Hi everybody
I'm wondering if any of you know whether it's possible to dump the contents of a SIM card in the phone's memory, then to be able to use the phone without the physical sim card present.
I'm engaged with two providers, to which one belongs a SIM card, and I'm forced to open my phone and switch cards when I want to switch from one network to the other... that's really unconvenient !
The point would be to have both SIM cards dumped in my phone's memory, and choose one from a software option.
I'm using a WM6 flashed HTC P3300, if that's of any use.
Thanks a lot !
I never heard about virtual SIMcard in unit memory - but you have standard solution - dualsim ( you can find different solutions - but check before buy - not all working proprly with WM phone .

thanks for your answer
this not exactly not what I need, but I'll check in that way too
No that's pretty much exactly what you need.
You want to be able to use two carriers simultaneously (or at least psuedo simultaneously) without opening the phone and manually changing SIM cards.
As far as I know this is the ONLY way to do that. And it's still not perfect. Like he said make sure the device you get is 3G compatible or it won't work right. Also if you look around they have a device that looks like vice grips with a small cookie cutter welded to it. This is what you need to cut the sim chip. you can try with a scissors but try explaining to your wireless carrier why you need a new sim card.
Also it's tough ordering over the internet because you need to make sure that whatever you get will actually fit in your specific phone (they are all designed to take a standard sim chip but NONE are "designed" to take one of these things. some work in some phones but not in others. The newer ones (which you'll need since you need 3G) usually have an "automatic" setting which basically switches back and forth between carriers without you touching it.
Good luck!
Or u can use Super SIM read here http://www.nowgsm.com/GSM6in1.htm
i also wanted to do the same thing - has anybody tried such a dual sim adapter in a treo by a chance?
also, the sim cards are definitely v2 as they've been issued within the last year and have 3g compatibility;
i'd really love to hear if it worked for somebody before i go ahead and cut the chip out of my sims

Hi All
I wonder if any of you geniuses can help me with this query
I am using an HTC Touch Diamond with a NON DATA Enabled sim card, this is my personal sim card and account. I also have a Blackberry Pearl 8120 (I hope that isnt a swear word in these forums), anyway this is my work phone and I have an unlimited email & Internet DATA package on this sim card.
I want to know if I can SOMEHOW connect my Touch Diamond to the internet through the Blackberry using bluetooth? I am certain this must be possible, anyone got any ideas.
Also on a slightly different thread, My Touch diamond is all in French as I am currently living in Morocco but I would love to change the windows system language to English, is there a way to do this in settings on the device or do I need to flash the device with an ENGLISH ROM?? Tips on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Check and see if blackberry has an application like wm wifi router (windows mobile).
I have an ATT Tilt with unlimited data. I use the tilt, with WM Wifi Router as a wireless access point. I then connect all kinds of stuff to it, like my ipod touch, my laptop, other wifi phones.
It might be hard finding an application like this for Blackberrys.
if it were me, i would take the sim card out of the blackberry and put it in the diamond.. problem solved.
however if that solution does not work for you then the above advice is the best you'll get
How about ditch the blackberry and get a dual sim card holder and cut up your sim cards and put both in the holder then put it in your diamond problem solved and use the diamond for work and personal. So kill 2 birds with 1 stone. You can carry 1 phone around, but have the best of both worlds.

I think dual sim is what he meant.

I think he just meant: just swapping the sims, then he could just use the data plan on the diamond

Hi all!
I wanted to enjoy everything that my HD2 has to offer so today I made the switch to a provider, which offers me 1GB free traffic/month.
Great and all.. but, since I made that switch, a "1" is appearing on top, next to the connection status icons (on windows mobile).
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my connection, because as soon as I toggle off "phone" at the wireless controls, it's gone.
Can anyone explain me what it actually means? And maybe, how I can get rid of it?
Thanks in advance
Pyr0wl
I think when the "1" is present, that means that your Line 1 is active. Same goes for other active Lines.
Atleast, with iWireless, that's the situation.
[iWireless also allows a Data Connection whilst on the phone too, so I'm assuming AT&T phones also have the "1".]
Okay, with the info you provided, i went off to scour the internet, and I found some information.
It seems indeed, that the number on top, indicates which line I'm using And, if i press the "#" on my keypad, I can switch from line 1 to line 2. This is called, alternative line service. All it does, is mapping two different phone numbers to your SIM card.
Now i'm just looking for a way to disable this, because, i don't have a second telephone number mapped to my SIM
So I was HALF way right. Pretty good guess.
I'll do some research and see if it's possible to disable the "Secondary" Line, though, I think it may be a SIM Function, not device... as you did say in your first post that you switched carriers... which means a new SIM.
As most people know, tampering with the SIM Card (Excluding your Contacts & Web Settings) can be a bad idea...

right on bro thanks for all you have and are doing
Did some research, and found out that it CAN be disabled but you have to speak to your provider about it.
The actual Service Name is called 2-in-1 Sim Service. See HERE for more info. Though that article is quite old, it seems many providers now support 2-in-1 Sim Service for Business customers that wish to have a Business Number AND a Personal Number all on one device.
I called my provider and asked about this service, and they said it is, in fact an optional service, but it's pre-configured on the SIM Card. At the moment, my provider only has one style of SIM.. so I can't remove my Secondary Line availability.
I recommend talking to your provider about the service to see if you can disable it.
Hope this helps m8.

