Attn: Super Geniuses... How about some help? - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have spent so much time trying to hash out this problem,, and Im hoping the super gurus here on xda could help me...
What mechanism makes a phones ril,, "roaming indicator light" come on?
let me give a little back story...
Ive gotten a brand new qwest Mogul, and put all my alltel settings into the phone,,, phone and data work perfect,, but the ril is on... I checked fieldtrial im on the correct sid etc. but it shows digital roaming even though it is not...
I superCID the phone and flashed the stock alltel rom/radio from htc site, and redid the otap,, all works again,, but still shows roaming,
after a lot of reading, I have come to the conclusion that somewhere in the phone is a cic, or carrier identification code, that is stored somewhere in the phone,, possibly in one of the lower levels, this i speculate is used to match against the cic coming from the tower that the phone is connected to to tell if it is on home network or not...
I have searched through the phone endlessly, I have used qpst and made sure all my settings nam, hdr, etc all match my original alltel 6800, I have used qxdm to look at the rf nv, and browsed the full nv settings of the phone and cant find anything,, I took cdma workshop and tried to do an eeprom dump but was unsuccessful...
I have searched through the registry without luck,,,
What i am trying to do,, is not trick the phone into turning off the ril by hacking the registry,,,
I am trying to find within the phone where the actual carrier id is stored, so that it may be changed to my carriers id,,,
thanks in advance

Figured id give it one bump...

I am not a "super genius" when it comes to mobile phone technology, but I have a question for you:
Did you alter the ESN on the phone? I was under the impression that carriers own certain ESNs and to get on another network without roaming, you have to use one of that carrier's ESNs.
Is this true or just bull?
Also, I have read conflicting info on updating the ESN of a phone, but most agree that "cloning" a mobile phone is illegal. The fuzzy part is what counts as "cloning" a phone... especially if you own it.
Thanks.

no i didnt change the esn... alltel will gladly activate most phones... sprint and verizon just refuse to because they want you to spend your money buying equipment from them. I have never heard of a wireless company owning an esn. well ive heard of it. but dont believe it to be true. but with my case i just called alltel and gave them the esn of the new mogul and pow it was on..

well,, one last little bump wont hurt.....

Mine has the same problem. Did you ever figure this out? Mine is a Sprint Mogul flashed to Alltel with the correct PRL and all other settings duplicated from my old 6700.
FieldTrial.exe does show I'm connected to the correct SID so it's not really roaming, it just thinks it is.
Have you tried exporting QPST settings from your original 6800 to the Mogul?

You need to go into phone settings, under phone, and check your settings there. Roaming should be set to automatic, and not roaming only.
You can always choose Sprint only. (Quest uses Sprint's Towers) Good luck with your phone!

The latest ROM update for Alltel fixes this problem.
http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_T...S_TITAN_03.37.20_Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe
After flashing the new ROM, do a *228 and when the lady starts talking, press 3 to activate. When the phone reboots, the icon will be gone.

[SOLVED]Help please. HLR reload broke my phone.

