When an appointment is created in either Outlook then synced to the device or an appt is created directly on the device(WinMo Pro) that contains a phone number in the title or body it is not clickable. No matter how I do it. I even tried prefacing it with "callto:" but that doesn't dial... If you can give me an answer that works I'll deposit 5$USD into your paypal account. Thanks. The point of this is when I'm driving and an appt pops up to call someone and that number is in the appt I can't just click it to call. Often times not calling at all(short term memory).

*sigh* what hes saying is, even after creating an appointment through the computer or directly the device, a scheduled appointment with a phone number inserted isn't click-able or dial-able. Its Just there displaying the number.
Basically he wants phone numbers in his appointments to be able to shortcut to call it.

Correct. When I receive a text message with a phone number it is clickable/dialable but not in a Calendar appt... My question is "Is it possible to create a linkable/dialable phone number in the Calendar just using Outlook or the built in Calendar app on Windows Mobile Pro?"
oh....i thought he wanted to make a shortcut to a Tel no.
I think Pocket Informant does this. Perhaps a commercial app is what you need.
I think I understand what you're looking for.
The only way for outlook to enable a call link in an appointment is to assign people involved as attendees (it's the 9th option in the "new appointment" form in mobile outlook and the second button from the left in the "new appointment" form toolbar in Outlook 2007). Assigning attendees to appointments will automatically send all attendees (with email addresses in their contact info) an email notification of the appointment (unless you turn that feature off) and provide a link to each person's contact info. You'll be able to press the "call" soft button in the lower left.
I hope this answers your question and you can keep your $5
try this:
In your calendar, if you quickly want to dial a phone number from your calendar, just type tel:”phone number” without the quotes (e.g. 4251234578). The phone number should get underlined. If it doesnt get underlined, try some combinations like putting a space after the colon, removing the space, etc. Now when you view the appointment just tap on the phone number and it will dial out.
If this works my email paypal is [email protected]

Am trying this directly on my device. It doesn't seem to work. Callto: does however make a "link" but when I click it nothing happens. I'll try some more though and thanks for the response. Whatever way I do get it working I'll def pay the $5. It's beyond worth it to me.

Because there seems to be a bug, typing tel: in outlook is removed during the syncing process. You could just put the phone number in outlook, and when synced, you can edit the note to insert "tel:"
add tel: to the front of the number as well as a space after the number. If this doesn't work it must be your version of Windows Mobile.
or you could just add the person as a contact and make him an attendee.

Install Pocket Informant, if you use your calendar and contacts like I think you do, then you'll love that program. Here is the link for the latest .cab file. It's a trial, and if you like it then you could purchase it. I've used it since having my Wizard.

Just select your language and WM version.

Anyone know how to skip to a name in the middle of my phone book, instead of scrolling through all the names. I have a 8125.
Thanks
JW
Er.. you should play around with your phone more
Assume yours is WM5 (maybe 2003 is the same, not sure)
(Method 1) The top section, you have a list of alphabets, just click on them to jump to the names that you are interested
(Method 2) If you click on the keyboard (or pen) on the bottom (center) bar, you will have your input method (e.g. the keyboard), simply punch in the name of the person you are interested in, and it will scan through all names and filter out the relavent ones for you.
or if you press and hold the scroll button for two full pages (eg through "A"), it should pop up with the letters of the alphabet B through to Z, this will give give you direct access to letter by letter.
combination of sim and phone memory
How can you make it so that the sim and phone memories stay in 1 alpabetical list rather then 2 separate list its quite annoying that they are split in 2.
move all sim to contacts, simple.
sim has no where near the functionality of contacts.

I tried that and it never goes to the letter I want. I also tried clicking on the group of letters at the top and it doesn't do anything. I don't want to have to go to the box and click on the letter i want to go to the name; I want to scroll through.
I am saving them to sim, does it need to be on memory for all these to work?
I put a phone number down in the notes of my appointment by mobile outlook, and when the reminder pops up, I just want to click and dial the number -- not select it, activate the dialer, then menu>paste and finally dial.
In my old blackberry, all I had to do was enter, 'tel:555-1212' and it would automatically convert it to a link -- click on it and the number was automatically dialed.
Is there an equivalent in WM5?
Also, I noticed that I can't just send ANOTHER text msg to someone in my sent box -- reply sends a message back to ME. Forward has me enter the previous number again. Am I missing something?
Interesting, a friend of mine and myself are also interested in this feature !

