Blueplayer - A2DP Stereo Greatness - What's it made of? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Those who tried it before, give this another chance.
I have made a modified .cab file (Go to the BOTTOM)
- No 30 seconds limit
- Remote control works ( AVRCP)
- No skipping (Convert all MP3 to 192kbps or less)
NOW ONTO SERIOUS BUSINESS
Normal A2DP causes some hissing, sound deterioration (depending of your bitpool capacity) and hogs the phone's resources making it nearly unusable without having to pause the playback to be able to accomplish something like send a SMS.
Blueplayer has NO DETERIORATION – It uses it’s own special codec / technology
###I wish to know WHAT codec/technology is used by Blueplayer?! :O###
PROOF that Blueplayer uses a “SPECIAL” technology instead of normal A2DP
- INDEPENDENT from WM5 / WM6 A2DP drivers.
#To use Blueplayer, you need to DISCONNECT /UNCHECK the “Wireless stereo” from the phone’s Bluetooth settings (paired devices).
- NOT ALL STEREO HEADSETS CAN BE USED! ( i.Tech R35 for headphones)
WM6 A2DP stream to Laptop PC : WORKS
WM6 A2DP stream to Stereo BT Headphones : WORKS
Blueplayer stream to Laptop PC : DOES NOT WORK
Blueplayer stream to Stereo BT Headphones : WORKS
So, only special hardwares can decode whatever is the technology used by Blueplayer. It's not normal A2DP.
- AUDIO QUALITY TEST
WM6 A2DP stream to Laptop PC : Hissing
(Insanely high BitPool has no effect, and wont do skipping)
Laptop Widcomm BT A2DP to Stereo BT Headphones : Same Hissing
(BitPool can't be changed)
Blueplayer stream to Stereo BT Headphones : AWESOME!!
(skips if above 192kbps, so quality has an impact)
Blueplayer stream to Laptop : DOESNT WORK
BACK TO THE POINT !!!
I wish to know what's that technology.
Why?
Blueplayer is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MP3 player. All I care for is the CODEC.
The Blueplayer ITSELF is very difficult to manage.
- To pick a NEW track, you cant just click/tap it. You got to press STOP, then select the track, then press PLAY. (Or use NEXT/PREVIOUS over and over to navigate to it)
- The buttons can only be TAPPED, not clicked, and they are SO TINY that you cant just press them while walking around. You literally got to AIM your fingernail on the button, or use the stylus.
- You cant browse folders by clicking, you got to tap on a TINY TINY (+) to expand folders
- Cant select all subfolders, you got to add each folders individually to the playlist.
- No ID3 support, only a raw file list
etc etc, it's an ugly GUI.
But I want the sweet codec that makes the music sound so great.
OK HERE'S THE FILE!!!
Follow these steps to Pair your BT Headphones with Blueplayer
1 - Delete BT Headphones from your paired devices list in Bluetooth settings
2 - Set your BT headphones in discoverable/pairing mode.
3 - Launch Blueplayer
4 - Tap on "SelectDevice" at the bottom left of the screen
5 - Click on "Refresh" at the bottom middle of the screen
6 - Select your device and press the "ok"
7 - It will ask you to Pair/Add the device (WM6 Bluetooth settings does that)
8 - Once paired, UNCHECK "Wireless Stereo" from the services
9 - In Blueplaye, click on the folder icon near the top/right
10 - Browse for a folder containing directly some MP3 (it will show in the bottom list if it sees the MP3, no sub-folders allowed)
11 - Got to click the "ok" at the bottom left.
12 - Press the tiny tiny tiny "play" button and enjoy.
If you get driver errors, or the music doesnt play in your headphones and the software crashes, you dont have the hardware required to use Blueplayer.
Othewise, ENJOY THE FABULOUS QUALITY STREAMING and the CRAPPY GUI

A2DP supports several CODECs that can be used to transfer the audio over the Bluetooth link.
There is only ONE mandatory codec to support -SBC.
For SBC, normally the sound processing goes like this:
MP3 (source) --WMPlayer--> "decoded WAV" --A2DP--> SBC --wireless--> WAV (Headset)(earphones)
There is another commonly supported codec - MP3. MP3 is a much better codec for sound quality than SBC, but its much more CPU intensive to encode and decode MP3. Most A2DP headsets dont support the MP3 codec, but some (like the i.Tech) do.
My guess is Blueplayer is able to use the MP3 codec for A2DP, if your A2DP headset supports it.
Blueplayer probably does this:
MP3 (source) --Blueplayer A2DP--> MP3 without re-encoding --wireless--> WAV (Headset)