I already started this at the end of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1881093#post1881093
but now I'm in real trouble so I'm starting a new thread hoping for help.
I was using 3.16 ROM on my mogul and all seemed fine until today I got an authentication error while voice roaming(edit: I said data roaming initially by accident). I called sprint to get an HLR reload becasue the above thread indicated this was helping people.
My phone quit making calls and quit data connections. Data ended with "cannot connect for unkoww reason". Calls simply disconnecte imediately. I could call *2 though.
Sprint had me rest my phone a few times and the checked the MSN/MSID info (which was fine) and evenutually sugestet I try the official rom (yes I was honest with them). I tried this, flashed 2.17 same deal.. after an hour with a tech he eventually told me the 2.17 is an "upgrade" rom and that it won't overwrite everything and that I should reload the original rom... so I just loaded 2.09.. checked MSN and MSID... in fact checked every setting in the EPST stuff against my touch. Everything is the same... except the security section (which doesn't exist on the touch) had the wrong username was my [email protected]nt... instead of sprint email) and some giberrish for a password.
I'm not sure what this should be, but actually I doubt it's the issue.
I'm stuck though. My phone is effectively bricked(it plays bubble breaker well at least) and I'm at a loss. Please advise if you can.
I just got off the phone with sprint. I have reverted to the 2.09 ROM. With the sprint reps help I did "master reset" which i didn't know existed. This is deeper than both a soft reset and a hard reset. It resets all the EPST data like MDN and MSID. We then set these back to what they should be. But no dice. She told me the phone radio must be broken and claimed that the *2 call uses a different radio. (really? does anyone believe that?) So her advice was to go to the repair center (which is 40 miles from here). OH.. and she put a diferent MSID which I find strange. It's no longer my phone number. I asked her if this was right and she said it probably changed when I asked for the HLR reload but that it was correct... weird. I'm in bad shape.
I called back becuase after forcing the phone to roaming I got an interesting message from verzion sayign they would transfer me to their operator where I could pay money to make a call... doesn't sound like a broken radio to me.
So I told the guy this but this time I got someone who knew what he was doing and before I could finish telling him about it he had it fixed. Aperently there was a setting in there system called HSA_Roaming_only that was set incorrectly and was forcing to try to connect to other networks. He checked it (I think.. or maybe unchecked it..) and voila... after several hours and three roms... it works.
The same thing happened to me when I did an HLR reload. I called sprint and told them my symptoms and they fixed it within 3 minutes. I didnt reinstall anything. You got totally whored by sprint, I feel for you.

Did this allow you to EVDO roam? I cant data roam on EVDO and my girlfriends phone can. She is on the 2.17 official and i am on the 3.17 unofficial.

How do you do a master reset?
In the end I did get everything working again. I did get voice roaming working on 3.16 and I do have 1x roaming. I don't believe I have evdo roaming, but I probably won't know for sure until I go into work tomorrow.
I don't think the master reset was needed in the end.. but I could see that it might help someone someday. There is I think a ##something# code to get to the full epst settings, but I just go to \windows\EPST.lnk (edit: this is wrong.. see my next post)
Run it, select edit.. enter you MSL.. please don't ask how to find it.. search. Then under the menu tab... right soft key there is a reset option that I never noticed before. This will reset all the radio setup options to some default values and will do hard reset... erasing your data as usual. I have no idea where these defaults live on the phone... It seems like some roms end up changing at least the MSID and MDN, but some don't. I don't know what else they might change or how they affect what the defaults are that this resetting does.
In summary to my issue, there were two problems:
1) MSID was changed (during the hlr reload) in sprints system to something other than my phone number, (and now it likes to go back to phone number in my phone during upgrades thus not matching with what sprint has)
2) the HSA_ROAMING_ONLY flag in SPRINT's system (not my phone) was set wrong.
You got totally whored by sprint, I feel for you.

keep us updated on the evdo roaming. this is a big deal to me and i hope this isnt like this in the final version of the rom...
First.. I'm wrong about the reset.. it seems you must do the ##something# to get the epst that has the reset option in the menu tab. Opening through the windows link doesn't give that option. (edit: it's ##786#.. some googling found it.. doesn't seem terribly common information though plus google won't take "##".)
I am not getting evdo roaming and I'm pretty certain there should be verizon evdo coverage here... in fact I occassionally see the evdo symbol briefly when I switched to forced roaming, but it goes away immediately.. I suspect it doesn't authenticate.
Being that verizon seems to have much more evdo coverage than sprint, and that they make like $40 a month off their own customers for access to it(last I checked), it wouldn't be at all surprising if sprint can't pay/provide them enough (with all these sero plans) to get them to allow it. But I speculate.
Did anyone ever have this working? I never did.
well mine wont evdo roam on the new leaked rom. But my girlfriend has the same phone in the same house with the 2.17 rom and can evdo roam just fine... so it is baffling me
Something about the new rom is causing the problem, because having these two phones side by side and them acting differently is strange. mine also roamed fine on evdo before i installed the leaked rom btw
Everything else seems to function as normal, but the no evdo roaming is driving me mad. i really hope this isnt an issue in the official rom when it comes out.
we are also both on sero plans and roaming on alltel towers here.
Masater Reset Code
in order to do a master reset you need your MSL# then type ##MSL# and then you can do the master reset this will reset everything and i mean evereything to factory defaults. you will have to go through the sasme initial setup as when the phone was activated the first time. so make sure you have all your correct MSN/MISD numbers

