Hello,
I have seen that the question was already asked, but the question dated from one year so may be there will be new solutions :
Can we put the cooked rom in a Device Emulator?
Thanks in advance
Guillaume
I don't think so, however it might be possible. The problem with it is that the emulated hardware will be different to that of a device, and so the ROM would have to be specifically for it.
I'll try and dump the ROM image, and see whether it is similar to other ROMs...
Hum...interesting question....
It appears that the OS is not the same format as any other ROM (it can't be dumped properly) and so I don't think it could be rebuilt with different parts...

Got a few questions:

can anyone explain this when we use any of this?
I would like to know, couse I am about to change the rom, and I dont know,
nothing about it.
I found this location http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ ?
when u cook a rom how do u update the system on pda?
do u just copy it on Sd memory card or???
Thanks
All of this information is already posted around.
Look at the wiki (link in top left).
Me and many others have done many posts on bigstorage, no point repeating - search by my name or others.
You can't really cook a rom for the magician (ie make an entirely custom rom) as you can with earlier xdas and the rom kitchen.

I know that i can find around some infos about it,
but there is nothing about which ROM is used when?
Thats the problem.
Can somebody help?
Hi,
sorry for that noob question but I have already downloaded the WM6 upgrade for the 4350.
Before installing it, I would like to know if it is possible to downgrade the WM6 to WM5 if I dont like that new version.
Thank you !
Yes, get your WM5 package ready (i.e. download your official/prefered WM5 ROM).. and you can flash it back later. It is not possible (I think) to backup your ROM to be flashed back later.
Hi Hanmin,
thank you for your answer.
My second noob question is... where can I download the WM5 ROM ?
There is no WM5 download on HTC club so I don't have any source to use if I want to install WM5 again.
Am I missing something ?
Thanks
Hmmm.. this seems tough. As most of the phones were preinstalled with the first version of WM5, chances are, we do have a AKU ROM upgrading package, which is the entire ROM itself. In cases where we do not like WM5, we use that to flash it back. For Herald, it seems that it came with the new version of WM5, as such, probably there isn't any ROM package that youc and download and flash.. unless someone made a dump on it, or there are to be leaks.
UPDATE: There are available at
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades
Get your version from there. Get it before they are gone.
Thanks Hanmin,
what a pity that there is no French version :/
Do you know if it is possible for me to dump the memory (and to made it available for the community) ?
Thanks !
Sorry. Can't help you on that. Whooss way over me. I'm not much into the ROM stuff. However, I think if you sniff around more, there are certain threads teaching you how to dump it
Hello!
One of my friends brought me an old Yakumo delta 300 GPS 2L PDA from Germany, to install a new WinMo on it.
Does anybody know how to do it? I really know nothing about doing such things, and all I could find about updating such a device was a german forum, with outdated links.
It would be very important for me! Thanks!
to build a 6.5rom for those devices u should make many files
one of the most importantes is NK.EXE that u can easily put that in ur rom with new Ervius kitchen
Problem is that I don't know how to do so. I have no experience in Windows Mobile, that's why I am asking for your help.

Its not so simple since you aren't exprenced with Windows Mobile devices. Its highly possible to brick the device easily if something goes wrong.
First the device should be CID unlocked so that you can flash custom ROMs.
Second you will need to find custom ROMs for it or else if you want to cook, you either need to get a stock ROM of it so that you can dump it, replace its files (i.e SYS and XIP), recook it using suitable kitchens, finally flash it but its not over. There are many thing to do. And I say again its possible to brick the device if something goes wrong.
I would better suggest to stay with what ever it has.
Since HTC is very popular, we research lot and minimize risks before doing anything but your device seems very old and not known much so its risky job.
As Mr.zeus said, NK.EXE is just a part or file of/in the kernel aka XIP. You will need many things to cook a ROM. Stock ROM of your device would be good for start.
Thanks...
Best Regards
Well, thank you very much.
Then looks like, I am shot here :S
Can you please give me any navigation system what should work on this device, and has maps for Hungary, Germany, Austria?
i can tell u one thing...my htc wizard is running wm6.5.3...so it is quite possible to hav new os on old fone.....
Hello everyone!
I want to upgrade my Leo from original genuine WM 6.5 to WP 7 ROM. It's first time I would be flashing a ROM onto my phone, so I wanted to ask you few questions...
I googled about this many times, but I'm still not sure about some things. I'll welcome all answers and advices.
So here are the questions I'd like to clear out:
Which ROM should I use for my Leo? There are lots of ROMs and I'd like to get the most recent one (best would be with NoDo update)...
Is there a guide or tutorial or something like that? I understand I have to install first some flasher and using that flash the ROM into the device... Is that right?
How is the new ROM going to affect the performance? I read somewhere that at the end it could be faster than HD7 (which is basically the same HW only without 2 buttons)
Is the new ROM going to void my warranty? Is there a way back (to virginize it like e.g. iPhone)?
What's with the XBOX Live services? Is there a working way around?
Thanks in advance
Dear XDA-dev's & Users
Since a few days i have a HTC HD2
and i'm looking to flash it towards an Android Gingerbread.
i have done some flashing before on my nokia N97, and dont fear 'difficult' manuals.
As of reading some fora i'm willing to flash the NAND instead of a SD-rom (wich i think to be slower). no way i'm going back to WM6.5
however that's also where my 'ignorance' kicks in:
i'm severly suspecting that an SD-rom cant be used as a NAND-rom
is this true?
What is the difference between a ZIP-ROm and a NAND-rom/SD-rom?
The os i found most interesting doesnt list a rom, how do i know if its suited to be used as a NAND rom (i've read some using a partition on the sd card so i'm afraid its an SDrom
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062881
and a final (probably expert obvious) question:
whats the exact benefit/ function of Clockwork/MAGLDR? (somethimes its even viewed as a mod instead of a program as stated in manuals)

Hi,
You are right in that you cannot use an sd-rom as a nand rom.
My suggestion is to start reading up on the subjects you need to start installing roms.
Please start reading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
Read also in my sig, guide number 2.
Finally, here is a list of current roms to choose from:
http://android.hd2roms.com/
The more you read, the more you will learn, the fewer mistakes you will make
Thanks
Thanks dude, I was also looking for similar information.
