vista activesync - Mogul, XV6800 General

i have searched all forums here and still need some assistance. just got a new laptop with windows vista. downloaded the windows mobile center from microsoft (32 bit). my titan shows that it is charging but does not sync. checked the advanced settings in my usb to pc connection tab. can someone please point me in the correct direction? many thanks in advance.

Try UNchecking the Advanced setting in USB to PC connection tab. My Titan won't connect unless it's unchecked.

all ready tried that. thanks for your reply.

Big ActiveSync Problem

Hi!
I just got a mda compact (my first ppc) and tried to get it run with activesync. but my pc just wont find the ppc. i deactivated all firewalls, etc. but that didnt help. i also did some resets on both pc and ppc, but it didnt help either. what am i doing wrong?? do i have to run activesync on my mdac when trying to connect?
it is bizarre, but the ppc-led is turning orange when plugging the usb-cable... is it possible, that activesync needs a special network-link to the ppc? my one and only network connection is the one to my internet router...
i also tried older activesync versions, but that doesnt help....
has anyone an idea?? i would warmly welcome one....... need help!
greetings
nathan
I'd try the 4.5 beta I find this better than the current release. Install the SW with the phone disconnected and connect when prompted.
Soft reset the phone before you start.
When the phone is first connected windows should detect it as new hardware and install drivers
I prefer to avoid beta versions. Check under Connection Settings and make sure that Allow USB connections is checked.
where do i find the connection settings? i'm using win mobile 2003se...
in my settings->connections tab, i dont find any sort of "allow usb connections"

its on the properties/settings of your activesync on your computer...
hope this helps...

Pls help! i cant sync my htc p3300 with vista

hi everyone,
i have an artemis (mobile5) and the OS in my computer is VISTA, i tried to install activesync 4.5 but it told me cannot run on this computer, i downloaded the activesync for vista from microsoft website, but nothing....
Please if anyone know how to sync, send me a message
thank you in advance
I don't use Vista, but I think you should try Windows Mobile Device Center which is designed for replacing ActiveSync in Windows Vista.
Hmmmm yes if you have Vista, like I do, then it's not Activesync, but Windows Mobile Device Centre. Have you downloaded this?
When connecting my Artemis to Vista, it connects, but then takes a good 30 seconds before it begins synicing, but then completes very quickly.
If you have WMDC, what firewall are you using? Is WMDC and Sync Centre blocked?
thank you for your help, i already have wmdc but i think the problem is from the firewall, i sould disable it . i will try when i arrive home. thank you very much
anoir - have you now resolved this?
my vista notebook does not sync with my p3300!
no reaction at all from windows mobile device center!
try go to settings - connections -USB to PC and uncheck "enable advanced network functionality"
this worked for me. started to sync after 10 sec
Thank you did the trick

ActiveSync on Dopod D810

I have had no success syncing my Dopod D810 with my Vista Home Premium computer. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling WMDC, changing the USB-PC connection option, USB points of connection ~ all to no avail. Although my Dopod is recognised as a HTC USB Sync in device manager, WMDC will not show it connected (though the 'more connections' option reveals device connected)and i cannot see it in explorer etc.
One thing I have noticed is that on the Dopod an advice page occasionly (generally after installing WMDC and reconnecting) appears from ActiveSync saying that i need to install activesync on the computer to sync this device. Then occasionly ActiveSync remains active after i have disconnected the device.
Could someone please assist me with this problem
I had a similiar problem, not sure if this will help but I had to manually disable ActiveSync and make sure it was disabled when I plugged in my phone.
If it's detecting as HTC USB Sync in device manager, I think it might be connecting in the wrong mode. You sure you have the "allow advanced connections" box ticked in the usb / pc section in settings?
RaindancerAU, thx for the reply,
Tried the 'Enable advanced network functionality' check box, but no better, no connected icon on Dopod, and no recognition of connection from computer. Uncheck box, and HTC USB sync starts, but WMDC not connected. Dopod also shows error that 'to connect you must install Activesync 4.1 or higher on the desktop computer.
As an aside, I have been able to sync this Dopod perfectly with a Windows XP machine elsewhere in the house.
Frustrates the h*ll out of me!

Internet Connection

When I had Windows XP and ActiveSync my phone could connect to the internet when it was connected to my pc with USB.
Now I have Vista and my phone can not connect to the internet.
The ActiveSync had an option, "This PC is connected to the internet" I can not find that in Vista's Mobile Center.
Do you have any solution???
Windows Mobile Device Centre aka Windows Vista's Active Sync
a little search arnd the forum could have saved you some time. anyways here's what you do.
Since you are using Vista, you cant use or install Active Sync in Windows Vista. They replaced Active Sync with Windows Mobile Device Centre [WMDC].
When you connect your device to your computer, WMDC should be able to recognize it. Then go to Mobile Device Settings and choose Connection Settings.
In the Connection Settings, the third option is This Computer is connected to:
choose Automatic
Your PDA/Device should now be able to browse the internet or Logon to Live Messenger etc.
If this doesnt solve your problem, please i recommend you to search the forum with the terms being Windows Mobile Device Centre

I have no such option, only have 2. allow usb connections and allow connections to one of the following.

have your shared your internet connection, through the properties of your LAN connection.
once you do that, you may have to reinstall WMDC once again for it to pickup the internet share option.

ATT 8525 Tethered

PRoblem short and sweet:
1 laptop running win xp
1 desktop running vista home premium
ATT 8525 running wm6 and rom ver 3.62.502.2
radio 1.54.07.00
Both machines update daily for updates.
So i use my ATT 8525 to do internet sharing, laptop connects and works great. I can even do some bit torrent downloading but it is slow
the desktop machine running vista will connect but the the internet sharing application on the phone will show a message "waiting on network" and vista will disconnect. problem happens in no apparent time frame and happens with all applications.
THis has happened on ATT 3g network and Tmobiles edge network so it has to be a vista problem. I know this is not a vista forum but hoping someone knows what the problem might be.
I've done alot of goggling and found nothing on this.
Thanks for reading. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
hm.. if i understand this correctly, you are trying to get both machines to connect to the phone at the same time? that will not happen because the internet sharing is only designed to share 1 at a time. i believe there is some router software for windows mobile that can get your connection from the phone to a broadcasted wifi. you can then connect as many machines as your device can support to the "router" ran by the phone. the tilt should be able to handle 10 clients.
another way would be to share your connection that is shared with the mobile.
mobile <-> laptop <-> desktop
connect the mobile sharing to the laptop and let the laptop share the connection with the desktop and connect the desktop with the laptop, not the phone. this will add significant latency but who cares if you want to use 3g data, its always slow. i cant think of any other way you can do this but give the second one a try first. its probably the cheapest to set up.
No, i am not trying to use both computers at the same time. i was just saying that it works on the xp machine no problem, it's the vista machine that is not working correctly.
Connecting with Vista...
Curious can you sync with the Vista machine... I suggest trying this (I have the opposite setup as you but had a similar problem... Desktop-XP Laptop-Vista)...
Under connection settings, USB to PC - there is a box that says "Enable advanced network functionality" I have to check and uncheck this when switching between the two...
For me (maybe different for you) I have to have the box checked on my laptop (Vista) but UNCHECKED for my desktop (XP)... not sure if this is tied to the OS or the hardware, but give it a shot. But this allows me to both sync and use Internet Sharing accordingly.
Hope it helps.

Well i have uncheck the ""Enable advanced network functionality" on the 8525 for my vista machine. So far I am staying connected even under heavy network load. We will just see how it goes.
Thanks KZIWarrior.
