Mini USB to 3.5mm with volume control - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Does anyone know where I can find a mini usb to 3.5mm cable with volume control? I remember seeing them on eBay awhile ago, but I can't find them anymore.

I guess this what you are looking for, or I should say is what I'm using
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sid=m37&satitle=290213833040&category0=&fvi=1

The one that I remember seeing just had a little scroll wheel for the volume control (no headphones)... and was cheaper.

this might be what I'm looking for... will this work with the Tilt?

I have that exact thing, it works fine with the tilt.

i suppose a copy. i got it from emtcompany. i had bought adaptors previously.
I just realised this post should be in the accessories section, but never mind now. I just realised that HTC do not as far as I know make this type of adaptor, could you get a refund for it? I use Expansys for this type of thing have a look here:-

You have an equivalent company where you are here:- www.mobileplanet.com

3.5mm USB Adapter - No Sound From Headphones

I recently picked up a set of earbuds and a 3.5mm adapter for my Tilt and have not been able to get the sound to play through the headphones... Is this a radio version issue? I'm a bit new to all this. I flashed my phone to the most recent ROM from HTC, installed the keyboard fix and that's about it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
JM
try flashing another radio...this is usually the culprit with no sounds...
I had this problem. When I plugged in the headphones, sound still came out of the phone speaker. It turned out one of the pins in the usb port was bent. If you get sound from the speaker with them plugged in, that could be your problem.
from my understandings...
There are 2 types of mini usb 3.5 mm headphone jacks. one that pulls form the top row on the mini usb port and one that pulls from the bottom row on the mini usb port. One works with the tilt, the other will not. More than likely you got the one that will not work with the tilt.

The sound comes through the external speaker just fine, I also tried ALL the radios and nothing helped. There are no bent contacts so I guess it is probably that I got the adapter that will not work with the tilt. Does anyone know of a specific manufacturer that makes one that does work with the tilt? I picked this one up off ebay for about .50 cents, no idea who makes it.
I had one adapter with gold plated on the 3.5mm headphone side, the connection to USB was bad. I had to hold it down for it to work properly. I have since bought another one (with L shape USB connector), it works perfectly. Either you need to juggle it to see if it's a connector issue or you simply got the wrong type of adapter.
What kind of adapter is it?
I bought a "OEM" adapter from a website selling Tilt accessories, and it works fine. However, when I picked up a Motorola headphone kit with a USB adapter, it did not work, and the sound would only come out of the speaker.
The Moto compatible adapters do not work. HTC specific adapters are fine. They are also available in 2.5mm if you want to use a cell headset with it instead of bluetooth.
The Kaiser requires an 11 pin usb adapter......I believe the Razr uses a 7 pin? if im correct. That is why you dont have sound....
A cheaper way, ie: FREE! is to make one yourself out of the cheap pair that came with the kaiser!
see this: http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2006/08/18/orange_spv_m3100_headphone_adapter_hack
its for the TyTN 1, but it still works for the Kaiser, its also very fun and great to show off to people
I use a mini-USB adaptor (3.5 mm) from Boxwave and it works great with my Shure SE 110 earphones! The adaptor was around $12.00.
Internal Microphone
When I plug my heaphones in, it seems that the internal microphone (on the phone) is disabled.
Is it possible to hear the sound through the headphones and talk through the phone?
I hate having to unplug the headphones every time someone calls me.

Mini USB Splitter

Ok, I've searched around for this and found a couple of threads, but nothing that will help with my question.
What I would like to know is, has anyone found a splitter that will enable me to charge as I use the other to listen to audio / video?
Is this even possible?
Would there be any consequences of using power and headphones at the same time?
Why, oh why didn't they build a small jack socket into the damn thing ! Ok, don't answer that!
Thanks guys,
Ratzz
check eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-3-in-1-STER...033806069QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350033806069 and the one of the banners here on this forum has a link for a similar one
I received the mini-usb splitter in in the box when I purchased mine. You can also get splitters that give you power + 3.5mm headhphone + mini-usb headphone.

it was my understanding that although the extUSB socket has the ext pins, they are not actually connected to anyting on the blackstone side, so without a bit of hardware and some soldering skills, it wont be possible to ever enable the 'ext' part of the extUSB port
what i find funny is everyones major sore point with HTC is the use of the usb audio. now they finally give us a device with 3.5 jack and were trying to get it to work with usb

Agree - now we have a great 3.5 socket with socking sound there's loads of people who want USB sound. Once HTC provide USB sound I want a micro SD sound output channel !
lol
it did seemlike all i heard as far and cons go with htc was the usb headphones
I think its great they give us a 3.5 port. Just put it on the bottom so car holders can incorporate it for quick simple connections. Guess I'll need to set up bluetooth audio for my in car use. Hate to plug in extra plugs to get audio out.

Does this exist ?

Ive been trying to sort out my Touch Pro (Vario IV) for use in my car .....
what im after is an adapter - i guess a 3-in-1 that allows a mini usb (for power), a line out (for routing through my car stereo line in plus a connector for an external microphone so I can use a mic clipped to the sun visor .....
I can find plenty of 3 in 1s on ebay but im not sure if any would cope with the 'mic' bit ??
my perfect cradle would be like i have for my ipod, where it goosenecks from the cigar lighter power point and has an audio out at the bottom but im fairly sure that doesnt exist for an HTC
I use this and find it ideal

Hope this helps
Here's a post describing how someone made their own mini-usb to mic jack.

You could then use the proclip car mount and this adapter.
