Are Kaiser and Hermes batteries interchangeable? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hi,
Specifically, I have a dead 8525 battery and cannot find a replacement locally. Can I use a Tilt battery? They have the same 3.7 VDC but the Tilt has a higher mAH. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

No, the contacts are completely different so they physically won't interchange.

Jamin Extended Battery

Do any websites make an extended battery for the prophet platform? And are there any places where you can buy mobile USB chargers for our phones so we can charge them with AA batteries if we don't have access to a power plug and/or PC? Thanks!!

You can buy an extended battery (1500ma) from online retailers for the Jam/Magician, I got mine from MMB (not listed anymore) it is exactly the same as for Prophet...I've done it. AA>USB>Prophet...don't know, I don't know why you would want this unless you were in the wilderness with no wall outlet or car
Jam and JAMin batteries are not EXACTLY the same
Like lots of others, I bought a spare JAM battery with my JAMin. However, whilst it fits and works, they are not exactly the same. On the side opposite the power connections, there are two shallow recesses. These are designed to allow two small ridges on the case to snap into them, thus holding the left side (facing you) of the battery in place. For whatever reason, these recesses are in slightly different locations on the JAM and JAMin, meaning that the JAM battery does not lock in as the OEM battery does. It thus relies on the back cover to retain the battery in place. As I say, it works but....

Re: Jam and JAMin batteries are not EXACTLY the same
My original Jam battery didn't fit properly in my Jam either. If I dropped it, the battery would come loose just enough to cause a reset. I solved this problem by inserting a small sliver of cardboard on the opposite side of the battery from the contacts, which I cut from the flap of the original Jam box I used the same method with my Jamin just for safety. I've had no problems after using this fix.

using SMT5600 charger for my mda ..good or no good?

ok so i found my old charger for my smt5600 which in theory is a cingular 2125/tmobile SDA.. well its a upgraded 5600.. ne ways i used it and noticed the temp of the phone went upto 44C while chargin and felt really warm.. now correct me if im wrong but the mda/sda use the SAME EXACT chargers right?
as far as I know, they're the same.. I've been using my smt5600 charger to charge my 8125, and haven't had any heat problems at all with it.. been charging up very nicely..
i use an iGo charger for my 8125 (see www.igo.com for details) and they list the same unit for both the smt5600 and the 8125, so it should be OK

Car holder to use with extended battery

Just got my new extended battery yesterday, and so far it works ok.
But now I need a new carholder of course, because the old Brodit mount wont take my Uni anymore now that it has become thicker....
Anyone found a solution to this, I prefer to have it in laptop mode in the car, I use TomTom a lot!
/HM
The Exec I have with expanded battery still fits in the Brodit holder, OK so its not quite as easy to get in the holder, but it's fine once located - Mike
Mine doesn't at least I don't think it does, I haven't tried to actually force it in though, did not want to ruin the holder, can you tell me how much your Uni has gained in thickness with your extended battery?
Mine has grown almost 6 millimeters, but if yours is the same increase, I will definitely try and force it in after all.
Cheers

Oh, I forgot to ask, can you still use the socket for the charger?
At least 6MM the battery is a LI-PO cell 3150mAh device (part number PU16A), it is a tight fit in the Brodit mount but it will go in, and yes I can still use the charger cable - Mike
is the extended batter alot better ?
as i'me getting an Xda Exec this week
I use the extended battery when away from home with the device, the main reason is Internet access, the battery gets hammered when connected via 3G so the extra weight and capacity is worth it for me, not for everyone though - the Exec is a lump to start with add the extended battery pack and forget the shirt pocket to carry it in! - Mike

Charging batteries simultaneously / at the same time

Okay. So I want to buy a minimum of one 1600 mah extended battery (in addition to the O.E.M. battery which came with it) for my Tilt, but I need a way to charge it at the same time as the other battery that will be installed in my Tilt. I have seen at least a couple of third-party cradles / docks (they struck me as cheap / poorly made) that do have a charging slot for said additional battery in addition to the connector for the bottom of the tilt, so yes they will both charge at the same time. Here's the problem: I bought seidio's slim rubberized case for my tilt, & I'm unaware of any other cradle / dock that will fit the Tilt with that case on it besides the InnoDock cradles that are on their website, & those do not have a charging slot for an additional battery.
So, do any of you guys know how I can charge an additional battery?
Are you guys aware of any other options available to me besides purchasing one of those cheap-looking third-party docks / cradles with the charging slot for an additional battery?
That would mean I would have a dual dock / cradle charging solution.
I hope there are other options.
Thanks in advance for your help, guys.
