Hello. Does anyone know if there is any software for downloading torrents on Windows Mobile 5 or 6?
Cheers,
WinMobile Torrent
WMTorrent
dit you actualy made a little effort in searching?
if you type in google 'torrent windows mobile", the first hit is already bingo.
this forum is cluttering with useless questions from people that don't know nothing about stuff.
e.g. in every forum here on xda you will see someone asking what to do with a cab file.
Please don't be one of them and just search, this forum is made specially for app development, rom development and sometimes hardware issues.
Everything software related you can find on the web, in a manual, or in a manual from the web.
So please, keep your mindlessness out of here.
Paul
i spent ages searchin google, and all i got were Torrent sites offering windows mobile downloads in the form of torrents.
Thanks Ollie D for a useful answer.

What do you do with the CAB file? (JK)

Free Torrent Software for WM?
Are there any free programs for downloading via bit torrent on Windows Mobile, or a web interface (like uTorrent's) that will download to the phone? I'd love to be able to grab my daily radio shows over Wifi without remembering to sync later.
Thanks!
in defence of muggles....cannot find any other torrent app other than wmtorrent...and wmtorrent is so sucking s/w even with the 2mbps data plan download doesnot start. Tried waiting fr hours..

wish there was a keygen for latest version of winmobile torrent v3, wud be so cool, speed is awesome works great
in theory utorrent *should* work as it's java based...although I haven't tried it yet. I use wmTorrent and yes it works nicely.
What I'd like to see is a mobile version of *****e though.

Opera have no intention on writing a browser for Windows Pocket PC.
They will however be relasing a version for Windows Mobile 2005, as the OS will be the same on both Pocket PC and Smartphone, so giving a sizable target market.
but the java opera version works ok on pocketpc's
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,42332
but it being a java miplet would prob mean it's not the fastest thing
I'm trying to find a decent torrent application, preferably free. I've heard of WinMobile Torrent, but... that costs money, I believe. is there anything else flying around the interwebs?

I second that
I just used winmobile torrent tonight for the first time. It works well.
this just lets you control the torrents on your desktop through your mobile?
try pocketG2
Im curious as to when this comes in handy? Wouldnt it be better to just tether the phone and use the app on your computer?
I just use remote desktop to manage my torrents when im mobile. I dont know how i lived without Remote Desktop before, very useful.

