PocketBill - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

The above 'PocketBill' is a very detailed software regarding call charge/sms billing.
Please note that you'll have to enter 100 units for $1 billing.
I have tried it but face a peculiar problem.
1.Suppose my call charge is $1/min. - then the billing upto 60 secs. is billed $1, but when the time exceeds 1 min. i.e. for 1min.30secs. I get $1.5 instead of $2. It is not rounded off to $2. Though I've set the Duration Increment to 60 secs.
2. Also I would like a feature added in Options - Extra Charge % (that will be based on the billing value & then I'll get net payable amount).
Someone please fix the first issue.
Thanking You All.

Please FIX the problem.
Please FIX the problem.

I've also noticed that the software is not for free, so assuming you've paid for it, you may be entitled to support and updates. I suggest you email the developer through the link you've provided to get them to fix the problem.

lol, your not gonna get any help acting like an a-hole. Like _Alex_ stated, if your paying for the software, you should consult the software developer for the changes you want

Software to PROPERLY calculate mobile useage?

Hi guys,
I have been reading up on software such as IP Dashboard monitor and such, as a means of calculating what my mobile phone useage is as I go. Such software though only takes into consideration free minutes, which is useless to me.
IS there any software out there that actually allows you to set peak/offpeak times,
-enter a peak/offpeak rate per ?? seconds for landline calls
-peak/offpeak rate per ?? seconds for mobile calls
-special call rates (eg calling a particular number for 10 cents per 10 minutes)
Is there such a program that allows for such flxibility??? It would however, need to convert with currencies and such. Im in Austraila. Such a program would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo useful for alot of us. Any help would be appreciated.
there is phone dashboard by hudsonmobile.com who does what u want.
Sorry, thats the one I tried. I meant that one, by Hudson. Are you trying to tell me that it can do what I asked? When I went through the options, all it said I could do was set a monthly free limit, bucket size, and thats about it. I didnt find any options where I could specify an exact amount per 30seconds, or per 10 seconds., peak or off peak.
I want the same functionallity, and also have the possibility to use prepay cards and have sms cost tracking.
Contacted Hudson mobile, but there software can't do this.
Haven't found anything else yet.
I've been using Phone Dashboard by HudsonMobile for a few months now and love it. There is a "round up to 1 minute" function that you can deselect to get seconds. More importantly, though, I had a problem with how they calculated their usage graph, which started on the 1st day of the month. I needed it to start on the 9th, my billing start date. I emailed them and within a few days they had changed the software!!! They were very responsive and willing to update their software to meet market needs. I would continue to try them and send them an email ([email protected]). I'm sure if it isn't in there now, they would like to add it to make the software work for more people and increase their market potential. Also, I sent them an email telling them about this forum so they could help out.
Hope this helps, since I don't know of any other software that comes close

I've been using it too for nearly 3 months and it is a great product, the devlopement team is really very firendly.
The 1.1 version does almost all what you need but it can only track minutes and seconds not yet prices, i think it is upcoming in the next realeases.

I've set my start date as 15th but the only display that seems to use this is the call list. The today screen scrolling display and the graphs still show the usage from the 1st of the month, am i missing something?
Make sure you download the latest version from Handango - it will give you Monthly Usage from the first day of your billing period - many people found the previous implementation very confusing. The Plan Tracker should always be keyed to the first day of your billing period.
So what you are really looking for is something that can look in your contact list and weather you call out or pick up a caller id comming in be able to catagorize the minutes you just used into one of the many diffrent types each plan allows. Like mobile to mobile, nifghts and weekends, free, and of course the ever dreaded pay per minute. and when you get done with a call if the software couldn't tell what type of call it was because it wasn't in your contact list it would ask you to tell it what it was so it would know next time.
Yes that would be something that would be the best thing since sliced bread and would sell as fast as hot cakes. Boy is this making me hungry.

AutoAnswer for XDA IIi (WM 2003SE, phone ed.)

