I have a T-Mobile Vario and I just put on the new imate rom. when ever im not running wifi i get the G icon (GPRS) in the top bar constantly. Ive had to amend the GPRS settings so it doesnt connect over GPRS by mistake. Is there a way to make it go back to the opposite arrows with the x icon?
TIA
Doug
The 'G' is the normal behaviour. It doesn't mean you're connected to GPRS, it just indicate that your network has GPRS coverage.
On the contrary, the two arrows with the 'x' mean that you cannot connect to GPRS.
So don't worry, your wizard is behaving correctly.
bye

Have the AT&T RSU A.20.10
Phone works fine, SMS works fine, .... GPRS ????
I have manually updated the T-Mobile Internet Connection settings and have been able to connect to GPRS only once during the last 24 hours. Any ideas on what might be the problem??
Thx in advance
Now it works
Placed my SIM card in a Microsoft SmartPhone and connect to GPRS. Them placed the SIM card back into my T-Mobile and presto, it connected. I am connect using the Wireless Modem app as I write this.
Very strange!!

Once again GPRS will not work. Seems like the AT&T RSU is very flakey on the T-Mobile network.
Does not seem like the radio recognizes that I am in a GPRS area. The two times I have had GPRS work, the radio showed "G" in the network provider bubble. GPRS did not work all morning and then suddenly "G" appeared and then I could use GPRS.
Now I am home and the "G" symbol does not show up and I have connected to GPRS here many times before.
Any thoughts???
Previously when I click on the GPRS icon ( square with "G" ) and it will show me the GPRS connection option for me to click and connect to GPRS. However starting WM5, I found it shows only "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings".
May I know how to get back the shortcut thing ?
hi
with mda2 at wm2003 I had after click at G (or signal strange button) posibility to connect to gprs, at wm5 this option is gone, it only show settings link. Should it be changed?
I've the same question.
thanks
Why? The wizard connects when you start any application that requires gprs access and keep the connection as long as you don't end it. What would be the value of connecting when it isn't used anyway?
I recently purchased imate 8150 and i am having very strange connectivity issues. when i am in an area where there is only GPRS, it connects fine, but when i am in the area where there is edge/3G, it does not connect at all and displays the message "cannot connect for unknown reason"
is there a way in registry to do something about it? sim is 3.5 G. when the connection is being configured, it gets detected as GPRS only.in my treo 750, connection is seen as 3G, GPRS or something like that.
i'll really appreciate any help
Hi!
When connecting to the internet the icon on top of the screen changes from a triangle-ish thing with bars/columns under it to a icon with the text "3G" and arrows beneath it (which all of you probably know...). I know im connected through 3G to internet by then but what about when that icon changes to 3G with bars/columns instead of the arrows. Does that mean that a connection is established but I don't actually download/upload any data?
Basically what I'm wondering is if I can have the phone connected to the internet for faster access without any traffic going on until I start, for instance, surfing the web. Until now I always deactivate the connection when I'm done with it.
Another question I have is if there's another icon for hsdpa (aka 3.5G or 3G+) or if the phone still uses the 3G icon for those connections.
Thanks in advance!
"I have is if there's another icon for hsdpa (aka 3.5G or 3G+) "
then it show a H rather then 3g
having a data connection open don't mean it transfer data it only do that if a program running tranfer data