I would definatly like to use my phone. Since I use my phone for most of my internet access,it makes more sense to run it on the phone.
i agree, i got new orbit 2 and like use a torrent program or newsgroup one, as i always find newsgroup news reader but none that can download the binary files
i used use my N95 months back download torrents at night through my wireless router, than do it through pc and it was same speed and time really with a huge plus in that instead of 500w power pack going away and making quite bit fan noise with all the case fans i had a silent phone on charge doing same job at like a few watts of power.
quiet and very power effective even a laptop uses like 50w+ to a phone
Berserk87
No it's a standalone PPC app. I don't even have a PC. Check it out! : )
The big problem with the WinMobile app is that most private torrent communities don't allow it.
Sorry for my bad english im from Mexico
The guys of skyfire has released it. You dont have to register for the free beta.
Skyfire v0.85 The best internet browser
Description:
Skyfire brings the PC internet experience to your mobile. Watch videos on YouTube or Hulu, connect with your friends on Myspace or Facebook, shop on Amazon, or listen to music. If you can experience it on your computer, you now can do it with Skyfire on the go. Skyfire is fast, easy to use and available for free for many smart phone models.
What is Skyfire?
Skyfire is a free, downloadable mobile web browser that allows you to experience the internet on your phone exactly like on your PC. Now, you can use the full web from your mobile phone with unprecedented speed and simplicity – without the typical restrictions and limitations that current ‘mobile web’ efforts offer. It’s “The Web”, not some mobile web.
A brand new browsing experience.
Mobile browsing exactly like your PC.
With Skyfire on your phone you can for the first time ever shop, watch web video, listen to web music and stay connected on your social network -- just as you would on your PC. We're talking about full-featured PC versions of your favorite websites. Skyfire gives you speedy page loads, full audio, images and video. From Myspace, Facebook, YouTube to Hulu - it's the full web experienced on your phone.
The real web, served-up right.
Unlike other mobile browsers, Skyfire supports the desktop version of Adobe Flash applications so sites, including those that serve-up video and music, are rendered exactly as you would expect - just like your PC. You will instantly recognize the content, be familiar with the page layout -- which is not true for most mobile browsing experiences. We support all that's good about today's web - not just Flash, but also Silverlight, Ajax, QuickTime and more. And even better: Skyfire evolves with the newest capabilities without you having to do anything.
Go anywhere, see anything.
Not only do we deliver video and audio, we also deliver everything else you routinely do on the web. Get maps, check sport scores, view weather forecasts, read the news, check flights, and stay active on your favorite social networks. From the Top 10 of websites all the way down to the obscurest of pages - you'll do it all from your mobile phone just like you do on your PC.
Blazing fast.
Skyfire is faster than any mobile web browser you've ever used. You'll load web pages as fast as your PC and eliminate the long delays and error messages you get with other mobile browsers. Don't take our word for it, check out this bake-off by Laptop Magazine and see how we handily outclassed the iPhone 3G.
Easy to use.
It's easy to experience the PC web on your phone with Skyfire's clickable content and intuitive navigation. We know it's a small screen and that's why we made navigating intuitive with full screen, thumbnails and adaptable zooming modes. You simply and quickly get to exactly where you want to be on a page - navigating at speeds that make the experience enjoyable.
Quick content and simple search.
All the places you routinely visit are a click away. We have handy links to popular websites on the start page. Your bookmarks and your browsing history is just a click away. Better yet, you can even bookmark your specific view (zoom level, position) of content on a web page to get exactly to the right place in one click.
We made search simple. Use our nifty SuperBar to perform a search or enter a URL from a single field. We even suggest the most commonly used search keywords as you type. Plus the search results are from Google and Yahoo and are presented in easy to read tabs for each category: web, images, and videos, and maps. Simple and it's all a click away.
Plenty of handy features.
We're always adding new features as we roll out our beta releases. Recently, we made it easy to share and easy to find mobile sites.
Discover something on the web that you want to share? Now you can send it to your friends from Skyfire via a text message. We even shorten the URL to easily fit into a single SMS text message with room to spare for your own words.
Don't like the big web page on your small screen? Want to go to the mobile site instead? If we find a mobile version of the same site, Skyfire lets you know - then you decide if you want the mobile or full website. Simply look for a 'Mobile Version' link at the top left of a page. Skyfire even renders iPhone specific web sites nicely.
On the phone you own - and free!
You can load Skyfire on your existing Windows Mobile (version 5 or 6) or newer Symbian Series 60 phones in a few steps. In a matter of minutes, you can install it either over the air or via your PC. It's free - what more can we say. No need to buy an expensive new phone and get locked into a new contract just because you want a better mobile internet experience.

Many have been aware of it since the development started. I'm not saying you can't post it, just do these types of post in the General forum.
Also, I suggest removing your download link.

you are right champ but here is so many software that should not been here and a first "free" skyfire beta is really interesting.
I installed the cab but skyfire finds no connection ? It starts searching and runnes hsdpa on my polaris but i only see "connecting..." but nothing happens. Is this still limited for US citizens ? or only for wwe ROMs ?

Shouldn't be limited to the US, Skyfire's page gives the option for users outside the US and doesn't require the login anymore.
EDIT: Looks like they only have US, Canada, & UK listed for avail countries. Not bad though, ESPN loaded in under 5 sec, video playback is decent, but I still hate the UI.
0.8.5 does not work for me, in France... go back to v0.8.0.
Phone : Trinity
i begin to hate this skyfire idiots. why does a application ony run in three countries !

