T-MOBILE USA GPRS HELP

Hi, i finally got the unlock code from Tmobile and i am now able to use my phone.
I am trying to setup the GPRS with Tmobile USA. I went onle and found some information, put it in and setup GPRS, but it does not seem to work. When i try to open a wap site with the GPRS, like wap.yahoo.com, it does not come up.
I do not pay for the GPRS, but from what i heard, with out devices, we can use it free, but not full web functionality. We can use pop, imap and stuff, and also get mms, and access wap site. Please if any one knows any configurations that work it will be greatly appreciated.

Try setting up your Proxy settings.
They changed their network requirement recently for Port 80 (HTTP). Be nice if they told everyone though!
Proxy setting should be:
216.155.165.50 on port 8080

According to the Tmobile sites I've frequented, there is no such thing as "free web" anymore and it disappeared months ago. Last time I checked personally, the cheapest you could get away with is the T-Zones data plan....whatever they call it now. I think it's 6 or 7 dollars a month and lets you use wap.voicestream.com as an access point. If you do that and use the proxy server 216.155.165.50, port 8080, you can get to most of the web. Recently, however, I've been reading that even that loophole is slowly being closed by area so while it mght work for me, it may not for you and it might not work for me tomorrow. You can certainly try it using the above access point and proxy setting, but don't be surprised if it does nothing without your paying for a data package.

Yeah, it seems they are slowly shutting down that "function" as mine works sporadically now. Damn. It was a bargain at $4.99/month for the last yr or so

A bargain indeed. I'm waiting to see if you can do the proxy workaround with your own proxy server. I've had the $20/mo package for ages and it's well worth it but my wife and son have the $5/mo package and use Tmo's http for web access and my own socks proxy for MSN Messenger. A fixed IP address is a big help but you might be able to get away with using dyndns.org for that, too. I guess we'll find out soon as more and more people find out they're starting to get what they paid for.

Well i'm sort of bummed out right now.
My t-mobile Tzones unlimited internet is working again, if I use the proxy. That's dandy. If I turn on my WI-FI and connect to my home wifi, however, I have to go into connections and turn off the proxy for my tmobile gprs in order for me to connect to the internet.
Perhaps I'm doing something horribly wrong, or is this the only way to do it? Please let me know.........

I have tried all i know, the proxy is blocking my wifi from connecting to the net, so i had to take it out. It says i am connected but i cannot seem to pull up any site, so i paid for the $5.99 t-zone deal, it says it might take a while to provision.
Now i am trying to test the connection by sending MMS, it has been a while i usually don't send MMS. How do i send MMS to a friend in london, i'm in the states, i know it is their mobile [email protected], just don't know what the something is. I know the US version is [email protected]. Thanks.
Also, my MDA PRo gives me an option of WAP1.2 or WAP 2.0, what is the diffrence?

Walk into a tmobile store and tell them that you want to pay for a sidekick plan for a compatible euro piece of hardware.
It will cost you $30 usd but its unlimited gprs
Create a new connection and use wap.voicestream.com as the access point. You might still have to call tech support if you don't bring the universal with you because the way I understand it, they ping the simchip and grab the IMEI over the air...may be better to just bring it.

P3600 in USA, T-Mobile

Does anyone have any experiance in using P3600 in USA with T-Mobile? In particular, I am having hard time getting to Internet and receiving MMS messages.
Because of the specifics of the USA cell and PDA market, getting a PDA working with a service provider (if you don't buy it from the service provider itself) can be tough. I have set up my Trinity to connect to EDGE, it shows the "E" on the top of the bars, but it still has a hard time browsing the Internet. There is not much help offered on their website, so I was hoping may be someone has had an experience setting it for T-Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.

That shows my phone connected to EDGE by I am still not able to access the Internet.

I've just spent a week in the USA with my Orange M700 - everything worked fine, probably gonna have some horrible roaming bills though as it's still on the original orange account

I'm in the US on T-Mobile, no problem with Internet. The only thing I had to do was enter the server address -- internet2.voicestream.com, and all works.
MMS has been a bit more trying. I do get inbound notifications of MMS coming in, but haven't played around with it enough to get it working. Then again, I don't use MMS so it hasn't been a pressing issue. I'll play with it tomorrow and see what I get.