Hi all,
I have got an Ericsson F3307G, is there any way to add it into Acer Iconia Tab A500?
thnx
Good question - I don't anyone could answer that without actually cracking open the tablet and having the knowledge to decipher the internals.
Normally, I wouldn't think it would just be a simple, solder it in place and call it a day situation. But, one never knows.
Did you see this guy rip open his? On androidtablets net, post- 13577-whats-under-hood-acer-iconia-tab-a500.html. Sorry I would put up a proper link but I am a newb.
I wonder if that little white strip in middle leftish is an internal sd card?
I have seen a tear down, though I don't know if its that one.
Either way, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if that would work or not.
Be interesting to find out.
thanks to all for replies. What i search for were internal pictures.
In particular, this:

it should need to solder a mini pciexpress slot on those pins on board (with sim card holder).
this is the thread:
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...77-whats-under-hood-acer-iconia-tab-a500.html
Yep. That's the image I saw and I doubt it would be just a simple solder job. Why not try it?
EDIT
Besides, it barely looks like it's got any chips on that part of of the PCB and you'd need to add a connector point for the SIM connector to slide into. I think if you got that far, it could very well that the board itself will not accept an after market part like that or that they remove all functionality of that type for wifi models in a future update.
anyway it's bad idea, it's difficult to install beacouse sim card holder will be in wrong direction ti insert sim card if it added :/ the correct way is to buy the a501 version.
thanx to all for your reply and to drive away my dubious
I think the Mainboard is the same for all A5XX model so they just didn't put the
- miniPciE port
- controller O21 and D3 position...
so far I think that will be... risky, not sure to work, and not worth the time to try to SOLDER anything.... sadly.... I was really expected they put the modules functionnal but just not the 3G Card... that will be so nice from ACER...
----- hope the 3G on USB will be ripoff
I heard about some kind of Wifi boxes you put the 3GDongle on it, and all your HomeWifi got internet via 3G.... is that could works?
I'm new to WP7 devices. I just bought an HTC Surround from eBay and it seems to be in some kind of bricked or semi bricked state. It used to be in an eternal reboot cycle but i managedd to fix that by some how (miraculously?) formatting the internal SDHC card. Now the device doesn't rebbot like it used to but insted turns on and stops at the connect to computer screen. I have tried syncing with Zune but got the 10100 error saying that there wasn't any backup. What do I do? Do I have to reflash the stock? If so which one and where is it? I have posted which mode the Surround ends up in and the tri-color screen for the SPL version if it is needed for the ROM. Thanks!

Ok so i have flashed the rom already. But, how long is it supposed to stay at the HTC screen? It seems to be as if it were stuck or something.

Thanks! Just as you said it was the dumb SDHC card. I have been reading somewhere else here on XDA that quite a number of Wp7 phones have this same problem too, some cards aren't just fast enough despite their class. Sure enough I removed the card and finally it booted up. I'm checking the card out so far and it seems pretty slow to me for a class 2, what a bummer. Oh well looks like I'll have to spend some more. I was expecting to resell this thing.

Not so much, at least for me. All you have to do is pretty much remove the backing of the surround and click he card out of the slot that is next to the SIM slot. What makes it hard is removing the back case because it in two parts but an iPhone opening tool makes it easier to open it.

Damn, this isn't good. After looking closely turns out that the PCB that holds both thebSIM and microSD slots is missing some resistor/fuse thingies. I tried to bridge them but somehow it still doesn't work with any card at all. This fixing thing is starting to suck. I tried googling for the part but I just can't find it. If you know of where to buy it or maybe have a spare one that would be great. I'll post some pictures later of how the part looks like.
[EDIT] I have uploaded some pictures and highlited where the resistors are missing.

I reinstalled the part and put in another card. (class 4) and it doesn't even recognize that there even is a card installed, it also warms up really bad. Bootloader reports SD NONE, i think it fried or something.
I noticed on my Moto X Pure (USA) that the SIM tray looks like it would support 2 SIMS + Micro SD on my SIM tray, but one of the SIM holding slots is covered with plastic... Is Motorola artificially limiting dual SIM in the US? I wonder if the internals in the phone itself has the hardware for supporting 2 SIMs and it would be possible to modify this SIM tray to hold 2 SIMs or import a SIM tray from a country with dual SIM models? If the ROM on the US version wouldn't support it, I am sure a custom ROM could be made to support it (if my theory is correct).

Interesting thought as I travel on a yearly basis, I'll be looking into this and get back to you when I receive my phone
Hmm. Use my VZW and Project Fi at the same time.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
until we get a teardown of the phone, showing both sets of SIM contacts. we won't know.
I was wondering that when I first put my sim in. Some other people said that the Brazil and south american version of the style has dual sim capabilities. Would be pretty cool if we could just pop out the plastic and use the other slot.
Sorry folks, it does not have contacts for the second SIM slot.
You can see I circled the SIM 1 contacts but there are no contacts where SIM 2 would be. I circled the two locations where the SIM 2 contacts should be.
I've seen a review of the Pure that shows the tray as having 2 sim slots. So I'm guessing the Style does, the Pure does not.
