BT to Wi-Fi route - Networking

Hi all,
So, two devise exist. The first one is WM6 smartphone (hp iPAQ 514). The second is hp h2210. Smartphone has connection to Wi-Fi and works fine. The h2210 has only Bluetooth. Could h2210 connect to smartphone and to go to WAN via Wi-Fi?
The smartphone provides similar feature for connection BT to GPRS/EDGE not Wi-Fi. It works fine.
Could you have some ideas?
PS. Pardon for my broken English.

Hi!
As I understand networks, my problem is routing problem. So, when I will have the route program on the smartphone, the task (BT over Wi-Fi) will do!
Could you know any route program for smartphone?

Use internet explorer / MSN over Bluetooth

Dear all,
I've tried almost everything to make a LAN bluetooth network, but no luck so far.
I've paired up my PDA with my PC, but at the end of the wizard I can't select any services, although I have a bluetooth network connection available in 'network connections'.
Is there some driver I need to install first ? I've heard something about 'PAN' for bluetooth wich is necessary for the use of internet over bluetooth ??
Can anyone help me how to do this ??
Oh yeah, I haven't got a XDA based PDA, but a DELL Axim X50v with windows mobile 2005, but i guess this is a general question wich is valid for all types of PDA's ?
Thanks in advance
the ms bluetooth stack dont support PEN
vidcomm does
or you can just connect to activesync then your pda
have the same network access as your pc unless you have
it disabled that is
I've already found the answer. (finally fieuw)
Now I can synchronize AND surf the internet through Bluetooth !!

Wireless Modem via Bluetooth GPRS

Hey guys,
I got it to work once. But I have no idea how to make my iMate Jam connect to my PC's bluetooth connection using the Wireless Modem application on my Jam. Eveytime I fiddle around with that software it ends up screwing with my radio signal and I lose the signal. Then I have to reboot the phone to make it work again. Does anyone have any instruction on how to work this program? This seems to be so much harder than my P900 which I just used the Dial-up Bluetooth Modem and had it dial *99#. By the way I'm using the standard Windows XP Bluetooth stack with my USB Bluetooth adapter. Please help.
i've the same problem... anyone as a solution?
bt modem tip
On my sx66, i noticed i was having a problem with my modem connection, I noticed it wouldnt let me connect if I had already initiated a gprs session, ie. syncronizing with my excahnge server or pop mail accounts or web browsing on the pda. If i soft booted then connected the dial up connection it worked fine. In some cases i have heard some peoples PC would drop the DUN setting after every sesssion with the PC's BT settings.

This is why it's worth following my blog - I've published a tutorial of this over a month ago. Please read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=510&more=1
Forget the wireless modem application, it's not necessary for this for me.
Go to your PC's bluetooth and open it up. Is et Widcomm? Pair the phone with the PC.
ok, on the PC click on the paired phone and click search for available services. SSA should come up.
Set up a dial up connection with phone no *99# any username, password for your provider and it should connect. PLEASE' Note, you must be DISCONNECTED from GPRS on the phone first to make a connection from your PC.
You may also have to put in an APN on the bluetooth modem in Windows XP, Control Panel, phones and Modem options, as supplied by your provider. First let us know if you get as for as finding SSA?
Surgy, ignore last post, I just saw yin said you are using MS Bluetooth stack.

You can also use the DUN from the MS BT stack too.
Your tutorial only covers the newer devices with WM5. I'm using an older i-Mate Jam/Magician and when I do a discovery with my Bluetooth adapter on my PC I only see OBEX File Transfer, Serial Port, and Voice Gateway. I still can't figure out a way to do it wirelessly. I have figured out how to do it via USB cable and the Wireless Modem program on the Pocket PC but it's only a 28.8 connection whereas usually I connect at 56K with my Sony Ericsson P900. Strange stuff. Well I'll be upgrading to a Jamin shortly so I hope this will resolve my problem.

OIC. Strange. Some (for example, Verizon) PPC PE devices are crippled in that they can't be used as BT modems.
If you can't see the DUN or SSA or Dial Up. it sounds like your Bluetooth has been modified on the imate jam/mini.
Did you install either the Blue Soleil Stack or the new BLUETOOTH STOCK from this forum?.. If so, then this is the problem. Standard default Bluetooth Stack should show it in discovery.
What make is your bluetooth dongle?

I did upgrade it to the new bluetooth stack. I guess it did more harm than good. Is there anyway to undo it or must I hard reset and install everything all over again? I have a Logitech Dinovo Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse combo.

Magician as a bluetooth headset for pc skype???

