sure i have read it's possible. As far as I got the wlan driver is ok, no problems with powering up... but no network detection even if the wlan router is near me.
was somebody able to make the wlan connection work under xp?

I have a jasjar with the latest rom, and i need to sync with my laptop (sony vaio vgn-a497xp) witch connect to internet trougth my belkin pre n router, so far so good.
When i plug the usb cable to sync, my wifi connection on my laptop drops.
Does anyone had this problem ?
This is a 'works for me' post i'm afraid just so you know that it works for someone!!
Once you have it connected once, how about synching over bluetooth after - see if it still drops? Also, try th sync with wifi on the jasjar turned off.
802.11b/g/n interop does not work right on a great deal of routers (due to the inability of the manufacturers to follow the ruddy specs!). I was thinking that perhaps close proximity interference rather than the act of connecting activesync was causing the drop.

Yes i have the same problem I have a toshiba portege, and its inbuilt software is set so that if you are using wireless and you plug in a network cable it will turn off the wireless, And the same if you unplug the cable the wireless will switch back on.
but my laptop configures the USB conection to my Exec as a network connection, and thus disables the wireless,
My fix ( work around ) is to disable the "auto switch" and basically use wireless even when the laptop is docked with a cabled network connection.

Hi all,..
try to use an different channel on your laptop...
on XP open the propperties of your WiFi card, and search for the option to change the channel

Is your wireless on WEP or WPA encryption. Many have found that if on WPA the connection drops. Try switching to WEP and it will probably cure the problem.

nq22124a,
What wireless card do you have in your laptop? It wouldn't be an Intel Pro 2200 bg, would it ?

Many Thanks It Works !
I disable both wpa and wep, and switch to mac adress control on my router, and my connection, dont drop anymore.
PS. yes, my network card is the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network
Once again, thank you !
I have the same card, that's why I asked. I know of at least 2 different people who have the same situation as us.
Intel 2200bg cards, AS 4.x and WPA does not work, ony WEP. The others I know have different PPC devices, laptops & routers.
You don't have to disable all encryption, WEP works fine and is better than nothing.
Could you post what driver version you are using ? However, right now I'm not sure it's the drivers as I've changed drivers to at least 3 different versions with no luck

When I insert the USB-cabel into my prophet for sync, my wireless network connection on the laptop disconnects, and would not connect again.
There seems to be som kind of conflict here, and I have to restart the machine i order to get the wireless connection to work.
Any ideas? Running WinXP and Activesynch 4.5 (works fine btw)
For some weird reason switching from WPA to WEP on my router fixed the problem.
I have seen there's no way to connect Niki to Internet through USB connection. I have read as much as I could but didn't find any solution.
Any experience?
Thanks.
if you mean to use the shared
internet connecting from a pc.
then u only have to configure
the internet connection sharing
in windows.
in niki you have to enable the advanced
network settings.
then it should work.
actually
i did it in one minute just opening the shared internet conection. activesync turns off by itself and the pc recognize the internet conection
one minute and way to go.
i didnt even touch the pc config.
windows xp
let us know if u made it.
Thanks Valvarin and erkv.
I have tried both and no results. I have Windows Vista, probably the problem.
Activated Internet Sharing connection in pc and no results.
Thanks...and wait if you tried any other way.
Regards.
I've tested XP and works...How to configure VIsta?
Regards.
Solved....i've made a hard reset and "voilá" everythings OK
Anyway, thanks...
Regards.
I only get internet connection if I disable advance network settings. May I know where you can configure the internet connection settings in windows? Is it within activesync or is there something else ive missed out?
Heres a screen shot of my setup. The IP address is wrong.
I have tested shutting off my firewall and anti virus but still the same result.
Hello!
I have a huge problem with WMWifiRouter on my Kaiser. When I try to connect it with the computer (XP) and switch to USB-WiFI mode it doesnt work. Windows shows "this connection has limitedor no connectivity. you might not be able to access..." And on my Kaiser appears: Try to connect again later or input another IP adress(or so).
Pleas help me, I really need to have that USB to WiFi connection!
http://www.wmwifirouter.com/
have you read their faq?
I'm not sure if the program does what
you think it does
it's a program which connecting to the internet over umts
can be connected to by other wifi devices which can share the umts internet connection
Not only over UMTS! It shares the connection of the PC(from eg DSL), and works as a router over AdHoc connection. I know that it works, because i used it on another PC.
Any idea???
Evening ladies & gents, thought i already posted this but I can't see it!
I'm having a problem connecting my laptop to my HD2 using the 'Wireless Router' facility.
I've had a good search around and tried everything that everyones talked about:
-I've changed the name to 'HTC' and WEP key to '1111111111'
-I've tried the manual 192.168.1.1/24
My laptop can see the 'HTC' network, but when I go to connect, it thinks about it for about 15 seconds and then says 'Windows was unable to connect to HTC'.
Im using a Compaq CQ10-101SA netbook with Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and it has an Atheros wi-fi chip in it
I am currently connected thru the USB cable.
can you check if you selected ad-hoc or infrastructure on the Compaq.
I remember seeing this on XP or Vista, but I dont know where the option is in 7.
Is there no one else having problems with the Wireless Router facility?
I had similar problems. And solved them by disabling bluetooth on both sides, laptop and HD2
Same for me
Hi VinoKirk,
Exactly the same problem for me ... i've added the connection manually in Seven... but it do not connect automaticaly to this connection even if it is checked as "connect when in range"...
Seven is seeing my HTC but fail when trying to initiate exchange with it.
My windows xp is connecting without any problem...
Did you guys enable the Wireless N options in BSB tweaks or HD2tweak?
I had similar issues (network visible, but unable to connect) and disabling the WiFi-N tweak helped. Maybe it'll work for you too...
Grtz
Lukas
I had the same problem, I found that enabling ad-hoc mode for my wireless card let me see and connect to the HD2 router without any problem.
In Win 7, go to 'Network and Sharing Center' (left-click on the wireless icon in the system tray), then click 'Change adapter settings' from the left menu. Now right-click on the 'Wireless Network Connection' and choose 'Properties'.
Here you will see a 'Configure...' button, click this then select that 'Advanced' tab. The properties that show will depend on your card, but you need to look for the 'Ad Hoc'
settings - make sure you have ad hoc enabled and then you should be able to connect.
Hope this helps
Juste updated my drivers
Problem solved on my side .. i've just updated the microsoft drivers for my wifi card to intel one ... problem solved, everything is ok now...
Ad Hoc mode is on channel 11 on these new drivers
I also have a Compaq with Atheros wi-fi Win 7 - 64 bit
and have trouble connecting to Wi-Fi Router. My other Win 7 - 64 Dell links right up. My Win 7 - 32 bit no problem, only this Atheros. I have the latest driver, ad hoc and wireless n off.
If I connect to my home network automatically as usual and then try to connect to HD2 it will connect but no internet. If I turn off the auto connect to the home wireless network, re-boot, and HD2 is the first to connect it connects and has internet just fine.
I have tried this multiple times and always the same. Deleated and installed newly downloaded drivers.
Anyone heard of this kind of problem?
Thanks so much for your tip, Lukas!
I was trying today to use my HTC HD2 Wi-Fi router with my Windows 7 laptop, but I just couldn't get it to connect. But, when I disabled the BSB WiFi-N weak, it worked immediately! You're a life saver!