(Sorry to post in a new post - the edit post doesnt work for me using Firefox 3.)
One thing about using the MP3 codec in A2DP is that the player probably cannot do changes to the sound (no volume control, equalizer/bass boost, etc.) without having a huge impact on CPU load.
So essentially what you get is almost the raw MP3 file being streamed wirelessly using A2DP to the headset to decode. Which is a very good way to preserve the sound quality of the MP3 file.
Good find though, I'm glad to see a WM MP3 player that actually supports the MP3 codec for A2DP.

My issue is that blueplayer has a horrible GUI. While it is a great concept to stream the MP3 without reencoding, it's just... horrible.
I've always wondered why a lot of A2DP headsets can decode MP3 directly, yet there are NO software players that take advantage of it other than blueplayer.

does it work on wm smartphone

Working Bluetooth Stereo Headsets for new stack

Please post here details of BT headsets that work with the new stack to stream audio,
Please include:
Headset make and model
Any issues or if it works perfect
Quality good / average / bad
Cheers!
iTECH BLUEBAND works perfectly with the new A2DP (and others!) BT Stack. Streams audio pretty well and switches to headset mode when there's an incoming call. Flawless so far!
Sound could be better, but now I need to look for a good jukebox for Pocket PC. Suddenly the JAM has become my default music player!
PS: Music drags and sometimes gets cutoff during heavy CPU activity (while I was installing some software over Active Sync and had about 45 tracks lined up on WMP!). However, the music continues from where it left off!!!
What about the Itech Clip s35?
Does anyone know I'm supposed to get the new stack to pair up with the Clip s35 so the "Default Headset" dragdown window appears and I can get the BT to start streaming MP3 music?
Keith
Hi guys,
I have a Himalaya but am just wondering - when you say you have a fully functional bluetooth stack with A2DP and which receives calls while you listen to music, do you mean a Microsoft stack on your Magician's?
Thanks

Can someone recommend a solution for this BT audio need?

I want to "cut the cable" and stream audio from my JAMin to a set of lightweight BT headphones while I workout.
I have a JAMin but I have not bought any BT headphones yet.
Primarily I use the Mobile Slingplayer and TCPMP to watch videos (mostly with mono audio).
I have seen the hacks for A2DP but I worry that the processing overhead required for A2DP will kill video performance and also that the Slingplayer and TCPMP don't stream over this profile (from the postings only WMP seems to work?).
Would I at least be able to get mono audio working wirelessly while watching video? Which BT headphones would you recommend for this?
Thanks in advance.
A2DP hack available at this site accept audio stream from any programs. Windows Media Player mentioned as only one program which support remote control functions like Play/Pause, Fwd, Bwd. Prophet performance good enough to watch video with stereo over A2DP. I don’t know about Slingplayer and TCPMP my preference are different, but my experiences with SmartMovie are successful to watch video with stereo audio.

