Hi
Apologies if this thread is dealt with elsewhere. Have an unlocked [unlocked from orange] SPV m3100 which is now happily using my virgin sim. I cannot get it to connect to the internet.
I have spoken to virgin who have given me the details of connections
e.g.
ip: 193.030.166.004
port: 8080
http://www.virgin.com/mobile/wap/
goto.virginmobile.uk
These have been entered in as new accounts on gprs,3g connections.
I have tried numerous combinations of new connections some with and some without proxy settings and now have about 3 different connections but it always throws me out saying to check my settings.
can anybody do a walk-through for me in case I am doing something innately stupid?
sorted
I eventually tried not putting the server specific IP address in and it worked wish I tried that before I posted my question

When trying to get OnSpeed to work last night (and failing and fearing I'd bricked my MDA Pro ) I ended up doing some resetting. Anyway, long story short, I can no longer get an internet connection over GPRS (or presumably 3g). So, can anyone run through the settings on their device? I've tried what I think I was running on my old XDA
apn: general.t-mobile.uk
user: user
password: one2one
Server assigned IP, DNS
No domain.
But this does not work

Hmmm, I'm on T-Mobile NL, but I have the exact same issue... Was working yesterday, but it fails now. I'm also unable to connect to GPRS over here, saying that it received an unknown failure. Anyone else seen this (or knows a fix?).
is it not .co.uk?
Just been sent this link from T Mobile CS
http://www.manuals.t-mobile.co.uk/maillink.asp?a=3&wm=1a1217a268587a86006
I signed up to Vodafone and got a 6230i wchich all work perfectly but I'm using the JAM as my main phone.
I've set everything up according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12497&highlight=remove+mms+server
but can't connect to Vodafone Live!
Everything else works..TXT, SMS, Internet is all OK.
Any ideas please?
Dave
hi davehutch,
I'm using my magician with vodafone Live! NL
In the past i had the same problem as you. Calling customer services of vodafone turned out that you have to connect via a proxy server for wap protocol. In my case the proxy adress is 192.168.251.150.
Good luck
Thanks for the tip...but
I don't really understand the JAM connection settings, never have.
Where is this address entered? Is it under the My ISP or the My Work Network sections?
Under Settings -> connections -> connections there will probably be a setting vodafone live! or something like that.
tick "set up my proxy setting" and then turn on "This network connects to the internet" and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet.
when you tick advanced settings you can enter the proxy adress that the vpa should use. in my case that is:
WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9201
Secure WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9202
once you have entered the settings, go to the pocket internet explorer and go go wsp://live.vodafone.com
please keep in mind that the settings about work for vodafone NL. It is possible that Vodafone UK uses other settings.
Good luck
Thanks for the suggestion
No luck though. I have made progress though. Everything now works: txt, MMS, e-mail, Web, WAP and I even connect to Vodafone Live! but...I only get the text version.
i feel like I'm getting closer but may never actually get there.
Is the JAM WAP level compatible with the graphic version of Vodafone Live!?
thanks for your help so far
Dave
Hi There
can anyone guide me in the right direction to help me with my T Mobile MDA Vario, i have purcahsed one and I have unlocked so i could use my pay monthly orange sim card that i have 3 mths left to use ( Me N70 Packed up) so works fine in my vario except i cant access my wireless router, in the settings on the phone it says scaning network , then in Mac: 00-09-2D-9A-C9-D3 . IP: 0.0.0.0
In the Newtwork Card Configure Wireless settings, It Shows my Router . SWAMR-54108 as AVAILABLE ,I also cant connect to the internet using the t mobile gprs settings,
can anyone help please, i have read that because i unlocked it i have to update or change the rom is this correct and where and how do i get this, also would it work better on my 02 payg sim card
thanks for looking i hope someone can help please.
first, can you confirm the security settings of your router. verios work best with wep, and not so well with wpa.
secondly, you will need to change your gprs settings for orange
Access Point: orangeinternet (monthly)
Access Point: payginternet (PAYG)
Username: [leave blank]
Password: [leave blank]
Email SMTP server: smtp.orange.net
if you are using an orange sim.
hi there i have done the same i have just unlocked my Mda vario so i can use my 02 sim in it and i cannot connect to the internet using my wireless router or the tmobile hot key connection on my phone any help would be great ...Thanks in advance
I have the t-zones unlimited plan on my account. This worked on my SX66 but stopped working when I upgraded to a Hermes.
Here are my current settings
access point name: wap.voicestream.com
HTTP proxy: 216.155.165.050:8080
WAP proxy: 216.155.165.050:8080
It seems to connect to GPRS and I see the "E" symbol on my signal strength but all pages time out. I tired IE and opera browsers
Hmm changed 216.155.165.050 to 216.155.165.50 fixed it... go figure
think that normaly with ip's the 0's in front are never typed out
could be that newer wm roms dident mask out those zero's
and faild because of it
T-Mobile internet Cabs
I've had this problem for the last couple of months. I just found this in the main Networking Forum. It contains ROM specific to your data plan. Mine now works fine, so your's probably will too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311446
I just moved my SIM from a BA (WM5) to an 8525(WM6).. same internet settings, proxy, etc.. (T-Mobile Web) was working on the BA and now it just connects, and eventually times-out with the error 502 message. Tried radio roms 1.47, 1.48, 1.50, no difference. Moved the sim back into my BA and internet works still. What gives? I did look in the registry on the 8525 under tcpip and noticed the gateway address is the same as the assigned dhcp address. This shouldn't be. Using chaps 3.54b Lite ROM.. any ideas?
T-Mobile tech support did in fact verify that they were closing down the WAP apn. Are they capable of making these kind of changes without notifying customers? The reason I ask is they still have instructions posted on the web for configuring windows mobile phones for "Web browsing" using the wap apn and proxy.. as far as I'm concerned they have breached their contract for my paid services.. actually I'm not under contract and this might give me the reason to consider other providers.
UPDATE.. the Black X Beta 2 works with T-Mobile Web and proxy..
I´ll give it a try

I have had a similar problem but in my case I have a Wizard not a BA, I´ve tried all kind of tweaks for
HKLM\Comm\Cellular Line\Parms\Tcpip and
HKLM\Comm\Tcpip\Parms
The default parameters looks the same for the Wizard and the Hermes except that the Hermes shows WINS addresses and the Wizard doesn´t (Please see my signature and provide your data)
Goodday,
My Boss has a Tytn II.
And uses the dutch Vodafone.
Its not connecting to the internet or exchange email.
I have tried:
Windows auto wizard - No success
Manually according to website - No success
I have tried both with and without proxy
And tried both with PAP and CHAP authentication.
But it cant connect.
Is there anyone who knows what this could be?
p.s. when text messaging 1300 - internet
I get a stupid sms back with an URL.....
You could try connecting the TytnII to a pc with USB cable and thus using the pc's internet connection through Activesinc. Then the URL should work.
I have an TyTNII on the dutch Vodafone network. No problem, internet and exchange access both work. So if the activesinc method doesn't work for you maybe check these settings:
I did have to change the Access Point (Toegangspunt) from live.vodafone.com to office.vodafone.nl (username: vodafone, pw: vodafone) though. But that depends on your account type.
In my case the connection uses the proxy: 192.168.251.150
Hope this helps, good luck.
