Hi everybody
Is there any way ( like Hamachi for pc-s) to connect the UNI via gprs or wifi when on road to my pc,which is on the internet 24/7( wireless internet with an AP,but i'm in a NAT firewall and i have a private static ip ) ?
Hamachi does a great job for PC's,but there is no Hamachi for PPC,or i can not find it.Hamachi is great cause it gives the devices new virtual v6 IP-s,static,recognisable by the Hamachi gateway, server or whatever and it works,LAN over the internet.Sorry for my bad english. Thanks in advance
There is a hamachi for windows mobile.

Does anyone know alternate methods in this case besides hamachi and logmein ?
Is it not working for you? I had some difficulty initially getting a direct connection, but it worked out eventually.

WOW !!! That's awesome ! I just HAVE to try it !
Loved the PC version, now if i can setup a VPN between my PPC and my 2To fileserver at home, it will beat any mobile storage for years to come.
Can't wait to try this, and ace another iPhone owner.

I use openvpn for ppc, it's more of a "pro solution", I use openvpn for lots of different things, works fine. I wouldn't recommend it for non-network admins though.
Is there a way to run Activesync over a VPN, or at least a local network? I think it would be awesome to have automatic remote backups... But I don't know where I'd start.
So, anyone do anything interesting with this?
How about getting a WinMo device to connect to a PC across the country to watch movies off of, or download from your music library?
Get latest Hamachi 2 Beta
check secure logmein labs now. (link available in a previous post)
You have the Beta available for download now (13 Jan 2010 updated).
No, Activesync does not work over IP .
Very interesting.. Now if someone can find or develop TeamViewer on WM it would be perfect

If you want to stick strictly with VNC, go for the new PT Pocket Office.
BTW, I'll publish a BIG roundup & article of all these issues in the near future.

What does exactly happen? When does it refuse to run? Please elaborate - I know everything about all these services and remote access.
i seem to remember reading somewhere that it only works with an unmodified pocket internet explorer. It certainly works on my vario II.

It's indeed faster than other free VNC viewers but still consumes about 3 times more bandwidth than commercial solutions.

bandwidth for me isnt a concern, unlimited data plan plus a 6megx768k dsl line into my house... but do commercial solutions offer the same amount of control as VNC? just curious cause i do run a private FTP server out of my house and like the ability of total remote control over my pc when i am away... i believe i tried logmein.com about 4-5 months ago and dumped it, dont remember why, maybe cause i had to pay, but thats when i found a beta ppc version of RealVNC and have used that ever since.

PT offers built-in file transfer in the latest Pocket Office version and the author also promises clipboard synchronization. It's also much faster and consumes about 3 times less bandwidth.
Hopefully, I'll be able to publish my roundup of all remote access solutions the day after tomorrow - I'm still trying to hack the H/PC .NET RDC client (it's WAY more advanced than the native one on the Pocket PC) to the PPC.

What's exactly the problem? Do NOT trey to use it with RealVNC servers - it won't work. Use PTeSVNC instead.
Also, the config options are a bit overwhelming at first - I'll, of course, elaborate a LOT on them in my forthcoming roundup.

You want to know how to run Windows Vista on Athena? Well, read on!
Firstly, is not really installing the Vista on Athena, i uses the terminal client services to remote control my desktop.
This is the application i use, it's the TCS in WM6, at least 10x better then the original WM5 one. Simply install it and run it, you will have to have knowledge of remote desktop to set this up. I will not try to cover here because there are some ways. Do a search on the net and you will find lots of into.
Below i attach the WM6 TCS and a screen shot of my Vista Ready Athena!
Haha, you got yourself a UMPC now.
That looks Amazing...

Thanks A Lot!
I've done it. And it works really well!
And indeed much better then the WM5 implementation of TCS.

It's never gonna work for me...I'm using XP Home Edition. Home Edition does not support Remote desktop/TCS, even though the application comes with it.
Confirmed by microsoft. It will work with XP Pro though! Might just upgrade it then, but can't remember if that wipes all of my installed apps? Don't fancy re-installing them...way too many.

