how broken gv and sprint are together I wanted it to go back to go it was.
That is to say, texts and voicemails come through notifications by the Google voice app and texts sent to my mobile number come through the default messaging app. That's how its supposed to be.
It's quite easy to do, in settings for Google voice in your phone turn off all notifications and inbox synchronization. Basically nothing should be checked. Then in the web go to your Google voice settings and under phones next to your mobile number click on "disable Google voice on your sprint phone".
That should make everything normal again. Hope that helps. I don't see the point of what sprint and Google were trying to do here. The Google voice app works just fine the way it is. Don't mess with a good thing.

I think the folks asking, like myself, are looking for slightly more detail.
After rooting around for the setting mentioned I found it.
1. Log in to Google Voice online
2. Click on the little gear in the upper right hand corner to access Options
3. Click on Voice Settings
4. On the Phones tab under "Forward calls to" click on the Edit button for your Google Voice enabled mobile phone
5. Where it says "Text Settings" check the box for "Receive text messages on this phone (mobile phones only)"
This should send texts to your phones SMS app rather than through the Google Voice app.
Hope this saves others some time searching.
My biggest pet peeves were:
1. Incoming messages from the same sender would sometimes create multiple threads inside of Google Voice.
2. SMS messages received from contacts that were not stored in Google account (i.e. corporate account) would commonly show up from a telephone number versus a name.
3. SMS messages initiated from Google Voice would not show up as threads until they were responded to.
4. Messaging application was rendered useless bloatware.
5. I don't want/need Google Voice to archive 300 - 500 text messages a day.
The entire thing is a cluster____.... I've never quite seen something so utterly stupidly organized and launched like this..
How long does it take it so when someone calls my number they hear my Sprint voicemail message instead? I just called my number and it's still going to the Google voice system. It's not activated just checked as my mobile phone but NOT intergrated anymore.

Brotha -I was about to go insane out of my mind -and then I read this. Thanks. I thought I looked at every possible setting -but there is always a button that eludes you.
Then I had to stop the double notifications bc I was getting my text message on my phone and my text in google voice. So on my phone in GV settings I Un-checked "Inbox notifications"
I was really excited about GV integration - now I wish that Sprint would have left it alone. It really is a big mess to get it to do what you want.

Thanks for the info, this is exactly what I was looking for.
I hope Sprint and Google work something out with this.. If XDA members are scratching their heads how to make this work like they want imagine how a regular novice user must feel.
The Sprint/Google intergration and its current method of "configuring" (ie dice rolling) reminds of some half assed business solution some unknown outside firm was paid to write.
I didn't have to root or uninstall. Just download google voice from the market and let it overwrite the existing installation.

This worked for me also (unrooted), but I updated before I ever opened voice. Does it work after the fact