Tried it. Doesn't work on my phone. Is it supposed to?
Did you add a space or line feed/return after the telephone number? Mine doesn't create a link until one of those is entered.
That works, thou I thought about something else.
I'm using Pocketbreeze and what would be great would be to be able to call persons you added in the list of persons included "add person..."
like to be able to choose from a list when the notification appears.
Guess that's not possible atm
I think that that has been requested over at SBSH's forums but I don't remember if it was a planned addition or not. However, if Amit responded like he usually does, he will probably add it at some point if he can.
As far as PB, if you have PB set to show the note icon next to appts or tasks, you can tap on the note icon and it will open the preview window. Tap on the link and it will dial as well. No opening your PIM needed.
One other thing, you can also create a direct link to email as in the example below:
MailTo:[email protected]
Hi there,
MS Outlook on my desktop PC has all my contacts in +44 format (for some reason). Now I've synced my Trinity up, the contacts have transferred over in this format. When I try to dial the number the call doesn't connect. Instead T-Mobile thinks I am using keypad codes to toggle my voicemail.
I guess my questions are:
1. Is there a simple change I can make on the handset for it to accept +44 contacts? Or do I need to change them all back to 01753 etc.
2. If I *do* need to change them all back, will I be able to make international calls when I eventually make it abroad with this device? Or will I have to change back to +44.
3. Finally, if I'm abroad and use skype in a WLAN hotspot, will I need to use +44 or the regular UK dialling codes, say 01753?
Many thanks!
Ermmm it should "just work" tm.........
You havent accidentally added a 0 after the +44?
ie 01652 becomes +441652 and NOT +4401652
otherwise in windows have you checked you have set an area code anywhere? IIRC in the dialup section type thingy.
IF you change tham all to 01 etc then when you go abroad you need to drop the 0 and add +44
No idea about Skype
Personally all my contacts are a mixture of +44 or 01's depending whether I want to call them fom abroad or not and dont ever have an issue dialing them.
But hope the above is a little helpful
hi,
you're right. they all have a 0 after the 44. Outlook did this so i'm hoping it's fairly easy to remove them all as a global change.
thanks for helping me out.
at home now sitting in front of my pc.
can i get it to work?
no i cant.
outlook won't delete the first zero, ie (0)1753
the help section is a joke.
can anyone help please?
TIA
it seems that outlook on the pc is sensible enough to know to know if a number is dialled, the first zero is auto dropped.
but this is not the case with the handset. it will try and dial whatever numbers are in the contact fields (i think).
note: my handset is working. if i delete the preceeding +44, the number is called.
i've tried searching this site's for answers but to no avail.
has anyone else had this problem?
cheers
i'm either incredibly thick or MS office dont consult with MS Mobile.
sorry for multiple posts!
Remove all dialling rules and save all numbers using +44 xxxxyyyyyyyy. That's what I have done long time ago and it works fine. It also helps to deal with Italian numbers where you need to leave the 0 in when calling a fixed network number.
PS: I think you need to go through the manual editing process though
Thanks for the info. However I need to have my hand held with this.
"Remove all dialling rules"
Is this on my Desktop PC outlook or on the handset?
"save all numbers using +44 xxxxyyyyyyyy"
Have I got to re-enter every number on the Desktop PC outlook?
And do I include the first zero or leave it blank?
CHeers!

On the handheld: go to the Settings, Connections, Advanced, Dialing Rules and make sure "use dialing rules" is not selected.
Then go to Outlook on your PC and remove all zeros and all brackets from all numbers; put the numbers the same way you would dial them on the phone keypad (when calling from abroad). You don't need to re-enter all numbers, you need to edit them, which is just slightly less boring I am afraid.
Ops.... Are you also using your PC connected to a land line modem to dial numbers? I hope not because in that case it would not work as you cannot dial a "+" from a land line!

to sort using "firstname, last name" FOR ALL CONTACTS you would need to do so in Desktop's Outlook. i dont' think mobile outlook (aka contacts) have this option, unless you want to do ONE BY ONE. I haven't tried this, because I always use "last name, first name"
as for the delay in answering call, the previous poster is right, install HD Tweak, and you can modify the delay in answer calls. it works quite well. also the slider to answer/ignore the call is a little buggy, it lags when you try to slide while the phone is ringing. i would suggest S2U2's slider, it is very lean and fast.
This how you do it to be First Last name however it is quite boring because you have to do it to each entry in your contacts list on your HD.
1- On your touchFlo3D People tab select “All People”
2- The first contact well be highlighted in green hit “Menu” then “Edit”
3- Change the “File as” entry to be First Last name.
Now the contact item will be stored and listed as First Last name.
You can see why I said it is boring because you have to do it for your contacts one by one.
I hope this is what you wanted

outlook can do that
Hi - I've only had the HD a few weeks and of all the things I've seen on this forum, the only really niggling thing I've found with the standard install on my HD is the contacts issue mentioned in this thread. I'm sync-ing all my calendar, mail and contacts with Lotus Notes (using Lotus Notes Traveller). In Lotus Notes I have got all the contacts entered with their first names and last names, but then in the options I have selected "firstname lastname" as the view style. I am amazed that Windows mobile doesn't have this option?
If I WERE to go through every single contact entry and change the "file as" to the right format, would this synchronise back to Lotus Notes and cause any problems? Or is it just a setting on the device itself? Is there no global device setting to change the view style?

I made a post about this yesterday.
I have the same frustration and created my own program to fix the contacts, even allowing for your own custom formats and using the Company Name field. I hope you find it helpful!
http://wargolet.com/wm6/
I have tried to find if this has been answered elsewhere so I apologise if I have missed it.
Got my HD2 this morning and the first thing I did was update the firmware to 1.48.
Synced with Outlook and it has my contacts. Tried to put my wife on the People tab as a favourite. My previous phone would have stored her and I would have had to select her work or mobile number after selecting her picture on the tab. However, I see I have to choose which number when I add her as a favourite. That's OK - so I select her mobile number. I then try and add her again with her work number as a separate favourite but that deletes her first entry. It looks like you can only have one favourite per contact even if they have more than one number. Surely that can't be right? I don't want to have to create separate contacts for every number for my favourite people!
Have I missed something?
TIA
norm
Choose which number you're most likely to call - once the contact is added as a favourite, if you tap the name (as opposed to the picture) it will bring an "action" screen listing call mobile, call work, call home, send message, send email etc depending on what info is available for that contact
Thanks for the help, Isadora. That's good as it means I can have more favourite people. The only disappointent is that it is a little more difficult to hit the name instead of the picture if you're walking fast or something like that. But thanks again anyway.

If you add "View Contact Card" then the default action for that contact is to bring up the action list where you can call them, text them, email them etc..
It's a bit more like the original people style that was exhibited in TouchFlo.
