I'm unable to sync my PDA with my notebook after upgreaded to "WM6.1 xplode".
I'm using ActiveSync 4.5.
Any idea?
I just got my BA and loaded the Xpload 6.11 rom and I have major bugs the wifi doesnt turn on the phone wont turn on most of the time the BA freezes lots of problems and i'm not new i have had a wizard ,Q,treo 650 and several others
nothing here
Im using xplodes this version. : WM6.1 Pro CE OS 5.2.19209 (Build 19209.1.0.2), but nothing like u guys have mentioned happened ...strange
Try setting your notebook's firewall settings, might help. happened to me after i upgraded to WM6
Enable USB to PC in Settings
In got the same error connection, after upgrade to WM6 on Qtek 9090
In my case the problem was on network properties of Qtek, when connected.
Right-click (in control-panel/network-connection) the Qtek entry / Then properties
- check only tcp/ip protocol and MS network services
- I've disabled bindings for VPN and packet-trace utility
Activesync 4.5 WORKS GREAT NOW
Have a nice WM6 upgrade.

You have to hard reset after upgrade read wiki about howto the hard reset in WM5\6\6.1 is difrend than in WM2003\2003SE.
@solved: to sync with a PC via ActiveSync you should have "DHCP Client" Windows Service enabled!!!

Can anyone help please?
I cannot get my xda mini to sync. Basically it just keeps running and nothing happens.
I have researched a lot of threads which refer to setting up a dummy server connection for what I presume is the the "exchange server" which I have attempted - is this a false IP address please?
On my PC, activesync diplays Exchange Server and my XDA with a list of the sync items below.
I keep getting a message on the XDA saying it cannot retrieve an IP address for the connection. Sometimes when I sync the try to connect via GPRS
I do have a wifi connection set up which now works (most of the time).
TIA.
I have the same problem as you with my QTEK 9100. Sometimes it works to connect the device to my portable computer (Compaq Presario 2800) via ActiveSync but mostly it does not. ActiveSync just keep looking for the device but doesnt find it.
I have also tried after that I have turned off the firewall and antivirus software, but it still doesnt work. The few (2-3 times) that it did work I had my firewall and antivirus running.
Anyone have an idea what I should do? It's a brand new QTEK 9100 (just got it a few days ago) with ROM 1.3.7.13 SVE, ROM date 9/29/05. Since I can't connect my device to the computer I can't upgrade the ROM.
turn off your firewall
disable your onboar intell wifi card if you have one
Does this happen to your device when you connect to Activesync immediatly after soft-resetting the device?
I have a similar problem, but I have no problems when I connect to AS for the first time, if I try connecting again before performing a Soft-reset AS won't find the device and the device becomes unasable, only soft-reset solves this problem.
Anyone else with these symptoms?

thanks but as I said I have turned off the firewall, and I don't have a built in wifi card in the laptop.

Yes it is the same problem no matter of the soft reboots. The only times I get it to work is when I have reinstalled the activesync 4.1 software on my laptop, after a reboot (of the laptop) it does not work; instead it only display a network icon with "Limited or no connectivity" (this is also without both firewall and antivirus installed) when I connect the device. The result is that AS can't find the device...
My theory is that it somehow looses the USB drivers installed with ActiveSync 4.1 when I reboot the computer. Anyone know how to fix this? Which (dll?) files belong to the USB drivers? I might be able to manually replace them in the correct path if I find that out...
any news??? I just met the same problem
simple enuf chaps...
i just met the same problem and the fix is pretty simple...
remove a/s 4.1
re-install a/s 3.7 / 3.8.1
re-establish the partnership
re-install 4.1
How do you get a connection between a WM5 device and ActiveSync 3.7 or 3.8?
I cannot get a partnership.
Is this because a WM5 uses IP-protocol for the connection?
thanks
Peter
I am using Dopod 838, the asia version of Qtek9100.
I also seems to have problem on activesync 4.1 which keep on sync and fail to connect. When it fail. I will try
1) In Windows Task Manager, kill wcescomm.exe
2) Kill everything in wizard
3) manually turn-on activesync4.1 on pc again.
4) connect wizard with PC again..
I just bought my phone for 2 days and i have to try a few more times to confirm it really helps.. may be you can give it a try too.

