Removing O2 thing on XDA IIi very good

hi
I have had my ew XDA IIi for just over a week and its great. As usual the O2 active is slowing it up, bo i removed it tonight from a hard reset.
it causes so many more problems than it did with the XDA II, I am finding it so slow and I am always running out of memory with it. I noticed that when I removed it my battery life has shot up and extra half an hour from full so I am pleased.
worth it and I didn't loose too many features as they came on a seperate CD, good thinking O2!
Hope this helps any one who is sufering with a very slow XDA IIi
ok I have found a problem, all my settings for gprs have gone and I cant send text messages.
did you do a hard reset, then set up the screen, and so on, Then befor it starts to install all the o2 junk you do a soft reset.
This is what i did on mine then run thr following cab to get my conections set up

[Q] Alarm

Hi Guys,I have a question :
I have my xperia with MR2 since I bought it a month a go.For me its very important Alarm. When a had my previous phone K850i it was very easy to switch off the phone and without problem I know my alarm will ring even if the phone its switched off. I have tried a different ways not to switch the phone(with the the network switched off, in silent mode etc..)without success in this x2. Only I can guarantee alarm will ring in this cases if the phone its on charger, but not again if the phone its switched of. I have seen here in this forum some people asking about this and rated as a bug. Is there any solution or different alarm aplication, because I would like my phone switched of to save battery and relax in best possible way without thinking my phone will not wake me up. Please help.

No WM device will play alarm when switched off.
It's normal.
Just put your phone to FlightMode in the night.

to be more precise almost no smartphone (if none at all), wm or not, will work when switched off.
It's funny: that question was the question n1 on the days of his majesty the p800, now after 8 years of smartphones the question is still live and kicking..

Thanks for the replay and help.I have tryed this way,but when i switch on a flight mode and my phone normaly its setup to go on stand by after a minute the alarm will not ring, even if I disable the stand by mode at some point during the night the screen its going off.Or some times if i leave the stand by disable, and setup the brightness of the screen to the lowest level then the alarm will ring but then the batery its duying very quickly.Any other solution or I have to except it like that.Thank you again.

I have no idea what is the problem.
My X2 -> flight mode, set the alarm, screen off, go to sleep
X2 rings in the morning without a problem.

Thanks mate again. I’ve been following quite allot of your comments and I can see you know well windows mobile OS. So far with some exceptions I am happy with x2,but you know there is no perfect phone. I have to know about another two issues about this OS.I don’t know whether is normal with WinMo , but with my previous Sony Ericsson I use to see if I want to only contacts stored in the phone or in Sim.Here with x2 I can see contacts in both places(Yes there is the way to sort that-while in phonebook-Menu>Filter and so on),but when you try to go back to the contacts you can see the same story. Also with sms in inbox you can see as well your messages stored in your sim card. Why is that is there any way you can setup when accessing the phone book to see only contacts stored in the phone memory without going to menu and then filter. And as well for my sms,I don’t want to see my messages from the sim straightaway .Is there any different explorer for that or any apps.Thank you allot.

I don't have any sms on SIM so no idea.
As for contacts looks like others also complain about not beeing able to hide SIM contacts. I have no clue...
for the contacts problem you can try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315818
Use a registry editor and locate the following key:
Hkey_Current_user\Control Panel\Phone\ShowSim
Set to 0 to hide SIM contacts, 1 to show SIM contacts.

[Q] HELP WANT data on when phone sleeps

i asked this few days ago someone must know something, i finally got out of the windows habit fell in lvoe with android and this issue is reallly getting on my breasts
ok i have been usuing messenger in my pocket for a year no more costly sms and isntant contact with my fiance all day bad news for my employer but it works for me..
so im+on android has the feature to keep 3g connected while screen is of or phone sleeps and so i get my im's with a beep as soon as my girl send me one just how it should be right.. but no other im app works in sleep mode!!!!
im+ devs killed the app fpr everyone on friday night and went home for the weekend...
WHY CANT I FIND AND APP THAT DOES WHAT IM+ DOES AND HOLD DATA ON IN SLEEP MODE, THEN I CAN USE ANY IM APP I WANT RIGHT? I TRIED THOSE PROGRAMS THAT SEND PACKETS EVERY 3 SECODNS AND ALL THAT STILL NO OTHER IM WORKS FOR MORE THAN 1 FEW MINUTES AFTER SCREEN GOES OFF
one more point is data doesnt turn off as soon as screen goes of data remains for a few minutes so is there a way of rooting and changing this time to something like forever or a day..
DATA ON WHEN PHONE IS ASLEEP ANYONE OMFG........
P.S. I SEEN A PHONE WITH DATA ON ALWAYS SETTING IN THE MAIN WIRELESS / NETWORKS SETTINGS, IS THIS PART OF ANDROID 2.2 I HAVNT SEEN IT ON 1.6 OR 2.1 SOMEONE HELP
you should enable background data (although i thought it was enabled on default?). It is in settings -> sync (or something similar, i don't have the phone here right now).
google talk has been working for me and my girlfriend for the last 6 months.. the only times it didn't work was probably because the process got killed by android..

