Hello people... I'm a unlucky guy who bought a alignment trouble hermes... 200...
So... I've fixed the alignment problem, first, putting a little piece of card (the sim card rest), after oppening it, and putting some doubled-face ribbon, as shown in other thread here.
After it, I had to buy one new screen, because I've [email protected]$%$%$#@#ed the botton connection on the screen, whit the fu#$%#%@%#ing piece of card. . Its life. Some wins, some losts...
I'll try to fix the blank screen now, and I believe I'll have some success, but... Until now, I've done a lot of things, and my housing is completely broked.
Do you guys know what king of housing can I put in this hermes? I've found a lot of housings, but they seams to be diferents. My Hermes is like the one in the first page of this forum (this one). It could be a little idiot, but I'd like to find it black too.
They seams to be diferent of this one.
Can I use any? The d-pad seams to be diferent.
Thanks,
hey i dont know if you still need this info, but the differances ie. D-pad buttons ect all should be cosmetic should not matter at all you can make any Hermes housing work the only exception would be a housing/phone that is a at&t 8525 cingular/at&t left the vga cammera off so that housing would not have the hole for the camera on the front and that phone would not need the hole from another housing

hi everybody.
some weeks ago i bought a new casing for my trinity on ebay. as I had to open my trinity while on a long trip far away from home and htc tech support (the "hang up" button broke), i had already broken my guarantee. so i decided to change the casing myself. i managed to do that (it was not easy!!) and closed the casing and everything was alright, but some days later trinity started to have graphics issues. sometimes it hangs and the display gets kind of scrambled, when i reset it it posssibly doesn't show anything on the screen or it hangs during the boot, sometimes it helps simply shutting the device down and restarting, sometimes it helps pressing the left side of the casing (front and back casing elements) together.
what can that be? at the moment it works alright, but this is not ok for me. somebody with hardware know-how can tell me which part can be the "bad one" and what i can do to fix that? i don't want to pay the repair fee at htc tech partner, and i want to wait till the htc touch cruise is available to buy a new one!
thanks

Hi, I did similar thing...I assembled my trinity to change case to white. After the LCD did not work at all.
Of course service said, I broked garantee, and there is some problem with LCD cable plug.
what did the repair cost?
did you go to HTC? did they change the display plug?
it's a very subtle error in my case...
How To Disassemble HTC P3600
I also want to change my casing.
From what I hear ... this may be not such a good idea.
Hoever ... all I can help with is this disassemble manual for HTC P3600 (http://rapidshare.com/files/82751326/How_To_Disassemble_HTC_P3600__Trinity_.pdf.html).
Maybe disassembling, cleaning all the plugs and assembling it again can help (sounds stupid ... but who knows).
thanks ..
one of the problems with the casing i bought was that the metal counterparts of the screws were not(!) present in the new one. so i had to cut them out of the old one, heat them and press them into the new case. luckily, i had ordered two new casings (to change it again after some months when the grey/silver paint would have fell off till total aesthetic destruction - of this otherwise really slick phone - again), because trying to press that counterpart (don't know the word) without heating resulted in total damage
then I had hoped that not only the keypad, but also the electronics plate under the keypad (my "hang up" button still isn't perfect i have no "klicky" feel any more) would be included. no luck here.
so everybody please stay away from trying to change casings or any other hardware issue with your htc phones. i am opening my htc/qtek (before: s100, three units) phones for a longer time now and must say i will stop doing that and return to being a "normal" user. it all gets worse
thanks
I just remembered ... take a look at this site: http://cnn.cn/shop/p3600-trinity-c-277_278.html
All the stuff looks genuine ... maybe this casing will fit you better and there are spare touch screens also.
P.S. White casing DOES NOT peel.

I went to E-care, the HTC support in Hungary. I was lucky, the expert repaired it free, but in the future there is no garantee
Lucky you ... there is HTC support where you live
my LCD screen broke.
I have replaced my LCD screen because it was cracked, the new screen does not even power up. I can hear wm6 running in the background but the digitizer nor the screen seem to be responding at all. If use the old screen it seems to work fine.
Any ideas or comments on how to get this new screen working?
btw, I have a gen1 htc p3600.

