Does any one know a way to make a shortcut to display the Start Menu (like clicking Start) or the Programs folder (like clicking click Start -> Programs)? The shortcut must point to a file and cannot point to a folder. I'm hoping that there is some prog file to do that, very much like the way ctlpnl.exe displays Control Panel.
I need it very much. Any help will be strongly appreciated.
Thanks.

HTC Home's folderview.exe opens up the Start Menu Programs view. It should be somewhere on these forums, or you can extract a cab for HTC Home and grab the folderview.exe
@Azimuth21: Gracias. 谢谢. Merci. Thank you. That is precisely what I'm looking for!!!
@doedoe: I know I'm not an expert but I'm not too n00b to know how to create link files. I was asking about something very specific and I have done enough search both on and off the forum to be confident that there is no way other than luck to find the answer for my question without knowing about folderview.exe. And what do you mean by:

Hi all,
Is it possible to create a shortcut to a midlet? I would like to create a shortcut with PHM Traylaunch but can't find the midlet file paths. Where are the midlets located? I plan to create one for Opera Mini and one for Google Maps. Thanks.
Killabee44
I would also like to know if there's a way to do this.
Just create a shortcut to jmm.exe in the \windows directory.
That brings up a screen with the installed midlets (see attached SS)
Cheers

or to specific midlets... (btw, this thread pops up when you do a search for 'midlet shortcut'):

Thanks a lot Hrb and Zeboxx. That link you put up zeboxx is exactly what I need. Shame on me. I should have found it by searching. I guess I used the wrong keywords. I appreciate the info.

Not sure if THIS POST will help, but it gives the command lines for pretty much every Control Panel entry (i.e. everything under Start | Settings)....
There is a link to the today screen which you should be able to use in a shortcut on one of your menus....
HTH,
Mark.

Read the wiki maybe you find answers:

Unfortuantely, the "Today" item there is for opening up the Today Screen Settings. I was trying to find such a "shortcut" myself a while back, and never did come up with anything. At this point, I think it can only be done programmatically, by "minimizing all running apps". I haven't looked, but there's probably a pretty simple Windows API call for that.
Similar to what a couple of other suggestions here have been, there is probably some alternative that you can use to get to the Today Screen easily. I use Wisbar Lite, and as such, I lose the Double Click the Windows Button, and simple Menu->Today features. But I found I can configure Wisbar Lite to give me pretty easy access. I also believe it was SPB Pocket Plus that gave me link that I use to program my PPT button to go to the Today Screen on a quick press. Don't know where exactly, that link really is, so I can't investigate how it's actuially done.
Maybe some of the above will help you?

Guys thanks for all the suggestions and links...
i have done something else and its so good now...
@Mark Crouch thanks for the link, i am sure those short cuts are pretty handy..
@jlopez0978 reading wiki did not help .. i usually go there first before i post
SO this is what i did...
there is a program from " CHRIS" of the lakebridgesoftware forum
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11394&page=3
see the post no. 29......
this program will toogle to the desktop... and its graphics are good like htc touch......
i made a link to this program to one of the hardware button( PTT) and now i can toggle to desktop with one key press

Good find!!!
I've installed it on my Hermes now too - you're right, it works great!!!

Mark.

How about trying the winmo aliases, can't find a list of em at the mo, but : DEFBROWSER and the like. (without the space, stupid smilies)
Then the paths have defined shortcuts but I can't find a list of those either (I'd best go to bed too tired, before I fail to find that as well) something like CE% points to /windows etc.

Hi there and thanks for this tips!
I've got an application saved on my memory card, any idea how to specify the link to be able to start the app?
Thanks
Stefan
Hi again,
Having tested a bit more I realised there is one more basic thing I don't get to work besides figuring out the right path to the memory card.
I have an application that I have developed myself. The application can be started by going browsing for the file in the file explorer, and then clicking it. the question then is; How do I then make a link in my html-panel to start the application?
I thought I could use the links like above, but exchange the name of the application to the file-path? This seems to work for my installed applications, e.g. Xperia Tweak can be started by with:
XperiaTweak
Click to collapse
But my own application can not be started with:
VOR applikation
Click to collapse
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Or are there alternative ways of starting up my application?