When I had a smart (Nokia 6600), used answering machine "Smart Answer".
Now PDA XDA IIi (WM 2003SE).
It is necessary for me, that the program " Hangs Up " at an entering call, reproduced the text, and finished conversation.
Who can help me to find such program?
answering machine is absolutely impossible on your device
why impossible for this device?
try doing a search for answering mashine or something why it's not possible with wm pda phones is described many times in the forum
try doing a search for answering mashine or something why it's not possible with wm pda phones is described many times in the forum
Probably, there are answering machines which work by such principle?:
it is necessary for me only, that:
-phone automatically " Hangs Up " (well if would be possible to set an autorespond by the certain quantity of hooters)
-... And through certain time (5-6min) - " finished conversation "
Can someone tell me about it?
I think he means he just wants to controll the answering and hanging up. Thats relitively simple.
I am working on something now that will have that functionality incorporated in its settings. I can't give a definite time but if you dont find anything else try here again in a couple of months.
OdeeanRDeathshead
Very well! I am very glad, that there are people who can really help.
I with impatience shall wait on the program as in a network I can not find such with similar functions.
If it will be necessary to pay your diligence, I shall be glad to help!
All the same can somebody help me?

Dear OdeeanRDeathshead,
how at you business with programming the program are?
Sorry, but I just can't understand that  .
If you want my progress then.... What I am doing dose something else as its main thing, so that will take a while. For me the auto hangup is more of a safegaurd against never hanging up which would be expensive. I have read your posts again and it just becomes more un-clear. (No offence but) Please get someone to help you ask more clearly what you want and I may be able to add it in my product.
OdeeanRDeathshead
Thanks for so prompt replies!
Means, if it is possible, I shall describe procedure for what the program with such functions is necessary to me:
I live in Ukraine. As a matter of fact we have two largest operators of cellular communication who are monopolists. I, being the subscriber at both, use their services. The first operator - Ukraine Mobile Communication (UMC), the second Kyivstar.
At first operator UMC at me a subscription is unlimited (it the company in which I work pays), that is I talk, not worrying about spent time.
And the second package deal - at operator Kyivstar. My children use them.
Kyivstar represents such kind of services - as a payment of money for my account for entrance calls, that is to me pay money that someone dials my number and talks. But me charge money...
And so, it is necessary for me, that I could dial the number from time to time Kyivstar from the unlimited UMC, and for it to me will charge money for my account.
And for automation of process as to have to dial the number automatically each 5 minutes, and accordingly, it is necessary for someone to lift a tube(Hang Up) on other end, and the program for autorise is necessary to me.
That is it is necessary, that on XDA IIi the program at an entering call automatically accepted a call, and through set time (5-6 minutes) - laid down a tube(Hang Down).
Earlier when at the daughter was Nokia 6600, there were no problems (used Smart Answer). But now, when to it is necessary for work with PDA, I do not find programs in which there are such functions.
It is necessary:
The program on PDA at an entrance call automatically lifted a tube(hangup), and through the set time interval finished conversation.
In advance I am sorry for my bad English.

OdeeanRDeathshead,
Do You add this function to your product?
I am still having a little trouble clearly understanding. Here is what it seems like....
either:
1)you want a program to answer a call then some time later hang up.
or
2)you just want a program to hang up calls after 5 minutes.
or
3)you want two programs, 1 to dial every 5 minutes and one to answer then hang up after 5 minutes.(at different ends)
Well I spent a couple of hours tonight modifying some stuff to help with some of this. I did two versions
version 1.
http://odeean.veritel.com.au/ORDTapiUser/ORDcallKill.exe
will just hang up automatically after just under 5 minutes (280000 milliseconds actually).
version 2.
http://odeean.veritel.com.au/ORDTapiUser/ORDcallKill2.exe
will wait 8 seconds then answer the call. It will then wait about 5 minutes then hang up.
These have NO interface. When you run them there will be no ongoing sign that they are there. Please remember that you may only run one of these at a time. The coding is just the bare bones of what was needed to do its thing, if you run it twice it will not check if it is running and a second instance will go. This will give unpredictable results. To stop them you must soft reset your device. Sorry about that, but I just did not want to spend much time on this. when you run them a warning will pop up followed by a message asking what device to use, only press yes to the phone (normally cellular line).
I have tested these and they work for me. I would like to know if they work for you. The version that dose not auto accept a call but still hangs it up relies on a strange behaviour in tapi on ppc that in my opinion is a bug. For this reason the life of this code may be short (i have not tested it on wm2005 and do not expect it to work on it. I dose work with previous versions).
If you want a program to do the auto dialling it is easy enough, but I did not want to spend time making a gui and I was still a bit unclear on what you want anyway.