Hmm .. when I go in there I still do not see where I can do a master reset. All I can do is change the MDN and MSID and then select OK.
Cool. I haven't been able to roam on Verizon's towers since I added the leaked ROM either. If I can manage to get through to tech support (the CSR in chat said she couldn't help me) I will have them reset the HSA flag to allow high speed digital roam.

I'm on sero too, but again it's verizon roaming here.. so may be related to why it never worked for me in the first place. You could dare to just call sprint and ask why it's not working.

This is wrong.. this won't get you there, at least not on my phone.. and actually you DON'T need an MSL... BUT you better have it handy to fix things after you do the reset.
Just do ##786# as I stated above (sorry for the confusion the first time) and then look in the menu soft key.
EDIT: After you do the master reset... then you can do the ##MSL# and fix your MSID and MSN to what they should be.
To neodorian... please read what I wrote... this flag DID NOT do anything for my data roaming (and I am in verizon territority) This didn't even fix the usual voice roaming problem as far as I can tell (that's something else unknown which is fixed by the HLR reload, this only fixed my rather unusual problem where I could ONLY roam... and furthermore had to supply a credit card number to do so! This was something sprint broke for me just because they liked me better than you.
I had the authentication issue on my VZW XV6800 - I called in to tech support and after talking to the first person, and mentioning a HSL reset, she transferred me to level 2. The guy had me do basic troubleshooting, and examined some settings, then had me remove the battery for at least 1 minute. reload phone, try over the air programming, and test calls. all to no avail. he then had me go in and edit the settings using ##778 (VZW default password for editing is 000000) you don't need to use the hex code and program designed to give you the password, especialy since I tried this, and it didn't work.
Anyway, he generated a new A(uthentication) code on his end, had me manually input it, and he also had me change my Home SID/NID. Mine said 30/65535. He said it should be 30748/65535.
I then did another *228 #2 and was now able to make a test call. After hanging up I went back and looked, and the Home SID/NID #1 was 30/65535 again. Not sure if those extra numbers did anything, but the phone got rid of them.
I am able to call out and receive calls now, and the data seems to be zipping right along. When I tested gps last night it had me miles from where I was located.
UPDATE:
GPS seems to be working fine. I'm guessing the tower I was "connecting to" was miles away, since I live at the base of a butte, and have terrible reception. Most likely that WAS the closest tower to where my phone was.

HTC Hero (CDMA / SPRINT) flashed to Cricket Wireless

for those who may be interested...it is possible to have your hero flashed to work on the Cricket network. it may not be for everyone, but i couldn't resist the lure of $40/mo unlimited everything with no contract. (saves around $1,000+ over the life of the contract)
here's what i did:
-buy cdma hero on ebay
-go to a cricket store and ask them to activate the phone
-usually the rep will "know a guy" who can work with htc (try a few stores or call around)
-they may charge you $30 or so to flash it and its working
wireless data, visual voicemail, and mms dont' work...but they expect to get them working soon (phone is only a few weeks old at this point)... and where i'm at, i almost always have wifi and don't care about vm or mms.
Might see if any of these guys know about xda...perhaps they just need to be pointed here to share the wealth of what they're doing.
HTC Hero Phone Code Numbers ##
if you do transfer to cricket (or perhaps another cdma carrier), a good thing to know is:
##000000#
this will allow you to edit or view EPST (change/view your Mobile Directory Number MDN and MSID)
The MDN is your current phone number, your local cricket store can give you your MSID (which also depends on your phone number).