you will need AS 4.0 and above for all WM5 devices
You might want to check device manager when your device is hooked up via USB and make sure there are no exclamation marks on your handheld device.
I have a laptop and I only installed ActiveSync 4.1 and it works fine. I've even re-imaged my laptop since getting the phone and wasn't a problem second time around. I also installed 4.1 on my work PC and it works fine there too.
Not sure if you can use anything older than 4.0. (Not sure the reasons why)
At work I tried to use 3.8 (Just for the hell of it) but 4.0 updates all the USB drivers and stuff. Anything below 4.0 will not recognize WM 5.0 devices as jfran said. After installing 4.x I don't know the reason or need to uninstall then install something older then uninstall and reinstall 4.x.
It should work straight after install. However I do NOT know what happens if by chance you had an older version of ActiveSync then tried upgrading to 4.x. Should work though. I know people have had success upgrading from 3.7 and 3.8 to 4.1 to use the newer Dell Axim x51v which have WM 5.0 here in my environment.
Thanks everybody for your replies,
it was after hamish_dy tip I wanted to know how to get an connection between AS3.x and a WM5 device, since I haven't been able to do so. And I also have read that WM5 needs AS 4.x in order to sync.
Have had my Qtek9100 now for a week, and have been studied this forum in detail for a solution on my problem.
Previously I had a Qtek S100 which synced with my laptop together with AS 3.8. My company uses Groupwise as e-mail system, but with Outlook 2002 also installed on laptop I got it working (also after some days of trial).
Now with my Qtek9100 nothing happends when I plug in the USB-cable. Well not true, it will connect with an IP-address and I can from AS see the filestructure on my Qtek, BUT nothing starts syncing (calendar, contacts, e-mails,etc.). I watch task-manager but nothing kicks in. Previously with my S100, mapisp32.exe always kicked in and was the magic component between outlook and groupwise. With AS 4.1 everything is dead in task-mgr. I also receive the 85010014-error message sometimes.
Have uninstalled AS 4.1 several times, cleaned out registry of AS keys, rebooted, installed AS again, reinstalled outlook, turned firewall off, turned antivirus off, soft-reseted my qtek, and so on. Have downloaded the swedish version of AS 4.1, since my Qtek has swedish language, and thought that was the reason. But no. Soon out of options and ready to take my new qtek back to the dealer.
Any help from anyone is very much appreciated.
thx in advance.
Peter

One thing you should try before sending your device in is to try sycnching up on a clean machine, i.e. (a freshly imaged machine)
I'm assuming initiating a manual sync does nothing?

No, manual sync does nothing.
If I can't find any solution before mid-next-week, I will find a workstation at work and load only the minimal components/applications needed and try to nail down the issue, as a last try. I work with IT myself so I'm not keen to reimage my laptop, there are just too many things to reinstall.
thanks for the advice!

Active Sync Sync via USB Resolved (well for me anyway)
Over the last month I have not been able to sync my Wizard to my laptop via USB. Via bluetooth worked a treat, but I was not able to upgrade ROM via btooth.
This morning, completely by accident I resolved the issue with USB sync'ing to Active sync 4.1.
This works for me:
1. Connect Wizard to laptop via USB (you will get the usual problem, with ActiveSync saying "Connecting" and nothing else
2. Whilst phone is still connected via USB perform soft reset on phone
3. The laptop system tray should display "Found new USB device" and then say "Pocket PC USB Sync found"
4. When the laptop / pc has finished installing software and displays "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use" Disconnect the USB cable from your Wizard.
5. Wait a couple of seconds and then reconnect your Wizard via USB and hopefully it will work.
Please let me know if this works for anyone else!
One more thing you could try before throwing it back at the salesman is to check your network connections.
Go to Control Panel and select network connections - make sure you are set to view details and look for the "Local Area Connection" that has a description of "Windows Mobile-based Device". On mine it is "Local Area Connection 3". You may have to scroll to the right to see the description.
Right click the relevant connection and then click "properties". Make sure that the following entries ONLY have a tick next to them.
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
For some reason on mine none of them were initially selected :?
Click OK, when I did this it started syncing straight away!
Good luck!
I am also having a problem with activesync 4.1, up until now i have been able to sync perfectly via bluetooth or usb. However now when i try and sync activesync on my PC says connecting and nothing happens!!
I have tried everything, uninstalled, reinstalled, installed on my laptop (same problem)....
Given i have the same problem on 2 different PC's i am starting to think that its actually the Mini S and not the PC thats the problem. I feel a hard reset coming.............

Hard reset has done the trick, so it turns out all problems may not be down to our pc's......
The same thing happens for me sometimes. What I have found ou this helps.
Unplug pda from sync cable. Kill all active programs on the pda. Plug in sync cable again. Viola! It syncs.
I have the same trouble, activesync just says connecting and thats it, i havent found any particular reason for it. SR does not help, just HR which is kind of overkill. Im really glad for the sprite backup software. I have tried all different things i could think of while i couldnt sync and nothing helped. I have allready about 3 HR after me.
Apologies if this has already been covered 100 times...
Any other Wizard users having problems with Activesync? I'm using v4.1.0 of Activesync on my XP machine...and it will sync fine after I boot for 3-4 connections and then craps out. By crap out I mean that Activesync won't even start when I connect to the PC....and it won't recognize the device if I run connection wizard again. After reboot, works fine again.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yup, common problem. I find that rather than a reboot if you go into task manager and shutdown wcescomm and then restart activesync it usually works ok.
Hi there, this is my first post and hopfully one of many.
Anyway, i have had my MDA Vario for a couple of days, but i am having a few problems...
The main issue is that ActiveSync seems (at least this is what i think is happening) to stop my USB dial up modem from working.
Also, i can seem to transfer a large video file to the memory card. ActiveSync seems to start copying it OK, but after a few minutes the progress bar resets to the begining and it just keeps doing that, over and over.
Any idea's?
Thank you!
Try Active Sync Beta 2 and see if it fixes it

Kick
Allow me to kick this old topic. I just installed a WM6 rom on my wizard and I seem to be having the same problems the topicstarter faced. I haven't had these problems before. When I'm copying a large file the progress bar resets from time to time, activesync randomly disconnects and I just found out that my default LAN connection on my desktop computer has been disabled by some kind of divine power. Anybody with a solution? ActiveSync version is 4.5.0 and it has always served me well.