I have been using this for a while and now w/ the new radio needing a "primer program" this works great for me!
Now that we all have built in GPS, I would like to introduce you to what I use to start my GPS. I open Navizon, turn on my wifi, and pause till it is open. Then I open my mapping ap (I like Live Search).
Navizon gets started quickly with the cell tower and wifi access point triangulation, and then gets the gps chip going quickly; so live search is ready to go by the time I get in a destination.
Navizon:
http://www.navizon.com
Navizon is a wireless positioning system that works a little bit like a GPS, except it uses Cellular Towers and Wifi access points instead of satellites. In addition to being a wireless position system, Navizon offers features like the Directions, Buddy finder, Geotags and more...
This software relies on a community of users who contribute data to the system (WiFi and Cellular towers) when they have a GPS device. And the cool thing is that we can earn money doing it with the Navizon reward system:
http://www.navizon.com/navizon_rewards.asp
I'm already using it and you could make money too with it if you're interested. All you need is to install it on your phone and have Navizon connected to your GPS. Every Wifi access points that you pass, every cell tower that you log will mean money in your pocket.
So now that we have a phone that is compatible with Navizon, you should really check it out.
If you plan on registering, please do so by clicking on the link below:

That way, I can also earn some referral points if I'm the one who introduced you to the system ;-)
If you like the wifi positioning by itself - you can cash in your first $20 payout for the full version, after that it gets popped into your paypal account, and if you turn your friends onto it you can get a little extra too!
In fact, hey birthday boy, Mike (wideawake), why not put a link to this in the help ppcgeeks thread, I bet it would generate a bit of "mad money"!
UPDATE: This is no longer relevant - uncheck load at startup in settings...(edit - I do have one nitpick w/ this ap though; I have to go and delete the ap from the windows/startup folder all the time - I don't need it to start at boot for cryin' out loud! - eh I should make a mortscript to delete it at closing the ap or something..)

Anyone like this, hate this, already use it, I personaly realy like it. I had tried it over a year ago when I had a 6700 and no bluetooth, and didn't have good accuracy, but no programatic problems. Now, I use it everytime I go anywhere at all new, I'm kind of addicted!
Over 350 views, and no responces? Does everyone already use it?
I installed it and kept it running to see how long it would take to drain the battery. My battery went from 97% charged to a low battery warning in about 5.5 hours. That was with the screen turned off, too. The GPS, Wifi, and cellular radio were all enabled during this period.
This app (or, more accurately: the way it uses your hardware) sucks your battery dry, so be sure to have a charger handy.

5.5 hours? you are VERY lucky. it pulled my mogul from 90% to warning about about an hour.
JD
Krap Sakes, it's not for walkin around on a reg basis - the WiFi on the mogul will suck the battery dry quicker than a $20 ho when you give 'er a $50!
(think about it...)
I rarely use it except when I'm driving and plugged in. I might go ahead if I knew I was walking in a prime spot, but to walk around for 5+ hours Navizoning, I would want a car battery! Same as wardriving, it's on the heavier side of what our moguls can do, but it can, so we do!
If I was going to walk with it I might actually consider one of those "Solar Cell" hat things...
I've earned about $80 to my paypal so far just running this on my mogul since I first heard about it...
Code:
# mapped Points
Wifi discovered by you 8374 25122
Cell towers discovered by you 860 12900
Wifi already mapped 4615 4615
Cell towers already mapped 667 1334
Bonus points 0
Total: 43971
You have claimed 4 rewards
so i can verify they do pay off cuz my paypal now has balance!

I signed up under the post obove me, maybe this could become a pyramid scheme...
But after using for a day have found when with wifi, gps & evdo network with verizon the battery drain is crazy. I think the battery gauge even went down while plugged into my hadsfree kit in the car.
Try going into the wifi card settings (start/settings/connections/wireless lan/power settings tab) and set the slider to either the middle setting (what I use) or best battery. Then in the power settings of Navizon and check 'let Navizon manage power', then set the slider to the middle setting. For best power savings you could also set your backlight settings lower (I do this sometimes, not always).
That works pretty well for me, the car charger still makes the power bar go up!
Good luck, and post back your results...
I did both of those setting today and it worked good.
Did find one problem, i removed my handset from the car cradle to use outside the coar for a call that lasted about ten minutes then when i replaced the phone the charging light came on blinking not solid and the battery just kept dropping. After doing some reading found out that phone charging did thermal shutdown because of heat and would not charge battery untill it cooled down.
Seems the wifi, gps and phone call all at same time really start to heat things up.
Especially if you have it it the hot sun i.e. on your dash.
I try to make sure I don't have anything else open as well, the more open, the more battery used.
i installed this today and cant get the program to run without a fatal error
im running DCD 3.0.1 and everytime i try to start the service it crashes and will not give a detail description on the error as i have the free version

Aside from the money aspect, its just kinda fun and addicting, to walk around see how many u can get
ENJOY!!
after having so much trouble trying to get the program to run correctly and having major battery drain after installing the program i removed it and dont expect to be going back
I've had great results so far. Just one day's use and over 1000 points. I found that it seems to pick up more in residential areas.
Also for anyone thinking of signing up, share the love.