The radio is separate from the OS and the traditional CDMA tools work on the Hero like any other phone. There are plenty of other forums talking about how to port CDMA phones to other providers; especially Indian forums because there are large CDMA networks there.
Edit: when he says "flash it," he probably just means to put a new PRL (preferred roaming list) and editing the details under ##DATA to match what another provider wants.

"Broadband Workaround Trick"
Hey guys!
I'm new to the Hero (CDMA Sprint flashed to Cricket) and Android. Totally new. I'm no stranger to Windows Mobile though, I've been a pretty intense user and contributor to development on the Axim x51v. Thought it was time to update though, and here I am.
Now, I've googled my butt off (which is going to make it tough to poop later, for sure), and I just can't find much detail or step by step info on how to get internet access working on this thing other than Wifi.
I have phone/text, and I also bought a Cricket Broadband plan to go along with it.
My phone is not rooted, not unlocked, unless this was part of what they did at the Cricket store to get my Hero flashed to Cricket.
I've read some mentions in google searches about a way to use my Broadband service through my phone... but I need some step by step info on how to do this. Can anyone help? What would be handy, as a somewhat savvy noob, would be prerequisites, instructions, and info I'll need to do this.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help, and I apologize in advance if I didn't google well enough before asking... although I definitely gave it a damn good shot before asking for help!
I've never tried it, so i don't know, but i have flashed a lot of WM phones to cricket with working mms and WAP. I would think you could get the internet to work by entering first changing your msl to 000000 and then just entering in all the correct settings in your EPST like you would a windows mobile phone?
cricket wap on hero
the phone has built in proxy support so u can download anycut from the market and input "wap.mycricket.com" and "8080" in the proxy settings. however most of the internet apps dont work, but the browser does. i believe the broadband hack or possibly the html plan will help in getting the internet apps to work but havent tried yet
htc hero wap no working
.i have a sprint htc hero that had cellular south on it now its flashed to cricket.the only thing working is calling.can you walk me through getting internet.i belive my wap setting are set up,but when i try and connect to mobile network it says "standbye for connecting to mobile network then connecting and keeps repeating"i have read that iv got to root the phone.iv been trying to root with no success.and hepl please .ty
htc hero cricket
please help dont want to try anything till im shure .lol
its actually possible. my friend works for cricket and got a sprint branded touch pro working. he just has voice and mms. but its a start i guess. i needs my data lol.
so why would you want a hero that only half the features work on?
i have an htc hero...i live in laredo tx..if anyone knows how i can flash this cell phone to cricket please let me know..they have told me that they dont have the software to do so..please HELP ME!!! *TeAr* and where did u guyz flash it so i can go overthere if i cant do to here....

