I have a fantastic O2 EXEC and I have istalled a JasJar Italian rom. At now all ok but I have some problem with some symbols: for example the slash / in original rom (and in my keyboard) is FN + o but in Italian jasjar rom is FN + 7. This is only 1 of many different position of symbols. Can you help me??

I assume you have the english qwerty style keyboard. Try this: you need a registry editor - HKey_Local_Machine\Software\OEM\Qwerty\ put in 66569 instead of whatever is there.
If this doesn't work for you then someone will have the number you need. I know the German qwertz kbd is 66567.

Hi there.
If you recently upgrade the ROM on your SoftBank X01HT to an English ROM - your keyboard will most likely need to be updated since it's got a Japanese keyboard layout where the English ROM is using a English keyboard layout.
I've created a .CAB file that changes the registry for your SoftBank X01HT's Japanese Keyboard Layout to English Keyboard Layout.
Below are the changes that the .CAB file will update:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411
I've done my own dogfood testing - it works for me. I thought I'd share this tool to others fellow X01HT users.

easy.... search for a program called WinCE Cab Manager by OCP Software....

I hate to be a nigglepicker, but shouldn't it be "changes the registry for your Softbank X01ht's English Keyboard Layout to Japanese Keyboard Layout"?

For newbies like me, let me add for others that just got this phone that the file needs to be copied to the device via explorer and run, and then the phone needs to be rebooted.

I feel kinda dumb right now. I used this fix yesterday and it worked perfectly. I upgraded to WM6, my keyboard reverted back to the Chinese layout so I tried to use this again. Every time I try to run it now, Dreamweaver opens it. When I try to run it from the microSD, it opens it as a text file. Any ideas?

Today I installed WM5SE_rev5 and noticed that i can't change the keybd layout of the 'hard' keyboard from the registry files like on WM6:

Yes, but Windows Mobile 5 doesn't have: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locate in the Registry file

Now the next task (a smaller one). I need to remapp the QWERTY layout so that I can get the special keys to work.
Does anyone know what do to? I read somewhere to edit the Registry, but I would need the value to set for the Swedish keyboard.

1) you need AEKMap 1.3 driver. http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php FreeMode.
2) and you need to change your default keyboard buttons - you may build this layuot layuot with this driver. example for schwedish and samsung
As mentioned above, by the goldcard method. So happy with it!!
But the small prob is that i need the Dutch language XT9. It's not included in this ROM. There are others like French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Yess... by installing the cab below (This really really works!!!!)
for WWE version with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and it will add Dutch!!

I flashed it to 1.48 NL and was thinking about flashing to the 1.48 WWE (and I don't mind loosing XT9, never use it anyway) but wonder if there's any reason except for the fact I like the english language more
Nou, ik moet zeggen dat 1.48 WWE sneller aanvoelt en smsen beter gaat ivm keyboard. Wat mij irriteerde was dat als ik apps installeerde deze in en map "programmabestanden" kwam. Sommige apps installeerden zichzelf dan weer in "program files". Dat is eigenlijk mijn grote hoofd reden.
back to english... i found a dutch t9 cab for the new touch input. It was meant for diamond 2 but works on my HD2!!!

Flashed my touch HD with wm6.5 and it works great. Unfortunatly the T9 is set to English. So I Installed the T9 Input 14 Languages Update.cab (found here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402121) on my Touch HD and hoped i could use the dutch T9 dictionairy. Instead of enabling all the languages, my T9 dictionairy stopt working. When i tap any symbol it vibrates but it doesn't fill in the symbol.
When i use an registry editor to check this:

click AvailableLanguages and add 0113 to the value e.g:

check the first post for the .cab file, install it on your phone and u r good to go!!!!
sorry I never reported back, yes the last 0913 thing solved the xt9 crashes when you switch languages..! it has never failed me again!
edit: just extracted the cab, it changes exactly what I changed including the 0113/0913 LanguageKeyboardMapping key.
but watch out the maker of the cab asumed you have the WWE version with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and it will add Dutch.. if you don't, better set it manually with the 3 keys provided above..

extract the 14 languages cab you used with winrar or something and see what changes it makes to the registry in _setup.xml
