I can't access the messaging app on my Touch.
I received a text message and when I pressed reply in the menu the messaging app did not open. But, everything became very slow (e.g. the start menu did not display until more than 10 seconds after I tap start). I had to soft reset (hold power button down) to resume normal operation.
Now this happens every time I try to access the messaging icon either through the Programs icon or the middle message icon on the HTC Today screen plugin. I checked with Dotfred's task manager and see that when everything gets slow, tmail.exe is using up the cpu. Soft resetting is the only way to get things to work at normal speed again.
How do I get the messaging app to work again?

I have searced but to no avile.
I do use magic button, but I want to be able to close an app without taping the top right corner of the screen, with the ok button.
am I doing something wrong?
also is the best way to null the active sync from auto starting still making a fake server exchange?
Keep stylus on the ok button for a couple of secs, then an icon like a house should appear on your taskbar. Press this for a short while and a menu sholuld appear where you can change the settings to close programs instead of minimize.
or can use smclose which is simpler - just place in windows startup folder voila!

The text entry from my physical keyboard on my XV6800 is SLOW. It seems to hang up when typing a text/email message and also seems that it doesn't show the characters until I hit "space". Text entry is fast and smooth when using the soft keyboard on the screen.
I've tried a hard reset, but that did not help.
Any Ideas?
Are you using a task manager to close programs down tht run in the background?
You know a hard reset from a soft reset, right?
It will do it with about 18 - 23megs of RAM with no other programs running other than those from startup. Sometimes it will type just fine then all of the sudden it will start hanging up. I've also noticed that if I close the slider while it's "hung up", it will instantly display the text i was typing like there was no problem.
I do know the difference between the hard reset (holding both soft keys while simultaneously pressing the reset button) and the soft reset (just pressing the reset button).
I don't know if it's a hardware problem or possibly a software issue. I was planning on updating to a custom ROM to enable GPS and update to WM6.1. Do you know if a ROM update would take care of a software issue if that was in fact what was causing the problem.

I have the same phone, same issue. When I first slide the phone there's a good 3-5 second period where the display of the text lags. I just keep typing and soon all of the characters suddenly appear. I have noticed the same issue while using the Vito SMS-Chat program. The display of text lags right after I slide it open and/or I am receiving a text.

does your screen sometimes display vertical black lines when you are typing on the slide-out keyboard?
i'm in a phone conversation, and someone asks me if I'm available on a certain date, i would want to check my calendar to see if i'm available.
i wanted to do this yesterday but after looking for more then a minute (while the call was open) i gave up.
does anyone know how to do this or even if it is possible???
(so open my calendar during a phone conversation)
pin it to the start menu
push hardware home button. then hit calendar on home screen. hit call hardware button or phone status in task bar on touch screen to get back to dialer screen.
I have the calendar in the start program. Everyone by default also has the "Today" on line one of the start menu, which will minimize the phone, take you to home screen, and allow you to open Tasks (or in your case, calendar). Finally, use the close button (X in upper right) to close the phone. It doesn't disconnect the phone.

thx for the replies guys!
I use Calender SBHC a lot- its great. but everytime i try to get out of it, it closes. is it possible to force it to stay running in the background even if i press the X button in the top right.??
otherwise it takes time to load up each time
Don't close it with the cross, press only the ok the hardware ok button, it will minimize the app. And make the calendar in the taskmanager to an exclusive app, so it will not be automatically closed.
You can allso add it to the exception in the HTC task manager settings.
Start the program, go to settings, system tab, then Task Manager.
Long press on SBHC and click add exclusive .
When I make a phone call and disconnect, the call disconnects but the small icon remains in the top bar. I have the X closes program running (using iLauncher) and have tried Magic Button. The only thing that closes the program is cleanRAM which is a pain to use always. Any suggetions? Thanks.