[Q] updated to 6.5 and now always roaming

---back story---
I updated my vogue from 6.0 to 6.1 and it would not turn on.
After many different attempts (and changing my radio a few times because it kept saying no radio) I got it to load with a rom from a foreign country, then I tried us cellular then sprint and all of them said I was roaming.
I then updated to a kitchen 6.5 rom and it still says I'm roaming.
---------------
My carrier is Inland Cellular (when roaming it is through the Verizon Network)
I'm not actually roaming but the warnings are quite annoying.
So my question is would changing my radio again fix it?/What radio would I use or would it matter?
In one of those updates, if you let any of their customizations run it may have changed the PRL file (roaming file). The only way to get rid of the roaming triangle would be to get one for your carrier (Inland Cellular). I would no recommend placing calls on your phone, you could be roaming on who-knows network.
I'm trying to track down a PRL for your network, but I am totally not finding one. I'll keep an eye out though. If you know a forum for people with the same carrier as you, you might want to look into getting a PRL from them. ^^;
To update your PRL after you have the file, dial ##PRL# on your phone, type your MSL (use MSLGrabber if the code is not 000000), and then hold the box with an empty file name until a selection box comes up, tap it, then find the PRL file on your phone... blah blah blah select okay. Commit the change to the phone, restart...
Now to just find one. -_-
Thank you so much!
Turns out I was roaming on some random network so I did have a few roaming charges, but when I went up to pay the charges I explained to them (the part they would not get mad about) and he said that if I bring it back tomorrow he could fix the PRL, and due to the fact that they don't tell their customers about only updating with download from their site I am not the first person to do this. Thank you for your insight TheXev!
Awesome, glad to be of service.
So turns out my carrier decided not to help... Not because I am running a kitchen rom or anything like that, but because I had an unofficial battery in my phone. (I bought it as a refurb from them and they still said my warranty is now void)
THEN IT HIT ME. I grabbed my old inland cellular titan and extracted the PRL and loaded it onto mine! NO MORE ROAMING!
Problem solved!
Good idea. I've had to do that before. You should post your PRL file somewhere online so others can download it. I don't think you can do it on XDA until you have 10 or more post.

The Samsung Epic 4G Flashing Guide (for alternative carriers)

The following is a guide I put together over the course of today about flashing the Samsung Epic 4G to both Cricket and Page Plus. This will work with phones that have bad ESN's (at least, Page Plus and Cricket) -- and with phones that are totally fine and saintly, but maybe you want to go to another carrier for a cheaper rate?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E4nNITQnzEoEkkVp4j7k_N_yghvNh_SozuKe3az_Nx4/edit?hl=en_US
In the future, as more information becomes available, I'd like to incorporate other carriers that people are flashing (Metro PCS, Boost), as I find out more. The idea is to build a one-source guide for everything you need from start to finish.
The guide takes you from the very beginning to the very end. PRL's, etc, are all inclusive. I've flashed my Epic to both Cricket and Page Plus successfully -- just like Page Plus's coverage/quality better (and cheaper... but hardly any data -- user Wifi). Even if you don't want to flash, it still has useful things like unlocking your phone for use on any carrier that will take it.
Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Just as a note, I'm no longer involved in the Epic community. I migrated on to a newer device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34802383&postcount=72 If you need any help, I will still be available through PM's to the best of my ability.
The HA/AAA shared secrets for Page Plus are not "vzw", trust me. I'm running with full 3G on Page Plus right now and after many late nights I realized the only way to get it was a temporary clone to a Verizon phone so that I could get the proper keys through OTA programming. Unfortunately posting a guide to that would probably get XDA on my/your ass. With the "vzw" password you will technically get 3G but it will be throttled to 1xRTT speed (about .1 Mbps). I don't know if the same is true for cricket or not...
Nevertheless I'm sure someone out there will very much appreciate the time and effort you put into this; props!
So using this guide i can unlock the epic meaning ill still be on sprint, but if i suddenly wanted metro i can just take it to the store and have em flash it?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I request a stickey
I haven't flashed to Metro, but if I can find someone that supports all the features I want, I may give it a shot and write a guide. Does Metro support bad ESN's? (Long story short, got scammed by a Samsung Epic on CraigsList, Sprint said ESN was clear, but is still linked to scammer's account, who refuses to remove, etc, and commit insurance fraud... Talked to insurance and he's in jail now, apparently, but phone will probably be forever blacklisted on Sprint).
Currently, I'm trying to find a provider who can give Google Voice support and Data... MMS I'm not so concerned about. Page Plus is my only "good" option now (a step above cricket, but limited data). Any thoughts? Metro PCS apparently doesn't support Houston, TX when I try to find a plan, either.
EDIT: I may try to give Cricket another go. I've been reading a little bit more and have learned a bit about making Cricket work. Would be nice to try the $45 plan on Cricket to save some $$$. I've talked with some people who claim MMS and Google Voice CAN happen, but it's a little more tricky. Will let you know as I figure it out (must wait a month to not lose $30 from PagePlus).
im confused i dont have these MDN and MIN and your guide says i should have gotten them when i got the phone? is this from sprint and am i supposed to call?
also i got the phone replaced by another epic today. the phone kept trying to auto activate. it still is trying to autoactivate. i swapped the epic out for a nexus the other day. what should i do. if you can pm me and talk over the phone that would be great. my mom is going to new york wednesday and i want to pageplus this phone before she leaves.
I've gotten a couple PMs regarding the HA/AAA keys so I'm going to say this. I would gladly provide them for you guys but that's just not how it works. The keys change every time I (re)activate. They are probably tied to the time and the MEID of the phone, possibly more than that. My keys wouldn't do any of you any good.
It sucks, but the only way that I know to get them is to use a Verizon phone.
duh ask from carrier. now i followed all the steps including the manual update because auto won't happen. afterwards i autoupdated but it aint working? or am i supposed to buy airtime now?
not getting any help. please someone
i completed all the instructions and i can't dial out. i have a triangle at the top. when i call pageplus they are asking for a esn. what the heck am i supposed to do