Battery Issues - HTC's Solution

Initial Inquiry:
I have followed all the steps to extend my battery life. I charge the proper way and have very few apps running in the background. Despite this, I only seem to get 1-2 hours of battery life. Even on standby with the application power manager in use I can barely squeeze a third hour before the phone shuts off. I contacted T-Mobile and was directed here. Please tell me what steps I need to take to obtain a new battery.

My Response:
Im sorry, when going through the steps to contact HTC I was given a device selection option, I did not realize that it did not forward this information on to you. I am currently using the G1. Without sounding rude, I am trying to explain that I have already gone through the "canned answer" steps that are provided on your site, through T-Mobile, and by simply searching Google. I have friends and family that use the G1, and with the same settings. They actually came to me simply because of all the research I had done and even they do not experience the short battery life I am. After having the T-mobile Dash, and the Wing (Herald to HTC, I beleive) I expect less than average battery life. 1-2 hours, though, is simply rediculous. On a side note, while I understand that HTC is trying to make phones that are not obscenely large, you would think that if a phone included 3g, GPS, ect that the first step to longer battery life would not be to disable all the primary reasons for purchasing such a phone. Back on topic. As I stated in my first service request, I would like to know what I have to do to obtain a new battery. Thanks.
And where are the steps from HTC?
http://www.htcwiki.com
( TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS - BATTERY ISSUES #1.doc BATTERY ISSUES #2.doc )
Where is this file?
If you can't figure out what applications might be consuming your battery, I suggest reverting it to a stock system image (if it is not already), and performing a wipe of the data partition. If this does not improve your battery life DRAMATICALLY, then you DEFINITELY have a defective battery, which should be covered by your tmobile warranty.
You can also install the spare parts application from the Google marketplace application. This can help you determine what applications are using battery power.
The story was far from over. I already knew it was a defective battery. I am underclocked on screen off. Power manager running. No wifi, no gps, 2g networks only. But you never tell them all that or they realize you have root and ask how haha.
Their next response was complete instructions for how to PURCHASE a new battery. Got the phone in November. Tmo covers it for 90 days. HTC picks up the rest of the first year. This time I call Tmo and explain the situation, refrencing the original call that sent me to HTC.
Testament to TMo and their level of service versus that of HTC: With me on the line they called HTC and more or less said "This kid is getting a new battery." Now I just have to wait 5 days for delivery

warning three throttling people

Ok here it is
i had a very long and informative conversation with three.
basically she told me that three throttle people from their side on a personal basis ie they manually check what your data usage is and make a decision to throttle you.
heres the conversation i had unedited. you might have to dl it and turn your volume up also make a dropbox acct not sure on that but i use mxplayer set to software mode for the extra volume and on 32bit display settings any how happy listening

