Spb Backup Problems - Touch Cruise ROM Development

I have SPB BACKUP and a 8 gigas microSD but the pda freezes when backing up to the microSD
ANY SOLUTIONS ?
I have no space enought to back it up to the PDA.

It will ask : should stop all running programs? --> Say no
It will backup things for you

Had the same problem. I removed the program, and reinstalled it.
For now it's working ok.

I had these problems too...
I would suggest using last version of Sprite Backup... it's much much better!!!

I would echo the same advice.
Despite getting past the 'stop all programs' etc.. section, SPB Backup would hang on me.
So I switched to Sprite.
My immediate concern with Sprite was that it didn't support self extracting archives (in case of real failure), but I was wrong. Sprite is stable and works well.

Problem with both
Hi,
I´ve got problems with Srite & SPB backup programs, latest version.
Has anyone ever done a full restore after hardreset?
Sprite and SPB couldn´t restore all files and settings
e.g. - lsoma0000.db (in \windows\lic)
Lost SMS and caller history ...
Any experiences?

you can try this on spb backup
make location my documents and AFTER FINISH move it to memory card
this is temp solotion an its work

SPB seems a little simplistic in my view although it does get the job done.
I ran a backup on a 2.2 ROM of all my apps then reloaded a 1.1 ROM and restored. The device settings showed the 2.2 ROM and Radio stack not the older one's I restored.
For $300 it seems a bit expensive for something that only copies files and registry.
Now,
if it copied partitions, ROMs, data, files and Registry then *that* would be worth $300

Unable to fully delete program....why?

Ok here's the thing, I downloaded and installed a program from "Skyscape" but couldn't get it working successfully and now can't seem to fully "get rid of it".
Everytime I connect to PC a window briefly pops up (I think its something looking for updates) and everytime I explore my Storage Card through my PC I can see the following folder "Skyscape_Backup".
Everytime I delete it and everytime I plug back in its there again :?
Please Help...
What can I do?
Cheers for any assistance,
marto
How are you deleting it?
Have you used add/remove programs?
After that, check your windows\start up folder and also the program folder it might have been installed in on your device.
If it's still there, it might be a service. Use SKTools to clear that kind of rubbish. Backup first though, danger will robinson, destroy all operating systems...
V
Yep tried "remove programs" which now no longer lists the problem program, also tried deleting through PC. Can't see anything which has the same sort of name in "windows" and "startup" except maybe (and thats a big maybe) ssdeviceid application.
Can't see anything in my book about SKTools I assume its a download?
Will have a search through the forum database and so on
Thanks for your input V.
Yep, sktools is a download.
Is the window that's popping up on the pc or the pda? You didn't state I think.
Also, check in activesync. beneath where it shows all the syncing progress, does it show anything related to skyscape there?
V
Sorry for the delay V (was trying to figure out how to do screen shots)
Yep the popup is at the PC's end.
I installed SKTools it looks pretty dangerous... is there any particular function from it I should be using?
Cheers, marto

Oops forgot to mention "no" nothing seen in ActiveSync.
Yep, don't worry about sk tools. I thought it made sense that the program was on your pc.
Have you removed the program from your PC?Again, use add/remove programs on pc to remove all trace, then check this program: Autoruns
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html
Check each tab for possible entries. the program obviously tries to sync itself with the PDA everytime. I hate programs that are so misbehaved and think they know better.
For the PDA, backup often so you can always go back to a clean-ish setup.
V
Hmm no success looking with Auotruns, and nothing in "Add/remove".
Was thinking while crashed out on the sofa that I might try to install it all again then uninstall it in a more stable way (I think I may have done it a bit all over the place) otherwise might blast off an email to there support....
Another day more time to play... :lol:

Backup Manager

Hello all,
Has anyone here used sunnysoft backup mananger 3.7 to backup and restore a whole machine?
What I mean by that is, install backup manager, backup the machine, hard reset it so all data is gone, then install backup manager and restore everything so it is as before the hard reset.
Any info would be great
Use the search facility and you should find a fair few threads!
Yes, I have, nothing sprung out at me, why did you think I started this thread.
If you know of the thread, why not post it here?
Well there was this one!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33688&highlight=sunnysoft+backup
Why dont you try it yourself and post your results!
I arent keen on the sunnysoft as explained in the previous thread!

I have, it even worked after a ROM upgrade, only drawback (did not bother me though) is losing all messeges.
Otherwize its perfect.
Sunnysoft backup manager
Works very good even after complete crash EXCEPT PIM !!!
I mean:contact,calendar etc
For these you'll need to synchronize again
Other small things not included in the backup:
- voice tags
-Speed dial
- Mobimate configuration
Thanks all, yeah saw that post didn't realy specify the situation of the restore, that is why I was a little more specific.
They have v.3.7 on their website. is that what everone here was using?
Yep it works great...