Hi,
can i use my magician as a bluetooth headset for skype, voipbuster and so on?
I'm using latest bluesoleil stack on my ppc and widcomm stack on pc. On the PC i enabled the bluetooth gateway service but when i search for available services from bluesoleil's bluetooth manager, it cannot discover this one.
Did some of you succeeded in this? Should i use a different bluetooth stack? (i know that there are three different stacks for magician: MS one, bluesoleil and another one i don't remember the name).
Thanks for help,
I will call you @home to thank you if you find a solution (but you'll have to excuse my POOR english)!!!
Bye,
Isidoro
If you just want to use skype, try it this way. Use active sync via blue-tooth or if you have gprs it would be even better. There is a PPC version of skype available. Download and use it.

Thanks but my problem is: i need to use voipbuster since it allows me to call home numbers (like skypeout) but FREE. Voipbuster can be used with any SIP compatible softphone and sjphone is one of them.
Unluckily, sjphone won't work with an activesync passthrough connection (that is: a bluetooth serial port conn to ActiveSync with the latter acting as a proxy to the Internet) since ActiveSync doesn't allow UDP connections.
Then i tried installing bluesoleil stack and creating a PAN connection with my pc (in windows server 2003 i bridged bluetooth and LAN NIC together). Now i can use sjphone but, don't know why, call quality is ORRIBLE!!! Maybe bandwidth is not enough.
Weird thing: when i browse the Web through AS (via bluetooth serial connection) i have a 220-260Kbps throughput, with PAN i can only reach 120Kbps!!! Maybe Bluesoleil stack is not so good or maybe PAN connections have a way greater overhead!!!
Anyway, i've just bought a new MDA Vario (Qtek 9100) WiFi enabled PPC so i hope i'll be able to use sjphone in a decent way.
Thanks for your help,
Bye,

TCP/IP over bluetooth on Chramer

Hi,
I hope I am posting in the right forum, but I didn't find a forum for the Charmer (MDA Compact II) PDA phone. So, I am posting here, because I noticed that there are many threads here about Charmer, but If there is any place where my problem fits better, please inform me about it.
So, is there any way to set up a wireless TCP/IP network between PC and Charmer (obviously, over bluetooth, Charmer doesn't have Wifi)? After 2 days of massive googleing and reading various threads, I figured out that my Charmer shipped with microsoft bt stack, witch is not support PAN. On the Magician, there is a solution, it is possible to replace the bt stack with another one, or expand the functionality (I don't know too much about the technical details) to support PAN. On the Prophet, the problem easily can be solved with Wifi.
But what about the Charmer? I cannot find any working hack to replace the bt stack.
Activesync works over bt, but there is no TCP/IP. If connect through USB cable, TCP/IP network appears.
I'm really disappointed, and plan to sell my 1 week old Charmer because of this problem. Any comments, tips or tricks are welcome.
Thanks in advance
go into my network places, view network connections. you should be able to use the 'bluetooth network connection' to establish a network between the two but ive just tried it on mine and it doesnt work, guess the charmers stack doesnt support it. i know this is the right way to go about doing it as i can set up a network between my pc and laptop.
Yap dave, I did exactly the same, under network connections/bluetooth network connection I cannot add my ppc, becouse it says that it doesn't support PAN. That's why I need to replace the ms bt stack, wich is a garbage. As I figured out the last days, nobody have succesfully did this scenario yet.
Any solution?
I still don't have the solution for replace the BT stack on Charmer which supports PAN.
Any ideas?
When you connect to PC via ActiveSync (via Bluetooth) your ppc got address 192.168.55.101 and pc got address: 192.168.55.100

Pairing magician with 3G mobile phone via bluetooth

Hi,
I've a SE K610i and a magician.
As I am using my K610i for 3G service, I was trying to pair it with my magician. Apparently, i can paired both of the device. However, when I'm trying to initiate the dialing from my magician, it doesn't seems to connect to the phone to dial it. Basically I would like to use my PDA to surf with 3G speed (pairing with the mobile phone) and make normal calls with my magician. Would that be possible?
Is there any guide on how to do it? and also, is it because the standard magician bluetooth software does not support it?
Thanks & Regards,
i also have the similar problem when i want to connect my o2 mini to my K810i for internet connection. My O2 mini does not connect to the mobile phone via bluetooth. Connect by Infrared is working fine. Transferring files via bluetooth is working fine too.
My setting did not have any problem because it working fine with my treo 750.
Anyone can help me?
Are there really nobody in o2 mini anymore? OK, for the one that still with the mini. I have found the problem. When pairing O2mini bluetooth with any other phone which you want it to act as a data modem, just click 'NO' when u being ask 'will you want to add a serial port". You should able to dail after this.
If you replace the microsoft bluetooth stack with the Blue Soleil one (available on these forums) you get a hell of a lot more functionality with the bluetooth, it also adds the PAN facility. I have successfully connected my magician to my K800i and my C905 and both will suft the net perfectly well. You can do the same with the broadcom bluetooth stack on your home pc.
