I put up a brief post about this in the WM6 subforum and didn't get a response. I am going to try it again here because i have still had no luck and i have completely run out of things to try, and because i think this is the right forum for it anyways.
Forgive the lengthy explanation, but i felt it would be better to be as explicit as i can with what is happening and what i have tried.
I am only trying to use a basic pop3 email account (comcast) in regular messaging. This same account worked fine on my 8525 BEFORE flashing over to WM6, and i'll explain below exactly what i did to do that. The basic problem I am having is this: The account sets up OK and downloads the messages from the server on initial setup, but it takes a VERY LONG time that time and every other time after when it goes to send/receive emails. And after the initial download it WILL NOT RECEIVE any new messages, but it will however send, albeit very slowly.
I am pretty sure that when i upgraded from WM5, i did everything correctly. I flashed SSPL 2.10 Olipro, the i flashed Radio 1.57.07.00, then i flashed to VP3G's 3.63.3
This is when the problem started. I since then flashed the ATT WM6.1 official, then a Faria Rom, then back to WM6.1 official, now finally back to the latest WM5 version (the same one that came with the phone originally). I have done a hard reset as well and that didnt fix it either. The problem has been the same ever since it started with the first upgrade flash. It hangs for a long time(every step of the send/receive process, even when disconnecting), then comes away with no new messages.
I am really at wits end for what to try to get this back up and running like it was. Losing the messaging ability is going to kill me and will eventually have to trade out to another phone if i can't resolve it.
The one thing I am recalling now that did go less than smooth during my early flashes, was that i did get some kind of a .NET Framework error, it happened on a couple of occasions actually, and gave me the option to debug or terminate and i believe that after that i upgraded to the 3.5 version and i haven't noticed that message since. I believe that the flashes went through succesfully, but i might have gotten that message after it was complete and the flash worked so i didn't pay it too much mind. I am not sure what that means so any info on if that could be linked to my problem would help.
Any suggestions or advice at all would be well appreciated at this point. Thanks very much in advance...
Hello, did you ever find a solution for that issue? I am suffering with this same behaviour...
Please help!
Regards,
Joao
hi,
in my case i think the problem was really my own email server. i had too many messages and once i deleted some or all, it worked much better.
Try that and hopefully you'll get success

Now that the honeymoon period is over I have started noticing a few problems with the JJ. The most serious I noted is that when the JJ has gone through some use after its last soft reset it tends to freeze when a new text message arrives in the in-box. This does not happen when the JJ has been freshly soft reset and only when some time has passed since it was last soft reset. Since I have set the unit to vibrating alert on receipt of a new message the vibrator continuously starts operating and the phone freezes. To stop the vibrator you need to do a soft reset again.
Anybody had this problem??? I am planning to do a hard reset and see what happens.
Regards
Definitely related to some software that you have installed. I use sms everyday and havent faced any such problem.
Yes it does freezes your device when you receive new SMS, some time even I lost the SMS which was coming tru,..
Once I lost the MMS Account itself, then had to go for softreset and got it back again...
I've had the same thing happening. Very annoying. That's just Microsoft as we know it. We can't get out of the habbit of frequent softresets.
I did a complete ROM upgrade today and I replaced the Arabic ROM which came preinstalled on my JJ with the english version as available at the clubimate site. Without installing any 3rd party software I tested the SMS freezing problem and unfortunately it is very much there. This at least proves that no 3rd party software is to blame for this.
Now I am thinking that maybe I will have to dispose of the JJ as I so much depend on text messaging. The worst part is that as the JJ freezes on arrival of a new SMS the message itself is also lost and after doing the soft reset you can never tell from whom the message was.
I will really appreciate if anyone can help
Kind Regards

If you have an SD card inserted try removing it and see if the problem persist.
What i dont get is why this problem is unique to a very small percentage of devices. Many of use the device for SMS quite frequently and dont face this problem. I wonder what the triggering factor is.

I have this problem since I updated my ROM.
I posted this a few days back that the Jasjar tends to hang not all the time but most of the time when a new SMS arrives and in fact the SMS is also lost when you recover after a soft reset.
I thought that I will re-post this question because now more users would have had more experience with their Jasjars. For me this problem does not seem to go. I have tried even a hard reset and the problem keeps coming back even with no third party software installed.
I shall be obliged if anyone else who has had this problem may kindly post his views because this may put some pressure on the people at i-mate to come up with a fix. I fear that since this problem is being faced by a very small minority of JJ users a fix may never see the light of the day.
Kind Regards
I have a himalaya device with WM5 and have the exact same 'sms-lockup' problem.
Also, somethimes all the incoming calls are forwarded to my voicemail, even when my phone ison and the signal is strong and im not using my device. This can only be solved by a reset or after i made a call myself. Till that time no-one could call me!