Hi
can someone that uses the Sunnysoft Backup confirm if this software works properly on the Xda Exec.
What I mean does it back up the system properly and then restores it propely.
I need an back up software so I can back up everything in my Xda Exec in case of any problems that I need to hard rest the pda so I can restore it back with all my software as it was.
Thank you.
Ciao

My question is totally unrelated. I don't have Sunny Soft backup software installed at the moment. I am waiting to purchase another SD card before I start reinstalling everything. But here is my question: How do you enable the automatic backup option? It seemed to me that all it have is a manual backup option.

Yes the restore is working perfectly,once again except the PIM stuff:calendar,contacts,tasks
But those can be restored from Activesync.
They are a few minor things that are not restored even by Activesync:
- voice tags
- speed dials
- Mobimate basic config.
About backuping the PIM itself there is a thread of Buzz how to do it without using Activesync:just find the file PIM.(something) and copy this file to SD
On Hofo there is a thread on a beta from Sprite, some issues with it still, but works better already than Sunnysoft.

Phone program wasting memory with multiple instances

Has anyone else had this problem??

This happens all the time and the only way to fix it is a soft-reset. I haven't really been able to find the cause. The OS will eventually give a Memory Critically Low Warning, too, and will have 3 or 4 instances of the Phone app.
Running the stock T-Mobile Wing Rom. Have others experienced this? Is flashing a Custom Rom with updated WM the answer?
I have the same problem, but I just kill the phone app with process manager. Phone, Tmail, and Poutlook are the worst memory hogs, but I need them. Is there a rom out there similar to the stock one that can fix these?
If you are not to sure about flashing a ROM then
If you dont use myFaves, then install the following .Delete MyFaves
It eliminates the myfaves shortcut from startup and hence loading it in memory. I have not seen the "Memory Critically Low" problem since then and I dont have to reboot the phone 3-4 days after normal use (messaging, mail, calendar, calls)
If you are comfortable with flashing, try Aserg's rom. Its awesome. Skype used to make my phone crawl. With his ROM, I can multitask with Skype running.
If Your Worried About The Mem Hogs You Can Flash To A Custom Rom I Have Never Encountered That Problem Afterwards
Plus The Stock Rom Is Garbage Anyways
(dont Mind The Caps)
I have 20mb of free ram on the stock rom, with Quick menu, SPB Mobile shell, and Skype running. I haven't seen a critical memory message since december, so I guess it's not quite the same problem... It just annoys me that the phone and mail apps take so much memory. I just haven't found a rom that is similar enough to the stock one, or learned enough about wm6 to write my own, yet.
Chris, goto \windows\ and make a \startupdisabled folder. Then move everything except what you use (like s2u2 etc...) from \windows\startup to \windows\startupdisabled. Then memory will just be a nusance, not a critical error.

Trying to do a clear up and organise un-needed files on my Phone & my SD-Card

What is the best way to roganise my phone?
I plug in my phone and all i see are folder's after folder's and file's after file's
totally, unorganised it looks a complete mess and to be honest i dont even know what most of the files are for as well as folders.
102 items in the root of my phone & Sd-Card, am trying to tidy it up,
I want all my music in a Music folder as apposed to 3 which I have Music, Music Junk & Music_online , its really unorganised. Photo's and Video's need to be organised as well.
So i have applications that create folders in the root. , can i not add a folder called Applications, and then the apps will create folders in their or somthing?
Anybody got any idea's and will i be ok to delete most of these folders and files?
Thanks
I too find it a complete mess, although I have organised my media folder. Here's what mine looks like right now...

Thanks for the reply, I had a LOT more than that in my list haha, so what i decided to do was just backup my music / photos / apps (.apk) / video's and format my card, then place the backup back .
looks alot tidyier now =D

I've rooted mine so think some of what's on there will be needed, so I'll just have to put up with it. I've had to flash it 5 or 6 times already by tinkering, only had it a week too lol.

[Q] What's installed & how do I update it?

Hello
My girlfriend borrowed her dads HD2, and now it stopped working. She talked to him and most likely it requires an update of Android.
I'm usually pretty tech-savvy, but the language spoken on this forum is beyond my comprehension.
So, I have a HD2 with both win & Android installed. To boot into Android i need to go into windows and press two files on the SD-card: "CLRCAD" & "HARET".
The files look like this in Windows (pc):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Her dad mentioned Boxmax 6.5, so I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100560
The files I downloaded from there looks pretty similar, aside from a few additions on the phone.
Downloaded the SD-one, but now i'm lost.
How do I update the phone? Just overwrite the files with the new ones or clean install? If it's a clean install, how do i do it? Do i need to backup something?
Backup all files on the SD card to a safe place (pc).
Delete folder Android on the card.
Copy the Android folder from the archive you downloaded.
Pop the SD card back into HD2, and start Android from winMo (clrcad, haret) or better yet install the exceller autoboot.
Thanks alot, sounds easy enough
When i pop the things back on the SD-card from the backup-folder, I still need to install all the apps and widgets again right?
Edit: Oh, and what about all her messages? Are they stored on the phone?

Yeah, you usually use titanium backup, heh.
sent from my phone using my fingers
Thanks so far for all the help, I got it working fine except, and this might be a really n00bish question, how do I turn off the phone?
Nevermind, found Quickboot