I installed WM6 XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a today. In order to do that, I upgraded to IPL/SPL 2.26 with the T-mobile rom. Before that, I was running the original rom from Orange (as my wizard is called M3000), IPL/SPL 1.03.
Things I've done in the meantime:
Upgrade ActiveSync (4.5.0 beta to 4.5.0), problem still exists
Sync with another computer, problem still exists
Back to t-mobile 2.26 rom, problem still exists.

This isn't a ROM issue, rather an ActiveSync issue.
Open ActiveSync, go to File - Connection Settings.
Check "Allow connections to one of the following" and select a different COM port.
That should do it.

Hi All,
Currently using a iMate pda2k (Blue Angel) with the first-released Helmi Windows Mobile 6 Professional ROM installed. I've really got two problems, but one that is annoying me more, and that is that I can't connect to my home wireless network because I have got WPA2-Personal security enabled. I found on another forum post that I need to update the AKU, but i'm pretty sure I did that when I first installed the ROM. My other problem is that I can't turn the GSM radio off (phone). But i'm more in need for a solution to the WPA2 problem. Should I upgrade to a newer ROM, because i'm thinking of updating to Windows Mobile 6.1 or is there another solution (please no 'go back to Windows Mobile 2003!).
Thanks in Advance,
Timbo.

The BA WLAN driver does not support WPA2, some users report that they ca connect to WPA2 protected networks but these cases are rare
You may try a combination of WPA/WPA2 with TKIP encription (not AES) if the router will let you. I just returned a new Belkin N router back just because my BA wont connect to the wifi, even with WPA/WPA2 mixed mode.
Hello,
If it helps you, I have a Zyxel HW660-D1 and using wpa/tkip I can connect with my BA, but only with xplode WM6.1 roms and helmi old rom (that with wifidriver v2), with other WM6.1 roms (Dvha79_ddt or Hoangdat_vista from PDAViet) I can't connect to my wireless.
Our beloved BA isn't compatible with WPA2 - AES encryption, I think it's because of wireless chipset limitation.

I am badly in need of help guys out there !!! Please get off this hook !!!
I have exactly the same problem you are having, I have been trying to work on all these issues for about 4 days until now. I can not get connected to my home wireless lan neither do I can restore my phone contacts. I even tried to go for an upgrade to another WM which is 6.1 and 6.5, but with no use cause every time I try to upgrade my PDA2K device disconnects and nothing happens except for "error 101 connection" that keeps appearing everytime I try to upgrade.
Help me out guys pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez
I am not sure how many times i have said this, BA + WPA2 = No GO, use WPA-PSK TKIP instead BA does not support WPA2, there are very rare situations that the access point can connect it in compatiblity mode like WPA, but it depends on the model ot the AP, Router, Modem or whatever device you use

I think you are mixing 3 problems here which should be addressed separately.
Posible Solutions:
#1:Read Xplodes post right after yours
#2:Clarify if you can or can not. "If Cannot" Restoring contacts saved on your phone requires the use of Active Sync. It also requires MS Outlook on your PC. You can sync via USB or Via Blue Tooth. Does your phone sync with your pc?
#3:Error 101 during flashing of new ROM = you have not connected your phone to the PC or its not in Serial Mode. You must follow step by step procedures on BlueAngel Wiki.
error 101 is present when the device is not in bootloader mode prior to upgrade, with wm2003 this was possible because thre was command to put the device in bootloader mode trough activesync, but in newer os it does not work
Hi everybody,
I have the following problem: when my htc x7500 is connected to my office pc via ActiveSync no internet connection is available on device. As a result the following operation are not allowed: update weather info, update gps satellite data and so on. On my office pc everything seems normal, synchronization works fine and I can see the device's local area connection icon on the iconbar which seems to be able to exchange data regularly.
My OS is winxp and on the device I had installed WM6 and now I have WM6.1 and both windows mobile os had this problem.
Please can someone help me finding a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Willy

Me too
This does not work for me on my Touch HD, worked fine on my previous TyTnII with WM6.1.
My activesync version hasn't changed, only my phone.
Tried enabling the 'Enable faster data synchronization' but it still doesnt work.
Has anyone resolved this ?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ASync?
I've had this problem in the distant past but can't recall off-hand how it was solved, though I would have tried to reinstall.
you can also try to go to settings->connections-connections->advanced->select network
and choose my work network in the dropdown
thanks all for your hints. The activesync re-installation did not work. Now I'll have to wait until monday before trying settings->connections-connections->advanced->select network.
I'll let you know.