The problems started when i installed another WM5-rom and a new radio-rom( 1.18 ). This was the first time a upgraded the radio-rom, so i think this could be the problem.
Im going to install the older radio-rom ver1.08 (recommanded in combi with WM5 by buzzdef.net). I hope this solves it!
I to have the same problem... Every time you open a new text message or even after sending message and when you get delivery report it freezes and you will have to reset.. but if you are in the middle of a call the phone still works fine but not able to use the PDA part because its freeze...
Have installed another, older, radio-rom( 1.08 ) and used it for almost a week... no freezes sofar!! I dont know if this rom can be used for a Universal device...
Just uncheck the "turn off device after..." option in battery settings and this problem will go away.
This was pointed out by user Khaled in another thread.
im also experiencing this after i upgraded to Second Edition. my Himalaya tends to freeze when receiving SMS. applications starts to slow down but will eventually recover after the SMS receipt notification, no need for softresets. i also noticed that currently, it would take about 10 seconds before SMS notification appears in the screen. im sure about this because i would know that an SMS is coming because my computer monitor, adjacent to my XDA, would flicker. so the turn-around time from the flickering of the monitor to the SMS notification would last around 10-12 seconds. is this normal?
I was so fed up with the SMS freezing problem that I sold my Jasjar, albeit at a much loss and exchanged it for a new one.
Just my bad luck the problem is also there on my 2nd Jasjar. It is exactly the same as the one I have sold. When I get a new SMS the unit freezes and has to be soft reset. Please note that this does not happen every time but say 1 in 10 times. Anyways this makes the whole system very unreliable. When your phone is in your pocket and an SMS causes it to freeze you will never know if now somebody tries to make an urgent call because your unit is not responding.
I have also tried the remedy / fix mentioned in this fourm to to Uncheck Turn Off Device but does not work.
My only hope is that this problem is fixed in the next ROM upgrade.
In the meantime I am evaluating prospects of leaving the WM platform altogether and going for a Nokia 9500
a friend just adviced me that it was my Radio version that is causing the problem. 1.18 has a lot of bugs including this freezing issue. so he suggested that i reflash my ROM and go back to Radio version 1.17. could somebody point me where the bug issues of 1.18 are listed here in the forum? thanks
After upgrading to WM6, every time I recieve a text message, it's off by one hour. Example: It's 12PM. I recieve a text, but the timestamp shows 1PM. I talked to AT&T well over an hour. Spoke with advanced networking, etc. All of the steps they had me try were useless. I called back today and again got no help, but instead my representative pointed their finger at HTC and said it's a software issue. "AT&T has nothing to do with it." Well I then called HTC and they had me do a couple steps. Still no results. :/ I've done everything to my knowledge to fix this is. Soft reset, hard reset, downgraded to WM5 then upgrade again, disabled automatic time update from network, reinstalled daylight savings time patch, basically everything. I originally had the Official AT&T WM6 update, but got sick of it so I downloaded the latest vp3G WM6 v3.62. And I kept the 1.54.07.00 radio version
Has anyone else experienced their texts being one hour off?
Is there a fix for it?
Thanks for any advice/info!
Sounds to me like AT&T forgot to change the daylight savings time on their servers!
I am running AT&T's official WM6 on my 8525 at the moment but I am using a T-Mobile card and have no time stamp issues.
Well I have this same problem, and have been flashing different ROMS to see if one would ignore the network timestamp. So far I have had no luck
Any ideas? I've tried everything in this thread (on PDACORNER anyways):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374956&page=18
and have had no luck. I am about to try official WM6 ATT ROM to see what it does.
An hour before I was ready to do my first ROM flash on my Vodafone locked device I get my first crash for weeks.
For me, when the device is idle for a while, or if the unlock screen is on, it sometimes freezes or becomes unresponsive. I have no issues in taking the back off, and removing the battery to reset the phone. I've become used to it, and although a perfect phone is what we all desire, it's not the end of the world.
But this morning, I couldn't connect to any data connections, my email accounts vanished, MSN and Facebook accounts were removed, and Opera wouldn't work. Soft reset later, and enterring all usernames and passwords again and the problems gone, but had not had this happen before. I'm still on 1.43, as I've tried to show some patience and wait for a ROM to be confirmed as ironing out the stability issues and SMS stuck in outbox problem, because I don't have the free time to continually start from scratch and rebuild.
The official SMS hotfix appears to have worked for me, touch wood, however I'll never really know if I've received them all.
But this morning I'm reading on here the SMS problem is still there in ROM 1.66.
Any common sense opinions on whether I should continue the flash via HSPL or show some more patience and see what more testing exposes?
i had this yesterday on voda and its still not working, what did you do to get yours going again ??
If in doubt, give it a clout!
Just kidding, but the same level of expertise applies... Just took the battery out, put it back in, turned it on, hey presto.