On T-Mobile website they were suggesting connecting to wap.voicestream.com and using a proxy server. But once I took out the proxy server and used the server you suggested it worked fine.
With the MMS messages- yes, I get only the inbound notifications too. Don't get the actual message.

Getting MMS working was a *****. Here's what I did:
I set up a new connection under "Work" to wap.voicestream.com
Under Messaging, MMS, settings:
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: Work
Sending size limitation: 248K
WAP version: WAP 1.2
I received MMS perfectly but didn't test sending yet.

Help me set up my data connection

I need your help again! I recently just put the black dymond version on my phone but I failed to look at how I had the internet settings configured because I thought I knew. Well I don't know if I am doing something different this time and I just can't remember or what but I can't figure out how to get the internet to work. Can someone walk me through how to set this up?
I have cellular one...I know I got the phone from someone and haven't switched yet to cingular. Heres the information i'm using to try and configure this:
GPRS Web Session:

Port 1: 9201

What are you using for username / password?
There is a long thread on this over at ANOTHER FORUM. I have to go shower now after visiting Hofo. The thread is long, but read through. At one point, someone says they used the username cellularone - said it worked, but he wasn't sure why. heh - hofo
Anyway, give it a try.

What do I set up a modem? All I tried doing was the VPN but I don't know if thats right.

Noone knows? I can't find anyting on the other site to jog my memory and its pissing me off!

need help connecting to T-mobile. proxy and APN is setup

I have the t-zones unlimited plan on my account. This worked on my SX66 but stopped working when I upgraded to a Hermes.
Here are my current settings
access point name: wap.voicestream.com
HTTP proxy: 216.155.165.050:8080
WAP proxy: 216.155.165.050:8080
It seems to connect to GPRS and I see the "E" symbol on my signal strength but all pages time out. I tired IE and opera browsers
Hmm changed 216.155.165.050 to 216.155.165.50 fixed it... go figure

think that normaly with ip's the 0's in front are never typed out
could be that newer wm roms dident mask out those zero's
and faild because of it

T-Mobile internet Cabs
I've had this problem for the last couple of months. I just found this in the main Networking Forum. It contains ROM specific to your data plan. Mine now works fine, so your's probably will too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311446

I just moved my SIM from a BA (WM5) to an 8525(WM6).. same internet settings, proxy, etc.. (T-Mobile Web) was working on the BA and now it just connects, and eventually times-out with the error 502 message. Tried radio roms 1.47, 1.48, 1.50, no difference. Moved the sim back into my BA and internet works still. What gives? I did look in the registry on the 8525 under tcpip and noticed the gateway address is the same as the assigned dhcp address. This shouldn't be. Using chaps 3.54b Lite ROM.. any ideas?

T-Mobile tech support did in fact verify that they were closing down the WAP apn. Are they capable of making these kind of changes without notifying customers? The reason I ask is they still have instructions posted on the web for configuring windows mobile phones for "Web browsing" using the wap apn and proxy.. as far as I'm concerned they have breached their contract for my paid services.. actually I'm not under contract and this might give me the reason to consider other providers.

UPDATE.. the Black X Beta 2 works with T-Mobile Web and proxy..

I have had a similar problem but in my case I have a Wizard not a BA, I´ve tried all kind of tweaks for
HKLM\Comm\Cellular Line\Parms\Tcpip and
HKLM\Comm\Tcpip\Parms
The default parameters looks the same for the Wizard and the Hermes except that the Hermes shows WINS addresses and the Wizard doesn´t (Please see my signature and provide your data)

gprs connection for spv m3100

Apologies if this thread is dealt with elsewhere. Have an unlocked [unlocked from orange] SPV m3100 which is now happily using my virgin sim. I cannot get it to connect to the internet.
I have spoken to virgin who have given me the details of connections
e.g.
ip: 193.030.166.004
port: 8080
http://www.virgin.com/mobile/wap/
goto.virginmobile.uk
These have been entered in as new accounts on gprs,3g connections.
I have tried numerous combinations of new connections some with and some without proxy settings and now have about 3 different connections but it always throws me out saying to check my settings.
can anybody do a walk-through for me in case I am doing something innately stupid?

I eventually tried not putting the server specific IP address in and it worked wish I tried that before I posted my question
