I just installed DCD 2.3.2, which to my knowledge is one of the more recent ROMs that supports GPS. Everything works perfectly, until I install some sort of mapping software.
I've re-flashed my ROM about 5 times tonight trying things and I've narrowed it down to when I install something like Live Search or Google Maps.
Once I install the software, they run and when they're trying to acquire a signal from the GPS the unit randomly resets. Once it does this once it does not stop doing it. I'll get back to the home screen after the reboot and 30 seconds later it will restart once again. I even managed to uninstall Live Search the second time before it restarted. It completed the uninstall and lasted a whole 2 minutes before the next restart.
Any ideas??
UPDATE: I'm using titan_radio_3.27.00.exe.
I've also Tried using DCD 2.1.0 Telus, and the same issue happens. The machine just reboots after installing Google maps or Live Search.
I would try re-installing the radio.

Forgot to mention that I've also done that a couple times too. Two different versions too.
Thanks though! Keep the ideas coming.
Sorry to hear that
I just upgraded today and haven't had any problems. DCD 2.3.2 and the radio and everything. I've tried google maps, mapopolis and iGuidance all without any problems-in fact the internal gps is faster by far than my old bluetooth one.
I used the kitchen method to make the dcd rom, but didn't really change anything except for putting windows live back in.
I'm in the vancouver area on Evdo, if that info is helpful.

I hope someone can help me in this issue, I've been looking for a solution and searching the threads for 3 days.
My problem is the GPS is not working even in the official 1.56 ROM, I was previously using Dutty 3.3 ROM.
I've recently bought the HD and I downloaded Dutty 3.3 ROM immediately without even trying the GPS so I don't know if it was working before or not. Then I reverted back to the official 1.56.
I tried "GPS test", "Google maps", "IGO8" and "HTC GPS tool" all of them can find the GPS reciever unit but no one of them can find any statellite
Radios:
in Dutty's ROM radio 1.14.25.24
in the current official ROM 1.13.25.24
And I'm using HSPL 1.56.OliNex
Any help will be very much apperciated
- update quick gps data
- go somewhere that u can see sky clearly
- run GPS program
- first time that u use GPS may take a longer time to find statellites
i use Dutty 3.3 ROM too only first time that GPS program may use a very long time to find statellite

Hello polppol,
Thanks for your reply, but I already tried that, I waited like more than 15 mins in an open area but with no joy..
have u try to re flash radio rom?
maybe try the old one that work for you
the worst thing is that I never tried the GPS before upgrading to the 1.56 ROMs
I'm thinking of downgrading to 1.14 ROMs, however I didn't see anyone else experiencing the same issue so I don't know what's wrong in my device..
maybe you have to with official ROM that came with ur device and try you GPS if it still not work so maybe you have something wrong in ur device
good luck
I have to go now

hi, i also use dutty's 3.3 ROM, i had to wait almost 30 minutes before it detected a first few satellites, after that it went well. Also, please note that it didn't go all smooth for me from first try to get a lock. I tried to do that like 5 times, and at the end it worked. So, be patient, try for 30 minutes, if it doesn't work, try again for next 30 minutes... repeat so a few times. If that won't work, install some other ROM (or ROM version). Just BEFORE testing, MAKE SURE your GPS is detected by your phone and working properly. After that, start to get a lock with your preferred GPS software gl
hey everyone, i'm wondering here if i have broken my gps its on but when i go into google maps there no satellite in the notification bar showing that the gps is work any help please, edit odd i've been messing around with the 2.1 mods out but if i try to go back to 1.5 the gps stops work hmmm odd any idea's??
Hi,
I'm experiencing the same issue. I installed several 2.1 roms, the last one ,the HeroDroid01-signed rom was causing several problems with my Wi-Fi and G-sensor. I restored my Nandroid backup and now I can't get any gps fix within co-pilot google maps, compass etc. I hope installing the orignal RUU rom wil solve this issue.
Cheers,
Stijn
Edit: I have reinstalled the original RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe file and the problem has been solved. It seems the Nandroid backup is causing this issue
Same here, no GPS after 2.1 roms!
At this time not even 1.5 roms detect the GPS anymore!
What the hell happened?
had the same problem. i just reflashed the radio and gps seems to be working again.

if anyone has any ideas im lost at this point.
worst case i have insurance so ill get another new phone but id like to try fixing it.
thanks for the look and ideas..
Did you try a hard reset? That should bring it back for sure.
tried hard reset, wipe device, format sd card, no sd card, even a different sim card and still nothing. i flashed an energy rom which i like n i have flashed to many other hd2's without any issues at all but for whatever reason this one is giving me a hard way to go.
You did update your QuickGPS info after flashing to the different ROM(s), correct? Other than that, are you still using the same radio as you originially were or did you change that when you changed ROM's?
it's a known sense issue, moves from state to state....usually happens when tmobile is updating to hspa+..it'll come back, just give it time .

