Hy all,
I was frustrated for some time with the inaccuracies of POI in IGO maps and files. Some are old and nonexistent and so on.
As I know there are 2 places where POIs are located: IGO.db (sqlite3 database) and IGO map itself. If you try to open IGO.db, the content of the POIs table is encripted in some way. Now, I've seen there is at least one software, IGO Poi Explorer which bypases this encryption.
Before I get to hardwork myself, does someone knows how to decrypt the info inside the tables of igo.db?
Also another question, do you have any idea if the POIs inside the map file can be read/edit programatically. The map is a fbl file and to be honest I don't know with what to open
Many thanks guys
Hy, I got to programatically edit the contents of POI in the igo.db, but any idea related to the poi's in the .fbl file?
just use IGO 8

I have down loaded the airfields UK poi and these have transfered to my XDA II with no problems apart from their being no icon in the poi menu, only the file name. All the poi are in the database but I can get no vissual reference on the screen i.e no icon, any ideas? I did down load the file with the "down load immage" box checked.????????? I am using the the poi program from http://www.dnote.nl/ and the points of interest from the pocket gps web site http://www.pocketgps.co.uk
There should be a .bmp picture file with the same name as the POI, so if the POI file was called - airports.ov2, he Image file will be called airports.bmp
Thanks.
I copied a .bmp file and re-naimed it to give me Airfields_UK.bmp that then linked it with the Airfields_UK.OV2 file and hey presto I now have the icons.
It did happen to me some weeks ago.
My mistake was to copy the file to my SD card instead of going though the software menus to do that. I guess something needs to be done in addition to a simple copy and paste.
I followed the manual instruction by the book and it worked for me.
But my POI / Tom Tom is king of down for the moment so I can't reproduce it exactly.

I am looking for this POI, and went to pocket gps world site and couldnt see the airfields poi there. Any change you could post it on rapidshare or some other and send us a link... or even email to me if you feel so inclined. Many thanks. Matt
Hi,
I just installed the POI patch and I see some more POI's on the map, but not all.
I have +- 30 POI's in the map directory on my SD card, but they don't appear in the list.
It's strange cause it's always both files : .ov2 & the picture file.
Does anyone had the same problem? Is there a sort of maximum POI's that you can put on a map? And why don't I see the others in the list then so that i can check/uncheck them ?
Thanks guys!
in TT5 there is a limit of 38 POI's AFAIK
TT3 does not have this limit
I asked the same the last week, and it certainly has this limit.
The best i could do was have the poi's that matter the most to me (speed cams, food, petrol, motorway service stations etc) and I put a folder in my Great Britain folder called "Unlisted POI" with all the others in there.
Then at least if im miles away from home i can move poi's around as i need them, not ideal but it's the only thing i can think of, as a folder in the great britain folder with pois is ignored by tomtom.
Hope this helps
Adam

The patch fixes TTN5 crashing on certain PDA's with any POIs enabled.
Hi All,
I have been using the new version of TomTom and as some of you may know there is an option to use Navigate To... Picture.
Now here is my Problem: When I take a picture in GPS Mode. (After enabling it in Advanced Config), the photo get's saved in \Internal Storage\My Documents\My Pictures\My POI
However TomTom only picks up photos that are stored in a root folder of the storage card called GEO-PHOTOS.
Is there some way you can change the default location of photos taken in GPS mode to be saved in this Folder? Otherwise you need to always move the pictures around!?
I assume there is a registry entry somewhere but I haven't found it yet. Will keep looking.
Or can you change TomTom to pick it up from a different folder? (I am using TomTom v7.915)
I think this would be useful for a lot of people
Okay I found the registry value.
But all it lets me change is the Folder name within My Pictures, but not the actual location of the folder.
I just seaarched for "My Poi" in the registry editor.
Anyone has an idea how to do this
I'm just going out on a limb here but on Windows sometimes the program confuses links and actual folders. Therefore, you could try copying the folder where your images are stored and paste a shortcut to that folder in the root of your storage. Then rename the shortcut to the name that TomTom wants.
It might help/work
Cheers I'll give that a try.
Is anyone else finding that the location embedded in GPS photos taken on these phones is consistently about 10 miles to the east of the actual location? I've Googled it and it is a problem that affects a number of HTC phones, but I can't find a solution...

