I just want to know how to change the SMS tone to be .mp3 ??
i've placed the mp3 file under the windows folder but couldn't
see it in the drop-down list of SMS tones !!!
thank you in advance geeks ..
you need to use wav files in the windows folder for it to work
I am not a Geek!
But if I can use MP3 Files as a normal Call-Ringtone, why not also using MP3 Files as a SMS Sound?! :?:
I have absolutely no idea!! does that help?
Thanx ..
thanx guys for the help. In my opinion, it's impossible to set mp3 files as sms ring tones, you have to convert them into wav files.
havent tried it but I think you can use wma files with phonealarm

Where did you find a dialogue to select different message alert sounds? I can only find choices for ring tones, not message alerts. I've looked through the phone options and the manual but can find nothing about changing message alerts.
Doh! I just found it in Settings/Sounds & Notifications. It's a shame there is no consistent approach to setting ring tones and SMS alerts. No matter, problem solved.
hi
Does anyone know how I can assign my own ringtones or sms tones. I dont want to use the ones that come with windows or the phone.
Thanks
Steph
hi,put them in windows directory ,in wav format.
thanks marcdu81
thankyou it worked fine!
I'm trying to change my SMS tone and I can't figure out how. I've looked at a couple of threads and still nothing.
I've added the tones in MP3 and wave format in "\Windows\Rings" and "\My Documents\My Ringtones" and still can't find them in the Sounds & Notifications list
Anyone have any other ideas?
Edit: Sorted. Dumped the files in the Windows folder
It only support wav files.
Put the MP3's into the windows folder.
You can also put them on your SD card, in \My Documents

Good man
alarm sound?
how about the alarm sound? what format it supports?
Hello there!
Does anyone know how to change the New SMS notification sound for a custom MP3, WAV, WMA one??
Changing the ringer sound is super easy (You just copy the new ringer to the My Ringtones folder and then choose it in the Settings > Sound and Notifications window. But when You choose the New SMS from the menu, the new MP3s, WMAs and WAVs from the My Ringtones folder are not there. They are only available for the Incoming Call setting...
Can anyone help me and tell me how to change the SMS sound for a custom one?
EDIT: Problem solved. You need to copy the sound in WMA or MP3 format into the Windows folder on Your device. Works for me.
just windows root, c:\windows\ ?
Yes. The main Windows folder on Your device. Works perfectly for me.
Hi guys,
can anyone of you tell me, how to use my own ringtones, e. g. my music as ringtone?
Thx in advance
Play the song in the Music app, then (on the Now playing screen) press Menu > Set as ringtone.
Worked, thx
Is there a way to set my own sms ringtone, too?
Create folder
SDCARD/media/audio/alarms - for alarm
SDCARD/media/audio/notifications - for SMS/MMS
SDCARD/media/audio/ringtones - for ring