Initial A2DP findings

Using the M3100 with the itech clip S35 Headset
firstly i've been using the fit4cat tweaker which has an A2DP quality improvememt tweak - unfortunately the tweak makes the quality worse so i've tuned it off and the music quality is not too bad when playing through my car stereo. However, I need to try some decent headphnes with the unit because the ones supplied sound very tinny!
Secondly, when you first pair the device, media player plays through the headset ok. If you then go out of range, when you return the headset re-pairs ok for the phone but the media player doesn't and it plays through the loudspeaker. You have to enter BT settings and recheck the stereo music option to have the sound through the headset again. Anybody getting this with the same or other headsets?
Thirdly, I have the S35 outputting through my car stereo. When people are calling me they can hear an echo (of themselves speaking as the sound comes out through the car speakers). There is some sort of delay i suppose but this is very annoying. I'm not sure why its happening because when I tried the headset using my Sony Ericsson W800i there was no such echo!
therfore, is the echo problem an A2DP thing (as the w800i does not support it and this works ok) or is it a m3100 thing? To test this I could turn off A2DP and ry the headset again - is this possible?
any suggestions appreciated
I have the Jabra BT620s headphones and I have indentical problems.
After install all works well but as soon as you disconnect media player just plays via the phone speaker
at least you guys get it to work once. WMP never plays through my iPAQ bluetooth headset. AVRCP controls work fine though. TCPMP plays fine through the bluetooth headset as long as I pair it up before I execute TCPMP. This is exactly how it worked with my 8125.
The WMP issue is very strange and is likely yet another example of the lack of QA testing in the A2DP portion of the TyTN's implementation. I would expect that these issues will all be fixed in a subsequent TyTN ROM update.
I'm getting on ok with this
quality is pretty good both using the headset with my own sony ear buds. Vast improvement over the itech supplied ear buds.
A2DP - no skipping during normal playback and it works well - quality is not an issue through the car stereo either - not bad at all . I've even been listening to music over A2DP and running sat nav using a GPS BT receiver. A slight pause in music when GPS connects but then all runs well.
My only 2 gripes are:-
1. When you disconnect or go out of range of the headset, it reconnect perfectly with the phone application. This isn't the case with the wireless stereo. I have to enter BT settings, uncheck the wireless stereo setting, save then recheck the setting before it reconnects. Slightly annoying but accesptable (for now)
2. the echo using the headset through my car stereo. People calling me can hear themselves again (about a 0.5 second delay) through the car speakers! Just to repeat my earlier post, this does not happen with my W800i. not sure if its an A2DP problem or something else.
Similarly here, I don't seem to be able to make A2DP (and the handsfree profile, for that matter) work.
Using HTC and an Itech clip, I am able to pair the "wireless stereo" and then play music for some 10 seconds on the GS Player, after which the Wireless Stereo symbol disappears from the top bar and the connection is interrupted. I actually believe that the Itech clip is 'shut off', as I have to turn it on again.
When I try to reconnect the headset, it just won't work and the whole machine is slowed down. Only a soft reset helps.
I hope this is a ROM problem (and not mine) and it'll be fixed soon...
WMP and the Itech clip work fine for me, with the current German ROM.
a2dp issues w/th Hermes
With the CHT9000 WWE rom I had the wireless stereo drop off after about 1 minute, then I would have to reconnect. I flashed to the other dopod WWE ROM (latest) and the problem is gone....sound is comparable to my prophet. Reg tweaks suggested in other forums definetely make the sound quality worse for either ROM version. I think further updated ROM's will improve A2DP reliability (or someone may find a reg hack)...as with the prophet A2DP it just takes time.
Hi guys, I've got the vario ii and the Sony Ericsson HBH-610.
I can add the headset fine and make calls through it, but I don't know how to get the music in wmp to play through it.
If anyone has a few mins spare and could explain it for me I would be really grateful
Headsets..HBH 610...
With my CHT 9000 I use an OMIZ 5660...works great for calls and wireless stereo. I don't have any other headset to compare it to (since I only have used this brand)....I believe that if your "options" do not list wireless stereo then you can't use the A2DP function on your device, at least as it is designed to be used.
I'm not aware of a one-piece headset that supports A2DP that is available (all should have either 2 headphones or two wired ear plugs)..
THE ONLY WAY, I FIND :
I have a 590A Plantronics Bluetooth HeadSet
You must refresh Services of your iTech or your Plantronics !
Go Parameters, Bluetooth, Select your Headset, Refresh.
Then reselect services and Save !
Each time you lost the link (Bluetooth turn off or ...) you will have to Refresh, reselect and Save !
I am searching for a Solve but not find another !
I forget something else !
It is the same thing with my Bluetooth GPS (GNS).
I have a spv m3100 and jabra bt620. They both work like a dream most of the time apart from having to go into bluetooth settings each time I want to connect to the stereo headset option.
I have noticed that when in my garden or at home (a quiet environment probably) that I have excellent streaming but when I am walking around, particularly in built up areas like shopping centres, high streets, tube trains, that there is some loss in the streaming which would seem to point towards some kind of interference.
Why the wireless stereo is set as mono as standard I can't understand. I'm sure its to do with improving the streaming quality, but they are supposed to be STEREO!!! Also I set the quality to 58 instead of 48 and there was a definite loss in streaming quality so I switched back to 48.
The AVRCP also works brilliantly in WMP.
The wireless connection also plays havoc with the bluetooth stereo connection with the buffering of stereo constantly dropping. Also noticed that AVRCP wont work with TCPMP, but as there seems to be some major issues with TCPMP and the Tytn I have uninstalled it for the time being until the guys at CorePacket come up with a fix

So far A2DP has worked fine for me with my Nokia HS-12W. I have applied some registry settings and optimised my SD card and so far it has played with hardly a skip. Definitely better than my previous BA with WM5.