It's likely to do with regions. I tried accessing www.hulu.com from it, knowing that it won't work on a desktop browser as I'm in the UK, and guess what? Doesn't work as it knows I'm in the UK.. As all pages are pre-rendered on the Skyfire servers, that means that I'm being served by a Skyfire server in the UK. If I were being served by a US server, Hulu would have worked.
:bah
no wvga support
Skyfire works great here in Canada!
Got to get used to the browser but, overall, it's decent.
Well, it's a good FREE alternative to PIE.... no tough to beat
Im from Mexico and Skyfire works very well on wifi
I have a Blueangel
Skyfire is good. I have tried the previous version which didn't support surfing via-proxy setting. Has this version fix that?
correct me if I'm wrong..but this has been out for at least a month hasn't it? I've been using it for at least a month
last version doesn't work!
ok it installs loads then dont work just ses locating and nothing happens this is over wifi and it works as im posting this via opera any ideas?

No, because some of the Opera builds have been redeveloped by users here, not to mention the work it takes to obtain the builds. Skyfire is a free app for anyone to download. Big difference, pay attention before you decide to argue with my point.
Thanks daniel2020,
Now I can use Skyfire in my country, as I can't download it in the official website!!!!
It is working here, but there are a few considerations: it is not real VGA, Opera is, opera is more zoom friendly.
Mozilla has for a long time been engaged in Firefox Mobile for Windows Mobile to compete with, for example. Opera Mobile and Internet Explorer Mobile. Now that Mozilla released a pre-beta release so users who want it can try the new browser. It is very important to say that there may be bugs, etc.. so it will probably not get the same experience as such. Opera Mobile or the new Internet Explorer 6, because the stability will not be so high.
You are very welcome to make your experience of the program below in comments.
You can download it HERE. You may think why is it called Fennec? That's because is the development name for Firefox Mobile.
By the way, haven't seen it here. That's why I post it
downloading now wil try it soon
Tried to open it after installing resulting in a very slow diamond but no explorer
To beta for me
Just tried it, but no response...

nice app , thanks for sharing it with us

Thank you very much for your application, I've searched for an ftpserver for long... unfortunally on my Trinity WM6.5 (chanvi ultralight) it doesn't start.
I hope in other feedback so I can realize if it's my device's problem or not (I've installed the .NET CF)
You might want to give Total Commander a try:
http://ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
It has a FTP client built into it that works really well for me.

If you're looking for a FTP server rather than a client then try MochaSoft's freeware FTP server (if you haven't already!). It's pretty good and you can't argue with free
The Windows Mobile version of Total Commander is free. The full PC version is shareware though.
ftp w/ ssl?
any ftp client that supports explicit SSL/TLS?

Thank you for the tip. I had already tried it but i wasn't able to insert the freeware license key, because some troubles with my keypad i supposed...
I'll try one more time now with wm6.5, maybe i can register it...
I installed this and it looked good, but now when I try to run it I just get the busy cursor for about 5 seconds then nothing - the app fails to launch.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling - same thing happens (ie nothing).
I've tried uninstaling, deleting the program files folder and reinstalling - same.
Is there maybe something in the registry that's tripping it up?
I get no errors when I uninstall or reinstall, the app just doesn't start up when I try to run it. (I've tried running from the lin kin 'Programs' and direct for the directory where it installs, and have tried installing on internal storage and onto my SD card).
Would really like to use this, but no joy at the moment.

Hi,

There is also no Exit button or menu entry....
Does anyone get this soft to work as it should ?

I discovered there was a bug with filezilla ftp servers ( Blame or them.. but basicly they for some reason think its importent to include the name of the ftp server when saying what type of directory listing its using).
Hopefully there will be a update next week that fixes this. If you know what type of ftp server you where failing against can you let me know?
.cab file is wrong file?i dld it but when click it says erro.plz run application first
Has anyone found a workaround to get this to work with FileZilla server. I have the latest version of both and still not working.
