garmin and xdaII

anyone can tell me how to download the map coming with garmin into xdaII and use it (xdaII) as GPS with tomtom or any other tools
Tomtom comes with its own maps, all you need is a connecting lead from the garmin to the xda2. It will use com 1 so make sure in settings/connections/beams that the beams box is unchecked.
You can't use Garmin maps with TomTom, map format is completely different.
I use my Garmin GPS V as GPS receiver in combination with TomTom.
But the features of the Garmin GPS software are much more advanced than TomTom's. TomTom is ok for driving from point a to point b, but you can't create your own routes on the pc, like with the Garmin Mapsource software.
It's a pitty Garmin doesn't make GPS software for the Pocket PC...
thanks cruisin-thru but do tom tom have maps for saudi arabia
thanks joe,
I am using garmin 3+
Khalid, I dont think so, however any nmea compliant mapping program will work with your garmin/xda2 and the proper cable.
Thanks cruisin

TyTN with GPSProxy2.2 and Garmin Que

Hi all,
I'm using previously an O2 mini (Magician) with a Holux 236 receiver and its working pretty fine.
But when I actually switched to TyTN (since its a WM5), problems always occur, as if GPSProxy cant get hold of a free comms port
"Error loading virtual COM port driver for COM2"
If I do a soft reset and start GPSProxy straight after a reboot, GPSProxy will manage to secure a com port for routing, but if its after maybe 10 - 15 mins, you'll get the above error message.
I actually even tempered the registry with solutions from Andrew but it didn't really help as well.
Anyone has any solutions to walk around this?
I'm using GarminQue without GPSProxy.
Set the serial COM to COM9.
It works perfectly.
Although i'm not using for a long period of time.
Just trying to find out whether it works or not.
How did you use GarminQue without GPSProxy? What GPSr are you using? I am interested to learn the technique of using GarminQue without GPSProxy and any help would be appreciated

You're using the default GPS options from Connection I presume?
I'm using Garmin Que 2.90 paired with Garmin GPS 10 Bluetooth.
Just get Garmin GPS 10 BT paired with my Tytn.
Set an outgoing port to COM9.
Then start Garmin Que -> Menu -> System Setup -> Interface
Select COM9 as Communication Port.
After all set, I can start receiving data from GPS.
That's all.
I'm using GPSGate with my TyTN and BT-338 GPS receiver. Works perfectly with Garmin Que 2.9 and very easy to setup.

how to get the Tomtom 6 works on HTC P3600?

how to get the Tomtom 6 works on HTC P3600?
I have set the GPS receiver to Other NMEA Receiver
and tried all the baud rate from 4800, 9600, 57600 and 115200
And set the GPS to com9
And waited each time up to 30 mins but still it shows the No valid GPS valid signal
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
do you have a gps enabled rom installed?
did you try outside with a clear view to the sky (or inside)?
Dans le cas de freeze de Tomtom avec certaines roms: Truc de Pierre Gre:
Certaines roms provoquent des freezes de Tomtom, comme les roms HTC ou Dopod.
Il faut alors installer ce petit .cab
Atifix.cab

Sorry man I only can read english or chinese only
Roughly it's saying, there is an issue with Tom Tom and WM6, and find the file ATIFIX.cab, in fact click on the blue linky he's put there and you'll get to it, grab, install and see if that helps.
Seemingly TT freezes for some reason and this fix... erm fixes it :0

You've got to use the TomTom 6.03, it's the version which can connect to an internal GPS receiver.
This with the GPS enabled ROM, like the mUn 2.0 TE (WM6).
The first time ... go outside your house / in the open air and wait like 3 min.
no word of a lie - it took me 8 minuites to get the very first fix. This was standing in my decent sized garden getting bored for a long time.
Fixes are under 2 minuites now tho
get TomTom 6.03 (the update), it allows you to select the internal GPS antenae and you should get faster fixes on satellites...
Just got a new Trinity. It came with a TomTom CD and instructions that said make sure you set it to Com 9 and 115200 baud FYI.
I've had crazy results. I've waited minutes for it to fix outdoors and I've also been able to connect within 10 seconds while inside my house. Results seem completely random.
When it is waiting for a valid signal, it shows that it is tracking 10 or more satelites. I don't understand it.

Where can I get the 6.03 update?
Look in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305068
and read srsjason2040's post on 02-05-2007
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you upgrade to TomTom 6.03 you will need to reactivate your maps!!!
VITO Techs Navigator 2
Here's a trick that worked. After performing the ROM update, I installed VITO Navigator 2. It will search for a GPS reciever and has a test mode to change modem speeds. I have never used this product other than searching for GPS ports and testing operation. But it brings up Trinity GPS function quick and shows all possable SATs in seconds. Just why and how is beyond me. But a great testing application.
Hi had installed the fix but TomTom still freeze.
I´ve Trinity WM5 Portuguese.
Could someone help me?
Tomtom has a problem with the POI's. Try going to "manage POI" and de-select those that aren't essential (leave the speed cams if you use those). There is lots of info and problems/cures on http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=6
Let me know how you get on.
TomTom Problems solved!
I installed ATIFix on Trinity but i had to install Update for HTC P3600 Update from TomTom before:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6736&Lid=1
Now, it works great!
Best Regards

That is the V6.03 update that adds 'Built-In GPS' to the GPS selection menu. Previous versions do work, but must have 'Other NMEA Receiver' selected, at COM9 and 56700 Baud (Baud isn't sensitive, but 56700 is the device default)
A lot of users problems have been because they are trying to select 'Other Bluetooth NMEA Receiver' which won't work as the COM ports aren't configured.

Garmin Que GPS on Mogul

I have not been able to find an aswer to this question: Is it possbile to use the Moguls internal GPS reciever and Garmin Que GPS software?
I have a legal version of Garmin que 2.9 software on my Mogul. However, it wants to use the Bluetooth (gps 10) receiver for its connection. i would like it to connect to the internal GPS though. I have been able to get TomTom software on the Mogul to connect to the internal GPS. But not my Garmin Software. I have seen Directions for using MobileXT and the internal GPS. But I do not like that GPS interface nor TomToms.
So, if anyone knows of a way to get the Garmin Que software to use the Moguls internal GPS...please..please..please post an how to. I hate having to use the bluethooth GPS or Mobile xt or Tomtom.
Thanks!