So. JV5/JV9/JVO builds from kitchen with CF and HC kernels cause soft-reboots on my SGS I9000. I tested all of them by now. Tried the Talon Kernel 0.2.1 with JV5 and JV9, which caused boot-looping.
So I kept reading and found out that I was not the only one having this problem, but it seemed to be solveable by flashing a stock JVO first.
I already had Gingerbread Bootloaders, flashed JVK a while back, so I tried a few no-wipe ROMs as I mentioned above. All with the same problem. I lost connection to my cell network and it didn't come back. Somehow connected to the WiFi, I suppose. I could reproduce it by getting a GPS fix. But that was more or less related to my phone using wireless networks for positioning, which means that it switches on WiFi for just a second but without telling me.
Anyways, I thought I might have been wrong about the bootloaders being the reason to flash the stock firmware, so I did as it said: it specifically said JVO+ in the tutorial, so I went through the hassle and did the following:
- Flash an entire JVO firmware
- Reboot
(that one took a while)
- Full factory reset via dialer code
(that one took a while, too)
- reboot again, this time into bootloader, to flash a hc-speedmod kernel, to have root access and CWM
- reboot again, into CWM, to flash one of the ROMs I tried earlier
I ran back into my old trouble. So this is not an issue of the GB bootloaders or a previously installed version. The phone keeps soft-rebooting.
I re-installed the stock JVO firmware and flashed the speedmod kernel again, rooted via CWM menu and now I am just recovering my important applications via Titanium. Nothing bad happened yet, and it would have, with any of the kitchen ROMs Trust my, I almost tried them all
Nobody else wrote anything on that, so I thought I'd let you know there's no need to wipe all your data (like I did) and hope for the soft-reboots to be gone.
There's something seriously wrong there.
Anybody else having the same issues?
Cheers.
Andreas
Yep, I had a whole lot of trouble with the Kitchen JV5 release yesterday, ended up giving up and goind back to Darky's 10.1. Mine would boot, and when doing a media scan, would soft reset itself. I could get it to work eventually by powering down before media scanner completed then powering up. Bit odd - tried three builds of JV5 with different kernels but they ended up all being screwy. Ah well, will see what JVP brings...
glad to hear that I'm not the only one crazy enough to wipe his entire phone for a new (and fast) operating system.
Anyways... I am now back to my old status. Re-installed most of my apps, sync behavior, BT devices, wireless APs, etc. blayallah...
JVO with a hc speedmod kernel is by far the best and fastest ROM I have run so far.
Kitchen builds are dead to me until some of the people who ran into the same problems as I did confirm that those issues have been dealt with.
Just for your information:
- battery life seems amazing, at least regarding to the sensor. Hope it's any accurate. Had it unplugged over night and lost 22% battery life with WiFi on in a bit more than 10 hours
- it responds VERY fast, compared to any other ROM I had before
- bluetooth devices have to be set up again, for some reason my phone doesn't like my headset any longer. I can hear people talk but they can't hear me. However, the microphone does work when I use my headset for text2speech. Weird.
Anything else seems just the way it was before. Just faster.
I'd be glad to hear if someone could still help me out with the soft-reboots, if somebody else decides to use the kitchen builds either way I won't until somebody else tells me it's working now
Andreas
Why would u need to SOFT reboot ?
I don't *need* to soft-reboot. It just does that. Modem crashes, lost network connection. The phone doesn't actually entirely crash, it just restarts the network service and your phone is going to be offline.
That's a soft-reboot. No entire system crash or kernel panic, just the modem crashing.
That does happen when things are messed up
I'm having the same issue: on a JV5 and JV9 RomKitchen build with a JVO modem, as soon as I get a GPS lock, the phone soft-reboots.

guys, why dont you try the JVP v7 builds, its much better.
also, please select the default boot animation, else it will go into bootloop.
I can confirms that doing a no-wipe upgrade to JVP v7 fixed this soft-reboot issue.
Thank you for that information. I'm not in a flashing mood right now JVO is running just fine right now. Anything about JVP v7 that's worth the try?
JVO is running fine for now. So I'm not feeling like flashing everything over again.
Is there a simple way to just dump my current phone status, its ROM and everything somewhere to my harddrive and re-flash all of that over in case anything goes wrong?

