Is there a way to copy or move an entire email with all its links to my SD card or another place on my Touch? I lost some sensitive emails recently because I could not synch them and save them before I performed a hard reset. I have tried to copy the body of the emails and save them in Notes, but the links don't save.

If you change the account type to IMAP instead of POP3 the messages will stay on the server, so you can always have the original.
imap is only a good idea if you have lots of email space on the server.
.. and imap is good if you send emails from different locations (home, work, mobile, etc) and you want to keep your replies/conversations together. that's mainly what it's for, not as a "backup" solution. you'll just waste a lot of email space if you use imap for the wrong purpose.
my solution would be to create a separate email folder and move the emails into this folder and archive, compress, backup..

Sometimes I checked and downloaded complete email with attachment when I was out. Then the same emails would eventually be downloaded from the PC (and thus deleted from the POP server).
And the next time I check mails from the same account, the emails which I had downloaded before would be cleared from the Inbox on PPC. Fine, however as times goes by, I noticed that there are still many files under the folder Attachement which eat up a lot of storage space. Apparently they were not automatically deleted together with the mails.
So, how do I safely remove them? The last time I deleted one of the files under this folder, it screwed up my Inbox on my Xda II -- some phantom emails which refused to be deleted.
When you say delete, are you SURE that they aren't going into the deleted items folder?
I did not delete the mails, they "vanish" during the subsequent checking and downloading mail from the POP3 server. I suppose WM5 must have a reason for clearing these messages from the device as they no longer exist in the POP server. However, I find that when this happens, the attachments are usually left behind.
Here si the fix on the HTC and disappearing emails
1 start/message/click email account/menu/tools/options/tap email account/edit account setup/next/next/next/next/next/download message 3 pls days/advance setting/keep them on server/next/ finish
Do this for all accounts
Now go to your computer and outlook tools/email accounts/view or change email account/next/change/ more settings/advanced/leave copy on server/ how many days is up to you
You must do this for all you accounts on that computer. then do the same to all the computer you use to get the same e-mails.
Quick question.... I searched and didn't find anything on this:
I'm going on vacation and want to keep the Inbox clean on my 8125 by deleting non-critical messages. Is there a way to delete those non-critical messages on the 8125 and NOT have them deleted on the server? I still want them to be in my Outlook Inbox when I return to my desk.
Thanks for your help!
Use POP3 from your Phone or set your exchange accout to auto forward a copy to an external e-mail accoutn and use that.
move the e-mails to a folder "For Follow Up"
I have about 20 sub folders off my main inbox for exchange server 2003. Only the items in my main inbox are counted as items unread on my device. If i have say 4 emails in another folder, it does not show that they are unread unless i click the inbox and switch to that folder. I want to know if i have unread messages in all my folders just from looking at the today screen. Is there a fix for this? Also push mail only seems to work for my main inbox too, not for the subfolders, i have to manually syncronize to get the rest of the messages to download. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Similar problem
I'm not even able to get the email from the other folders on my cell phone. Only email from my inbox comes in - are there any settings I can change for this?
yea. with the mail inbox open go to manage folders, then you can tell it which folders to sync
Is that not because of how outlook works?
I think it's always been like that: It just tells you how many mails you have in your inbox, subfolders are not included...
Hi,
I'd like to configure Windows Mobile to make that the delete mail action in my gmail account archives the mail instead of deleting it.
I've read some post over the web talking about this issue, and giving some solutions, but none of them for Windows Mobile.
In essence, the solution implies to change the "label" that is associated with the delete action, so it must change from "[gmail]/trash" to "[gmail]/All mail" (this is my own interpretation of what I've read, very simplified ), but I don't know how to do this. I've searched the registry and the file system looking for some configuration entries, but I've been unable to find any
Any ideas? Is this possible to do?
(my ppc is a HTC TouchHD, by the way)
thanks
1 of the differences between imap and pop3 is that
imap dont delete the mails
you should try to change to pop3 in your pda
Use the IMAP connection and just move the messages to a folder on your PPC, this will change the tags in your gmail account. Thus moving the email from your Inbox to the folder of your choice.
Hi again,
Thanks Rudegar and Deedee for your replys. (sorry for my delayed answar, but I've been out of home some days)
Rudegar, I've been testing the pop3 access, but I have a problem. I use POP (with MS Outlook) in my main computer, so I always have my mails there and organized as I want (folders, subfolders, filters to delete, move, etc...) This is my main "mail box" and I like it this way 8·). The problem now is that if I download one mail from one pop3 "reader" (be it the PC or the PPC) the other one "loses" the mail. I suppose that gmail marks the mail as downloaded by pop so it is not "served" anymore. This makes the pop option "not an option" 8·(
Deedee, I've been playing a little more with the IMAP folders, and, as you say, I can move the messages to folders. The problem here is that this is not so easy as simply deleting it, and letting gmail to keep it archived. What I want is to be able to delete the messages but to be sure that there are kept safe by google, just in case ;·)...
What I want to do is exactly what is described in this page (http://vjarmy.com/archives/2007/10/tutorial_easy_archiving_for_gmai.php), but I don't know if there is some way to do the same in Windows Mobile
Thansk again for your help 8·)
it's done! well... in fact it has been always done! 8·)
As a nice "side efect" of using a spanish version of Windows Mobile, mails are never marked as "Trash", but as "Elementos eliminados", what, of course, gmail does not understands and treats it as a normal label. So emails are never sent to the trash folder, wich is what I wanted! 8·)
So problem solved! Thanks again for your pattience 8·D

I have the same problem. I want to keep some Emails on my device. It seems to be NOT POSSIBLE.
What app can do this?:fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance for any reaction.:good:
You could use Gmail to sign in and collect your other email accounts. You can create new labels (folders) from your pc in Gmail and sync them to the N7. You can move emails to whatever folder you want and can setup rules to have them go there. Any non-Gmail account is identified with a tag. You can have the retrieved emails deleted from the original server or keep them. I use Gmail to get my Yahoo emails and my ISP account emails. Everything in one app, identified by account. You can also have Gmail use any of the accounts to 'send from'. On the pc in Gmail, hit the menu icon (gear wheel), choose settings, Accounts & Import to add your credentials to retrieve emails from other accounts.