Stefan
Hi there,
I'm building my own panel and get stuck with some links that are on my memory-card.
I want to link to G-Alarm wich is on \Opslagkaart\Programmabestanden\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe (yeah, that's Dutch), but the link to
extended://app:start?app=\Opslagkaart\Programmabestanden\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe
Click to collapse
doesn't work. I get a . NET CF initialising error. Strange because I can open these from the Start menu. Same goes for moBlog:
extended://app:start?app=\Opslagkaart\Programmabestanden\moBlog\moBlog.exe
Click to collapse
And does someone know where to link to if I want to start the MSN chat, the Calculator and the Notes?
When I've taken care of these little issues, I'll share my panel here. Thanks in advance!

Anyone Know any more?...
Hi gys, been working on a HTML panel and cant find out the following info.
I'm sure all the exe's have additional args, is there anywhere that has them all together.
one im looking for is for the tmail.exe so i can show sms when i click on the image.
i have at the moment
Code:
a href="extended://app:start?app=tmail.exe" img src="email.bmp" alt="email"></a>
this will open the mail app but not automatically select the email screen.
Anyone know the right arguments?
It's really annoying that this isnt held centrally somewhere, sony need to get in gear, lol!
Opening a .lnk file
Hi guys / gals,
i have a two .lnk file in windows folder that will allow me to create a new text msg and allow me to go to sms view in tmail.exe.
How would i open these using html?
tried a few variations.
href="\WINDOWS\NewSmsMsg.lnk" will open the text contained in the file and messes up the panel, sets the panel screen to be the text inside the shortcut file from then onwards, the panel must be uninstalled to fix that issue.
calling href="WINDOWS\NewSmsMsg" done nothing
same as href="NewSmsMsg" and ="NewSmsMsg.lnk"
Anyone got any ideas.
Annoying as clicking on these shortcuts in the windows folder will do the desired action, just trying to get me html panel to do more useful actions.
Oh and you can write java script in html panels, it's in the example html panel for visual studio creating panels, not sure about flash, have not tried it, it probably JS only being microsoft.
Camera working, notes, msn messenger, calculator
here is the code to run camerarunner.exe that some people have had an issue with:
Code:
<img src="camera.png" alt="Images"/>
hope that helps some people out.
also to run notes its:
Code:
<img src="notes.png" alt="notes"/>
messenger is:
Code:
<img src="messenger.png" alt="Messenger"/>
Hello!
Is there any standalone cab or reg fix so you can have the name of the program under the icon in the Program tab?
EDIT: and when you go into Program from the start menu, can you move the icons in there to a specific map so you can get the program view a little more organized?
You can move all the programs around and rename the files by using total commander or resco file explorer.
I have done this to organise the folder into many sub-folders.
Thank you Dave!
Now for the name under program tabs, couple of cooked roms that have the feature in them so there should be a easy way like a cab or a reg-hack

Sorry - I meant the program view in the START menu not the TAB (you had both).
I don't now use the program TAB in TF3D as I have all the programs organised in sub-folders under windows\programs and windows\office mobile.
I use that with quick menu and it's so much faster for my many apps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3117017&highlight=secondtoday#post3117017 - it's grown since then !!)

add a program like IGO ect... to the quick links on the today screen IGO is on the SDcard
i did try to search but i found jack didley poo
Have you looked at page 75 of the user manual?

i would but its in another language
Ah ok. Look here..http://www.htc.com/www/userguide.aspx?p_id=297
WB
thank you
No worries; glad to have helped.
WB
sorry i think you miss read my post but i want to add IGO in to quick links but i cant find in on the list..... how do i add it?
Install Total Commander and look for the iGO exe from your SD card and create a shortcut to your windows program page. From there, you can go to quick link > programs...and it should be there.
sorry im such a noob! but were do i put the shortcut?
Hi again,
I don't know anything about IGO but if you are saying that when you click and hold a quicklink, then select program to add, and you can't find Igo on the list then do what Lude 219 is suggesting.
What he is saying is:
- Install a tool called Total Commander
- Use total commander to view the files on your device
- Navigate to your Windows folder and scroll down until you find the Igo exe file (probably called igo.exe)
- Copy this file and paste it into your \Start Menu\Programs folder
- Quit out of Total Commander and go to your front screen
- Click on the Quickling again, scroll down the list and you should see the Igo file that you copied int there earlier
- Select that file
- Job done.
Hope this helps
