Help!! My screen is cracked and won't turn on! - Mogul, XV6800 General

OK, here's what happened... I was upstairs on the computer with my 6800 on my lap. When i got up, my phone bounced once on the carpet, and hit the ground downstairs... the screen is cracked really bad and i can't see anything but it still turns on.
Now the problem is how do i get my contacts on my cracked 6800 phone, to my replacement 6800? The verizon person i talked to said they have to press something on the screen in order to transfer the contacts. Is there any other way? Some sort of program that i can use to view what is going on in my phone? Thanks for any help!!

You can use Jeyo's Mobile Extender to import/export contacts/PIMs from your phone to your computer.

if you have synced with outlook on a computer, it should transfer your contacts to the new phone once you sync that one to the computer.

does syncing with outlook require looking at the screen? because i haven't synced with outlook yet. Any alternatives that are free? i dont want to pay for it unless i have to.

for a similar problem(screen wouldn't respond) i saw someone reccomend this:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
i tried it briefly, but what it does, it let you click from your computer onto your ppc, so any problem you have with the screen, should be solved with this.
assuming your phone does turn on, and its not completely shot.
good luck,

Ugh broken screen backup?

Hey there guys.
Dropped the Uni and the screen fell off and smashed, its still conected via the wire, and i can still sync it to my pc.
However, I have stuff on there that i would like to keep, such as texts (sms), pic messages (mms). Idealy, i would like to be able to "image" it, like you do with a PC, then copy it onto the replacement phone (already sorted, under 24 hours with o2 insurance) so its exactly the same.
Is something like that possible? Bearing in mind i cant see/use the screen.
Ive tried to find a screen control app, but they all the ones I have found require you to run something on the device, which i cant do.
If it helps, its running WM6 and im running Vista.
Any help at all would be really appreciated
Thanks,
Chris
hm
dw, i gave up and just put everyhting back on there.

broken

CANCELED- see second post
So, I am a regular at the kaiser forums, but i recently got my hands on an 8125. I am not a complete noob, but i don't have much direct experience with this phone yet. the problem is, the screen has a crack and displays nothing. the device turns on, and i can get it to make noises, such as the voice command and shutdown, but i cannot get it to connect to my pc via activesync. i have v 4.5. i believe this to be because the previous owner had a pin # set. I would like to do a hard reset, connect it via active sync and load soti pocket explorer so i can see how well it still runs, and whether purchasing a new screen is worth it. i have read all the posts/wikis i can find on hard resetting this device, however, they all assume you can see what is on the screen. can someone give me a detailed report on EXACTLY what happens? how long it takes, what lights flash when, etc?
thanks!
cancel
cancel that, just got soti installed. everything looks good, aside from the screen. anybody know a good place to get one, or is somebody selling one?
i have a spare wizard screen that i know works if your interested

Backup with potential damaged digitizer

Evening all,
My phone has not been working since Sunday night, the screen and buttons are completely unresponsive. I recently put a password on the phone and when I turn it on it gets this far and I cannot enter anything to get any further.
I think a replacement handset is in order (this should be no problem) but my concern is getting a backup of the phone before I do. I've got backup software installed on it and want at the very least my contacts and recent text inbox details.
When I plug it in to the PC it tries to go to the "Disk Drive" option (I can't see this on screen but I know it is) so I can't do anything to make it use activesync.
Anybody have any ideas for me to backup the phone without being able to get into it?
(Sorry for the long-ish post)
You can try to remove your memory card thus forcing the phone to connect through ActiveSync when you plug it in.

Thanks for the reply.
Yea, I've taken the memory card out but it didn't seem to make a difference, stumped me a bit. My phone is on the "incorrect password" attempt screen now (I haven't been able to attempt entering a password) and I think I need to get past this for it to allow me the option to go into ActiveSync.

Unresponsive Screen - Backup/MyMobiler

Hi guys.
So my phone seems to have buggered up and Orange are replacing it for me.
Anyways i have been able to get contacts of it using active sync after much hassle. I found that it defaults to Acive Sync on connection if you remove the Mem Card. Anyways.
Im trying to install MyMobiler to sort some crap oiut on the fone. Unfortunately i cant authorise the installation as the screen will not let me do so. is there any way around this?
regards
J
Without your Touchscreen it's a bust!!!! I don't think there is anything that can be done I suppose.....

