Found one tehnical detail while retieving my steps for the WM6 upgrade.
First, before i started upgrading the XDA Neo G4 to WM6, a friend of mine helped me with unlocking the device (from what i see now CID Unlock and SIM unlock also).
The problem is that, from what i saw, G4 can not be CID unlocked, only SIM unlocked, and my friend used LokiWiz02b which i had found to be normaly used for Wizard devices.
Should that have affected my phone in any way that the GSM signal is now weak or lost?
If it is possible, is there any way we could reverse the process ? (manually or tool )
P.S. I have attached one zip with what i hope to be the program and the backup created (files automatically generated).

I see these ?'s have been asked hundreds of times before, however my proble is a little different.
I have an O2 Xda from the UK that was on the O2 network.
I have moved to Australia and wish to use the device on the Telstra network, but the Xda has been network locked. As my device has an old ROM version i think i need to upgrade first, before running xdaunlock.exe.
Can anyone offer advise?
Cheers
:? :?
You have two possibilities to unlock your phone.
If you got an serial cable to attach your XDA you can use the xda manipulator to unlock it.
In the other case i would suggest you go to www.yorch.net, cook your own rom with the 3.17.03 Rom and use the xdaunlock tool....

just do this simple thing... downlaod xda developers v1.2 and put your xda into the sync cradel with no sim or sd card in then follow it though.......
once done hard reset it....
then it will unlock your device when it starts up
then you can decide to stay on pc2002 or go to pc2003 as your device will not need to be unlocked again
I had a look at the xda-developers v1.2, it would appear my service provider is not on the list (Telstra) will this rom still work or will i have to find a ROM written for the Telstra network?
Cheers :?
the ROM has nothing to do with the operator. It's the RSU version that might not work with your new network. Just get your device unlocked and let's see if it receives the signal or not, then you may have to do RSU upgrade.
Unlock via XDAUnlock?
I have a TMO XDA with ROM4.01.00 and RS6.24.01. I'm selling it and need to unlock it for the buyer.
Is XDAUnlock the path to go?
if i'm not wrong, XDAunlock works only with ROMs with wmodem application and I'm not aware of any wm2003 that has it.
TMO 4.01.00 is available as exe upgrade. just flash your XDA with ROM 3.17 which will unlock your device then reflash back using TMO 4.01.00
good luck
SIM Unlocking
Thanks. Question on the SIM card. All this "unlocking" occurs with the sim card inside? Just to check:
1) With my sim inside, install Yorch's ROM3.17, when asked, unlock phone, finish install.
- Now this means the PDA phone has no phone service, correct? but PDA works?
2) Now install ROM4.01.00, RS6.24.01 with phone unlocked.
3) Remove sim card.
4) Ship to new owner
5) New owner inserts their sim card. Now what? They call their carrier with IMEI #?
Thanks
No, when you put the 3.17 ROM, the phone part should continue working as long as you don't touch the RSU. The SIM has nothing to do with all this stuff. All the locking info is within the GSM firm ware of your device. I would prefer to remove the SIM while flashing the ROM.
If your locked device works now with your SIM, it will definitly work after unlocking BUT it is not a good prove that it's really unlocked. You have to test it with another SIM before shiping to the buyer.
PS: no matter your dial or IMEI is, GSM system deals with a unique identifier for the SIM which called MSISDN. So, don't worry about the buyer

I never realized you could operate the unit without a sim card inside. I guess I'll have to try it and learn along the way. It seems removing the sim card forces a hard reset.
If all the locking info is in the GSM firmware and Yorch 3.17 ROM upgrade doesn't touch the RSU, how does the XDAUnlock operate then?

During the unlock, the 3.17.03 set the phone to a model PW10A. My phone is a PW10B (USA). None of the .exe upgrade software will upgrade unit as they think it's the wrong band. I tried the Bootloader 5.15 - calendar and set the GSM to 900/1800 but model doesn't change in the identify screen. The sim has not been in the phone this whole time.
How do I change the model back to PW10B?
Fixed Wrong Band Problem
I put a ROM 4.0x.xx.nb1 file onto my SD card and using Wallaby Bootloader, flashed the unit's ROM. This appeared to have put the model back to PW10B1. Then I used the ROM4.01.00.exe to finalize the WM2003 upgrade. Phone is sim unlocked. Question:
when does phone become sim unlocked again? i.e. if I was to put my sim back in the phone, and connect to TMO, would that then lock the phone to TMO? Or once it's unlocked, it's unlocked for life? Just curious.
Typo
Should read, "when does phone get sim locked again", not sim unlocked.