Hey Wu. Can you or anyone else who has successfully got the WM6 Remote Desktop to work on the Athena please give me some guidance?
1st. Thanks for the link Slave 1.....the web based 'LogMein' works a treat!
Wu..I done a clean install of XP Pro (supports TCS and Remote Desktop) and I installed all necessary components for XP & Remote Desktop. Activated 'Allow users....to Remote Desktop' etc.. My problem is not knowing what to put in the 'Domain' section in the WM6 Remote Desktop application. Is Domain the same as IP? Forgive my ignorance on this...I'm a noob to this..
If it's IP info required for this part, which one? I think I have a static IP address, but am not sure. When I check my IP over the web it is different to what shows up for my PC??!!
I'm confused now. This I believe is my only glitch now. Help please. 'LogMeIn.com' works fine, but it's implementation leaves a lot to be desired and all of you guys seem to really like the WM6 style.
Pointers please.

you don't really need to type in anything in the domain, you can leave it blank, the most important part is the first one, the computer name, you have to type in the IP address of your computer, or your actual computer name if you are connecting on a local network. check your computer IP, and just put it in there, it should work.

As masi0 said, use remote desktop. It looks a bit daunting at first, after using logmein, but it works a treat using pinch-to-zoom.
Logmein has not worked since the latest version of IE was introduced. It used to work and I loved it as a remote client, but RDP is just as good once you're used to it.

Yeah, especially if You have dynamic IP, or/and NAT.
Personally using a weird combination of RDP/RDM+OpenVPN, which allows me to connect through my carrier's restricting proxy to my network with no problems; it's a bit of a hassle to set up though. Guide here.
VPN-wise, I believe Logmein had a beta Hamachi client for Pocket PC long ago, but I'm not sure if it's working anymore, although it seems to be. Should be available here.

IE toggle is a small program to allow the use of the old IE which works with logmein. I am using this on a 6.5 rom with good result but the HTC keypad does not work. The swype keyboard does work however so all is now well. BTW, the IE toggle did not work in the 6.5.5 roms.

If the computer is switched off, then it won't wake it unless it has a specific WOL instruction from the network. Remote Desktop won't do this, no apps would unless you're on the same wifi network, and I've not come across an app for it anyway.
Yes or No? I have remote controller and while it works good, it doesnt recognize the slide keyboard, idk if realvnc or uvnc will, but they're more universal and all my machines already have uvnc on them
Are you talking about a viewer/client or a server on your phone?
RealVNC's website says they have a WM viewer, but there don't seem to be any links to it and it appears to be a commercial product. I don't see any evidence that UltraVNC make a WM viewer.
There are a couple of fully workable free viewers around. Search for vnc-E4_2_7b4-arm_pocketpc_viewer or check out http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/.

Police Scanner for Win Mo?
Ive seen it for both the droid and the (stupid POS) iphone, theres gotta be a scanner for windows mobile, anyone seen anything?
I've been making a couple posts about UltraVNC mobile over at their website, but I doubt any of the developers really have a Windows Mobile phone to mess around with it. I have the RealVNC one, pre-paid-app version. It seems to be the best. I wish UltraVNC did develop a mobile version because I can't view my secondary monitor on the VNC viewer I'm using now.
Also, just as a note, there are VNC servers out there for your phone so you can use a VNC viewer on your PC to control your phone, but I haven't found one that was always stable. This one seems to be the best bet, but now it's a paid-app.

i was able to connect from pc to pc but not wm to pc. host runs on Win 7 with Outpost firewall. I already allow it on my firewall and forwarded those ports on my router. if you or anyone knows the solution, please tell me. thx.
on your windows 7 pc run uvnc server, Not realvnc. It doesnt work idk why. set it up to recieve the user, pass, and to recieve remote input and then connect using wm realvnc. works on all my machines
I found this a while back it seems to work fine just unzip and copy over to your SD card then run the exe. I personally copied it to my programs folder then created a shortcut to in my start menu.

so you can use remote deskop with hamachi ip adresses an this throught firewalls & co.
