Hi all,
First, I am sorry if the topic has been discussed before but I could not find relevant information here.
I have a SPV3000 from Orange France. I updated the ROM from French to English using Mr Clean AKU 2.3.
I tried to follow http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Changing_Device_Language
But it dit not work. It says:
For French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1036 (REG_SZ string)
First I used Total Commander to edit the Registry and I noticed key "Locale" did not exist. So I created a string called "Locale" with value = "1036".
Then I pushed the on/off button 5s to switch OFF and same again to switch ON the device. I checked the Registry again and the key is still there with the right value. Then, I opened Word and tried the keyboard but it is still QWERTY instead of AZERTY (I mean I get a Q when I type on the A letter on the keyboard).
Anyone can help?
I'm not sure but for the german layout I have the hex value in that registry value.
Which would in your case (french) be 040C maybe you give that a try.
Sorry i'll post in french...
Lance "registery tweak"
Clique sur l'onglet "Tweaks2"
Coche "keyboard language"
Choisi "French"
Bon courage
yeah, it's easier to use a reg tweaking tool than manual editing
for what it's worth - the Wiki had an error.. it was using decimal numbers, but it should have been using hexadecimals. Wiki has been updated. Note that you still need to have it use a STRING value, not a DWORD.
Thx! You made my day! ;-)
Hi all,
Thank you for the advices. It used the updated code in Hexa with Total Commander. Worked perfectly.
Great!
I didn't get it.
Can anyone explains please how to change the language ? I don't find "Locale" too, where and what exactly should I change in the registry ? And is there a list of most languages and their Hexa or whatever needed to be added in registry ? Even the Asian languages too... I appreciate any comment.
Thomas - follow the link to the Wiki, it explains where to change what, and also offers a link to the MS page that has the full list of country and locale IDs.
If the "Locale" value doesn't exist - that's fine, just create a new one. Make sure it's of type REG_SZ STRING, or just plain STRING. Not "DWORD" or "BINARY" or anything like that.
Thanks so much ZeBoxx.
I followed the WiKi link, and did all this things, worked fine.
But is there a way to do so with the Soft Keyboard ? I man the keyboard that is in the WM5 itself and not the hardware keyboard ?
Thanks in Advance!
Hi,
I'm not familiar with using Resco Explorer for registry editing, I'm afraid... however, you mention you created a 'Locale' directory. This is incorrect. What you need to do is create a new value called 'Locale', with the actual value being the value you need for the hardware keyboard language of interest.
Perhaps somebody who uses Resco Explorer can give you more exact directions
Yes thanks alot man, I edited my previous post and was hoping to finish it before you read it , bcause I managed the right thing aftr my first post.
Anyway, as I edited my last post, I am asking for the same way to do with the soft keyboard, is that possible ?
Tanks in Advance!
Not via a regtweak that I'm aware of.. I think you need a different keyboard (driver) file for that. Or get a third party SIP that allows you to change the layout yourself.
Change soft keyboard...
My experience with soft keyboard is that it comes with the ROM you load... Would be nice to know which file defines it...
Hey guys,
Tried to add the value in the registry twice but after soft reset the value is gone and it does not work. Note I have french device with latest english rom and want to return to azerty hardware keyboard.
Thanks for your advice ...
Would it be helpful and possibe that we post all our selfcooked SYS folders, which are successfully packed in form of zip files into this thread?
So everybody has to change to add those in the kitchen.
May be we do the description or declaration of the SYS Folder in the following form (to discuss):
DeviceType_Softwarename_Softwareversion_Language
For example: Artemis_HTC_Audiomanager_V.4711.007_WWE
I start with some helpful tools, which i had tested on my Artemis with WM6:
- 1-Calc (Multilanguage Calculator)
- BatterieStatus (tune your CPU - Turboloader)
- Pocket Screen Capture Tool (make screen shots)
- Total Commander 2 (powerful File Explorer)
Let´s start the Developement Center SYS!!!
If you find that it will be a good idea - make it sticky!!!

For sure it is !
now I understand what you mean.. Packages..
SYS folder is 100+MB! I thought you were zipping up the whole thing and posting that.. that would have been a problem, packages are much smaller and go in the SYS or OEM folder.. makes much more sense
good start.. I have some hermes ones that I can try zipping, i'll get someone to test them on a Artemis first though.

Yes - so it is! You can directly integrate the Folders in your Core Kitchen environment. Or store them in your package area ;-).

