I started using PocketDos First, its the demo/trial version. I am trying to play either version 1 or 2 of the classic dos game "street rod" by california dreams. I have pocketdos loaded, the nag screen clears and then i execute SR to open the game. I get a choce of video options, ega, cga, vga etc. I use vga as its the only choice that semi works. Game loads up just fine and looks great. Sound works too! 2 problems. First the mouse doesent calibrate properly. I have tried to recalibrate the mouse from the menu and it works for roughly 3 clicks or so and the mouse is then uncalibrated again and off by quite alot. Secondly and most importantly, once you exit your garage to either head to the burger joint to race, or the gas station to fill up. the graphics from the inside view of the car are all glitchy. from the top of the dash and up(windshield) looks fine, but below the dash, all the gauges, steering wheel, and shifter console are displaying strange blinking graphics. Basically you cannot drive a vehicle because of this graphics issue. When your in the garage everything works great! any ideas as to why the graphics would glitch while driving? I have a post on a forum where the pocketdos tech support is...but they are not very willing to help. I have also tried a couple other emulators listed in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1276884
however i either couldnt figure out how to configure the emulator, or once i got the game loaded the Mouse didnt work at all and i couldnt navigate thru the game.
Here is the link to the forum where i was asking for help from the pocketdos admins
http://forums.pocketpcfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=19883
And here are a couple screenshots of the game running on my advantage..the last two shots show what the graphics are doing when i try to drive....if you have any advice, please let me know. And these screenshots are from POCKETDOS, walls port i cannot get the mouse to click, so i'm currently only able to use this emulator, pocketdos.

I am now trying walls port pDOSBox2.0. I get the game to load, everything seems to be ok, i can see the mouse in game, but when i click...nothing happens..the pointer isnt registering the clicks in game..any ideas if I am going to use this port? I just want to be able to play this retro game on my advantage! Thanks for your help
and just so everyone knows the game works perfectly on a windows machine..so its not something wrong with the game itself
I know its kinda a tough question, as its probably got to be answered by a person with PocketDos experience....I know your out there somewhere oh wise pocketdos person
on a side note..anyone else ever play either of the two dos games back in the day?
nobody out there has experience with pocketdos?
Well here is my response from the pocketdos support:
Dear Sir,
It appears as if this software is using a hardware feature of the EGA/VGA chipset which is not supported by PocketDOS. Unfortunately, this feature is non-trivial to implement in PocketDOS, and is used by very few software titles as it is not even supported by all VGA chipsets. In short, there is no way to run this software correctly under PocketDOS.
Thank you for your interest.

Has anybody got lemmings for the XDA? ive searched all over the show all ive found a rubbish clone and one that crashes/has no levels.
http://www.freewareppc.com/games/lemmings.shtml
this is the only version i've ever seen on pocketpc
that is unless one can get it for one of the emulators for pocketpc
The site no longer has the file !
Got a mirror ?
http://www.madaj.net/files/pocketpc/games/lemmings/
if it's not the right one then google some more
Cheers !
Its only got 4 levels though.. time for google !
EDIT: and there no exit ! i had to restart my xda2 after playing it.
Hi all,
Did anyone found lemmings?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Saadi
yes, used a atari ST emulator.. but it doesnt really work that well
here but mind you that its me whos hosting it and i have a bandwidth limit so if too many people get it the site will be closed
if anybody who gets it can host it somewhere that problem will be solved
http://home1.stofanet.dk/mmichael/rre/game/Lemming Game Arm.zip
there is also this game which is pretty much like lemming aswell
http://www.mobile2day.de/partner/111/details.php?pid=3,921,966,1107,7690
here is a mirror for the lemming-game: http://www.power-on.at/mdaii/freewaregames/Lemming Game Arm.zip
btw: - anyone has done add. levels for this?
Hi all,
I have installed the lemming game but it did not work on my SPV M1000.
I got a black screen.
Can anybody help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Saadi
The ST emulator one is absolutely perfect and definitely worth a try, however it's hampered by problems with the virtual mouse driver of the emulator (due to an inherent design flaw with the way the real ST uses the mouse). I believe the emu is still being worked on, so maybe there might be a better mouse in the next release.
I am also looking for lemmings so I thought I would bring this thread back to life.
I found one version from 2003 that had 30 levels but was 2 fast on my MDAIII.
Found another were I could not turn off the sound and had to reset to get out off.
Anybody come across a uesable version and could point me to it, please.
WE WANT LEMMINGS!
not thru an emulator cos we can't use stylus.
In this day and age and with a thousand dollar phone we should be able to get lemmings!
lemmings
lemmings
lemmings
lemmings!
let's go!
There is a new clone out called Cavemen from Lightworks Games, it has over a hundred levels but not very difficult but the authors will be releasing harder levels soon. The quality of the game is excellent.
http://www.lightworksgames.com/cavemen/cavemen.aspx
Hum looks like it could be good.
Thanks
Ist nice to look at but a bit to obvious side as you can work out what you need to do just be the fact you only have a few men to do it with thus the options are not realy mind blowing.
Have had it for an close to 2 hours and have got through around 37 levels (about a 3rd). Thus I dont think it would last long and it sort of proves its easy.
Think my kids will like it if they dont go through it to fast), for me well its was worth the 12.95 but only since I have been looking so long for one.
Think I need to see some more levels.
How about this lemmings clone.
Works fine on my Magician.
Unpack the rar file & copy the "IsitarArm" folder to your storage card
Use file explorer to create a shortcut in your games folder.
Enjoy.
Yup
I remeber this one, seems to be way to fast for my BA and a bit like working on a AT when it comes to the graphics.
Thanks for the upload.
I found a 2003 version by Kendall Redburn:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/edownload/free/de/pocket/lemmings1_14.zip
The program start with a simple menu, but after press "Play Level" button appear a screen old paper:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