Transcript on way shortly
long awaited transcript for those who cannot here it properly
here goes its long (21 pages of little square note paper lol) so.i edited little words out ie most of the ummms n rrrrrrrs lol and left the relevent ones if.for.emphasis lol titles will be (me). (woman).
here goes
me:"Could i speak to a manager please?"
woman:"Any reason why you want to speak to a manager?"
me:"fed up of being hung up on, allready spoke to u afew times and been hung up on."
woman:"sorry about this can i take your name?"
me:"yes its.... ive already put my pin in."
woman:"i'll just check whats happening, hang on one sec. (pause) your experiencing slow speeds on your phone when downloading anything on your phone? hang on a sec while i just check that for you, just hold the line a sec."
(on hold music 30secs ish)
woman:" thanks for waiting i believe its related to stop currently managing speeds so you need to enter the neccessary info so to a live share of our networks so obviously your getting speeds of upto 2kbps right?"
me:"yes" (near enuf is what i was thinking about her half baked reply. more of those lol)
woman:"which is fine, what ive done is we need to send info accross our network team who keep a tab on your speeds and so on, and so as a matter of fact we will get more info from them so we need some time off you."
me:"well this was allready supposed to be happening a few days ago now, it was supposed to be sortesd today but it hasn't."
woman"well i appologise for the delay but we are trying our best to sort it dont worry we've got your details and the required department, infact the manager will send the details off to that department who will give us more info indepth as what will happen and so on they will help us and get back to us, sorry you".
me:"right, cos ive been reading around and read that you've started throttling people?"
woman:"what do you mean by throttling people? sorry i didnt get that."
me:"yeah, that you've been throttling peoples speeds on the internet."
woman:"ok i give you the jist of what the exact update is, give me a minute stay on the line a minute."
(wkd silence for a min woman"stay on the line please")
(woman returns)
woman:"we have info on our website on any info releating to web traffic."
(pause a second)
woman:"i can give you the link where you can keep track on any of your updates and see whats going on, obviously we arent able to let the 1% of people know in advance so this helps us ensure all of our customers get a fair share of our network so we currently double up and improve if this is why its happening.
me:"right so you are actually throttling people right?"
woman:"we are running trials of this in terms of high internet usage so we ran a particular file and we are looking into parts of those files so that other networks....we've done this accross our network that affects different people. we are always able to let people know about these at the same time."
me:"i thought you were'nt supposed to throttle, i thought it was unlimited inernet and all the rest of it?"
woman:"it is unlimited internet, it's not that we're saying it's not unlimited it is unlimited theres no errrrr. we're not letting you not use your unlimited internet we're just trying to manage the traffic of the using of the people around."
me:"so in other words your throttling the peoples speeds, then i thought you wer'nt allowed to do that?"
woman:"see we continuously yerrrr you know in terms of our t and c's let us have traffic management policy."
me:"right"
woman:"so if you check now t and c's if it's regards to our traffic management policy you'll see whats going on."
me:"right where do i find these then?"
woman:"you can i will check if you wait a minute its www.co. one sec, three.co.uk/trafficsense
me:"how come its only affecting people on tethering and not people who are usin the internet? coz the http transfers are ok and stuff like that its just when i try to tether it becomes really x2 slow and it's just unmanageable basically?"
woman:"so your saying only when you tether its slower as opposed to when your on your handset. hold the line please ( one sec lol 30 seconds)
woman:"thanks for waiting spoken to one of our tech team they said for a more faster experience on your browser as opposed to tether, if you want faster speeds look at mobile bb package."
me:"i'm already on the oneplan which includes tethering."
woman:"yes"
me:"which includes stuff like that so should that not affect the speed because technically it's still your network?"
woman:"yes but at the same time i've told you about the trafficsense, we manageing this and with regards to this we have to give a fair polocy to everybody."
me:"right"
(long pause here i rannoutta things to say lol)
woman:"coz you only mention this about if you continue to use that are you getting error message by any chance?"
me:"it's just running really really slow like i say its unmanageable by myself, i cant do any testing or anything it's perminately like being blocked at all times of the day really. i've had speeds of 20kbps forra few dayz now its really irritating."
woman:"yes i understand, im afraid thats the limitation i can suggest coz we've got so many customers in your are we have to manage everybody on a (some word i cant make out) package (sounds like sackage to me lol) . we look at everybody on a personal basis so we looking at everybody manually and thats how our traffic is managed efficiently."
me:"right so when am i going to get unblocked if its on a manual........"
woman:"sorry i beg your pardon"
me:"so when am i going to get full speeds back if your looking at it from a personal point of view on your side, then you should be able to answer really."
woman:"yes in regards to this i'll just get back to you, hold the line please."
me:"yes"
(more awsome music lol)
woman:"thanks for waiting, i've just checked again with technical team they mentioned that the tethering speeds will always be slow on your phone."
me:"right"
woman:"and more important i would advise you clear certain data on your pc if increase your memory is full, i would suggest deleting certain items on your pc and then try that would also help certain space, really.r
me:"well i already standard delete cache, cookies etc and im only using my phone anyway as its software im using just mimics tethering you see, so i can set ota updates and stuff like that but like i said since i've been cut down to 20kbps i cant recieve ota updates and stuff because itz too slow basically."
woman:"this has been sent to the tech team so you dont worry we are trying to help you and the manager has sent too and we'll get this sorted for you on a personal note, if you wish i can get back intouch to you once i get a reply would you like this?"
me:"yes"
woman:"certainly my name is diego like marradonna (lol)
me:"yeah yeah"
woman:"allright i will definately get intouch with you in 24 to 48 hours once i receive word. ok."
me:"ok, like i said this should have been sorted a few days ago and someone should be doing this today."
woman:"yes i understand what with you calling us back you (coff coff probably splutter) didnt need to call us because we know whats going on i just want to thank you for the inconvenience caused so we will try our best."
