Sprint Mogul to AT&T?? - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hey!
I just got a Mogul for my current carrier Sprint, but I might have to go over to the dark side (AT&T) and was wondering if I can keep the mogul but use it on their network. I understand that Sprint uses CDMA and AT&T uses GPRS which is obviously different and wasn't sure if the phone would accept the different protocol. I also know AT&T has its own version of the Mogul and was hoping I wouldn't have to buy a totally new phone.

ATT uses an entirely different type of network than Sprint. GSM (att) vs. CDMA (sprint).
The Mogul can not be used on ATT.

yeah, youll have to sell the mogul and pick up the tilt
youll probably be better off with the tilts 128 megs of ram, lol

Sprint/Nextel = Verizon = USA
ATT = T-mobile = Worldwide

I wouldnt include Nextel being equal with Sprint or Verizon.
Nextel uses iDEN, which is used worldwide.

Ironically, in some respects, the Tilt is substantially slower than the Mogul. For entertainment purposes, the Mogul is better, but for everything else, the Tilt is the way to go.

Sprint is CDMA and AT&T works on a network called GSM. Short answer is that the Mogul does not have a sim card slot and a sim card is what the service for any GSM carrier. Now sometimes some carries will come out with "world phones," like Sprint's Blackberry 8830 that supports both CDMA and GSM technology. But the Mogul is not one of those phones, but with Verizon opening up their network to all phones that are capable of CDMA and their network you could probably use the mogul with verizon.

why would you want the mogul when you can have the kaiser

MetroPCS

My pre-paid phone just ran out of minutes, and I think it is a good idea to switch to MetroPCS. I am just getting the idea that it might be possible to use a Sprint Vogue with MetroPCS. Is this really true? If so, how can I get it to work on MetroPCS w/out paying for flashing it or MetroFlashing it? I am brand new to CDMA PDA phones and flashing.
BTW, does anyone know if MetroPCS is open on Sundays in SoCal?
Thanks.
BTW, I've been looking around and I don't see a solution to this. I called MetroPCS, and they claim that they don't use CDMA smartphones. I don't know if this settles it or not.
*bump* I'm kind of in desperate need of a MetroPCS phone...
metro will support the xv6900 it supports mine with web and mms

You were misinformed... of course metro uses CDMA smartphones! CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) phones don't require SIM cards like GSM phones (ATT, Tmobile)- unless you have a world phone...
You can now get phones from other carriers (CDMA only) added onto metro's network... I have a Sprint Mogul (pda smartphone) and my wife has a Palm Treo 755p (pda smartphone) on metro's network...
I know you can flash Treos, HTC 6800, Diamond...
Go here for more information about phones on metro... http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=335
There are so many dumb-non techie- people who work at many corporate metro stores... they are just sales reps... trained to know about metro services, not to keen on phone features or other technical questions...
If you want a list of compatible phones that can be flash to metro go here:

Can the T-Mobile HD2 be used on Sprint?

I know this might be a stupid question but can the T-Mobile HTC HD2 be unlocked and used on the Sprint Network? I like Sprint and I don't want to switch carriers but I really want the HD2.
Nope...Sorry.
Nope, sprint doesn't use the same type of network that T-Mobile uses. However, the HTC Evo, pretty much the same phone as the HD2, is supposed to be coming to Sprint. It runs off of its 4G network and is supposed to run android. So if you really want sprint, but like the HD2 too much to switch, you should definitely return your hd2 and wait for the Evo from sprint.
Okay. One other question. Can a sprint phone be used on tmobile?
What don't you get ? If a phone can't go one way then it's not going to go the other. They use different signal bands. This has been asked over and over again and been answered the same way every time.
I'm sorry. I was just curious because I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 and it has the SIM card slot. I wasn't sure if it could support a T-Mobile SIM card or if I could put the sprint SIM card in a T-Mobile phone.
Ya sim card has nothing to do with it. They do not have compatible hardware.
the answer is no.... tmobile is = GSM.... sprint is = CDMA.... Verizon is = CDMA.... att is = GSM

Question about HD2 on Verizon

I am a Verizon customer that was a Alltel customer. I kept my alltel contract because it was much better than a new Verizon contract, but Verizon said I would have to buy my phones outright if I wanted to ever upgrade. My question is that on eBay some HD2's are gsm and I know cannot be used on Verizon but some are wcdma/gsm phones, can those be activated on verizon's network?
Thanks for any input. I could not find a definitive answer.
In short, WCDMA =/= CDMA. WCDMA/UMTS is the 3G evolution of GSM, and has nothing to do with CDMA. Confusing, but the gist of it is that there's no way to use an HD2 on CDMA. Might have more luck flashing a Sprint EVO to Verizon's PRL, but since CDMA's functionally dead in my country I've not looked into it at all.

