Which HTC Universal Radio version is the best?

Currently,
I'm using the Radio version 1.04.20 on my Dopod 900 (HTC Universal). However, my reception is not too good and it usually takes some time for my phone to catch on with the network after a hard/soft reset.
Can anyone recommend which Radio version is the best so far, in terms of reception strength and stability?
Many thanks!
If you don't use Universal while driving, change to 1.08.00, otherwise stay as you are (this is my opinion).
1.08.00 seems to have some problems with the handover between GSM cells.
using 1.6 without any pb at the moment
1.08.00 gave me problems switching between WiFi and GPRS connections only remedied with soft resets, blah...I went back to 1.06.
I just upgraded to 1.06.00. There is less delay in connecting when I answer the phone.
I see. Many thanks.
So it seems that Radio 1.06.00 is the most stable then?
Another question, the updates for Radio version, are they all generic for all HTC Universal sets, or must I find one specifically customised for my Dopod 900?
Hi,
You should be able the flash the rom into your Dopod without any problem. I have an Exec and have flashed the radio rom (1.06) last week that come from T-mobile in Germany. Nothing to complain about it yet! Works great! Check out the below link. You will be able to download the radio from there and lots of FAQs in there.
Hope this will be useful for you!

Interestingly, I would say that I've noticed the opposite with regard to data - 1.06 seems to drop a data connection on the move, more than 1.08.

Hello, i have tryed to look up if theres thread to this but i havent found one so i would like to post this one and ask if anyone else is having the same problem?
i have tryed different radios and Artemis roms and Energy roms what im atm using. i have my other nokia..... E52 backup phone and it haves just perfect 3G(100%) at the same places where i have whit my HTC leo T8585 really bad like 1 bar or then i loose the whole connection to 3G network. is it whit the radio or is the network too busy not likely cause that nokia works just fine... and yes i would like to use data connection whit 3G for GPS navigation where its possible but the finding the 3G network where its full whit other device just eats my battery.
And btw i live in Finland...

Try if switching to 2G networks only in the settings solves your problem, this did the trick for me.
I only switch it off for fast 3G downloading, solves the missed call issues for me too.

With all tho respect i havnt got an option USE ONLY 2G Networks. I have Downlaoded widget APN ON/OFF. It has switched it off Thanks
For me when I was in Poland radio 2.14 or 2.15 solved the problem.
I am now using 2.14, I can see that you are using 2.12 I would change that to be honest and install other radio, just experiment a little and see which one is best for you
pozdrawiam

True but i'm unsure if its a network related problem or android because i flashed so many roms with different radio's always experiencing the same data conection drop problem when 3G is on.
So i just flashed back to the stock nexus build to stay.
I wish i could use the full potential of my device too...
(The menu to switch on only 2G network is only available on stock android rom, not on sense roms etc as they use their own menu styles)

Im now definitely sure that its not a hardware related problem as i tried 4 different EU HD2's and they all had the same problem after flashing android.
Now it's only to find out if it's a radio - android compatibility problem or just a flaw in android itself.
Ok,, now again for the 10th time , i started over from task29 , up to installing radio 2.15.50.14,, then boyppc v25 rom,,, and i guess this worked for me, i still have the connection dropping but less often than it used to be. it happens maybe once a day.
isn't there a developer who can help us find out what is the problem and develop a solution for us???

Is the wifi in your school a hidden wifi? What level of security does it have?
The problem with the WiFi connection could be software or hardware
For starters, what OS/Rom are you running?
RE hardware see (but I would do a lot of checking of software before attempting this as it most likely would be software related):

The ROM version is 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD (this is dutch).
I really hope you can help me out here.
So is that WM5.5?