i switched back to the prl on his thread. i wonder if he switched the prls from cricket to pageplus on accident? this sucks i been working all day got school soon and no help for my mom. ahh
So, the PRL isn't working for you, eh? The PRL for Page Plus is 51--- something -- Cricket is 42700.
Are you sure that your phone is unlocked? Are you sure you're reading from phone to get current settings before writing PRL, phone number, etc, back to the phone? (it should prompt you for your MSL -- which should now be 000000) Then make sure you fill out the data correctly. You should be able to get your MIN/MDN by asking for them from Page Plus. I openly told the rep on the phone I was trying to flash the phone myself and he gave me all of the information (and then a little bit more -- unfortunately, not the HA/AAA secret). I was actually originally using my Motorola Droid and asked them to try putting ONE OTHER phone on, to test it out (my Epic). Long story short, it did.
Page Plus uses Verizon's towers -- so it's OK if you're getting that. My phone apparently "roams" as well, but I have yet to have any issues. It's just what shows up.
I've heard that Cricket (prior carrier) can be configured to work 100% with the Samsung Epic for the $45 plan. When my month of minutes runs out, I'll try swapping back and seeing what all I can do... I learned a lot while working on this, so I think I have a little more expertise on this. Prior, I had never unlocked my device, so auto-activation never worked with Cricket! Eeek!
Anyway I will of course write something up about that.

cool. i will stick to sero truly duly unlim 4g wimax. anyways. roaming is normal? where did you get the prl? i am using an older prl i found online. i was getting the message you might be charged for roaming prior to each call.
I do not get that message for my PRL. If I remember correctly, PRL's are just how your phone knows which tower to connect to. I've heard they vary based on where you live. In any case, since PP offers nationwide coverage, I'm not thinking I'm roaming and no charges have shown on my phone yet.

yeah its activated. i had your prl when i activated it and i was getting the roaming message per call. there was the roaming signal on the signal bar throughout. i switched the prl and it went away.
can you check the prl out and the source can you pm it?
Newbie question. I have an unactivated sprint epic. I can't seem to get QPST to recognize the phone. The phone shows up as a modem in the device manager but QPST appears to see something connected but doesn't see the phone as modem. I've rebooted and switched USB ports as well. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Reboot
Keep. Trying its a pain

Do you have the drivers for the Samsung Epic 4G installed for sure? What OS? May want to potentially try running as an Administrator, just in case (I don't have this issue, but I know some folks at MS have told me their hardware-heavy programs don't work when they aren't in Admin mode).
Make sure to uncheck the box in QPST about diagnostic/etc ports. Just enable all the ports you can in QPST Configuration and you should hopefully see it.
Are you absolutely sure it shows up as a Samsung Modem?