[Q] Lost Phone, Can I use Sprint LG G2 On verizon?

I had a little too much fun on new years eve .. I set my Verizon LG G2 down on a table and apparently either I left it or it was stolen .. I probably left it hahaha..
Now i'm trying to get another one .. I really loved the phone...
I'm scouring eBay ..
I'm in a 2 year contract with verizon ..... but, I wanted to know ... Can I use a Sprint based LG G2 on the verizon network ? Will I still get verizon LTE ?
Same thing with T-mobile versions ? Can I get all the bands and function I did out of my verizon LG G2 ?
Thanks for the heads up guys.
I know that the Verizon one can use Sprint, but I am not sure about the other war around. I think the global one works on Verizon's LTE band, although I am not sure an that either. If you can afford it, get the Verizon model (VS980) off contract. You can check the bands and other specs on phone arena.
The T-Mobile one seems to share frequencies of Verizon's though.
Hope I helped.
Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers and run on compatible CDMA frequencies and technologies (1xRTT, EvDO) and both their branded phones can roam on/off each other's network for both voice and data.
Having said that, the fact that they're primarily CDMA carriers means that you cannot just bring a phone onto their respective networks. The ESN/MEID of the phone has to already be in their database for them to activate.
So, taking a Sprint LG G2 and walking into a Verizon store or calling Verizon to activate it will get you a big fat NO, and vice versa.
Is it technically possible? Of course.
Worth the effort/hassle? No.
T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, no CDMA, so that's out of the question, same with AT&T, or any GSM variant of the G2.
Get a Verizon LG G2. Just keep looking carefully and you'll find a good deal.
I got my Sprint LG G2 mint in box for 325, clean ESN, no funny business. Love it to bits.
You can use Sprint LG G2 on Tmobile, takes about 20 minutes

In response to this assessment I have to correct these "facts"
You CAN use Tmobile's network on Sprint LG G2 Variant. See Younggunners forum on Sprint-Tmobile rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639165
I am currently getting 4G speeds at around 14 mb on the down and 4 on the up, very workable.
I can attest that it works; I have also performed the flash on other sprint LG G2 LS980 Variants as well.
I am using Justin's rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639165&page=11,
It's an awesome stock experience!

I think you missed what he was saying. He was saying that the T-Mobile and ATT variants do not support any CDMA so they will not work at all. The sprint variant supports Verizon CDMA but verizon will not activate a sprint device on their network. In any case the sprint device does not support Verizon LTE bands. Even if Verizon activated a sprint g2 on their network it would be 3G only.

What network can the old Cricket Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970C) CDMA be used on?

Hi - I wanted to switch to Cricket so I purchased an S4 from Craigslist (beautiful phone & perfect condition) and took it to the Cricket store to activate it. I was told it was one of the old CDMA phones and they can no longer activate them. This wasn't really the story I got when I called Cricket Customer Service and gave them the IMEI, but that's neither here nor there.
QUESTION: What network can the old Cricket Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970C) CDMA be used on?
The specs on the Samsung site shows it supports the following Frequencies and Data Type LTE: Bands 2/4/25; CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/AWS/1900MHz.
P.S. Searched the forums quite extensively, but to my surprise, I couldn't find much on this. I'm sure there are a lot of these Cricket phones out there though. What has everyone else done with theirs?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4
Here you can see what different frequencies are used in the different models. That way you can crossreference.
Based upon the frequencies, it appears it could be activated on Sprint or Verizon, assuming either company has a means of allowing out of network phones on their network. High speed data won't be happening with this S4. Sprint Spark doesn't use LTE, and Verizon blocks LTE on phones that aren't Verizon branded.
For anyone else looking in the future: I also found a carrier ting.com that appears to show 4G could be used.
Ting is a Sprint MVNO, which means it uses Sprint Spark for its high-speed data. Earlier this year they started offering GSM coverage, and that coverage apparently is through T-Mobile. HSPA+ should be doable through Ting, just as it should be doable on all MVNOs. LTE is unlikely.
using mine on verizon with gusto 3 donor phone