Haven't checked that
.
Tried to fool TomTom into using a link to the My POI folder (in My Documents) but that didn't work.
Anyone else has another idea?
I will try telling Windows to save the gps photo in a link to the root TomTom folder: GEO-PHOTOS rather than in the My POI Folder. will let you know tomorrow
My HKLM/Software/HTC/NaviSW only has (Default), BTMsgState, BTName, MovieState, TaskBarShift and TwoFingerEvent as strings.
I can't see anything in this lot that could possibly load and run any navigation software and my NaviPanel certainly won't load my TomTom navigator software (ApplicationVersion 7917).
TomTom runs just fine normally on my HD2 but won't load through NaviPanel which has only 'Make a Call' available - all the other icons are grayed out...
Any idea on how I get NaviPanel to load and use TomTom?
Thanks.
KennyD
your first post not searched the forum? the answer is around
type tomtom and navipanel in the search and it comes up just like it did for me.
Yep, I've spent a chunk of today searching through this entire forum - but just can't figure out how to get NaviPanel to run my TomTom.
I found a copy of the dll "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" and dumped that into my \Windows folder (I didn't have any NaviSW dlls there at all) and I created a new registry string named "MiddleLayerDLL" and gave it the value "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" and soft-reset my HD 2 twice for good measure.
Still nudda. Zip. Zilch. I load NaviPanel and still just get the Phone icon available and all the others are grayed out. No error messages, nothing. Just grayed icons for all the rest. My TomTom is loaded onto my SD card and works perfectly from its own .lnk...
Is there a particular version of the "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" file I need? I just located the only one I could find on the web and downloaded that.
While I can happily registry edit, editing dll files is a little beyond me.
What am I missing that prevents NaviPanel from loading TomTom?
KennyD
think the problem is the same for any navi program other then copilot.
look e.g. here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641756
this is about iGO but idea is the same it gives a complete solition for TomTom also
I has asked HTC Tech Support and they told me that Navipanel would work ONLY with CoPilot. So this is it unless someone comes with a work-around solution
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!
Finally got cooperation out of NaviPanel!
For those still searching -> try the link at //forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5789366&postcount=9
I edited the new Config.ini file sitting in the new CoPilot folder to include "Storage Card/" in the pathway before "Program Files/Navigator/TomTom Navigator.exe" and it is now happily functional! (This cured the "-2147479552" error...)
You can have TomTom installed on an SD card and this CoPilot work-around will get NaviPanel to cooperate!
Finally got there! Phew!

I have a HD2, that came with a 15 day trial of CoPilot.
I want to use footprints but I don't want to pruchase CoPilot, when I click on the co-ordinates or address in Footprints it tries to open CoPilot, is there a way to get it to search the co-ordinates in google maps or orange maps?
Warning: if you try the following solution, you'll have disfunctions on your navipanel
for google maps the solution is very simple: just rename or cancel the folder CoPilot on internal memory of your HD2, or cancel the .exe of copilot inside this folder (splashscreen.exe too)
Or you can achieve the same results with a registry mod in HKLM\Software\Htc\Navisw
there's a key named SDKModule...just cancel or rename the entry (the default is \Windows\alksdk.dll)
choose the way you prefer
can u explain this detailed pls. is there a way to auto transfer coordinates from footprints to igo or other gps software.
any ideas how to transform the coordinates???
I managed to launch iGO8 with footprints, but that's all..It's just launching the igo application, but is not making a route to my footprint coordinates.I don't think this is possible.Igo must have a script to know that it has some coordinates to load. Hopefully HTC will release a .dll or something for other gps software then CoPilot or GoogleMaps.
All the best

hope to be fastly done, actually footprint is so nice application but without coordinate transfer it becomes almost totally useless.
i hope that problem to be solved.
meanwhile copilot looks like a kid toy in respect to igo, so its nonsense to use footprint only with copilot ...
