Hello
So far over thirty views on this post and not one response.
If i have to pay for a fix i will.
It would be nice if someone could help thats all.
PLEASE
Well I've spending most of my time trying to find the thread that has already addressed this issue, but have been unable to locate it.
Anyhow if I remember correctly the thread talked about leaving the unit in the cradle while on until it booted on its own.

I think you are mistaking this forum for a paid-for support service.
If you look for Radio Stack Upgrades on this forum (or any place else on the net), you would notice lots of things can go wrong during these upgrades. These problems appear to stem from various sources, and there's not one easy solution. Our official advice is never to upgrade the RSU until you really, really, really have to, and know that the upgrade will fix know issues that are bothering you. You would also see your general question has been dealt with in detail many times before, which may be the reason people did not jump to answer your question promptly.
On recovery from RSU problems: many people have claimed success from various rescue methods, whose recipes you will find on this forum if you use the search function. If neither of these help, you'll have to send the unit in for service. Radio upgrade problems really show a main design weakpoint of the XDA. But hey, we didn't design it, and we didn't sell it to you either. We're just assembled here to help ourselves, and as many other people as we can. On behalf of this entire community, I apologize for the fact that we couldn't help you as promptly as is the obvious birthright of someone of your stature.
I can sense you're someone special. You post your problem and expect the perfect answer within 24 hours. If you don't get it, you then top it off by writing a post with subject '**** you all', and say you will buy a Sony Clie instead. Now I could tell interesting stories about something which Sony calls 'customer support', but I will not. Our world is a better place if you buy a Clie, and yours may be too. I'm sure many people on this forum would be more than happy to provide suggestions as to what to do with your old XDA.
No I do not think im special, nor do i think this is a "pay for fix" service.
I received my xda prior to release as my company writes software for the XDA. I have been reviewing this forum since it first started, when the only way to get round the sim-lock was to force a software error.
Yes things have progressed...a great deal, and it is by far the best xda site on the web. I recommend this site daily to associates and clients daily,
but it would also seem that some people have a "greater than thou" elitest attitude, and ignore any post which does not challenge their supreme intellect.
I would have been more than happy with a simple "go to this thread" rather than being passed over because my problem is not interesting.
I fly to Saudi on Tuesday, so if anyone wants a mint xda with cradle. then you can have it for free.
If anyone also wants the IPR for xda software that will make them alot of money then let me know. The concept has been tested and the IBM labs in Winchester have agreed to lend any equipment required.
Regardless of your sarcastic undertones, thank for for at least posting a reply.
Moderators, why the sticky thread disappear? The problem isn't solved, I know people having 64x with the problem .... also take a look here http://www.solopalmari.com/smf/index.php/topic,11129.msg49739.html#msg49739 is in italian but icons speaks and disallineamento means misalignment and 642 is 642 in any language ...
The sticky was useful to have a pulse of the problem, I know, may be isn't loved from HTC but what they love or not isn't our problem I believe!

Obviously I do not speak for the Moderators, but I think as a stick thread it had really served its purpose. We gained a good knowledge of how extensive the problem is and that you either have it or not and you either try the physical solutions or send it back.
Of course if there is anything new to add the thread is still available
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277861&highlight=alignment
and by adding to it, it goes top of the list. I suppose, for many of us it's just a boring topic now and the solutions (good or bad) are well known.
Personally I would not object if it returned to being sticky but will it really benefit us?
I guess others will post their views.
Mike
It has been sticky for two months (23 sept to 23 nov). If you or someone adds a comment to it it will be bumped to the top again, but I believe the problem has been discussed widely enough and doesn't need to be sticky anymore.
There is also a wiki page about the SA issue:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=How to fix the Screen Aligment issue
I know, it has been up for long time but SA is STILL unresolved!
I discover isn't sticky anymore because I would like to add the 640xxx problems!
The wiki state no Hermes Screen Alignment (SA) problems since 638... Also all new users (and many old) avoid scrolling down for more than 1-2 pages and the Device forum IMO is something useful for both, new and old user.
The SA thread is useful for new users, to find solutions, to avoid "risky" conditions, some pants and some pockets (HERMES isn't a truly POCKET device, it stops working if you keep it inside a pocket )to the company to develop a FIX and not a PATCH like they have done until now.
The old userse can add knowledge, having all knowledge together in the same thread
Thanks to SA we learned about Hermes Hardware, HTC service, HTC national service problems and SA thread is the most viewed hermes thread.
IMO un-stick it when the problem is solved, a couple of months, not only a week later.
I'll be monitoring it and re-stick it if I see there's activity.