Loosing 3g Icon

Hi everyone, today this happened for the second time since i own the phone, i woke up unlocked the phone and boom no 3g icon and no internet ofcource. I knew if i played with the settings it would work, the first time that happened i had to select auto internet settings and it would come up..today it didnt work.. i had to switch the phone to gsm mode only and then back to gsm\wcdma for it to work..It is a very strange problem, just wondering if anyone knows whats causing this is it software or is it hardware? Any input would be appreciated.
I'm having the same issue...seems like it started this morning, and I don't recall doing anything different...

I had the same problem a couple of days ago. Rebooting the phone didnt help. After a night sleep it worked fine again..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes i also didnt do anything different..And yes rebooting doesnt help only switching to gsm only and then back to gsm/wcdma works for me. Wondering if its a provider issue like Fido, Rogers etc.. or maybe the sim card itself. Really dont know but i think its software related since it starts working after playing with the settings.
Well I know the iPhone 3G, 3GS, the Galaxy S and the X10 all do this exact thing on the Optus network.
Are any of you running juice defender etc?
I have the same problem all the time, and I'm on Optus network ..
I had this happen to me as well today, woke went to take my sons to their bus stop and noticed I didn't have data, got home messed around with the settings doing the gsm then back to gsm/wcdma and all was fine. I thought it was just a fluke but i guess not. Oh and I'm not running juice defender.
It happened to me and the wife today also. Couldn't make outgoings calls for a while either. Seems we are all on the Rogers network. Lets hope its them and not our phones.
It is definetely happening to me too. And I'm living in Turkey.
I have to switch between GSM and WCDMA to get it working again
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I found juice defender use to mess up a lot and wouldn't enable my data.
Just to point out i dont use juice defender and i am on fido.

I was playing around with JuiceDefender and BatteryFu, but the problem started after I uninstalled them.
Also, everything seems fine now...That was weird haha.

Weird Galaxy S II Problem

Today I decided to use my new Galaxy SII mobile phone (had it locked away in its box for 4 weeks as I had to wait for my new case to arrive from overseas). Well anyhow what I did was I removed the SIM card from my Omnia i8000 and inserted it into my Galaxy SII phone. Booted the phone up, all went well, and it booted up nicely recognising all my Crazy Johns settings etc.
Now here's the weird problem. When ever anyone tried to ring me, I will see their number come up on my screen, it will ring for 1 sec or prob slightly more than all of a sudden it will cut out/hang up, no call at all will go through, just simply cut our after 1 sec or so. Ok now the problem gets more weird here, I also have another mobile (Samsung i780) which is my work phone, so what I did was I got the i780 and called my Galaxy SII to test it out, and it rang perfectly. But from any other phone, this means my friends mobiles and LAN line it would just simply cut off after 1 sec or so, no call will go through. The only call that goes through is from my 2nd Samsung i780 in which I dont have any problems at all.
Help would be appreciated
See if any groups/persons are added in Black List or not. Check under Settings- Call- Call rejection- Black List.
Regards.
Done all that and no, non of my friends that I've tried on their mobiles to call me is listed there.
Like I said in my post above, the weird thing is, is I call from my i780 it works fine and rings, but any other phone it simply rejects.
Try another sim card..

Could it be a faulty SIM card, but it works in my previous Samsung i8000 Omnia.
Just give it a try...

It may work..

Ok fair enough, but my Q here is, why does it accept calls from my Samsung i780 mobile, dont have a problem there at all ?
Ok now this is more weird. I am now visiting and staying at my parents place, I tried to call my Galaxy SII from my Mums mobile and it worked great, did the same from their home phone and it worked great too, so no probs there what so ever, I will need to start testing with more phones.
Now I am wondering will it only accept calls for only those contacts that are in my address book, and who is not listed in my contact book it will blacklist and reject, just doesnt sound right to me.
On your Galaxy S II go to Settings, Call, Call Rejection...check the Auto Reject Mode. What is selected in your phone?
[yey first post]
i had the same problem.. do you keep your phone on gsm instead of 3g with the data connection on? if so apparently when it tries to sync stuff it basically keeps your phone line busy so if people try to call you they'll get cut off. after i turned 3g with data connection on the problem disappeared. hope this made sense!
you dont have your own number in contact list right? this is reason why it dont get rejected ... check the black list and see that "unknown" is checked or not
i have same kind of problem. some people call me but they say that my phone is off. but my phone was next to me and i wasnt calling some one else. is this a carrier or phone problem?
The setting for call rejection is OFF
Try with your phone company and see if you are not transferred into any of those family call plans
