Hi,
I've done a search for rear speaker problems, it appears that my speaker is faulty, if I move it a little it starts then stops, I've checked the wiring which seems ok so can only assume the speaker is knackered.
Can anyone point me at a supplier or does anyone have a dead hermes they'd like to donate the speaker out of?
TIA

The speaker on my I-mate appears to have "blown". Sound still comes out of it but it is a bit distorted and the volume is low. When using a plug in heatset the sound is fine; so I do not feel there is an electronic or software problem.
So.... How can I get this fixed? Are there replacement parts available?
Thanks for any help.
btw, I am in the U.S.
How to fix it...
Hi,
I experimented sort of the same problem.
It turned out that it was the speaker connectors because they where not making solid contact with the motherboard. As you can see on the walthrough, the speaker is not soldered to the motherboard, instead HTC used a spring mechanism that conntects the speaker to the motherboard when assembled. Over time, some devices tend to loose this solid contact so the speaker starts to loose it's power and eventually fail. However, there is a way to fix it yourself if you already ran out of warranty and if you like to take things apart...

Re: How to fix speaker problem
This is great Rayan !! I _will_ try it and let you know.
My speaker stopped working full stop a week ago. At least the vibrating mode is fully operational but, of course, this has nothing to do with the speaker's functionality.
A colleague suggested getting a bluetooth headset for operating the phone through it, in case there is no solution to the speaker problem.
I do not know whether anyone tried this alternative but if they have, I would like to know if it worked (just to get a feeling of whether there is a workaround solution too).
Thank you Rayan.
K.
I did it ! Success
i dont know why, but my jam has lost all its sounds after seraching on the forum i m convinced it is a problem with the ear piece but what is confunsing me that when i make a call i can hear the sound clearly but still there is no sound of ring tones or even the mp3 i play...............please tell me i have an alternative to disabssambling it
same problem
I believe i had the same issue.. and what i did wat do a hard reset and it solved the problem...
Perhaps you should try..
Possible causes of sound failure from main speaker are:
1. A2DP patch - there are threads discussing solutions to this problem.
2. Constant plugging/unplugging headset - does sound come out of the headset?
3. A hard bump to the unit causing a loose contact to the speaker terminals.
If the 1st two are not the culprits, then your next option is to hard reset and if that doesn't solve the problem then your last resort is to dismantle and clean the speaker contacts.
thank you guys for your help, i have hard reset the device..............but problem still there i think i will have to disassemble
any ways thank you for your help.............u guys are angels
No sound
I Had no sound from speaker took the top section off which unclips to show the speaker and when i gentley pressed the speaker sound came out of it...Have to get a new speaker. put a tiny piece of foam from an earplug between the case and the speaker for now.It works but not quite as loud as normal.......but it is a fix if yures is the same problem........
it is a hardwar issue not a software
you have to open the phone and check the earpeice first and after that you have to check the thing under the earpeice because it has a connector attached to the board . therefore you have to check the legs of the connector
that is all
hi, i was using i-go navigation software and from one moment to another my rear speaker sound got distorted.
I tried soft-reset annd it still remains that way.
Is my rear speaker broken?
Where can i find one to replace it?
thanks in advance

The push in connector for the rear speaker can work loose. This MAY be your problem. See here (2nd picture - not a major dismantling but just remove rear casing - voids any warranty though):

After dismantling the phone and re-assembling the speaker it was still with distorted sound.
I managed to buy a new one, replaced and it's ok now.
thanks for your help.
Hello, i got a Defy with this issue, i had no sound on the earpiece (i know about the infamous case of faulty earpieces) and no sound on the loudspeaker and neither using the headphones... it could be a software problem? Everything else is working fine, there's no water damage at first sight (i haven't opened the phone yet, to check the motherboard if rust is present)... physically its in excellent condition...
Someone had this problem before? What should I do before doing exhaustive flashing / changing parts? Thank you and sorry for my english.
Hi. I have v20 and my speaker fidnt work.i can hear some noise once in awhile.i open the device and reconnect the speaker.then comnect.and agold piece accidentally broken.my question is if i replace anew microphone it should work?
I don't know it might be the motherboard contacts and not the speaker. Actually I had mine open recently and I slightly broke one of the contacts but not completely so it still works.
The pic you posted does't show the speaker contact pins .That one you see there is for something else, a ground pin or something.
Sure, if the contacts on the mobo are still high enough a speaker replacement would solve the issue. If the speaker is the problem of course - it may be the contacts are not touching the speaker properly.
I would test the speaker before buying a new one with an old earphone cable if you have one. You'd just strip the ends and place them on the speaker contacts while plugged into an audio player and see if you hear anything. Oh btw, strip off the felt grille off the speaker, it sounds way better that way.

My speaker also stopped working a few months ago. I bought a new speaker but it still doesn't work so I summer that something on the motherboard is fried. It may also have been caused by the resurrection I had to pull off using QFIL around the same time. Maybe something firmware-related.
I replace the speaker, but it still doesnt work. I guess because of the gold ribon that broke..is there any way to fix it??
Anyone??
loudspeaker not working - incoming calls not ringing
Did you solve the issue ???
I apparently have the same issue with my chinese refurbished v20
The strange thing is the audio jack for my earphones was not working (but I didn't really care because I don't need it) and now it's working ! ...