So sticky is for threads with strong activity... LOL
LOL
Didn't meant that... but the SA issue has been widely discussed, and there's nothing new to be added.
- New Hermes owners buy new devices that don't have the issue. They don't care about S.A.
- Old Hermes owners have already read all the possible solutions about S.A. and probably taken action if they had S.A. on their device. They have solved the issue in one or other way (replacement, fix, etc...) So they don't care anymore about S.A.
- If someone has S.A. now, the thread is still here, the info is on the wiki and he can ask about it, but the thread doesn't need to be sticky for this.
- We all know HTC support is crap, otherwise we'll not be here trying to fix our issues, we don't need an sticky thread just for that
This is my point of view. Two months sticky was enough. If you feel the thread must be sticky again is just a matter of 2 clicks, i don't really care about it....
Anyone else wants the thread to be sticky? Any reason for it?
uh oh, even the new ones are having issues?! Doh! I'm awaiting a brand new one (twill be my 3rd TyTn)!
If this one plays up again, i'm getting a different handset! Its good, but i cant cope with hardly seeing it, as its in repairs all the time!
I have been watching things here start to get a little crazy (atleast in the Hermes thread). I don't have a magic answer, I wish i did. I have been thinking about his for the last three days. Then with JJ, the developer of black for the Hermes, deciding to take his rom to another site, yet to be determined. I started to think about how the ROMs are being supported.
I seems that we need to look support these roms like any software application I've been part of developing in the past. I think we need to look at adding a bug track system. Rather than use the forum for bugs and new releases what do you guys think about using a bug track system for this. This could be used for all kinds of applications.
Lets talk about this and see if the Admins and Mod think that this cold be something that is possible to get integrated into the xda site.

already tried... tried to implement a bug-zilla like site... noobs couldnt figure out and didnt bother using...
So we just give up. Sorry I just not ready to give up like that. We have to learn to educate these users. I agree with a thread I saw under the hermes about making a rule about posts like "DLing now".
never said anything about giving up... y dont you have a chat to the Administrator Peter Poleman...
Now that i brought many of you since you thought it exists that was my question. I really want to but roms and games on my ppc but im sorta afraid of over pushing the buttons and eventually wearing them down significantly.
Has any ever tryed this before? Or know where these may be sold?
what a waste of space....
Austinsync - is it really necessary for you to be a prick all the time?
If you have nothing useful to say, ignore the thread and keep your short-tempered, obnoxious opinions to your self - I am sick of reading posts by you that are either unhelpful or downright vitriolic. It's unnecessary and does nothing to improve the either the quality of poeple's posts or make them read anything.
And to answer the OP's question, there is a bluetooth games controller - never tried it with a hermes and would be interested to hear from someone who has.
Have a look here
Cheers,
Smiffy.
here here lordsmiff ......
n00b bashin is not a sport.
as Said above if you don't like the thread don't post !
yea its called a flamer, people like this on a gaming forum i am a member of are banned and locked. i wish that would have to assholes here also.
thank you for the bluetooth controller link, ill for sure check it out.
I agree with some of the posters here that Austinsync's comment is un-called for. I know you do not tolerate some kinds of questions well Austinsync, but this particular Hermes board has remained fairly flaming/sarcasm free (by comparison to the upgading board for example).
So
Do not reply to a post if you cannot do one of the following:
Reply with the knowledge you undoubtedly have
Reply with guidance on how to use the forum if it's a new poster
Report the the post if you think it is "unworthy" of the forum
Obnoxious, rude, overly sarcastic comments and flaming will be met with a ban in future (of varying length) for any user who ignores this guidance and site rules.