}
and it crash.
help!!
hi there, happy new year !
I have the same problem!
when I click on the old paper, it sounds an old door opening and it crashes...
I found this in lemmings.txt:
... If the program is crashing when it starts:
Navigate to the windows folder and look for the file gx.dll If this file is not present, copy the one supplied with this zip into the windows folder of your deviced ...
Click to collapse
but the gx.dll is still present in windows folder
it is not the same but i can't smash it...
does anybody have an idea ??
thanks

I was thinking about, as the subject, to an app who allow to map the g-sensor as an hardware button.
In some games, for example, where you can assign an action to a button, would great to incline the diamond and assign the action you need (L,R, Up & Down)
I don't know about how work has to be done, but imagine isn't too easy.
the problem is that the Diamond only has one button for personalize: large press in call botton
but other option is use a sensible area of screen how the squares touch pad in notebooks
It would just be a matter of a background process watching the G-Sensor and sending keystrokes via the keybd_event function to the foreground window/focused control. Good idea, and would be pretty easy, but I'm too busy.
I hardly doubt, that you can play with such controller
Like, stressing phone, and screaming at it, as you cannot progress the game
The most suitable is the semi-transparent on-screen controller, like in NES emulator
But withvirtual pad you can't push "Up+A" (per exemple) because WM dont accept "Dual Touch"
Sorry 4 my English...
I think that the game is playable... just find a GOOD algorithm to balance the sensitivity (not too inclined for a direction) and the directions (up, up-right, right, etc)
This is the usually iphone example
BTW think how many game with the emulators and, why not, at the "never seen touchxperience rom"... sending keystrokes (up, down, left, right) in the today screen, album.... to the ACTIVE WINDOW

Please find the time, I think a lot of people would be most appreciative, you've already done so much for the diamond community, c'mon Koush blag a day off work and sort it out! It would almost give us vuflo!
Ok I have began writing this application like an hour ago.
I will keep you updated as soon as I have something usable. (the program works already, but I have to create some windows so you can configure it)

Awesome, can't wait to try this out, thanks for taking this on.
WoW Great NEWS! but all those g-sens related apps can goes in conflict... make in mind to consider a function that auto-rotate the screen (and also the G-gestures)... two control panels like the "Brins0net ScreenRotator" to exclude the rotation of the screen & G-gestures, and the possibility to add windows in execution would be GREAT
...maybe now i'm asking too much BTW it will be THE ONLY NECESSARY G-app in background, for all diamond users.
(hemm should be considered also a screen lock, but is not too necessary)

many thanks
I'm still working on about all those things...
Now is cup of coffee time
I will first of all end up the "VueFlo"-side of the app and make a first release, then I'll see for other functions like AutoRotation and the interaction between that and "VueFlo".
Just wait a little, I'm almost done with first release
Hi there,
is there any chance to modify WVGAFIX3, to get a VGA screen resolution on the WVGA-devices PLUS a virtual d-pad?? That would be great for many programs and a gift from heaven!
I hope, I'm not too cheeky, but that would solve many problems of many users, who need to use older software on their new devices.
thx a lot in advance!!!
I agree, would be a godsend!
Anyone interested in becoming my hero? I have an Omnia, very capable, but cannot use many java games because of touchscreen ....... I think many would benefit!
I would appreciate that!!
I vote FOR with both hands
An ideea 4 arrows and OK button in the middle like Cruise have.
Me too....
The Toshiba TG01 has some sort of virtual d-pad. Maybe someone can extract it to other WVGA devices?
about direct pad... probably good idea. maybe will look into at next WVGAFIX update.