TENGO UNA HTC ARTEMIS Y MI HERMANO POR ERROR SE PUSO A ACTUALIZARLE LA ROM SIN REALIZARLE CID UNLOCK Y PARA REMATAR CON UNA ROM DE HERMES Y AHORA LA PDA SOLO QUEDA EN BOOTLOADER
I'm using this wonderfull app vip_fresh_install found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351465 and everything runs smoothly.
But I'd like to specify another thing into the script.
Since I need this script to install, after the release of a new rom, the same apps, I already know the destination (sd or pda) of every single cab.
So, I'd like to have a silent install script that it knows where the app must be installed and, so, that is not asking anything.
I've tried to find something into the forum or into the manual, but I'm a tooooooooooooootally newbie in programmin/scripting.
I've tried to "modify" this part of the script, that seems to me the part I need, but dunno how...
Code:
Scriptname="Vip_FreshInstall.mscr"
backScript = SystemPath( "ScriptPath" )
scriptname = SystemPath("ScriptName")
softresetneeded = 0
message(backScript)
ForEach file in files (backScript \ "cab\*.cab")
ansinst = Question ("Installing " & file, "Install", "YesNo")
If (ansinst = 1)
RunWait (file)
EndIf
EndForEach
Can someone help me to have a silent and "pre setted destination" cab installation method?
THANKS IN ADVANCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
ps: sorry for my terrible English
try this to avoid yesno question

Congratulations for this app. Its working perfect in my HTC Diamond.
Can you give me any hints on how to auto enter the user name and password after each cab installation ?
Can I implement silent procedure in installing cabs in the sd card (or internal storage in my Diamond)? What I mean is that from what I have tried when you copy the *.cab file in the cabs folder then they are auto installed in the main memory. How can we do the same thing with the sd card?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Great work THANKS!
HTC HD on the installation of the cab part well, but for every cab asks me if I want to install the cab and where I want I want to install. Is there a way to automate this?
the ROM version is 1.56.408.0 (43972) ITA Date 03/10/2009
excuse my English, I used the google translator

Grande lavoro GRAZIE!
Su HTC HD l'installazione dei cab parte bene, però per ogni cab mi chiede se voglio installare il cab e dove lo voglio voglio installare. C'è un modo per automatizzare
anche questo?
how can i use to deploy 3 cabs and 1 registry silently on a pocket pc?
1) Putting cabs in "MYCAB"
2) Putting myreg in "MYREGISTRY
3) file for the root in "ROOT"
ok..
Then i have to copy these file on a sd? with exe in root position?
That's all?!
Thanks a lot people...really

Wincecab editor has a function in the cabnet tab under options, to not allow a user to select the destantion folder in short most if not all cabs are set to install to the onboard memory but if you change the settings as i stated above you can cut that part out and have the cab automatically install into the phone memory.
This is a full WM6.5 rom with a bunch of HTC enhancements. Mostly are from Mega packages, the others are kept up to date periodically (fot those that work still with this old hardware). Interfaces that can be found in it are Titanium and m2d2, up to user's choice. The difference with other roms is that it uses a hacked WM6.5 kernel from another device, thanks DFT group. This permits to run MSbuilds without any recmod, and same for the HTC packages, thus keeping good speed and optimal stability, without any trade-off. The HomePainted value average is about 34 seconds, which is rather excellent for a "full" rom