its pretty much the same stuff except very good speed optimizations, 2.3.4, and few UI tweaks.
its been the same since the first gingerbread leaks. we flash it for new builds dont we
...and now it's just pissing me off. JV9 Kitchen Build. On GPS Lock I get soft reboots. What the hell?!
Trying another one now... crap. I thought That would be fixed by now.
So. Kept me busy, just to be sure: Each and every combination I tried using 2.3.3 from the kitchen caused soft-reboots on GPS fix. The phone was very fast with the Talon Kernel and Ext4 FS, but I can't live without GPS
So I tried a non-wipe install over one of the not working 2.3.3 roms.
I'm on JVP now, not as fast as Talon, so it seems, but GPS works, getting a fix at my window within 5-10 seconds, no crashes whatsoever.
So. If anybody else experiences crashes like the ones I mentioned in the opening post, I can also confirm that the JVP ROMs seem to fix the problem.

...as much as I hate talking to myself, it's still regarding the same issue, so I have to ask:
Saw the new kitchen build (JVR).
Two questions:
1. Is the soft-reboot issue finally fixed?
2. Is there a little language-switcher-button on the bottom left of the swype keyboard?
I use the JVO swype, and it has that button, and the new ones don't seem to have it any more? It's really nice if you need to switch between two languages all the time and you don't want to go into settings every time you need to switch.
Anyone know that? http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQC6orm5ZMAju2VzczB3MCbwEPeSH9yrYI6wxfdDGFCvkdpe7lQRg <- that one right here has it. Took me a long time to find that, because no swype version but JVO seems to have that feature.
I'd be glad about any answers to those two questions.

Guess that makes me crazy too
I've also been tinkering with customising ROM's myself to get to the boot-loop - getting pretty proficient at it now (guess I should read up a little more first)
I recently received a new HD2 i the mail (wore out the hard keys on my last one ) and i quickly proceeded to remove winmo ASAP. The same way I've done a thousand times. Android (sense of eclipse) finally boots and every time i try to download an app it says the download has failed. EVERY TIME! I've tried re flashing the rom numerous times, re flashing cwm, magldr, task29 all with the same outcome. I also tried 3 diffferent sd cards and formatted 2 of them. This is a rom that was working fine on my old phone and i even tried a different rom (typhoon cm7) with exactly the same problem. I've had andoid on my phon since the sd days so i'm not really new at all this, but I'm not an expert so if somebody thinks this sounds familiar please help. Thanks for your time.

Hi,
I can't say I've had problems with every downloaded app,but certainly a few.
As you can see from my sig,I'm using the same ROM.
If any app failed to download,I just repeated the process several times, and it evetually took.
The other thing I tried, was switching from wi-fi to data,or vice-versa.Then it worked.
thanks for the reply
I've tried WiFi and on edge. used the WiFi for a long time so i know its not that, and the browsing works fine.hmmm

Hi,
What I meant was,if it didn't download on wi-fi,try downloading it on data.
Unexplained
Ok, so I used winmo for the entire day yesterday. Then this morning I tried flashing android one more time just for the heck of it. For no apparent reason it's working fine, apps downloading and installing perfectly. Now I'm afraid to flash any different roms, worried it might happen again. I did everything the same as always so I'm not sure what was wrong be fore or if it'll happen again. Hmmmm...
It is a common problem. You need to make sure that you set up / login to the gmail account before trying the market. The solution I received is quoted at the bottom of this post.
Here is the solution given to me when I couldn't download from the android market. I went from a working SD Android version to the next version (when the market wouldn't download). The only difference was that I had set up the gmail account then went onto the market with the first version but went straight onto the market with the next version and then logged onto gmail.

To fix it you go into Settings/Applications/manage applications/all and click on the following:
Google Backup Transport - then click clear data
Google Partner Set Up - then click clear data
Google Services Framework - then click clear data
Market - clear data
Reboot the phone, and Market should then work
Make sure you add your gmail account 1st before attempt to use the market

Thanks for your input. I am having trouble figuring out what was wrong and what fixed it. I know that's not the issue here because the I would try apps in "my apps" (meaning I was signed in) in the market and also ones I've never downloaded before. Also maybe its gierbread or just the two roms I was on but I couldn't even open the market till I signed in with Google. I know cause after flashing a million times I was anxious to try the market quickly and forgot to sign in. It would then re direct me to the Google sign in. Strange