I agree. This whole XDA Dev forum is being spoilt by lack of tolerance by some . All of us were new at this once and although there may well be some real offenders (who fail to take even basic advice from the stickies) I think we should leave it to the moderators to 'address' these people.
Mike (Channon) is there no way of you moderators classifying each post so that the 'less helpful ones' are normally not shown when main stream browsers view the posts? This may be a Forum capability that the server software lacks but it would be very useful especially in some of the rather long posts where getting to the detail can take so very long because of poor posts by some.
A filter to take out the 'less than helpful' would be really good - if used carefully.
Good luck....

Hi Tony
There is no automatic facility for this. There can be filters for certain words but they don't work very well and posters can avoid them by deliberate mis-spellings etc. The odd swear word may be ok in the eyes of some provided it is not used as a means to abuse fellow members.
As far as avoiding the general membership seeing useless or abusive posts goes, there is no immediate way of doing this. Only when a Mod or Admin spots something or it is reported does it get moderated. The prevailing feeling in Mod/Admin circles is to try to hit a balance of freedom of expression against perfect manners and etiquette. So, of course, we will never keep everyone happy or even most members happy. Both those that hate noob posts and those that like gentle politeness will not be satisfied as we hover around the middle between the two extremes. Despite this, I feel it is the correct approach. So as above when we get a post that falls the wrong side of the line, I tend to leave it for all to see but also post the condemnation of it as well. Other moderators may delete the post. This can cause problems as the following posts from members can tend look odd as they appear to be replying to something that no longer exists. (I may obscure flagrant swearing however).
On the whole this particular Hermes board has been friendly. Bigger problems come in upgrading when you have the inevitable conflict between Noobs trying to upgrade and Gurus trying to develop ROMs- the clash of the Tytns as I like to think of it The true Gurus tend to keep out of this as they are the ones that originally made it possible to cook the ROMs and their task was over a long time ago. They are waiting to get their teeth into newly released devices and kick off another round of development. The cycle will always end though, at the stage where Noobs conflict with ROM Gurus - and that is where we are at now, made worse of course by the doubling in members on-line at any one time since last year.
Mike
This is a pretty nice place overall. Nicely run, too.
Anyway, the bluetooth controller listed above looks pretty darn cool. Too bad it's so expensive.
Is there any way to get a normal usb controller, coupled with a usb adaptor to run on the hermes? I mean... i have NO idea about how drivers work on the hermes... So this whole idea could be rediculous... but if it gets the gears in the head spinning... why not?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that would require USB-host functionality, which HTC has been studiously ignoring for quite a while now.