Always glad to help
First, I would like to say ello!!!
Anyway ^.^ I recently aquired a Cingular branded HTC 8125, and was wondering if anyone had a good disassembly guide(or even a bad one really) for it. The one I got has a few.... bugs. Some of which I should be able to fix... Some of which... Well ^.^'
Actually isnt the first PDA type device I've opened up... I even have the nessary tools within reach atm ^.^'' Just always nicer to know where the delicate ribon cables, or randomly held together by plastic tabs/glue spots are when going into something like this...
Anyway. Oi!
check out the service manual available from the wiki it gots the disassembaly guide its preety straight forward nothing hard to it just make sure u dont lose the screws and dont break the tabs.
Thanks, didn't notice it there.
Just a note that should probably go up somewhere, the Cingular 8125 has a slight variance to its disassembly when you get to removing the main PCB, it has a sqrew holding it down near the middle of the board that the version of the wizard that document was for lacks.
Other than that very educational. And got rid of the horrible screen corruption when the face plate buttons are pressed. Completely. ^.^' Stupid loose ribbon cables.
Hi,
I got my 8525 secondhand off ebay, and I'm having problems with it. I did a clear storage or a reset of sort, and I'm stuck in loop of screen alignings. Originally, before I did the reset, the touch screen does not respond when I tap on the top right, and the screen alignment loop was also there when I chose to align screen and I had to take out the battery to fix it. I notice small pieces of cardboard stuck in between the side of the lcd and casing so would that be the problem here? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Sounds like the digitizer is stuffed... You may have to replace the LCD.
You can get them off EBay for $70AUD and there is a Service Manual so you can open and fix yourself. Here - http://michael-channon.spaces.live....ner=1&partqs=cat=Download+HTC+Service+Manuals
Its not too hard but you will need a small flat blde screwdriver, a small phillips head and a size 6 torque key.
All the best of luck,
Cheers...
Thanks Ultramag
I did a bit of research, and I came across this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405432
It seems we both have a similar problem. Would the software method work for my case? I want to avoid dismantling the hardware if possible.
Thanks again.
Yes and no. You need another Hermes (same model) to get the alignment settings from and this is only to get the phone operational so you can use it. It WON'T fix the touchscreen, Its just a stopgap measure until you replace the faulty LCD.
I was lucky as I have a few friends who I sorta got into the hermes who I could get the settings off. You can navigate around your hermes without th touchscreen but its a REAL *****. Bought a couple of Jasjams off the net and was lucky enough that BOTH worked. Still put my mainboard into 1 and gave the other to a friend who was having similar issues...
Hope that helps...
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it.
Hi there,
Maybe someone can explain me, where is the hermes's slide indicator (or.. I don't the correct term, sorry for my bad English). My friend gave me his phone, after he was trying to change phone's cover to original htc tytn cover (of course, top part of the case did not fit on that hermes, but bottom case fit's ok). And after he assembled all parts - phone did not recognize when you are sliding the keyboard, and the screen is not turning to landscape position.
And now I want to fix it for myself, ant had tried to search where is that indicator, which 'sees' when you slide the phone. And when I disassembled - I just cant identify that thing. Only one place in my inexperienced eye is suspicious - http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/8708/dscf7321.jpg this place, in other side of LCD, where the hinges(?) is placed. But I can't understand, how its working (I have other HTC TYTN, but it's under warranty, so I cant dissasembly it to try use other parts, o smth..).
So, I would be grateful if someone could lead me to the right road' to fix this problem... if it's possible.
Thanks,
Laimis.
Yes your friend forgot to move the screen orientation magnet from the old case to the new one!! New cases do not have the magnet attached you have to move it from the old case.
See here:

.... so let's hope he didn't throw away the old case!!

Thank you, Mike!
you were right there is no magnet on the new case, so now I will wait until my friend will send me an old case.
God luck!
... good luck to you
Hi all, my Hermes/JasJam LCD screen and front panel stopped working a while back with the whiting out issue, funny artifacts and non working buttons. I have pulled it apart quite a few times to make temporary solutions but none have lasted enough.
So now I'm looking to buy a used Hermes and jack the screen part off it and place it on mine. Now I know how to do this but what came to my mind was:
Buy the newer version of the Hermes and place it's front part on my old jasjam which would be like a mixed/modded Hermes.
So I saw the O2 Zinc and the TyTN II and i really like the front panels better than the original hermes ones. So, before I buy one of them, does someone know if the ribbon cable is the same as the original one that connects to the phone's mainboard?
Any help much appreciated!
