NO 3G Connect Icon - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi all,
I've downloaded this Windows 6 ROM for my T-Mobile MDA pro http://rapidshare.com/files/87505731/UNIVERSAL_6.1.rar.html
I've installed the ROM OK and all is fine with the phone. But the connection icon at the top of the screen is showing only 'G' instead of '3G' and I'm in a 3G area.
If I install the main T-Mobile Windows Mobile 5 I get the '3G' icon.
How do I test if I'm connected via 3G? Is Windows 6 show just 'G' but connected via 3G?

Since upgrading to the imate rom i get the G icon now! :(

I have a T-Mobile Vario and I just put on the new imate rom. when ever im not running wifi i get the G icon (GPRS) in the top bar constantly. Ive had to amend the GPRS settings so it doesnt connect over GPRS by mistake. Is there a way to make it go back to the opposite arrows with the x icon?
TIA
Doug
The 'G' is the normal behaviour. It doesn't mean you're connected to GPRS, it just indicate that your network has GPRS coverage.
On the contrary, the two arrows with the 'x' mean that you cannot connect to GPRS.
So don't worry, your wizard is behaving correctly.

Connection question

Hi!
When connecting to the internet the icon on top of the screen changes from a triangle-ish thing with bars/columns under it to a icon with the text "3G" and arrows beneath it (which all of you probably know...). I know im connected through 3G to internet by then but what about when that icon changes to 3G with bars/columns instead of the arrows. Does that mean that a connection is established but I don't actually download/upload any data?
Basically what I'm wondering is if I can have the phone connected to the internet for faster access without any traffic going on until I start, for instance, surfing the web. Until now I always deactivate the connection when I'm done with it.
Another question I have is if there's another icon for hsdpa (aka 3.5G or 3G+) or if the phone still uses the 3G icon for those connections.
Thanks in advance!
"I have is if there's another icon for hsdpa (aka 3.5G or 3G+) "
then it show a H rather then 3g
having a data connection open don't mean it transfer data it only do that if a program running tranfer data

silly Q: 3g/HSDPA

trying to get a Sony Vaio laptop working (Z31MN) with the built-in WWAN connection, and it's refusing to pickup my orange simcard.
anyway, so i can determine if it's simcard or laptop, how do i know whats available on the simcard?
currently running Dutty's Leo R4 rom, and
'3g' OFF - 'G' icon (GPRS?)
3g ON = '3g' icon
but how do i know if it's connecting via HSDPA? should i get a 'H' icon?
1. to share the 3g from your phone with your laptop over wifi use WMWifiRouter
2. yes H icon == hsdpa

Problems using wifi

Hi all
New to this forum and scratching my head attempting to use wifi after recently purchasing a HTC Tattoo with Orange.
When I go into the settings menu, I am able to establish a connection to a wi-fi network at home and the wi-fi signal icon is displayed on my phone. However, when I click on browser icon to use the internet all I receive a message relating to orange world stating that the page can only be accessed via the the orange GPRS network.
Try Opera Mini.
Dejandekic - many thanks!!!

3G connection on TD2 (5358+)

Hello,
Since a while I have a SIM with wireless internet on my TD2 5358+ WM 6.5
Works fine only very slow.
I wonder if I have 3G reception, it’s status says G (boxed) and a small G with the antenna indicator.
Pressing this icon displays connectivity, mobile internet (GPRS)
When I google for this phone I see pictures displaying also a boxed H.
Who can explain if I use the best settings?
John.
G is 3G, H is HSDPA
G is gprs, it will show an H if connected to hsdpa, and 3g if connected to 3g. If it displays an H, you have the fastest speeds, followed by 3g and then gprs. Try going into the comm manager and changing into 3g gsm mode