Just arrived! Outlook 2010 x64 issue

Just got my off contract streak from Dell Thursday (VERY quick! Ordered it Tuesday afternoon!).
Fired it up, downloaded the sync software from the phone and it won't sync with
outlook 2010 (X64). From what I could tell, it's an issue with the plug in with
the x64 driver, not talking to the pc-suite software?
I dumped office and installed Thunderbird & Open office. Works on the x64 laptop and should work ok on the x64 computer at home.
I haven't really used it other than playing around with it, but it sure is a LOT faster than my HTC Touch Pro2! Even with 1.6 droid.
Nothing against my devoted TP2, but, MAN that Streak screen is NICE!
Hope to get it rooted this weekend, and have 2.2 up on it by Monday.
Now, it will just take some time undoing all the things I know about windows mobile. I've been with it since the Dell Axium x3 days and pocket PC.
Congrats! I'm at home waiting for mine to arrive today! Moving from TP2 also! Very excited!
I went from Vuze to Streak, a HUGE improvement
Suggestion, spend the extra bucks and get an exchange account or just go gmail for the OTA sync... screw the desktop clients
I have personal exchange account via 1and1 and corporate exchange and can access them via Touchdown (comes with the streak)
I've been thinking of porting my att/yahoo email to gmail, just for that
very reason. I just need to set up 2 accounts so I can keep my work
email (the reason for a smartphone) separate from my home email.
If you are like me, you are the "I.T." guy for the family and get flooded
with "have you seen this? It was on the internet, must be true" emails
I don't know who invented remote desktop, but boy I'll tell you, it sure helps
cutting down on pulling your hair when you are trying to help a family
member.
Looking forward to playing around with this beast this weekend. I just
can't get over how nice the screen looks!

I'm similar in that I have my corporate email and my personal email, and like to keep them seperate (same with calendars) - I use gmail for my personal email, bought touchdown for my corporate email, and use google voice for voicemail (unanswered calls to my Streak get forwarded to my google voice number to be recorded, and I can then use the google voice app as a "Visual Voicemail" type client.)

Welcome to the Streak Family best device out there
I would have a good look round the forum their are a lot of good tutorials on the streak and android you will learn a lot and don't forget the most important bit ENJOY!!!
Still on 1.6 for now
Been fiddling with it for the last couple hours, downloading a few apps, changing the icons/widgets on the screens etc...only thing I can't figure out is the manual says that when the streak is on, a simple press of the on/off button will lock the screen? A simple press does nothing, and a full press of a second or two pops up the menu to turn off the phone? 1.6 glitch, or will downloading another screen lock app fix that?
It's nice to FINALLY have a BT headset that all the message prompts, ringtones etc ACTUALLY WORK! The obviously aren't using the Widcom BT stack LOL, or a better version! Never did work right in Windows mobile. It would either start playing ringtones, cut out, then go again, or just not play them at all through BT, even with A2DP. Don't even get me started on trying to BT dial the phone.
I can either hit the mic button on the phone, or just hold my (jawbone icon) button to get the prompt and it so far has WORKED EVERY TIME!
Will be playing with it all weekend, need to find a beltclip case, don't want to risk it in my pocket.
P.S. Have I mentioned the screen??

Hmm, strange - I always use the power button to lock the screen. Sometimes a factory reset can help resolve some glitches, but I don't know if it will help in this case since I've not had it happen.
Yep, the factory reset fixed the sleep screen issue.
I ported my address book up to gmail. Kind of nice...the minute I change something on gmail, it sends it right to the phone.
If I can just find a stateside place to get a belt clip case, I'll be set.
Looks like Dell is about ready to pop the 2.x update, placeholder already
on their support site.
This weekend, I did get a chance to read up on rooting, hacking/mods.
I come from the old pocket pc (dell Axim) days, so I've had pocket pc/windows
mobile forever. I can root around (bad pun) in the registry like nobodies business,
but it's been similar to learning how to walk all over again with android.
Thought I was too old to learn something new
I went to Target and sound a zippered DS case for 10.00.
http://www.target.com/DS-Play-Throu...om_size-bin,target_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0
I ripped out the plastic liner that would hold the DS inside and glued the zipper closed so it would only open across the top

hey there fellow Streak'rs. I bought my ATT Streak 2 weeks ago for full price. I must say its the best $550 ive ever spent. even with only having 1.6 donut os at the moment it way out does any wm or icrap phone by far and ive owned both. I live in an area in southeast alaska that doesnt have 3g data so if u on a wm or icrap phone good luck downloading anything on the fly but with this beast at times i forget im only on edge data. Other nite downloaded and installed 6 apps in less than 10 minutes SOOOOO cant wait to see what this baby can do once FROYO shows up and ATT finally gets with the program and gives us 3g.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