I am using XP. Under Device Manager -> Modems, it reads "Samsung Mobile Modem #2". I also installed the drivers from the Samsung support site. For ports, QPST reads "COM5-USB/QC Data Modem" in the "Add New Port" window with the box unchecked. In the "Ports" window it reads "No Phone" under the "Phone" column.
Thanks

[Q] evo 4g in vz prepaid, no dmu key??

so, i was with cricket using an evo 4g.
I flashed the phone, (also 3 droids x2, and a thunderbolt for different people, btw friends and family).
Right now Im working on a area where cricket hardly covers.
I found out on ebay about the verizon prepaid unlimited... saw the videos... I thought i could do it, but my months with cricket was up and couldnt bear it anymore.
I contacted a local guy and .. i had to pay for the verizon flash. Being out of time and working long hours didnt give a chance to find out by myself.
(actually somehow i messed with the phone and i ended up roaming all the time, and when i asked that guy for the prl (wich i found out to be straightalk) he female doged me a lot, after several messages of being nice to him and convincing him that i simply needed a few kb file, he sent it, and I got it back to regular speed)
(he also didnt set me up with mms, i came here until i finally got it)
Anyways I'm really happy with verizon , it's really fast , 20mb in less than 2 minutes!!!, wow!!,,, BUT the evo its pretty messed up, and I got in my hands an S2 from sprint.
Now I simply want to take the info off the evo and put it into the galaxy s2,
But the only problem that i see ,is that the EVO does not have a DMU key file!!!
I checked in dfs and qpst
And i always check, double check, google and hours and days go by until i ask for help.So i honestly dont wan to pay him again, to connect a phone and copy paste the settings, and as i mentioned before hes not that savy, he couldnt enter diag mode in my evo, because i had go dial, and he freaked and installed another rom, see what i mean???? he couldnt get into diag mode!
So I doubt this guy has everything organized and pretty to have files and info for the phone he does, but even if he is, i dont even want to see him.
So another question is, how is the evo working in vz without a dmu key file?
thanks in advance, and please only respond useful stuff, if youre going to say idk...", why dont you talk to the guy..", just save your thoughts (i hope this doesnt sound mean but, man!, the people you find in forums can really give you headaches)
It looks like your are going to need a reflash with another or the same donor. Contact your flasher about it

the basic phone is the donor?
If so, what do you call the vz smartphone?
Can i use a sch i100 verizon phone for the flash process,?
i saw on the myverizon webpage an option to change device, it simply asks you for a new meid, i simply get a new meid and flash it.to a 3g verizon, right?
Fashed galaxy s 2 without DMU key!!
So , I ordered a cheap 3g vz phone. It's gonna take some time to arrive, so I decided to pre-flash the s2.
I started with DFS doing the meid, data and user profiles.
I found out I had voice n text .
then tried messing with the setting on the phone tru data menu , no go, tried apnbackup , it was not possible either.
looking at my evo settings in DFs, reading and re-reading the guide, I noticed in DFS where you put the AAA and HA passwords below there are two DMU value boxes, and the evo pictures had some numbers on it.
so i re-reflashed the phone doing the nv items file, couple of OTA programming and setting the profiles in qpst again until i got 1x data speed,
so i re-did everything over and over and this last time I click in DFS , THE WRITE CURRENT PROFILE SETTINGS button, in the two profiles and entered the DMu values over and over.
And it worked, but before that i was on rooted xx13 rom and then upgraded ota, but it messed up the flash, so before flashing for the last time, i simply wiped everything and installed latest rom rooted.
I got decent speeds and mms is solved by using go sms, (theres 2 places where you put the vzw address) and trying to go into the data menu on the phone didnt work. And for you tube I did the 0.0.0.0 trick, but it doesnt show the zeroes, only the sprint proxies. but youtube works regardless.
I hope this post helps somebody.