Features:
- 2DManila_2_0_20163224_00 based main interface, fast flip_flop clock, Titanium also available as an alternative (built-in), Lockscreen from hTC_Mega, Mega_dialer, finger-friendly UI
- Proprietary monoKrom2 theme ( mostly black & green )
- 101,8 Mo RAM available, WM6.5 native kernel, no recmod has been done
- IE is not laggy ( no recmod of modules + smart_rOm cache values )
- Lots of tweaks and bug-fixes included in this release, that was hard work
- Quite good speed, stable rom
- Post-Install optimized for the SFR network. If you have different carrier, just remove "TV-musiqueSFR_FRA_WWE.cab" and "U_SUPL_AGPS_update.reg" from XDA_UC folder before flashing, all other elements good to keep.
Here are a few hints I give you, in order to have proper rom function and less bugs possible. Hopefully
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 1st of all, follow those 5 simple steps:
1°) Before flashing you should always have Hard_SPL installed.
Refer to the XDA Polaris general section to download and install it correctly, in case you don't have it installed.
Otherwise, flashing of the rom is likely to be unsuccessful.
2°) Unzip XDA_UC folder and all of its content to the root of your SD before the flash for the best experience.
It will install :
- Connection_Setup (automatically defines your internet & mms settings at 2nd boot, must-have; updated gfx version)
- Google Maps v.4.1.1(#1), (needed for m2d2 referring page to work)
- GPsMod_Driver (useful utility to get better, more sensitive GPS module, lag correction; follow on-screen instructions to configure your GPS software for new ports
- HTC_Calculator ( opens quick, supports sci display in landscape, will also be suppressed the defaut WM calculator .lnk, youpee)
- Kevtris_2 (cool additional game, optional)
- YouTube 2.4.4 "official" (needed for m2d2 referring .lnk in internet tab to work)
- some needed .reg "after_boot" tweaks
3°) Please, do a favour and do flash last 3.13 or 3.19 official Polaris hTC rom before that one.
It is 100% required to avoid strange bugs and vital for proper rom function.
4°) Once you successfully flashed the official rom, verify you have the required radio; I recommend Radio_Polaris_1.59.46.12 or even Radio_Polaris_1.65.38.14.
How I proceed: I let the offical hTC rom boot to align screen, then pass device into bootloader mode and then flash radio.
Hint: If you have already 1.65.38.14, downgrade radio first to 1.59.xx.xx or it won't let you flash original HTC rom
5°) Once radio is flashed, your hTC will reboot. Wait for align screen again, then flash my rom.
Afterwards, it's OK, you'll be 100% hassle free for sure
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The customization of the rom is automatic and only require you follow the basic procedure :
- 1st boot will lead you to calibration screen. It can be long and you can loose some of the backlight, so don't loose your temper you'll eventually get to Calibration Screen
Calibrate, eventually set the date and time ( ActiveSync of WDMC will do it automatically afterwards eitherways ). Then, soon afterwards you'll see a XDA_UC message, follow on-screen instructions till the device asks for a reset. Don't use device during install of XDA_UC, device will be very slow and buggy. When the device asks for a reset, press "Yes".
- 2nd boot will lead you to Connection_Setup. it will sort out your internet connection, mms server profile and so on automatically. Just choose your provider in the list and let it go.
- Once those 2 steps are done, no reboot required, you can finally activate your preferred GUI : Sense or Titanium.
Hint: Connection_Setup can be uninstalled afterwards if you wish. If you want to remove the huge provision database also ( 2MB free more), you can run the"conncleanup" mortscript provided as bonus. Put it
conveniently at root of SD and run it, but not in XDA_UC folder please
Once done, basic default rom install will give you about 106 MO free storage space onboard.
Hint: Free RAM : 48 Mo average with m2d2 running all times, no extra soft running. It will boot m2d2 with 58,35 Mo RAM free ( once m2d2 and taskmanager just loaded ).
Hint: if you wish to free up some RAM, after using close Audio_Manager with the X at right top of its own screen, or it will likely stay in background and consume RAM for nothing ...
Hint: Alarms will wake up correctly after ActiveSync/ WDMC synchro. Don't forget to check that in Clocks & Alarms, hitting the little "bell" symbol; "Play a sound" and "Repeat the sound" are ticked, I suggest using "Alarm5" but it's really up to your taste ...
Hint: to setup Gmail account, use "Outlook" type in the droplist. when it asks for username, add your "@gmail.com" at the end, leave domain blank, server is "m.google.com"
Hint: while finished setting of an email account, use Start / Connectivité, open ActiveSync screen to get proper 1st connection. Will not be required afterwards. Sometimes it is required you run a 2nd sync manually to get your all contacts back (e.g. gmail based)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About future versions :
- Cooking doesn't only require knowledge but time, most important. When you're a cook you can flash your phone several times a day with precise target in mind ... this reduces lifespan of hardware.
- I always think about refining details, gfx, themes, newer packages .... within the goal to keep reliability for end users. For that reason, lots of versions never come out.
- Some new versions will come, newer sys, etc. when I have time to release them
Thread is adequate to ask for support, I'll try to answer your questions & problems best I can
Best,
nAr

On Vista or windows 7, it is often required to "run as administrator". Right click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe in order to do so.
hTC device must be sync via ActiveSync of WDMC before the flash
Olinex 2.20 must be installed prior to flashing the rom
Best regards,
nAr

On my computer there is no problem launching the ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
May I suggest you extract all files again from archives, and try the flash again ?
Hint: For extraction, use only Wirar or 7Zip (free), no other soft please. Others can lead to unpacking file problems, leaving them corrupt.
Are there any other users getting that problem ?
Best,
nAr
EDIT: Links on 1st post updated, now RUU runs correctly. My mistake, hidden RUU .dll was missing ...

At first boot GUI is disabled by default, to let XDA_UC have maximal resources to do its job.
After 2nd boot, and once Connection_Setup has finished:
In "Démarrer, Paramètres, Personnel, Aujourd'hui; onglet Eléments"
Untick "Date", tick "Sense" then OK
Hint : The XDA_UC installs automatically all elements in XDA_UC folder (if placed at root of storage card before the flash).
It prompts you for doing its job just after calibration.
So far; sorry for trolling, but xda_forums do use English language, so I invite you to use it too, instead of posting in french

Hi Narshorn,
Thank you very much for your hard work...
I used a Polaris but now I've an HD2...
But I gave my Polaris for my sister and she's not very happy with english rom Now I can give her a French rom and I like this.
Thank you much again.
Cheers.

Preview :
Hopefully

good work
waiting wwe rom please
Alors ça, si je m'y attendais! Une ROM WinMo 6.5 pour le Cruise!
I've the M-Amine 2.0 ROM, but there is the memory leak problem of WinMo. After 30-40 sms sent, i've not enough ram.
Does this ROM have the same problem? How much ram after first launch, and after 2-3 days?
Thanks for your awesome work, i wait your answer but i really think that i will install it.
Chapeau bas!

Thank you very much.
I've not tried the intensive way you send sms, so I suggest you try the rom by yourself to see the behaviour
tmail.exe can be killed in taskmanager to re-open later, if problem is seen. I chose to add tmail to exclusive list for ever fast opening; however it consumes ram in the background. Up to 2 Mo if intensive e-mail, text, 3 days, etc ... but RAM should definitely not be an issue, 101,8 Mo total available.
narshorn said:
From 1st post Free RAM : 48 Mo average with m2d2 running all times, no extra soft running. It will boot m2d2 with 58,35 Mo RAM free ( once m2d2 and taskmanager just loaded ).