The phone will remain unlocked to all networks.
I want to replace my rom, but how can i see my device is cid unlocked. I know it's sim unlocked, but for cid i don't now.
Is there a application to test this?
I just assumed my UK T-Mo Vario was locked so I used the unlocker in Lokiwiz (version b). As I managed to unlock it and flash it afterwards with a Qtek ROM I'm guessing it worked
Just trying to unlock my Exec using the brilliant tool by BuzzDev - I rebooted into serial mode (which changed to USB when I plugged in my USB lead), I ran the flash utility and it stated that it was going to check the device.
After this process finished it said it was going to start, although the previous and new radio versions appeared blank on the PC.
I clicked START and it stated that it had begun and would take around 20 minutes, however after about 10 seconds it said it failed, and that the utility wasnt designed for my device??
So...I rebooted into Pocket PC, ran the 'UNI_Unlock_v1.exe' file on the device and left it - after around 20 seconds it stated SUCCESS!!!
Now I'm confused as to whether or not the unlock actually succeeded? Is there any way to confirm it as I only have an O2 sim card?
Why are you unlocking if you've only got one sim
Did the flash take at all? If you're using Buzz's unlocker, after following the instructions and the 20 mins flashing, you should have radio 0.00.
If you've got to that stage, running the unlocker tool should unlock you. Then reflash with a commercial flash to ensure compatiblity. But the 0.00 is necessary before success.
I can't remember how much error checking we put into the unlocker. If you really don't have access to another sim, PM me and I'll help you out.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I did follow the instructions and the initial flasher did start, but after 20 seconds it claimed it wasn't compatible with my device!? Its an O2 Exec incidently.
However, the small app you run afterwards did state success, therefore is it safe to assume that it did actually work? Would it state success even if the radio didn't flash?
I also tried my Vodafone sim in it afterwards and it worked fine - I've just gone from o2 to Vodafone, I've got the new Hermes, hence the reason for selling the Exec!

Well, if the unlocker worked, and a non-locked sim worked, then it's unlocked right? Strange that you didn't need 0.00 first.
V
Yeah, just a bit - what exactly does the reflash do? And the program following it?
Hold everything one minute? Since when did O2 lock the Exec?
I have seen / used 4 execs so far, bought at varying times, and not one of them is sim locked?
the main benefit of the unlock tool I can see on the exec is to gain SuperCID but as I said, I have yet to see a sim locked O2 XDA Exec?
In which case, brilliant!!! Wish there was a sticky thread summarising this issue clearly, the only thread I found was 65 pages long and rather unclear as to the end solution!
Great news in that case! Thanks CrashOverride!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that myself, I've also got an O2 exec. I think there was a rumour that O2 locked some, but AFAIK the Exec was always unlocked to begin with!

Ive recently got my xda back after getting drunk and breaking the screen now i have it back in my hands (tightly) i want to use it with my vodafone sim card, If i upgrade to WM5 will that unlock my phone or will i still have go through the unlock procedure
Thanks
xdaIIi is called alpine and cant use xdaII roms (called himalaya)
i realised that after posting but i cant move the thread, i figured that it would be the same principal, upgrading the rom, does it unlock the phone.
not even expert on unlocking as i never had a locked phone but i believe
that unlocking is no related with rom updates
(unless ppl have an wallaby device and use the very old specal rom for it)
unlocking is a program run on the pc while the pda is connected or run on the device
what you are to do of those 2 options you should read in XDA-WIKI up in the menu so click there and find your device and see what it says
also flashing ones device with a new rom cant lock ones pda again as far as i know
Hey yall, I am hoping and praying that is someone out there in xda that could help me with my problem. I wanted to install the unlock bootloader on my phone, and I followed all the steps and when I was done everything was working okay except I could not connect to me service provider. I went to my service provider to today and they they changed my sim card thing that it was the problem. Now my phone shows signal when I switch it to GSM but when I try to make a phone call it cuts off..
Has anyone had this issue and if yes how did you fix it ?
Have you ever sim-unlocked your phone? If you have, you need to unlock it again using setool and proceed with bootloader unlocking using the setool.bat, not semc.bat. The same goes if your phone is sim-locked. Unlock it with setool.
If you never sim-unlocked your phone, or it was sim-lock free from the time you bought it, unlock the bootloader with semc.bat.
Now, try unlock the bootloader with semc.bat and see what happens.
Im having a similar problem my x10 have a unlocked boot loader but my phone have a signal problem , the signal is very low
, someone can help me?
Sorry for bad english.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
You may have unlocked your bootloader with the wrong .bat file. What .bat file you used?