This is the biggest problem for me with my M3100 at the moment. I'm guessing it will only be fixed by an updated\alternative ROM(?!), any ROM's out there I could try that might get round this problem??
Thanks

This is probably headset dependent because with my Nokia HS-12W if i need to reconnect i just press the Audio button and it re-establishes the A2DP connection. No going to BT settings at all.
Interesting, can you just confirm what you mean by the Audio button. Is that just hitting 'Play' in WMP?
Thanks
No, the Nokia has a Music key (not Audio, my mistake) which switches from A2DP to the built-in radio. So if i have lost the BT connection pushing the Music key to select the Audio player will re-establish the connection and music is streamed to the headset. You will see the A2DP icon on the today screen when it has connected and get the chime in the headset.
Ok, thanks for that.
Just one last point, if the connection is lost while music is streaming, does the audio switch to the phone speaker instead??
My problem is I'll be listening to music on the subway then or some reason I'll loose the connection (interferance, low battery...whatever) and immediately music starts coming out the speaker, much to my embarrassment!
Thanks again!

iTunes AAC (m4a) with BT A2DP

I am new to BT audio, but I have come across something very strange. I have a new Motorola S9 BT headset and a Cingular 8525. I have been able to make and receive calls, pause and skip songs in Media Player 10, but I had an awful time trying to make stereo play on the headset. It delivers system beeps, alerts, and ActiveSync tones to the headset. After some hard-resets, and some troubleshooting, I found this combination does indeed deliver very nice sound quality (without the A2DPfix). The problem is that it doesn't send AAC (.m4a) songs to the BT headset. I realize that there is only limited support for AAC, (WMP doesn't recognize the META data from them) but it does play them thru the phone speaker.
Why would WMP play some formats thru the BT headset and others thru the speaker?
not sure but you can use tcpmp with aac plugin

Question about BT headset

Hi,
I have never owned a BT headset before, so I have some questions if you are willing to help me.
If I read some specifications (for example from Jabra BT8010), a BT headset could have 2 modes :
- Phone mode (mono)
- Music mode (stereo)
What is exactly the music mode? Does it mean that it controls Windows Media Player?
Or it has its own media player?
How if I want to play VIDEO (using Tcpmp for example), can I use the Music mode?
Mostly I will use the BT to watch movie and play games ....
PS: Do you use Jabra BT8010 with Kaiser? How is it?
Thanks,
since i know how frustrating it can be not to get an answer..maybe you prefer a soso answer to no answer...;-):
i used to have a stereo headset nokia hs-12 or so...but this is already some time ago...
so the way it basically works: upon pairing it will say that it supports music and phone.
depending on the layout of the headset (and the achieved compatibility with the handheld device) you will be able to control some to most features of the media players in the device. like play, pause vol up vol down, FF, RWD.. my headset worked well with windows media player, also with resco radio..tcpmp i did not have at that time yet.
hope this gives you an idea.
Andy
I think the difference is that the Phone Mode or Mono mode means that there is only ONE audio channel... suitable for making and receiving calls while the Music mode or Stereo mode means that it has TWO channels which is suitable for headphones because they have to channels.
Phone Mode BT devices can play your music but only out of one channel and in all cases Phone Mode BT devices only have one ear plug.
Music Mode BT devices can play your music or any sound for that matter out of both channels which is why they are in headphone form with two ear plugs.
MONO=1
STEREO=2
This is my take on this but please correct me if I am wrong as I would too like to get to the bottom of this.
actually that is not correct.
the so called A2DP profile is AFAIK only supported by stereo BT headsets/headphones. a mono headset will NOT get any audio sound under normal circumstances. However one can tweak the registry -and there is also software that does it - in order to direct the audio output to the headset.the price for this being, that as long as this function is active, voice dialling from the headset will not work, since this is the function that is being used to switch the audio gate.
Now, in the case of the 8010 this should be different, since it is basically a stereo headset with a detachable 2nd earpice. this one should therefore always work in A2DP mode and therefore enable audio throughput without any further tweaks.
I just picked up a BT8010 yesterday -- my local Fry's had them half-price. Stereo performance is pretty good, but there's a bit of skipping (i.e. momentary dropouts of the audio). There's a firmware update available from Jabra -- that may help.
Haven't had the chance to use the BT8010 as a phone headset yet, so I can't address that.