Perfect
Perhaps very helpful :-T
I'm willing to make the UI
I'm willing to contribute the user interface (you know, nice looking floating small D-Pad) as long as someone will teach me how to programatically control the arrows (probably some kind of a win32 API function that needs to be invoked...)
Great if it was done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It works in some games and apps technically I view it even in opengles apps... but only few games uses it...
There was a pretty big discussion on this quite a while ago, but I think it kind of petered out eventually. One of the ideas was to implement a simulated multi-touch that uses virtual points in between the controls. This works very well in fact in Morphgear for playing games that require a direction and an A button for instance.
To see the multi-touch discussion check out here. To see how it was implemented in morphgear, check out this great skin here.
But even a simple cross with a select button without multi-touch simulation would be wonderful. Same implementation allowing direction + an extra button using simulated multi-touch even better!

Hi, sorry for the new thread

Thanks for the help, and have a nice day
From what I remember of trying to get quake1 running on the universal its a waste of time.
The real issue is not the white screen as I did manage to run it eventually, its the fact that the universal is vga resolution. Pocket quake has only developed stylus movement for a qvga screen, so with a vga resolution its all out of wack as you have can only move around with the stylus at the top left-hand corner and not where you are actually pointing.
And if you think you don't mind just using the keyboard, think again...
Also the framerate is pretty crappy, maybe on average, less than 15fps.
Unless you are a programmer that can fix the problems. You should try something else. There are some other great games out there. Transport Tycoon and warfare incorporated were my favorites.
I will be releasing an updated version of Pocket Quake soon. I've already remedied the keyboard and display issues. I will post an announcement on these forums when it is available.
Thanks for the help
ok, apologies for barging into the thread with a request but can you add the option to enable/disable the auto-view-centering when you move? i find it really annoying. If there is and I didnt RTFA then apologies.
also could it be possible to remove any hardcoding on the ESC key? particularly to back out of a menu option, i bound the action to DEL but it ignores that in the menus
BTW for other people's info, i play in landscape on the Uni using the keys as a kind of joypad and have added this to my autoexec.cfg
vid_fullscreen_mode "2"
_vid_default_mode "2"
vid_mode "2"
one of these forces it to default to landscape, not sure which but it does the trick!
Are you talking about PQ1, PQ2 or PWolf3D? By auto view centering, are you talking about looking up or down, and then the view returning to the center when you move?
The latest versions allow you to bind any key to TOGGLEMENU, so you can use any key you want to bring up or close menus.
pocketquake 1 i think, will double check and yes, when you're looking up (at someone on a ledge high up for example) and you move (to track the enemy or avoid fire) it brings your view back to horizontal in a misguided attempt to be helpful.
Yeah, that's the default behavior of Quake. Fire up WinQuake or GLQuake and you'll see they do the same thing. I can add a custom variable to disable that though.
Dan
that would be fantastic, thank you very much in advance!
Has anyone tried these versions of quake?

Can anyone pick up where the developer of aDosbox left off? There hasn't been any work on this project in forever and it's truely an awesome application that is pretty close to fully working.
It's open source and is available at http://code.google.com/p/adosbox/
Current need additions and changes:
Correct the Key inputs on the Virtual Keyboard.
Add full 101-key support so that F-keys are emulated and arrow keys.
Add support for controller device configuration (ie, map joystick buttons to keyboard keys as a visual representation on touch screen.)
Audio + Midi support.
Mouse emulation Support in running programs.
Speed Optimizations. (perhaps a compile with GCC to make it faster?)
Anyone think they can take this kind of challenge?
I'd already be working on it if I had enough programming background experience.

Oh man, I'd love to be able to play Master of Orion and Master of Magic (and tons of others I'm sure) on my new Android!
I've already been able to completely get into the Star Control II original PC game. Just can't control the ship once I'm in game. :/ Damned Virtual Keyboard needs correct key support and additional key support.
Able to completely run Dune II on aDosbox. Figured out the mouse support. However still no sound support, and it runs a bit slow. But for a first release and it works without a hitch, that's pretty amazing. Someone really needs to continue the support off the open source code.

question
i installed borland c 3.1 on the dosbox, the problem is i can't find alt key or mouse click key to use it on my HTC Desire, anyone has any idea?
I've only found this thread from the developer.
It's from April 2011 so quite a time ago.
I've posted some comments there for the 0.2x version.
However the dev works on the project, here you can download the last one (curently it's 0.2.5 WGA 480/800 from may 2011).
For some reason:
- the dev has not shown up from that time on xda forum.
- there is no feedback on users comments concerning bugs and other issues
- THERE IS NO HELP FOR MAKING GOOD SETTINGS (ESPECIALLY MOUSE EMULATION AND SO ON) ANYWHERE. EVEN ON THE PROJECT PAGE.
I love this work. I keep thumbs for it.
However the communication sucks.
Oh. And here you've got a link for adosbox for G2/Desire Z.