I've ordered one to try so ill drop back and let you know how it goes (if it does).. but it may take a few days/weeks to arrive as its shipping form Australia to the UK. I only found very few places selling them and the Aus one worked out cheaper than one that looked to be in the UK (but wasnt very clear at all)
I wanted to detail how much different the subsections are in xda, and how much you guys rock in this one.
Rant!-
I got jumped on in the mt4g section for posting a bug that was persisting through SEVERAL factory resets and rom flashes..for some reason i kept getting errors for processes for Samsung (on a htc..) And sign in failure for verizon (on a t mobile phone ). Even after wiping and re flashing different roms these problems persisted..so i detailed my attempt to find out why i got the bug, asked other users if they had experienced it (none had) and eventually traced the problem to the test rom i had installed. I brought this to the dev's attention by linking to my q&a thread on his dev thread only to be scolded that the issues were known, it was a test rom that i had no business flashing anyways, i should have read the thread as the issues were mentioned and known (which is why other users had never heard or experienced the issue??) And then the dev, on my account, pulled the link to the rom which angered other users whom then joined in chorus to say it was my own fault for not reading the bugs, when i said it wasn't in the bug list, was told "he doesn't have time to make a bug list for every test rom" (so where i was supposed to read that this bug existed i was never able to find, even after requesting to be linked to it).
The real icing on the cake was the fact that i spent 7 hours troubleshooting the bug, only a nandroid backup fixed it and thank god i had done a backup before installing it, and had searched extensively on Google in general and within xda forum for anyone having similar issue and no result, but was looked at as if i had wandered in, said "oh this looks cool"and flashed it and then proceeded to spam the dev thread with my problems.
Needless to say, I'll be selling this phone and not returning to that section as i am clearly not wanted there..rant over.
I want to say thanks to the devs in this section for being patient and helpful in the face of extreme ignorance, and to the users for understanding that not everyone on this site with less than 500 posts is a noob expecting to be spoon fed. I fear some of these communities are becoming to exclusive rather than inclusive. Transformer owners and developers as i have seen are very friendly and patient and I've gotten to like you all..
Even you goodintentions..
Thanks for showing that xda can be an inclusive community!
OK, flame on...
WRONG SECTION - USELESS POST! MODS PLEASE DELETE!!11!!ONE!1211
Ok, joking aside, I'm guessing maybe because tablet owners tend to be older then you're average high schooler we have a maturer crowd here?
I go by, if I can't help, then move on. No need to "flame" someone and get in an online battle...
And are you really going to get rid of your mt4g because of rude/inconsiderate people on the internet?
To join in on the rant.... READ READ READ READ READ..... so when are you supposed to post?
You would think that low post numbers mean more reading and less "got any updates?" or "Ya i agree". I personally only registered because i had a question that i couldn't find the answer to. Having been around forums for a while now (and i mean a long time) i have seen your situation at least once a year and sometimes it can be because the bug just totally pisses them off coz they cant fix it.
Totally agree.... the devs and gurus here are amazing. This truly is the place to be if you wanna hack and slash the device you have.
So thanks to all of you that make our devices so much more than we bought so that we can do whatever the hell we want with them.
Thanks again
I agree with OP. XDA has become a huge flame war where I feel that most people just post in threads to get their post count up. You have very few in here that will flame you for posting in the wrong section or repeating something that has already been posted(8 pages back).
Nature of the beast I guess. Next to head-fi.org this is one of the kindest sections I know.
It isn't my primary phone, and was intending to do that anyway, but the fact that the community is so immature and now hates me, there is no incentive to keep it
Oh well..on to the next device
EDIT: (One more thing I found funny, but no point in starting another thread)
While researching NVFlash and ubuntu/debian on the TF101 I came across this quote;
.. WARNING:: some/all TF101G (the 3G model) are expected to have a
different SBK. Until you know the SBK that corresponds to your
device, you *can not install Debian*.
To acquire an SBK, perform rubber-hose or black-bag cryptanalysis
on the associated ASUS staff. Once successful, please publish the
SBK widely, as (AFAIK) ASUS cannot revoke it from units that have
already rolled out.

LMFAO, I just read Applied Cryptography by Bruce Schneier..if any of you are unfamiliar with 'rubber hose' and 'black bag' cryptanalysis, google it
I agree so far from what I have seen in this fora. I have only had my tablet for about a week. But in deciding which tablet to buy, I read many, many different device forums to get a feel for just as many things. ROMs, Kernels, un/locked bootloaders, support and even accessories. I did the same thing when I bought a new phone. That is where I remember Baseballfanz from. The NS forums.
The thing with the post count is kind of strange. I have seen several people with below 50 posts, phrase an articulate question with nearly all the neccessary info. Whereas I have seen others with 500, 800, 1k posts with like you said, small blobs about nothing. Those just waste my time and I want to delete them, but I can't.
Similar to your situation, only my experience was the knight in shining armor. There was this person in the Vibrant forums who would just pounce on noobs about searching. I had just come from a Motorola forum that was by far one of the most helpful places I had ever been. That is actually where I learned about, well everything basically. Anyways, back to the Vibrant. I had gotten tired of seeing this person post the same replies all the time and flaming noobs. I thrashed him really hard about it and brought to his attention why they were asking these things (ever been in panic mode with your $500-$700 phone?) and sometimes the search button brings up more info that you need. You can easily lose track of why you were searching in the first place. He actually posted a thread apologizing and stating that he would be more helpful in the future (it has since been deleted).
Best advice I can give to someone is read, read and read but also give all the information that you can when asking the question. YOU may not think it is relevant, but I might.