When I entered my user details in again, it seemed to have recoved the old one's leaving me with mutliple accounts as opposed to none. I deleted the new ones.
When you say you need to get yours going, are you talking about setting up the accounts again or the phone itself?
Theye say ignorance is bliss, so as we're both on Vodafone, I'm gonna make the definately incorrect assumption that it's part of Voda's testing for official new ROM
my handset seems to be plagued with problems since flashing new official ROM. When i try to start Outlook calender i get the message telling me there is no program memory available. Checking the Task manager and there is nothing running. I also have other problems such as incoming calls divert to my voicemail even though i full reception, handset freezes. Pressing a key to wake the screen results in the buttons lighting up but the screen not coming on... only thing to do is soft reset to get it working again. Still waiting for HTC support to come back to me on this. This must be the most unreliable HTC ever. Ive been using HTC devices for 5 or 6 years. They all seem to have there quirks but something that i could live with. This just doesnt perform basic tasks like receiving phone calls..thank god the messaging seems to have been sorted out now though. Is anyone else experiencing these issues or am i on my own here.
If you are still running the stock rom, I would consider getting it replaced, if you have flashed a new rom, then consider going back to the original rom and trying again.
edit - just read the bit about updating - i'd try reverting to teh original, and then try the update again. If it still persists, try getting it replaced.
Rom Downgrade
Thanks. I understand that its not possible to revert to the original ROM once this has been upgraded. The original ROM gave me problems with the sms and also the calls diverting to the voicemail. Im not sure the new rom is the problem here but it certainly seems worse since updating. I'd agree that the phone certainly seems to have faults, maybe HTC will take it for repair. I was interested to see if anyone else experienced these issues to try to see if its a hardware problem or just bugs in the software
THere is no problen downgrading, find your stock rom, extract the RUU_Signed.nbh file, copy it to your sd card, rename it leoimg.nbh, reboot the phone with down volume pressed, it will find teh file and downgrade to how the phone was when you got it.
Just make sure you get the right stock rom.
same problem
i have the same problem on my hd2. running orginal 1,66,409,1 rom(that came with the phone).
only thing i have installed is SPB shell and the dytty(?) 3d driver.
exiting mobile shell does not help. haven`t tried uninstalling the shell.
I have 200MB avbl memory so dont think that is the problem.
did it help downgrading or did they take to repair?
no one has a fix here?
I had the same problem with my new HD2. I emailed HTC and was told to uninstall and reinstall Activesync. It seems to have worked- I haven't had this error message for a week now.
active sync on the unit? I did a hard reset, worked after that.
I am having the same problem.
Opening outlook calender gives me the error message "no program memory etc..."
Does this problem lead to activesync not working on the phone itself? Mine does.
I called HTC they told me to hard reset. This is not the first time it happened and I believe its not the last.. Since I bought this a month ago, I have Hard reseted countless times...
I uninstalled and reinstalled Activesync on my computer- the HTC tech help seems to think there was a problem when I downloaded/ installed Activesync initially. I was Activesync'ing with my previous phone and it was ok so I'm not sure why there was problem with the Leo.
When I had the problem- I hard resetted the Leo countless times. After uninstalling/ reinstalling Activesync on my computer, the problem seemed to have resolved. It's been about 2 weeks now and all is running smoothly.
FYI, here is the email from HTC:
Regarding your concern, there could have been a glitch during the download that’s why this happened. Uninstalling and reinstalling the ActiveSync software usually resolves the issue. Always make sure that when you do the download and installation of the software, the handset is not connected to the computer. Thank you for contacting HTC. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any future questions
I've only owned this phone for 2 months and I'm already on the edge of smashing it. I bought it second hand with an "upgraded" ROM (win6.5 and TouchFlo2) and some other bits (mean nothing to me) such as GfxBoost and others...
It is generally so slow you have to wait 5-10 seconds for anything to respond. GPS can take up to 5 minutes to find a signal and often requires switching on and off multiple times for it will find anything, but most annoying is that the phone only sporadically sends texts. Most of the time the text just sits in the outbox and won't send until I've switched the phone on and off several times, and sometimes then still wont send. It also doesn't receive all texts people send me. I have replaced the SIM twice and have no such problems if I put my SIM in another phone.
Can anyone advise me on just how to get the damn thing working reliably and reasonably quickly. What ROM would anyone recommend or should I reset back to factory? I don't care about any "extras" or what the screen looks like I just want it to work properly.
Any help/advice would be hugely appreciated. Please bear in mind though I don't know squat about "flashing ROMS" or working with software, so any advice needs to be given at the level of idiot!
If I where you mate I'd flash back to a stock rom.
go to http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe and download the latest ROM
As your phone already has a cooked rom you don't need to worry about hard spl or the like.
Make sure your phone is connected to your PC and connected with Activesync then run the exe you downloaded from the link above. Follow the prompts and after a bit you'll have a stock hd
